Fun fact, the 987.1 Cayman is 51% 911 (997.1), 29% 987.1 Boxster, and 20% bespoke Cayman parts. Apart from the lower power vs the 911 and the lack of unusable rear seats, they”re as good as identical in almost every way...with the exception of the engine being in the correct place on the Cayman of course 😂
The Cayman is a 987 Boxster with a fixed roof. They are virtually identical. If a Cayman is 51% 997, then so is the Boxster... Cayman and Boxster parts are all interchangeable. There is no '20% bespoke cayman parts'.
Prices are on the up for the cayman! .......same for the Boxster 987. The cayman is the only car I’d change my 987 Boxster S for. They are brilliant to drive.
I have a new 718 Boxster and had the 981 Boxster and they are amazing cars but the original 987 Cayman is classic raw Porsche. The looks will never fade. You can just sit there and look at it and be contempt. Of course then you need to drive it and I do, 110k miles and runs smoother than my other two. I will never sell this one. There are very few cars that can put a smile on your face within a mile of driving.
That has the 2.7 exhaust but S on the back? They only came in 2.7 or 3.4 with a 2.9 added later in 2009 I think.Good video tho! Good to see more Cayman content. So hugely under represented on UA-cam :)

i don't know but i'm love'n it! just picked up a cherry (guards red really) 2007 base unit in ferrari red/tan. 29,000 miles and absolutely pristine paint and interior. too bad one of the previous owners sold the original wheels and "upgraded' the radio to a pioneer unit. i'll soon be searching for the much maligned original cdr24 head unit, amp and some 19" lobster claws. i guess i'm just not an aftermarket kind of guy... . then... after owning it for less than 24 hours i added a crack to the teeny-tiny one that was already in the windshield while carelessly installing some wipers. awwww! so mad at myself! so it's off to get a new windshield at the dealership. yeoww! due to the small crack in the windshield right in front of the driver (mine was hidden from view down by the wiper blade at least) that i noticed on the long ride home in my new purchase i DID think about replacing it so my careless one was really just the final straw...right?....right? BTW, you notice how loud the guy is talking? that's because at speed there is a LOT of tire/road noise. don't know why, but i'll be looking to throw some sound deadening closed cell foam between the wheel liners and what's ever behind them (like on a same MY aston vantage, now THAT's a quiet car) to cut it down. i find it really annoying. other than that, the car's a hoot!
I just bought a 07 guards red and coming from benzes I find it super loud, recorded 91 decibels on hwy. I also believe it's mostly coming from tires/ wheel well area. I will follow with some sound deadening.
What a coincidence. Was searching these up. Would love to get the 981 Cayman but probably might not be able to afford it. These ones though I wouldn't mind and think still look as handsome as it's younger brother
Definitely try and test drive the different variants before you buy. The first gen are a bit more raw and make you feel more involved in the driving experience than the second gen which is more refined. The 981 also switched to a turbo charged 4 pot which in my opinion sounds no where near as good as the flat six in the 987.
I agree with every single thing you’ve said - I love my cayman! People ask why I love it - my answer is you need to drive it! The harder you push the more it just seems to push in to the road
