I am not a streamer but have a streamer like setup on a combined programming workstation / sim rig for remote work/meetings, with Nvidia Broadcast feeding an actually good image to OBS Studio. Also have Elgato and Hue lights with a Streamdeck XL for control and start-up macros. Oh and a UR22 and SE -X condenser. It works well for my meetings, but you wouldn't use that for streaming games - NB forces my 3070 to ~1700mhz, when rendering graphics (iRacing) I have it at 2ghz. So I've created Streamdeck macros to shut down NB/OBS to let my GPU power save, so as not to die prematurely. Before I started using NB I noticed the Streamcam having severe auto exposure issues when not using the crappy bloated Logitech software. The manual EV steps were like giant leaps too. (OBS Studio + Nvidia Broadcast + the Elgato bits is an amazing set-up for remote work; I love having control over scenes and audio muting with my Streamdeck. Disregarding the false marketing, the big problem with these cheap/casual/beginner webcams is that smartphones exist. If you have a tight budget, even an old flagship or a new midrange smartphone will have a better camera, connectivity, and utility. That's why he's so critical. It's not about whether this fits game streamers. It's the value proposition. Webcams cost almost as much as secondhand phones that do way more AND have a better camera. @@chrisw5742 That would be to big of a form factor, sony has shown the rx0 could be a good option form factor wise. Actually even an aps-c with a samyang 12mm f2 or equivalent would be more than enough I think.
First off, massive hat tip for being honest and telling it as you see it. I hope Logitech takes this criticism to heart and not as a slight. I was hoping you'd cover this camera and I'm glad I just stuck to picking up an A5100 instead. It's quite disappointing and I'm quite shocked by the way they're marketing this. It surprises me a great deal, with all of their experience with gaming peripherals, how Logitech is so behind the streaming market. The C920 is a great starter cam for anyone looking to jump in for the first time but streamers, even serious hobbyists like myself, don't care about having something compact. I'd even pay $200 for a good webcam designed for streaming.
3:15 The term that you're looking for is called focus breathing. It's when the image "zooms in/out" as the lens focuses. Happens because the glass elements have to move to focus the image, but at the same time, can also magnify.
Fantastic review. Your story telling and comparisons were excellent. This is why it is worth looking for a review before buying it. And this is how you win trust of viewers. Kudos
Hello, I am using ZOOM for video conferencing: 1) what webcam can you recommend that works best with ZOOM? I am looking for webcam that has autofocus and HD video... 2) is there a webcam that comes with capability to replace the background without a green screen or should I rather buy and install only some additional software? Thank you in advance for your answers.
Brilliant review man! Every point whether good or bad backed up with so much - really appreciate your efforts in making this. I was fascinated by the Canon EOS R comparison!
So if not this webcam for streaming, which one? StreamCam or Brio? And if neither, which other make do you suggest? I am looking for best of the budgets for youtube. Thanks xxx
*Hello best of the best, important question! Do you really think it's better to give up the chromakey when shooting a video and create a background behind you?*
I want the simple integration of a webcam with the lens choice and image quality of a micro 4/3rds. No mic, no hdmi that needs conversion, no flash, no lcd, no complicated on body controls, no battery. Just a USB C port (not integrated cable), a status light, a threaded tripod connector, and a lens mount. Think E1 by Z but lose the lcd, the battery and the onboard storage. Just a damn box with a usb C port, image sensor and lens mount IS THAT SO FRICKIN HARD? Control the rest of it on the PC, storage right to the pc. Essentially a "Studio Camera" for youtubers!
ur comments on the Cons & real footage of this cam make me subscribe to ur channel. I respect youtubers who really voice out the truth of the products they review. Well Done!
Hey Harris, what kind of lighting setup do you use. It looks pretty good. Do you have some tips on right lighting and background for videoconferencing? Thanks.
I think it's time for a new up and comer to arrive on the market with the features we want in a a PC streaming cam that's built specifically for gamers/youtubers.
