Oscar that's what Set Barriston the Bold said to the 5 gold cloaks (Sandor Clegane included) when Cersei Lannister retired him after King Robert's death....👍🏻
Let's not forget that Sandor Clegane, The Hound, said that the Trants are known for being bad swordsmen. Even if he had no armor, a badass fighter like he's said to be would've killed Sir Meryn.
@@Boba-Fett-GS1150Ez Wouldn't matter. He would've fought him anyway with same gear... Oberyn was angry man, with will to win, no matter what. Those are scary people.
Swords are garbage in real combat compared to a spear to begin with. They were more or less about prestige and dueling than being truly effective. Historically spears are much more prevalent and effective than swords ever were. They sure like using swords for movies, but spears always were, and always have been, WAY more effective. In reality, even a highly skilled swordman like Jamie's character would lose to someone even remotely skilled with a spear. It's fairly easy to keep someone well out of a swords range with a spear. Due to their length, the tip of a spear can also move incredibly fast with very little movement of the arms. They win in virtually every concievable catagory. Cost, range, expended energy, training time, etc.

Mountain belongs way lower on the list, his fighting skills arent that high, if oberyn had even tried to kill him that fight would have ended way before he would have even gotten a chance to break oberyn's weapon

@@robertenyart9982 I had always hoped that Syrio would have survived and make a re-appearance. Funnily enough, a wooden sword can be nearly as lethal as a metal one against armoured opponents, the thrust to vital points are the killing moves and 'hollywood' has a lot of sins to answer for, my biggest 'roar of, that's BS!' being when the 'hero' slashes his sword across the abdomen of a fully mail clad warrior, no he won't get cut in two, it will 'eff up' the blade and he will smash you towards the ground. Ah, grr and then some more grr'ing. Pax Robert.
gotta appreciate Bronn in that fight against Vardis, he gave chances for people to tap it out, but they compelled vardis with duty and honor, and even at the very end bronn gave the lady a good chance to call it. Which was just sad, Vardis did his duty and even when he clearly lost they let him die anyway.
The only ones who would be able to stop this would be Lysa and Tyrion. Obviously Tyrion would never call it off, as his life is on the line. And well, Lysa wouldn't, because Lysa lived in her own little world, in which everything she does is right. When Tyrion asked to get his gold back, it was effectively Catelyn who reminded Lysa that things don't always go her way just because she wants them to.
Really good points, Josh. Bronn was a killer, but a killer with morals. Remember the interaction between Bronn & Meryn Trant ("We don't want to get blood all over your pretty white cloak" & "You're a grub in fancy armour who likes hitting little girls")
It's alphabetical....that's why he's 1st on every list & that's to Michel PigMountain (Schweinberg)....at least that's what my German translation is telling me...😁👍....Ahh, Ahhh, Achtung Schweinhund...
No one can disagree because he was brought up by everyone whenever the conversation was there as the best swordsman. Ned also said this to Jaime and Jaime is confirmed to be one of the best in history by GRRM.
Ser Arthur Dayne's fight choreography is masterfully done, it perfectly married the fantastical dual wielding of longswords with the real-world styles of two-weapon fighting. While the sword flourishes were more fanciful, they encapsulates the double angle defensive ability of using two weapons, and when he attacks one of the blades is always a feint while the other is the real attack, and each time it's pulled off wonderfully. My favorite moment is by far the kill at 32:28 where the greatest advantage of two-weapon fighting is demonstrated: same-tempo. As in, both the parry and attack are carried out at the same time. Absolutely fantastic scene.
