For those who didn’t see the original version, the shot at 2:14 was filmed on a different day. The hand seen is my own, and I’m operating the train using WiThrottle on my old phone.
Very nice layout. I noticed the California Northern GP15-1 105. The actual unit is in my hometown of McGehee, Arkansas on the Arkansas Midland Railroad. The unit has been repainted into G&W's orange and black paint scheme as Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi Railroad 1566.
This have me ideas for my railroad! (Stafford Northern or SNRX.) Featured in my profile picture is SNRX 16 a GP40 originally built for the AWP and has since found its way on to our railroad. We operate in Virginia with our main yard in Stafford VA. We have 2 main subdivisions, the rappohannock subdivision, (part of the Richmond division) and the Potomac subdivision, (part of the Washington division). Our main yard is called Thomas yard located in north Stafford Virginia. We utilize very railfan friendly power like SD40-2s and GP38-2s. Our most recent locomotive aquisitions include GP38-2 high hoods from Norfolk Southern and C40-8s from Pan Am Railways.
Yep. There are stub tracks under the layout for each drawer track, so that a locomotive getting to the edge of the drawer doesn't fall off. There are rerailers on both sides of the drawer gap, as well as on the far end of the drawer where trains normally enter and leave Bakersfield.
38 inches inches for the lower level. 60 inches for the upper level. Deck depth varies between 24 and 32 inches depending on location. Nowheres Yard obviously is much wider than that at almost 6 feet.
Motorized drawer for the 14 track yard, that's awesome...

On the slide out Bakersfield staging yard, what was at the end of the tracks closest to the camera? Were those rerailers?

Great layout tour! May I please ask what the heights and depths are for decks 1 & 2?
I don't have access to this layout at will, but some of the members there may see this question and be able to answer it.
I can measure exactly tomorrow, but lower level is at about 3 feet, and there are 2 feet deck separation.
Thanks Bernhard!

Passenger trains never take the siding.
It’s for freight trains
You know they have clearance