I think having the microphone on isn't a bad idea. having a sound reference from the video to the external audio is really handy rather than lip reading to see where to align the audio. Otherwise, agree with everything else you mentioned.
Thanks for your videos but where do I go from here. I want a camera for less than £100. The c920 from new is now between £80-£120 depending where I buy from. I don't mind buying a used one but wouldn't buy used online. Would you recommend the streamcam over a c920 or a go pro with cam link?👍🏼
Thanks for the frank and honest review. I nearly bought a Logitech StreamCam. I hate misleading advertising. I will avoid Logitech altogether from now on.
I have to stream the college classes I teach; that is one reason why a "streamer" might want the framing feature that follows their face. Also, I'm glad it doesn't give that beautiful blurred background because I will want remote students to see the powerpoint slides and notes on the board behind me. I know this isn't the streaming content you are referring to, but it's a type if streaming that really requires a camera like this.
I'm guessing this camera would be great for people that use Avatars and just need a good camera for facial tracking, you don't need the wider angle lens shot. Also I think you focused too much on the advertising. Every company does stuff like that. As long as it does what they say it does who cares really.
I bought this camera on a whim when I was looking for a new headset and figured it was time to replace my Microsoft almost 15-year-old WebCam. I'm really not impressed with the stream cam for number of reasons. I'm operating in older computer. So I ordered a PCI card for the back of it and figured that would get rid of the clicking sound I'm getting on the audio but it didn't make a difference. And honestly I can't see much of a difference between my old camera and the new one so it's going back to the store. Thanks for your review. I enjoyed it and I enjoyed your opinions of some of the other WebCams.
You just saved me $150 thanks. Looking more for another option for webcam... Great video. Only thing you didn't include was audio from the camera, but you are so right about audio and I can see why you did not. I was on the fence and you firmly have me with money back in my pocket thanks... Great review
I want 3 Basic things. 1- Better FOV or lens system 2- Bigger or Better sensor 3- Clean HDMI (with USB option at lower settings is acceptable) If one of these phones with Leica cameras gets better USB bandwidth (Or HDMI output) that can stream then webcams are done. I still have a C920 because the Brio is almost as much as a used full frame camera. I am saving for a A5100 or SL2 + the required goodies because the streamer camera market is vastly untouched.
Hey I just stumbled upon your channel and I really appreciate all the work you put in! What do you think is the best overall cam between the C920, C922 and this Streamcam?
Thank you for this review, I bought one a week ago and am just waiting for delivery... so, of course, your review posted after I ordered one. I'm still hoping it works ok. I have to use a cam for online education and I thought this would be a good choice. We'll still see. I do appreciate your reviews... extremely well done! Thank you! Did they really fake that nice bokeh image? That's false representation, isn't it? Wow...
What a tremendously honest review!! Bravo, I am not in the market for a webcam as I just use my XT-3, but for convenience sake a webcam that looks halfway decent for $100-$200 would make setup a whole lot easier as I often take the camera setup I have up and down multiple times a week which does get old. Logitech has to be scratching their heads on this and I bet with this review that you lit a fire in someone's cubicle. The 23 downvotes that are currently seen are all from the logitech streamcam team.
Was curious to what they changed from the BRIO, and from the looks of it there is no need to go from my BRIO to the new StreamCam. Thank you very much for the in-dept review.
I *just* bought a Logitech Brio, a week ago.. on sale for about $160. I almost went into buyers remorse, when I saw the "StreamCam" advertisements, on Feb. 11. This puts my reservations to rest! Really looking forward to using the Brio's 4K image quality! It does seem to require brighter lighting to use, but should be OK for me. Thanks!
Hey man. I want to say thank you ! Yea i know using a real camera like A6000 is way much better i was going to order this one because at this moment im using a cheap one. You opened my eyes, you opened my eyes for many things and that help me a lot ! I would like to keep watching you ! Its 2:36 AM and since 2 hours and half i watch video after video with your advises.