@@TheSavagederek Yeah because it’s complete fantasy bs to dual wield longswords like that, and in a real sword fight no one would be flourishing like that or at all. However, if you consider that this is fantasy and it needs to be spectacular and cinematic, then the choreography could have done a lot worse in the bs compartment, the fact that they’ve included SOME aspects of real dual-weapon fighting is quite commendable. Hell, imagine if his entire fighting style is spinning while T-posing like a human bay blade or something! That’ll be complete and utter nonsense but since it’s fantastic and cinematic it’ll still work for the scene. Essentially, what I’m saying is, if someone tries to use Ser Dayne’s fighting style verbatim, it’s not going to work, at all. However, if you strip away the fantastical elements, then at least there are real dual-wield techniques being incorporated, and that is quite the respectable course of action for the action choreographers.
@@waqstar7067 No shit Sherlock, this is fantasy fighting, but at least it's passably real granted that it's fantasy. You want something totally cinematic and fantastical? Look at the prequel Star Wars duels. Are they badass? HELL YES!! Are they realistic? HELL NO!! If someone tries prequels lightsaber fighting in a sparring match with me I could taken them out in one hit. Similarly, if someone tries to use Ser Dayne's style in a real sparring match I'll just need to stay back for a minute and they'd be out of breath. All I'm saying, if you had taken the time to ACTUALLY READ, is that, despite fake, it at least incorporates aspects of realism instead of just going "MAGIC!! WOO!! FLYING SWORDS!! FLYING PEOPLE!! YIPPEE!!" Would I have been all "FAKE!! FAKE!! UNREALISTIC!! FAKE!!" if the choreography team had decided to go with a far more fantastic approach? No, it's fantasy, set in a fantastical world with dragons, where someone could get their hand chopped off and not die two weeks later from infection, where you can rip someone's face off and wear it as a seamless disguise, why should the fighting have to be realistic? I'm simply appreciating that the team had gone to the effort of including SOME aspects of realism in this fantastical scene. If you're going to just judge something on whether it's real or fake, I won't stop you, but I must say that your life must be SO boring. All black and white with not a single shade of grey in-between, let along 50 shades. My advice? Learn to appreciate the finer details instead of generalizing everything, you'll be a lot less butthurt about everything all the time.
I like how Jon was like fuck this sword I don't need it and beat Ramsey with his fists lol. Ramsey Bolton: "the way the North talks about you, you're the best swordsman who ever walked".
9:07 -- Jon Snow strikes a horse rider's sword or sword hand with his own sword. The horse rider was in full gallop, so he had all the momentum of his body and armor weight at that speed--yet Jon's sword not only knocked him off his horse, but BACKWARDS about ten feet (more than two meters). It looked great though.
It looked shit. You call tell that the guy is pulled backwards, before Jons sword ever connects - he swings and clearly hits nothing but air. Forget the idiocy of the physics, it fell flat already with the visuals.
Jorah Mormont is old and his skills arent sharp anymore, but he fights for a cause so high he defies it all, so devoted he doesnt realize he´s been slain by zombies until there´s a pause to consider his wounds. Syrio Forell is a master, and i read the interesting suggestion that he´s actually the faceless man from Bravoos, this is why he doesnt pick up a real sword from the floor, thats why we dont see him die, and thats why he allegedly soon sits captured in a silly barred wagon on Aryas path, he had it all planned. Obyron is also a true master, what a fight! And Khal Drogo heh, the fact that he says: i already have! before the kill is actually done, says a lot about his confidence, based on his skills...
@@TheKinesiologist1 fairly well. Syrio parries one of Arthur's attacks but Arthur has another sword for attack/defense. I'd say Syrio is on the same skill level as The Hound, as they both easily defeated a group of House guards

