In this video I'm showing how I color grade with the original conversion LUT for the Panasonic GH5.
This is the same conversion LUT that you use when you're recording in V-Log while you're watching on the display for your GH5 and if you don't want to see the flat profile of your V-Log picture profile.
It helps a lot when exposing for V-Log! I also use always my ZEBRAS stripes to avoid an over exposed image.

Great tutorial. It's amazing what a little work in post can do to get an image to look the way you want. You have a good eye for color and light.
thank you so much! I like movies and I try to replicate some pictures in my color grading process:)
8:49... Oh I like those greens!
thanks my friend!
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing your awesome editing and how you get amazing colors! I will give it a try on my GH5 and G9 VLog footage! I greatly appreciate it!
I'm very honoured that it was informative or helpful for you!
gorgeous!
thank you so much :)
WOW! Bro, thank you!
thank you. It might sounds a little bit difficult with the LUT but I will do another color grading video color grading the night video without using LUTs and very easy to do
@@kenslyder bro, you are reading my mind)) I was thinking about it:)

Nice colorgrade tutorial, so many ways to do it over the years. You have some similarities that I do myself, in vlog do you not over expose by 1 stop, I just released that video too by the way, “Amis mill dam”
Dude you're a genius! I just saw the video.. And the colors speaks for them self. I like the skin tone, look very natural but cinematic in the same time. The lens is gorgeous! And you filmed this in v log? by the way, we have so similar locations over here in Europe fortunately. I love waterfalls...
No, I usually don't over expose. I know that is possible with v log but I just use my zebras when I have a bright sky for instance. Or thanks to the in camera conversion lut I expose by taste, like I would film with any other picture profile.. Thanks for the comment, unfortunately I couldn't leave a comment on your video because comments are turned off, it says. But congrats, I like your stile too!
@@kenslyder I fixed the comment section haha, so yeah I notice i few things, if I use zebras at max and use the light meter right at 0. Not over or under. Even if nd filters are involved or not. If I view on my monitor it looks great but soon as I upload to UA-cam my footage still looks great but the brightness on cell phone which is most common or the only tv has to be raised to look the best. So now I over expose by 1 stop exact only in vlog though any other profile it’s still at zero. But vlog is by 1 stop for full screen. It I use spot metering then it’s not the accurate from how I been doing it so I just been doing Og way of regular light meter and by 1 stop then on my computer I colorgrade with my light display at 50 to 60 percent, I still get the grade I want but when others viewing it they don’t have to raise there screen brightness. Also that gamut lut conversion is way better, but done the exact same way you do yours. Almost identical, yeah I live in east Tennessee USA, we have tons of waterfalls
@@RyanTrent you're doing it smart! When editing my screen is also at 50% max. I like to color grade like movies most of the times. Some directors like to under expose and others not. It really depends on your style. I like that with v log you can be very creative and some times I like to color grade without any conversion lut. Sometimes I also like to put a lot of grain on top of the footage and then some videographers say "why is your ISO so high?" when in reality I just like to put grain on the footage in post haha. It's a taste thing. If I would shoot a commercial or a fashion video, of course I would try to avoid a grainy look. But for my stile, I actually like grainy footage for instance as long it doesn't look like a really bad digital noise. Film grain and digital noise are to different things, but they can look similar if you don't over do it with the ISO. or simply add film grain in post :) Grain gives you a nice texture to the footage and it makes it look even sharper in some situations. Not all movies apply film grain these days. But if you like the retro look, its very nice!
@@kenslyder well said. Yeah now that you told me about the grain a few videos ago, I don’t run neat video app no more, it’s saved me time and I like the way it looks too.
Also you your thumbnails, you grabbing from through the clip?
hey :) Yes I screenshot my clips for the thumbnails. In Final Cut Pro (the video editing software). I put my text on the clip I want to screenshot after I exported the video. And the screenshot is still a huge 6mb file, that I have to convert in a smaller file for UA-cam thumbnails. It works good for me that way.
Very nice - Thanks for the tutorial! Do you shoot v-log in 10bit vs 8bit? Any in camera adjustments need to be made to the vlog profile (sharpness, saturation, etc.)?
Hi :) thanks for your comment! I'm shooting in 10bit when possible. In the native ISO 400, when possible. sharpness -5 NR (noise reduction at +0. I use the in camera LUT when filming. saturation at +0. Set the right white balance befor shooting. If you shoot outdoors and it's cloudy, set the white balance to clouds ☁️. If it's sunny, set the white balance to sunny☀️. If it's night outdoors I usually use the light 💡 white balance preset.. :)
@@kenslyder - excellent!👍 Thanks for the reply, keep up the great work!
Do you have any tips on how to get better skin tones with v-log 60p and 8 bit? is it possible to not get the blocky weird skin tones?
Honestly when you talk about v-log 60p 8 bit, it seems to me you're shooting on the GH5? Lumix recommend to shoot in 10bit when using v log, so there is no 10bit in 60p on the GH5 unfortunately. 10bit it's great to avoid artefacts especially visible in in the skin tones they say.. So I never even tried to shoot v-log in 60p 8bit yet.
By the way...I liked the sound of that microphone.8:09... What microphone is it?
thanks. It’s the Hollyland Lark M2 wireless mic.I did some EQ adjustments in post and I did a video about it few weeks ago :) here ua-cam.com/video/ABcfueYw1TU/v-deo.htmlsi=Hl52x34qzMEeJ_3L
@@kenslyder Ah, OK. Thanks!
Is this only for mac users? there's no final cut pro x on windows...
yes unfortunately it's only for Mac, but adobe premiere works similar .