It’s 2021. We have cameras in our phones that can shoot 4K 60p or up to 8k in some cases, on sensors that aren’t that much bigger than that which you see in almost every webcam on the market. We have compression tech that can give you gorgeous footage without massive file sizes and that allows the streaming of said footage without buffering. So why in 2021, do webcams still look the same as they did 10 years ago. We have the technology to make them better and cheaply. So why don’t we.
Incredibly helpful video although I watched it too late! The last point you made about the depth of field is exactly the marketing ploy that I fell for. I decided I wanted a new webcam when I did a call with someone who had a very shallow DOF which was really impressive. As you point out with the photograph of the girl with the blurry background in their marketing material, I did indeed expect to be able to achieve that with this camera. I know in some ways the clarity of the images on the other side of the room was impressive for a webcam - but it isn't what I wanted. As yu say, they didn't make any written claims about DOF so I suppose their marketing isn't technically false advertising, but it's getting pretty close! Also, what does it say about what they think of their own product that they don't even use it much in their advertising! Clearly they know people will be more inclined to buy it if it has features they aren't actually offering! Not a great vote of confidence by them for their own product! Thanks for a great video - wish I had watched it before I bought the camera!
What are you thoughts? Still gonna buy it? Or is the marketing issue enough to turn you off?

Have you used the application "Logitech G Hub"? You're able to save the settings there, then close it out. When you open your stream software the settings should push over.
@@RobRoy316 is right - this is the best workaround. Sometimes I have to disable GHub Control and re-enable g-hub control but then it snaps back into place everytime.
I've tried saving the setting to turn off "Low Light Compensation" in SLOBS and it doesn't work. Tried the G Hub and it doesn't save it either 😭
Really glad I watched this video as I was meant to be buying one today. So for around this price range, what do you recommend? It is a shame I can't use my canon g7x mk2 as that is just collect dust.
I appreciate the LOTR reference. Thank You
This is the most honest review I have seen in a long time
Thank you
I just did this same review over on my channel....glad I’m not losing my mind over here with them dropping this garbage camera with no advances in what streamers really want.....all a marketing gimmick.
Amazing review of the new webcam, Harris!!! I also have the c920 and a cheap one from amazon that I'm using, which are decent, but I'm always looking for possible upgrades in the future. You look really tired though... I hope you are getting enough sleep!!!
Finally the end of the C920 🙌
Great content 👍
Henry does not really it’s ok, but like it’s pretty meh
Love your videos man, every time I watch one I feel like we can trust the information you give and that you aren't giving us fake info, Keep it up man!
They should really release a 1inch sensor or more.
OMG I just said full frame sensor and one I can put c mount lenses on. K mount for my Pentax lenses would be better because I have filters also.
@@chrisw5742 That would be to big of a form factor, sony has shown the rx0 could be a good option form factor wise. Actually even an aps-c with a samyang 12mm f2 or equivalent would be more than enough I think.
@@OfficialEthern1ty I know but I like to dream lol A cinema worthy webcam.
There's no way we're going to see a 1inch sensor in a webcam, unfortunately. Would be nice, that's for sure.
@@coldblackice there is a small market for 1inch sensor. A rx1 style webcam is totally feasible.
Didn't really expect much after seeing spelling errors on the Swedish site. Thanks for the honest review.
when it says 9 seconds
I love how blunt you are with your reviews, no bullshit straight facts.
3:15 The term that you're looking for is called focus breathing. It's when the image "zooms in/out" as the lens focuses. Happens because the glass elements have to move to focus the image, but at the same time, can also magnify.
ive never actually seen someone dislike something from a company that was given to them directly, and i love it
Fantastic review.
Honest and quick review, thank you so much, I almost bought that camera and after watching this I changed my mind. Thank you again. !!