In case you don't know barriston selmy defeated prince raegar , the hound ,obaeryn , Robert Baratheon, ser Gregor multiple times in his younger days and many other great warriors in single combat
@@Tamer55361 they were all younger around their early 20’s to late teens during Roberts rebellion and barriston fought for the Targaryens. Robert specifically noted how fiercely barriston fought at the trident and had his doctors save his life and later would make him part of his own kingsguard while barriston was in his 50’s and later 60’s. That’s how he fought other guys like the hound who would later go to kings landing. I’d also guess he fought Obereyn in tournaments since both were pretty prolific fighters but I don’t know for sure but he definitely at least Spared Robert, the hound, and Jamie (he even trained Jamie when he was young) The only people above prime barriston should probably be oberyn and Arthur Dayne, oberyn because he has a spear (a massive advantage against most sword fighters because of range) and he’s highly skilled along with ridiculous athleticism + poison. Arthur dayne is just built different + he has a semi mythical sword named dawn which was cut from the show due to them not doing 99% of the dorne plot so they made Arthur a dual wielder to emphasize his badassery.
The show runners said that when practicing and filming, Kit Harrington ALWAYS went at full speed and full strength! They reported that they never had to tell him to make it look real!
I read that the editing crew was told they had sped up his fight scenes with the sword too much, and they needed to slow it down a bit to make it look more realistic, the editing crew replied, that wasn't sped up, that was the actual fight scene.
- Taking of Gulltown - The THREE battles at Summerhall - Battle of Ashford (defeated but survived) - Battle of the Bells - Battle of the Trident - Siege of Pyke Common, Robert deserves WAAAY more respect as a fighter. Not only was he an absolute beast, but he fought more battles than most of the men on this list. And remember, he was the type to be right in the middle of the action too.. I’m sorry but prime Robert was tougher to kill than 90% of these guys. Top 5 at LEAST
I guess the question (or difference) is that Robert Baratheon might be the type of fighter more so built for large battles than single combat. Versus a bunch of grunts, he's worth 50 other men maybe? But if he actually ends up in a 1v1 with almost anyone on this list, he might just lose due to being too slow. The difficulty we have having watched the show (which may have left out some lore of his past), is how much leaner and quicker war Robert Baratheon in his prime? It seems obvious King Robert at the start of the show, while no slouch in a fight, is not top fighter for years due to being fat. If we are working with Robert in his prime, then why not Barristan Selmy?
For those of us who read the books, Oberyn Martell was a excellent character. It wasn't just that he was a good actor. For about the first seasons game of thrones very closely followed the books. That's what happens when you follow the books!!
Good list. I always wished oberyn would not have died although it was super cool how it happened. He was a really cool character though would have been cool to see him continue on. It was said in an episode that prince oberyn was a legendary fighter.
This is a paper stone scissors issue. Drogo is not sure if he can do something about fully armored The Mountain. The rest he could easily be a thread. Also Oberyn overplays everyone with his spear. We should consider also luck. As khabib said, Connor McGregor could potentially ko him with only one punch, but it was so little chances. If i would bet my money for the best, fully upgraded, and trained to fight the style of his rival, I may go for Oberyn or Dayne. With special mention to Daario Naharis intelligence Edit: on their feet, no throwing weapons, best prime conditions.
The knight was also at a major disadvantage in that fight. They forced him to use Jon Aryn's sword instead of his. Jon's was obviously meant to be wielded two handed whereas the shield using knight normally had a lighter short sword
@@JT-gi8rx didn't remember myself leaving a comment here but still, Drogo has no armor whatsoever, oberyn can use roughly any type of weapon due to his experience in underground fighting (may be wrong with the place), which makes it way too easy to stab Drogo once with a weapon of oberyns choosing and so poisoning him to death. I don't really see a scenario in which Drogo is fast enough to kill oberyn even if he manages to wound him once or two times. I understand this argument doesn't have the depth to it but those are still valid points. as for sir baristan im being simply biased as I haven't seen or heard any feats from him for me to assume he'd be able to defeat the red viper.
