I love that that bypass valve sound! I'll have to check back around Black Friday. I'm pretty happy with the power of the car, I just can't hear the damn thing.
Yea it's pretty addicting to hear that sound lol. I'll be casually cruising and just press on the gas enough to hear the turbo spool and then let go to hear the bypass valve.
Yea the stock intake is pretty good. You don't really need an intake until you push a lot more power. But it does sound nice and makes driving more fun.
Sick I just pulled my motor on my 08 but as soon as she’s ready to roll I think I’m just gonna go ahead and get a better intake and a Cobb tuner so I can log stage 2+ 😉 btw I was really impressed with the turbo spooling with a stock intake! Cant wait to hear a better difference
Yea, it's not bad with the stock intake but i like to hear a little more induction noise. It's addicting to punch the gas and let off just to hear the recirculating valve lol.
Love the intake noises! My only issue is the stock bypass valve lets out a whistle on deceleration from 2k down to 1k rpm. Do you notice the same issue?
Idk if you'll respond but was the big SF intake the only thing changing the sound in the 2nd part of the video? The sound difference is crazy so I was thinking maybe you bolted on an exhaust plus the intake for the second part when you showed the big SF sounds.
There might have been a clip or 2 where the windows were down but the intake is the only difference. I had Remark axle backs installed when I recorded the stock intake clips and Big SF Intake Clips. It's a very noticeable difference when you change out the intake.
I mean you can run it without a tune but it's recommended to use a tune, at least the OTS tune on the accessport. You are changing the air flow so it can throw off the AF readings.
@@krisgrafili6780 If you get the cobb accessport it comes with a tune for the intake, or you can get an etune online, lots of good tuners, or if you have a place nearby that tunes cars you can get a protune.
I have actually been protuned for about a year now. Car ran fine on State 1+ but I did get the occasional DAM drop and some feedback knock. Since I got tuned, I have not had a single DAM drop and barely get any feedback knock, that's with the car making a lot more whp and wtq compared to stock. So if you plan on making more power or adding more parts I'd highly recommend a protune. The car will run significantly better.
@@chrrrissss I would definitely recommend a Protune/e-tune even if you're just running the Cobb Intake. The car will run significantly better compared to the OTS tune.
Always start with the normal map first. Check the Cobb notes to see what target boost levels are. If you car is under boosting then you can switch to HWG (high waste gate). You don't want to start with HWG because you might overboost and it'll cause issues.
Hey man, Yea -30% is really low, do you see these numbers while driving around or while the car is sitting at idle? Do you have any other mods? Id clean the MAF sensor, check that the Cobb extender isn't cut or damaged and double check the filter to make sure it's an inch from the inlet. I think Cobb says +/-16 is considered normal
@@sonicplayroompiano4302 Lol yea. Been protuned since last summer. Have a bunch of videos coming out for the install on the other parts. Intercooler, downpipe, actual Dyno tune, etc. Car feels completely different.
@@sonicplayroompiano4302 Honestly depends on how heavy your foot is lol. I haven't seen a negative effect on fuel mileage though, overall it's actually gotten better. Probably because the car can "breathe" easier, changing out the exhaust after the turbo really opens things up.
If you put any intake on this car you have to get a tune for it to run right. You're adding more air so the ECU needs to compensate. Cobb has a kit where you can buy the intake and accessport together. It's cheaper than buying them separately, if you wait until the annual Cobb sale you can get a discount on the whole kit. That's what I did.
@@alexs_wrex already uploaded stage 1 yay!! And yeah it was legit. Now looking for a deal on the big SF Intake which is impossible, people told me getting an ap for $500 was also impossible so lol
I Installed the intake about a year ago and the car has been running just fine. As long as you install the filter properly and run the correct tune you shouldn't have any issues. The OTS tunes are pretty conservative because they need to work on all WRX's so they aren't going to be straining the motor or anything. For the most piece of mind, you can get a protune/etune. These tunes are calibrated to your specific car with whatever mods you currently have installed so your car will run at its best.
I don't know why I'm watching this because I got one haha
For real though Lmao
Bro same🤦🏾♂️
Literally same. 👌🏼😅 Just loving the sound. Lmfao
in the same boat
Hahaha me too! I can hear it and save gas!
Great video showing the difference. Nice job 👍
Thanks!
I have a 16 WRX and all I plan on doing is this and a pro tune, all the sound I need.
You won't be disappointed.
Please say you got a catback ☺️

its mainly for the sound from what I heard overall, despite being quiet the stock snorkel is very efficient.

Hmm, I don't know if I've noticed that. Did this happen in all gears? I have a downpipe and full exhaust now though so definitely don't hear it lol.

Hey man are you just running a stock turbo any mods done to it like is it boosted or?
It's pretty much stock. I just have the Cobb intake, Axlebacks and Stage 1+ tune from the Accessport.
Gonna install one on my 2016 levorg. Hopefully I don't need to tune it..

I'm assuming you mean "tune". Yea, at a minimum should use the maps that come with the Accessport. A protune or etune would be best.