Excellent video. What webcam would you recommend for business Teams/Zoom calls.
Brilliant review man! Every point whether good or bad backed up with so much - really appreciate your efforts in making this. I was fascinated by the Canon EOS R comparison!
0:33 Harris has been a huge inspiration to me and I have been tearing through his videos, but a LOTR reference? Oh my.
So if not this webcam for streaming, which one? StreamCam or Brio? And if neither, which other make do you suggest? I am looking for best of the budgets for youtube. Thanks xxx
The new logo is so awesome! I love your new intro compared to the last one.
*Hello best of the best, important question! Do you really think it's better to give up the chromakey when shooting a video and create a background behind you?*
Love the honesty and how thorough you are with your research (i.e. the sketch advertising) - awesome review!
The variable zoom is helpful for videos recording in general, so I'm glad that feature was brought up in this video.
ur comments on the Cons & real footage of this cam make me subscribe to ur channel. I respect youtubers who really voice out the truth of the products they review. Well Done!
What cámara are you using to take this video?? Bc honestly I love how great it looks
Hey Harris, what kind of lighting setup do you use. It looks pretty good. Do you have some tips on right lighting and background for videoconferencing? Thanks.
THAT NEW INTRO ANIMATION IS AMAZING, SLEEK, AND MINIMALISTIC
I LOVE ITTT
I'm subscribing because of this video. I love honest reviews. Even though you didn't show enough footage from the webcam either ;)
Thanks for the frank and honest review. I nearly bought a Logitech StreamCam. I hate misleading advertising. I will avoid Logitech altogether from now on.
I was actually looking at this cam today on logitechs website, and then i see this video posted and im super glad i watched it. Thanks Harris.
Great review. Refreshing to hear some honesty in a review!! Thanks.
this was such a great review! I really hope Logitech changes that ad, or just completely recalls this camera.
Does the steamcam zoom? Also the 5ft cable length might be an issue. Wondering if there is a solution to this? great video thanks for posting!
*help* This may be a stupid question, but can you use it for zoom meetings? Or is it somehow only for streaming??
You just saved me $150 thanks. Looking more for another option for webcam... Great video. Only thing you didn't include was audio from the camera, but you are so right about audio and I can see why you did not. I was on the fence and you firmly have me with money back in my pocket thanks... Great review
I want 3 Basic things.
1- Better FOV or lens system
2- Bigger or Better sensor
3- Clean HDMI (with USB option at lower settings is acceptable)
If one of these phones with Leica cameras gets better USB bandwidth (Or HDMI output) that can stream then webcams are done.
I still have a C920 because the Brio is almost as much as a used full frame camera. I am saving for a A5100 or SL2 + the required goodies because the streamer camera market is vastly untouched.
Now that we're on the subject of camera quality.
Your video is superb. Well edited, great info and extremely well presented
Hey I just stumbled upon your channel and I really appreciate all the work you put in! What do you think is the best overall cam between the C920, C922 and this Streamcam?
Great video man!! Need more guys like you that really care of your subs 🔥👊
Great vid/review. It helped me walk away from this camera. I need a low/mid/pro budget web cam. What are your recommendations ?
Thank you for this review, I bought one a week ago and am just waiting for delivery... so, of course, your review posted after I ordered one. I'm still hoping it works ok. I have to use a cam for online education and I thought this would be a good choice. We'll still see. I do appreciate your reviews... extremely well done! Thank you! Did they really fake that nice bokeh image? That's false representation, isn't it? Wow...
Hi! How have you liked it so far ? Any updates ?!
What camera and lense are you using to get the great background blurr?
Thanks for the amazing helpful video. PS, this is my first time discovering you and i am in love with your content! Great Work!
Good video, thank you for the clarification.
So my question is, should i buy it or maybe the c920hd?
I found your commentary insightful and helpful as I am in the market for a webcam. Thanks!
Great review, and nice that you go into all details, even the marketing part.