@@სკდშ good point about the poison and Drogo having no armour, in that case then yes he would whoop him. Barristan is said to be as good as Arthur Dayne, at least when I’m his prime, so with his armour I think he would crush Oberyn.
@@სკდშ Interestingly enough I disagree with almost everything you've said. Drogo fights against people mainly wielding spears, the sellswords and unsullied alike. I think overall quality of fighting is probably similar to Oberyn's they would fight dirty and be skilled in the spear. Drogo in my opinion would destroy Oberyn in everything, he is a physical specimen one of the strongest, fastest fighters. While I think that Drogo would lose to any of the top knights just because he si really not fight for a battle against someone in an armor. Drogo wields an Arakh it is like a Katana a blade meant for cutting and they really just don't do shit against Armor.
I'm surprised to see Jon Snow so far down the list. Apart from all the battles he fought, even Ramsey Bolton said that Jon was known as the finest swordsman in the land.
the finest swordsman alive he said... and he could even be right at that moment, but you have to understand that mostly everyone placed upper from snow, isn't live anymore durin Ramsay's speech. I agree with this list
I still almost feel bad for Oberyn. He could have easily taken out The Mountain, but he let his need for excessive revenge and his vaingloriousness get in the way and it cost him.
He is # 1, except for his feelings sending him far down the list. Tower would have never admitted to anything, so he should have just sliced him up until he was no more.
In my opinion, this is the best arrangement 1- Arthur Dean 2- Baristen Selmi 3- Oberyn Martell 4-Robert Baratheon 5-Khal Drogo 6-Jon Snow 7- Brienne of Tarth 8- the hound 9-The mountain 10- Jaime Lannister 11-Ned Stark 12- grey worm 13-Bron 14-Tormund 15- Jorah Morment 16- Stannis Baratheon
Despite being more of an assassin than a fighter, Arya in final form deserves a spot on the list. One on one, she would have defeated all of the bottom half I think, if not more. Her training was exceptional, she probably could have beaten the bottom half blindfolded.
And she beat the one nobody else could beat, because of ALL her skills. Cloak, quick and deadly! She may, from ending the #1 antagonist, maybe be the #1 protagonist.
Arya is not a fighter, she is an assassin. She would lose a 1 on 1 with everyone, even your average swordsman. It's like dumb and dumber and their even dumber fanboys, forgot that arya is a little girl. Literally. 155cm tall for 50kg as an adult in the tv show. Meanwhile she starts 9 and then 11 at the end in the books. SHE ISNT BEATING ANYONE my dude. It's literally a little girl and Ned's kids are short compared to many characters, like Sansa and Jon snow, which are around 160cm and 170-178cm tall. Arya in the books is a little 120-130 cm tall and around 35 kg girl. No 11 year old girl is beating any of these fighters. At best she can pull a surprise attack due to her being a little girl. Other than that she gets folded
We saw Sir Arthur Dayne fight exactly one time, and he was about to kill another on this list before being stabbed from behind and change the course of history. Almost identical to Karl the lead Night Watch mutineer, who nearly killed Jon Snow one on one until he was stabbed from behind. Snow also may have been killed by Quorn Halfhand who let him win to save the mission.
After a few years, i completely forget all their name. The only one i remember is Hound and Mountain. The brothers rivalry remind me of of the show Naruto who taunt the younger brother to hate
What about Arya Stark? She checked out off a few names on her list, fought the waif blind, killed the main antagonist (aside from Cersei) the bloody Night King, AND she survived to the end!!! She can replace her dancing instructor. Granted, Syril had some dope moves, but he could’ve danced and dived his way down to one of those knocked out Lannister men, grabbed his sword, and danced his ass to kill Meryl Trant (who Arya killed). Better yet, her pops Ned Stark didn’t do squat but execute a hopeless Crow, who was warning Westeros of things to come. Besides, Ned didn’t defeat Ser Arthur Dayne! He cheated! I know this list is compiled of the best fighters, but let’s add brains in the equation, and Arya needs to be on this list!

