I’ve been OMAD for over two years but I started breaking my fast recently with Chia seed, Berry, Greek Yogurt and Almond Milk smoothie. What a beautiful break fast!!
So, I started breaking my fast everyday with the fat, protein, and fiber smoothies you shared with us and OMG!!! I'm losing belly fat fast!!!! I'm full and don't even think about food for 4-5 hours and I notice I'm eating less everyday. I have so much more energy and feeling better!!! I've started going to the gym and having better workouts. I even added a little bit of cinnamon to the smoothie to kind of switch up the taste. Hoping that's ok, Autumn!!!
one of my go-to breakfast meals is 1/2 C cottage cheese + 1/2 chopped red bell pepper + 2 T raw pepitas along with fresh ground black pepper. I sometimes replace the chopped red pepper with halved grape tomatoes.
I'm eating breakfast now! Soft boiled eggs with turkey deli meat grape tomatoes, oven warmed salad mix and I added an avocado when I was watching this because Autumn inspired me to.
The scrambled eggs with avocado is my go to when breaking my fast. I add spinach as well. I try to have my smoothie as my snack in the afternoon, but sometimes I might break my fast with one. Great information.

I always make your smoothies (my favorite are the coffee cinnamon and blueberry coconut ones). They are very tasty and I always feel fulfilled. Since I am very busy, I aways make 4-5 smoothies in mason jars and put them the the freezer for the week days. I always grab one on my way out. I personally prefer them with frozen chunks .. and I always have shredded coconuts and cocoa nibs to add when serving. Yummm
I just heard a video by Thomas DeLauer who said that as a woman you should start adding lots of salt to your water two hours before breaking the fast, break with a pea protein shake, and then eat lean protein - then about an hour afterwards you can add a salad, the fibre, fat, protein etc - because the villi are sensitive and the cortisol levels are naturally high during fasting. He completely confused me but as a woman worried about fertility I thought I'd listen... what is your take on this? Thank you Amber. My blood sugar has gone from 41mmol last Jan to 51 this month AFTER trying to adopt a healthy lifestyle. My cortisol is breaking the scales LOL

I think the lack of carbs is the point. Fasting is WAY easier when your body is running on fat instead of sugar (more a keto style diet). Carbs will just spike your insulin and also make it drop quickly leaving you hungry again. That said, I don't think there is a smoothie in the world that would leave me feeling satisfied after a fast either lol
Try one of the smoothie recipes I have on my blog and UA-cam channel! If you're still hungry, you can always add in an extra serving of fat or you may need to increase the protein portion.

Hi Autumn-is it not a good idea to eat raw cashews & almonds after a 12-14 hr fast/ I read that they are high in phytic acid and oxalates but do not understand why they should be avoided.
It just depends on your own sensitivity to nuts. Some people are very sensitive while others aren't at all. Similar to dairy products - some people are highly sensitive to lactose whereas others aren't. But it's still important to pair the nuts (fats) with a high quality source of protein.
I’m not a fan of smoothies. Don’t like drinking calories. I feel more full and satisfied with actual food. I’m a negative Nancy today. Don’t like having “dessert” like foods for breakfast. Now, that 3rd meal is right up my alley. ( Except getting / having avocados is a science, art form and luck ).

So you do not think dairy causes inflammation? I do love Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. But wondering if dairy hasn't been great especially being in menopause...
If you're allergic to milk proteins or sensitive to lactose, then it wouldn't be a good option. Otherwise, more recent reviews of clinical trials on dairy and inflammation found that dairy does not cause inflammation: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089732/

I have tried so many ways to eat avocado but I really don't like it so another option to have with eggs would be appreciated. I might be able to do a smoothie with avocado if there are some good ingredients to mask the taste.
I would say using mct oil instead of butter (sat fat) would be easier on your digestive track when breaking a fast. Don't know about the coffee part...

Fiber is hard on your system when breaking a fast. The gut lining needs to get fired up first. I'd stick to lean protien and good quality fat. Then add in your fiber gently on your next meal. That's been my experience...
Yes ! I am listening to several different things.. iv just been doing Bone broth to break my fast and then an hour later then I eat a healthy meal with the fats and protien and fiber .. I hope bone broth is ok lol seems to work for me so far 😅

I'm having soft boiled eggs, avocado, grape tomatoes, turkey lunch meat and salad mix with spinach. I warmed the turkey and salad mix in the oven when I was boiling the water then eggs. I've never had this before quite like this, but I'm liking it.

yes oats, pair with protein powder and some chia seeds, a dollop of full fat yogurt or oats with 1 cup full fat yogurt and chia seed. both will give you protein, fat and fiber
once I gave chance to full-fat yogurt which I actually had in my younger days ( my grandparents actually used to consume full-fat sheep milk yogurt; it's 6-7% fat so don't be scared ) I felt much better as far as it came to digestion. I've been doing OMAD for quite some time now and I aim to keep it balanced around protein,carbs,fat; not a big fan of keto I felt I can't handle that much fat. In addition, despite being Greek and living in Greece where there's a plethora of yogurt to choose from, for instance strained or not strained, full-fat or low-fat, cow or goat or sheep or buffalo milk yogurt, the mass production of dairy gave me the impression the quality of nutrients in the products has decreased. I actually never had goat or buffalo milk yogurt but certainly sheep milk yogurt is the way for me to go ( big props to my father also who was keen on me giving it a go ). Last but not least, sheep milk yogurt is considered to be more nutrient dense according to various studies compared to others.
i only eat once a day usually breaking my fast after 22 hours but i usually have a glass or 2 of very dry white wine ( not every day but some days( i have to take care of my aging mom on a daily basis ) no food then an hour later i eat a salad some chicken and veggies no fruit maybe a popsicle . bI was losing weight and have kept off for about 5 years but now i find im bloated and not really gaining weight but inches . i am 64 years old i exercise everyday I usually walk run 10 k a day and try to do weights 2 to 3 times a week and toning exercises . I cannot add more exercise . but find i am snacky at night i will have plain popcorn or for the most part just drink water . why is this no longer working /

Breakfast used to be a very quick premade K-Ration type of product during the industrial revolution. Back in the 1880s factory workers in London worked early hours and on into the night. They would typically start work before dawn and then get only 5 minutes to eat their ration at mid morning. You would have crack the metal seal on your ration, then eat it as quickly as possible. First break the ration open then eat it fast. Thus it was called breakfast.

I make egg muffins and then freeze them so I have a quick but filling option available.
Also such a great option! I've never frozen them before though - does it thaw out pretty well?
Best option is to put them in the fridge to thaw the night before, then heat (in microwave) wrapped in a damp paper towel.
@@AutumnBates they freeze well and as long as you wrap them in damp paper towel as you heat them they don't dry out and heat evenly

Full fat ricotta has same protein as cottage cheese but twice the fat. I find it very tasty.

You can use one of these recipes as a lunch or break-fast, it really just depends on your food preference at the time!

Breakfast used to be a very quick premade K-Ration type of product during the industrial revolution. Back in the 1880s factory workers in London worked early hours and on into the night. They would typically start work before dawn and then get only 5 minutes to eat their ration at mid morning. You would have crack the metal seal on your ration, then eat it as quickly as possible. First break the ration open then eat it fast. Thus it was called breakfast.