Bradley Westerman you might be right I’m rewatching the series for the first time and haven’t gotten to season 6 yet but I love Ned Stark and the Starks in generally but is it bad I kinda wanted Ser Arthur to kill him?

Skill wise the list should be like this: 1) Oberyn Martell 2) Khal Drogo 3) Syrio Forel (he used Meryn to fight yhe whole army. If it was real sword then he would have cut off their head so easily). 4) Jon Snow 5) Jamie Lannister 6) Sandor Clegane 7) Ser Barristen
How is Syrio where he is. That fight was amazing and he was using a wooden sword. He literally would have carved them like a cake with a real sword. It would be really interesting to see a Syrio vs Arthur fight! Can't lie though. That fight with the Hound and Brianne was crazy!
Yeah it seems so obvious. His fighting style doesn't suit a large heavy sword but at least he would have the cutting edge and weight behind it. I went to the nationals in the UK for fencing and missed out being in the Olympic team by 10 places. His comment about swordplay being about seeing is bang on even though it's difficult to see people's faces behind the mask. Fencing is essentially chess on legs and so much of it is psychological. Sorry I know you didn't ask for all this.
#1 Oberyn Martell, If the Mountain wasn't undead, he wins. What choreography. #2 Syrio Forel, If he had a steel sword who knows? #3 Edard Stark. If not cheated, he kills Jamie. #4 Jamie Lannister. Bronn forsure had highest fight IQ in the show. Imo he would have beat any of these fighters on the list cause he knew exactly how to pick his battles and still end up on top unscathed. We saw his iq first displayed against vardis and other times in CQC against lannister soldiers and the hand when readying his dagger. And we cant forget dario cause he just disappeared from the show but was clearly one of the most intelligent fighters
Great list, especially your number 1, who I had totally forgotten about. I half expected Arya to be on this list, but she's not really a fighter, she's an assassin. And I don't think she has even been in a real sword to sword fight. Of course at the Battle of Winterfell, she did pretty well for herself, and even learned to fly.
She dueled with brianne of tarth and won and brianne seemed like she was taking it srs as it went along and arya was dancing around she also showed her talent when killing the night king
If its arakhs, Khal Drogo. If it's greatswords, the Mountain. If it's hammers, Robert Baratheon. If it's knives, Karl Fookin Tanner. If it's mouths, Tormund Giantsbane. If it's groin to groin only combat, Theon Greyjoy.
bronn should be way higher. in the books hes one of the best currently living after oberyn before he dies and after jaime lannister (before he gets his hand cut off)
I have to admit that it's interesting list, i don't agree with it but as you mentioned in the video everyone have their own opinion. My top 10: 10. Jon Snow. I think that this is a good name to open the list. He is clearly very talented with the sword and his overall physics are showing that he is not slow but not super fast, he is not weak but he is not very strong. I'd say he is far above some average fighter, he is not the best warrior in GoT but he is the best warrior amongst the night watch members. I believe that he will some day (some day=after the time of the events of the season 8) reach level of Jaime Lannister but for now he is not even close to him but he is in top 10 for sure. 9. Brienne of Tarth. She is good, big, strong and pretty skilled when it comes down to sword. She has proven herself multiple times and i think enough times to be included in top 10 list. Her biggest flaw is that she is fighting like every average soldier but with more determination but her honorable style of fighting is something too predictable for an experienced warrior. 8. Gregor Cleagane ''The Mountain''. Hmm...What can i say? He is strong very, very strong, he is arguably the strongest person in GoT but that's it i think, he don't have much swordsmanship skills, he is kinda experienced. But yes being strong does mean something if you know how and when to use this strength and i think he knows very well. 7. Sandor Cleagane ''The Hound''. Ruthless, furious and intimidating fighter, The Hound is equal to his brother in my opinion but slightly gets the advantage over him in my opinio 'cause The Mountain is like walking pile of muscles, pure strength and Sandor is like him but smaller + he have some actual skills he is not just overpowering his oponents, his talent with the sword is something that gives him advantage over his brother in my book. Yes Brienne has beaten him but take a note that he was suffering from an infection and was pretty much starved and exhausted. 6. Ser Bronn of the blackwater. One think about Bronn is special and makes me think that he would kill anyone...He is not fighting fair and with honor. If he would have seen that his oponent is starting to winning he would use some of his dirty tricks like his knife from behind his back or start to use surroundigs to his advantage. Vardis wasn't the best swordsman in the seven kingdoms but he was fully armored and was fighting Bronn with shield that gave him more protection...For some time but still Bronn did best him without a scratch and with not much problem at all, also he felt comfortable to fight The Hound and didn't look intimidated to me. 5. Khal Drogo. Well in my opinion he is far from being the best fighter in GoT but for sure the best in Essos. The guy never lost a fight in his life, we only seen him fighting once but that was one of the coolest fight scene i've ever saw and it was very, very impressive. 4. Oberyn Martell ''Red viper''. Prince of Dorne is a highly respected fighter everywhere he goes. To be completely honest he is capable of besting anyone, litearlly anyone. He is master of the spear and highly above average in any other sort of weapon. He practically win the fight win The Mountain, the actual DUEL was finished at the moment he pierced through The Mountain's chest. 3. Ser Barristan Selmy ''The bold''. Arguably the best KNIGHT to ever lived in Westeros. He rescued Aerys from captivity all by himself that sounds pretty badass to me. 2. Ser Jaime Lannister ''The kingslayer''. Of course not with one hand, Jaime in his prime was nearly unstoppable and his skills and talent with sword are close to be legendary. You can argue that Jaime lost to Brienne but he was starved, handcuffed and already held captive for months also fight with Ned looked like they were equal but G.R.R Martin stated that Jaime was better than Ned. I think that even Barristan said that Jaime is better than him and that Jaime is the best naturally talented swordsman he have ever saw. Overall it's kinda controversial one but as i said everyone have there own opinion. 1. Ser Artur Dayne ''The sword of the morning''. i don't think anyone will argue with that one :D This list is just my own opinion and you don't have to agree with that, everyone have their own look and for some Arthur Dayne will be #1 and for some it will be The Mountain or Daario Naharis. It's internet and we are here (here=UA-cam) for entartainment ;)
swap barristan and jaime and you have a good list. Also, you should have said #1 Arthur Dayne with dawn (his sword) without it he would be sharing the first spot with Barristan selmy. Both barristan and arthur are levels above jaime, he doesn't come close to them so putting jamie ahead of barristan is blasphemy
Yes and as a fencer who nearly made it into my countries Olympic team (I missed out at the nationals by 10 places) it is correct. Fencing is chess on legs and lots of it is psychological. It's difficult to see people's eyes through the mask but you get a feel for your opponents strategy. Also that syrio guy should be higher in the list as compared to the hound for example he is nimble and has far better footwork. In fact his footwork is the best out of all on the list and when it comes to swordfighting it's good to keep distance.
Jon might not be the best fighter, but he is a great commander and over all one of the most morally gifted and compassionate characters, he knows what is right and what is wrong and almost nobody in this series seems to know that except from Eddard Stark, Varys and Tyrion, which is why Jon Snow would be a great king. All the other characters are morally flawed in their own way, either sinister, barbaric or driven by their emotions, temptations and affections, but less so by virtue, reason and justice. I haven't read the books but based on how the series depicts the characters this is my opinion. By the way the final was the worst ending I have ever seen, don't be fooled they did that on purpose so people read the books and the real ending will be different.
There are no books past season , 5 or 6 I believe, they have yet to be written. Thats the shame of it, the producers and writers had no guidelines to use. George RR Martin is getting old, who knows if those books will ever even exist.
They ran out of material by the end of season 5. So season 6 and 7 they just invented stuff based on the state of the show and characters. They even added a 1 year hiatus to try to come up with something, and still couldnt get a decent writing. Any fan of the show would have done better.
He wasn't perfect in the books, he was younger than he is in the show and was given to adolescent angst, but in spite of all that he wanted to do the right thing, yes. Most of his inner conflicts were not being sure he *was* doing the right thing.

Arthur Dayne and Barriston Selmy "in his prime" had no equals. Either one of them is capable to easily defeating any two of the other fighters at the same time.

Drogo would have lost. Both as a human and experimented creature, the mountain fought with nothing to loose. That alone is a very dangerous fighting attitude.
I really enjoyed Jorah's fight against the Dothraki fighter -- it's so many shows celebrate that agile hero, but here's Sir Jorah to remind us: "Yeah, this armor is heavy. It slows me down, and it tires me out. Also, *it's fucking armor* "

Oberyn, so naive though. Very good at combat he is. Khal Drogo>The Mountain!
Cost, range, expended energy, training time, etc.

gotta appreciate Bronn in that fight against Vardis, he gave chances for people to tap it out, but they compelled vardis with duty and honor, and even at the very end bronn gave the lady a good chance to call it.

Totally agreed, I did not remembered that his style was at least 80% accurate
Experts have said it's all shite .
Can't even keep up means it's fake

The only people above prime barriston should probably be oberyn and Arthur Dayne, oberyn because he has a spear (a massive advantage against most sword fighters because of range) and he’s highly skilled along with ridiculous athleticism + poison.

Bronn was no coward in his fight, he was just figuring the other knights fighting style so he could counter

He is also a skilled fighter! He proved it when he killed 2 white walkers, defeat Ramsay with a shield and kill one of his man while the man had his sword in his hand and Jon had it in the (I don't know what is called, that thing that hold the sword in your belt)

Barristan was a straight beast, one on one,not many wanted any part of that,SELMY!!!!!!!!!🤘👍🤘
man your list doesn't add up...bt I appreciate Ser Arthur dayne, if he wasn't on that position I would freak
Arya and her trainer should definitely be on this list.
Skill wise the list should be like this:
1) Oberyn Martell
2) Khal Drogo
3) Syrio Forel (he used Meryn to fight yhe whole army. If it was real sword then he would have cut off their head so easily).
4) Jon Snow
5) Jamie Lannister
6) Sandor Clegane
7) Ser Barristen
Jon Snow was just lucky, he lost pretty much every fight he was in them was always saved by someone. Prime jaimie would destroy snow in seconds
Arthur Dayne left the chat
How is Syrio where he is. That fight was amazing and he was using a wooden sword. He literally would have carved them like a cake with a real sword. It would be really interesting to see a Syrio vs Arthur fight! Can't lie though. That fight with the Hound and Brianne was crazy!
It was also pointless and they made Brienne a bit too overpowered. In no way Brienne can smack Hound down.
Maybe the first sword of braavos should have picked up one of the many swords on the floor
@@oskahuxley6322 this was actually very insightful
@@uzs1333 thank you
Grey Worm should be a lot higher on the list in my opinion. He was in a lot of fights, and should have died multiple times, but didn't
If Khal drogo was in Westeros with some armor, havoc would ensue
The armour would have to be light, as he would not want to be weighed down with 80+lbs of plate armour. He had only fought with basically no armour.
#1 Oberyn Martell, If the Mountain wasn't undead, he wins. What choreography. #2 Syrio Forel, If he had a steel sword who knows? #3 Edard Stark. If not cheated, he kills Jamie. #4 Jamie Lannister. His fight with Brianne of Tarth was when he was not at his best. #5 Brianne, simply awesome. #6 Sandor Clegane, never quits. Great video, thanks!
Putting Bronn at #14 is a crime.
Batchy ikr he is a very great fighter and thinks
He was losing in a 1v1 fight to a random dothraki tho. Then had to hide in the shed and surprise attack with the scorpion.
@@DivineAtheistWannabe
That's why he should be higher. He's a very tactical fighter and fights with anything and everything at his disposal, which is how he managed to kill that dothraki (who was armed and on a horse at the time while Bronn was unarmed and had just fell off his horse) dispite being st such a disadvantage and shoot Dany's dragon. He wouldn't beat the likes of Oberyn or the Mountain (as he proves by refusing to fight against the Mountain for Tyrion) but he should definitely be higher than #14
@@j3omega you mean to say he is a good strategist not fighter he is a good fighter just not as good as most on the list
@@j3omega Oberyn lost spear this is dead hoplomacus on gladiator arena Cercei made a deal with Bronn to not fight for Tyrion he would beat anyone 1 vs 1
Everyone always put Bronn on the mud, in the series he is shown to be one of the smartest/most cunning fighters. Sure face to face isn't his forte but he has the best kill scene in the series (Battle of the Blackwater, just after saving The Hound)
I honestly think he’s always way underrated, he could’ve absolutely beat Ned, and Maybe even someone way more skilled like the Hound. You don’t get to be a sell sword that old without being a really mean dude.
@@teutonicknight23 I think Hound low diffs Bronn. Bronn is a cunning fighter but Sandor has such a huge experience and skill lead on him, while being stronger and faster. Bronn could only win if he fought with a short and light sword with a dagger as a surprise to the hound. But in Armor and in 1v1 I don't see Sandor losing even once out of 100. I'm just being realistic by the way. Same as how Jaime would probably beat everyone else, according to Ned Jaime is almost as good as Sir Arthur Dayne probably the most talked about swordsman and the best swordsman ever in history.
@@mikeoath9541 It would have to be a good day for Bronn for sure, but it is possible, I do think that everyone way underrates Bronn as a Fighter, He definitely could take on Jorah and would be a match for someone like Jon.
Bronn was good. He beat that guy in front of the deep hole. I was impressed.
Learned to fly lol
My thoughts EXACTLY.
The faceless man #JaqenHghar I thought might be on the list.
@iamskippy, no one can beat a faceless man at the top of their game, so obviously #1 on the list.
😂😂😂
bronn should be way higher. in the books hes one of the best currently living after oberyn before he dies and after jaime lannister (before he gets his hand cut off)
I have to admit that it's interesting list, i don't agree with it but as you mentioned in the video everyone have their own opinion.
My top 10:
1. Ser Artur Dayne ''The sword of the morning''. i don't think anyone will argue with that one :D
This list is just my own opinion and you don't have to agree with that, everyone have their own look and for some Arthur Dayne will be #1 and for some it will be The Mountain or Daario Naharis. It's internet and we are here (here=UA-cam) for entartainment ;)
very good list in my opinion but could also include Qhorin Halfhand of the Night's Watch and possibly Tormund or Thoros of Myr
The bold not the bald
@@trifondanov8404 Corrected ;) Sorry my bad
swap barristan and jaime and you have a good list. Also, you should have said #1 Arthur Dayne with dawn (his sword) without it he would be sharing the first spot with Barristan selmy. Both barristan and arthur are levels above jaime, he doesn't come close to them so putting jamie ahead of barristan is blasphemy
Finally someone that knows GoT lore. Most of these people in the comments are ridiculous lol
The advice of Syrio Forel at 11:29 helped Arya finishing the Night King
Yes and as a fencer who nearly made it into my countries Olympic team (I missed out at the nationals by 10 places) it is correct. Fencing is chess on legs and lots of it is psychological. It's difficult to see people's eyes through the mask but you get a feel for your opponents strategy. Also that syrio guy should be higher in the list as compared to the hound for example he is nimble and has far better footwork. In fact his footwork is the best out of all on the list and when it comes to swordfighting it's good to keep distance.
actually it was the facelessmen
Thatvwas just stupid... The whit king just kept on seeing arya flying and coming at him,, he didnt even move an inch.... Such a ppity that scene was!

The problem is so many of these men were past their prime during GOT. Its hard to judge.

Brienne of tarth will always be one of my favorite characters of the whole show. She showed them men she could fight with the best of them!
Of course you're a woman...
It annoyed me they placed Jamie higher than Brienne, she beat him in his clip and she couldn't fight properly not being able to kill and badly injure. She wouldn't want to have to carry him, or especially kill him.
@@keithadoodle Well if we’re going by the book, Jamie is better than her. Jamie in the book was known as one of the best swordsmen, but for some reason in the show they pretend like he wasn’t.
