What's your favorite new feature here?
6 hours ago... this video just came out 😱
The Mic :)
Anti-Clipping and the digital mixer. Its gonna be dope
Molten He uploaded the video six hours ago, left this pinned comment, and told UA-cam not to publicize the video until just now.
Is it officialy out now?
Can we for a moment just thank Harris, he makes good content and makes copyright free music he is just an absolute hero.
YESSSS
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Harris is awesome.
Amen to that bruhther
If we are honest for a moment. He is too fucking good for us.
Let's be honest, major kudos to Elgato for actually listening to user feedback
@LordDebino They're*
After testing, this does work with XLR mics. I have my Shure running through my rodecaster pro. Then I use the source tab to add the rodecaster pro to the Wave 3 program. I then press the mute button ontop of the wave 3 so that it doesnt interfere with the sound quality. If you use obs, do not put your mixer as a device, put another wave 3 input with the Wave Stream Link selection. You can still add the wave mic to OBS by adding another device as Mic Input (Wave 3). Just label them differently so you don't get confuse and be sure to mute your mixer in OBS and mute the wave 3 mic either in your program or by pressing the phyiscal button on top. If you don't you will get a echo from both mics being captured.
Hey, do you happen to know if you need to plug your headphones into the mic for the mixer to work? Or can you also plug your headphone straight into your desktop / amp?
@sgt cakes You sure? The customer support said something else .. ):
Thanks for that info!
It honestly sounds like what the market needs is a more user-friendly, streaming focused Voicemeeter for those that don't want to learn Voicemeeter.
or are sick of the mess that windows+voicemeeter brings! ever had to fix every sound source right before streaming because windows had an update?
@@flaviozancarli5273 YES. Voicemeeter breaks in some way literally 25% of the times I open it. I don't even bother at this point.
right. voicemeter broke my brain when i set it up and now i don't know how to fix it if it resets.
Voice meter has never broke for me the update to Windows 10 2004 did not break my sound
@@keeng Voicemeter gave me bluescreens everytime i changed settings.
I wish this software was available without needing the mic. Very useful to have.
Use voicemeeter potato, it does everything and more! I don't know why is he praising the app that much!
Voicemeter Banana, will achieve what you want. In fact it is the light blue app interface he has behind the main window in this video.
@@MommeSherif Because it is not as bloated and complicated as Voicemeeter. Also the simple fact that Elgato thought to properly label the inputs and outputs so you don't have to remember the ridiculous label scheme is a huge plus. It will be much easier to reset vs. Voicemeeter when windows does an update and resets your app audio settings.
@@V0L4T1L3 but voice banana have also lot of trouble and crash
@@V0L4T1L3 only potato does that, and it's not what he had.
Lets be real: the mic didn’t kill anything, the software did. I wish I could just buy their software and use my own Mic because the Elgato one just sounds average
From my phone, it sounded the same as the HyperX, and SLIGHT improvement over the Blue. Without the software, that alone wouldn't sell it.
afaik its free to download and should be useable with any other mic out there.
@@dayumcraig7657 it only works with wave, i tried it a little bit ago myself with my Yeti
@@MistaGrant are you sure you can't mess with the windows sound devices settings to make it work? I managed to use a usb mic with the goXLR that way (I think I set the "listen" feature of the mic to the chat mic input, or something like that)
@@MistaGrant can you use it for everything but the mic? I'm fine If other mics don't work with it I just want all the other functionality it has so I don't have to fuck around with voicemeeter which is way too complicated and you need those virtual cables to do everything this can
i've had the wave 3 for almost a year and i just found this video. never new i could do all of this! now i really want a stream deck to mess with volumes and effects easier! thanks so much bro. all of your old and new videos have helped me improve so much! especially with your stream elements widget creating video! i only had some trouble making the browser source for the stream elements widgets visible on SLOBS. Either or, thank you!
Im so hyped learning so much from this video. I have watched this post a year ago. This video was fairly new at the time. I was not financially able to buy anything back then. It was just a dream. Today, I will be streaming with my new setup. Will try to put everything together and see how it goes. Thank you, Harris.
Definitely need to pick this up now! Can't ever have too many mics I guess! The interface is super clean and seem's easy to use even for beginners. Too bad they won't open that up for any type of mic.
Without the software the mic isn’t all that hot, so how would it sell?
your not kidding, I wish they would
Well they did with the new Wave XLR XD
Drinking game: Take a swig every time Harris says GoXLR.
Everyone is wasted by the 5 minute mark.....haha
you want us to DIE?!
Wonder how many thousands he gets for each time he name drops it 😂
Great video. I appreciate that you was/are involved in this product. It's nearly exact that missing microphone I look for my livestreams from piano and all content with audio included.
I'm very excited @elgato. Thanks
Greetings from Digitaly and Germany
I’ve been watching you for about 8 months just waiting for you to blow up and hit a million subscribers. I don’t know how you haven’t. You have better content than most people who have one mil! Shocked you haven’t hit it yet! UA-cam should start recommending your videos to more people!
I'm literally in awe in the fact that Elgato listened to Harris's feedback.

Ahhhh I was pumped for this till I saw no compression/eq built in, main reason I use the GoXLR. I’ll be sure to keep up with it, hope they add that!
Is it hardware or software compression/EQ?
Odd to see you here, Yub.
If you have a GOXLR why get a USB mic?
I just bought one and I’ve never made a single video or stream 😬 this guys sales tactics...
I was not expecting you to be here favorite youtuber!
Damn bro! I have only seen two videos of you and I am hooked already.
Well structured, well articulated, no weirdo video editing and most importantly, extremely informative.
I've ordered my Wave 3 and only now am I watching reviews. Your video has got me so hyped for this mic, now that you have educated me on what it's truly capable of, especially with that software!
I’d love to see how to hook this up and make it work on a dual and single computer set up! Love the video man!

Hi Harris, just want to say I'm a big fan of what you are sharing. I started my channel a couple of months back (not this account, so you don't think I'm trying to plug my own new channel) and I love how you set everything up. I actually can't get it to your level yet but one day, I will. This mic you are sharing is AWESOME. I'm using a Blue Yeti which I bought 6 years ago (collected dust mostly for 5 years) and it does what it needs to do... but holy crap, this mic is awesome. Please keep doing what you do, I'm learning a lot from the Stream Doctor.
Thank you for this video. You are so easy to understand. I appreciate how you elaborate on features and settings to explain how they work and provide relevant examples.
I heard $160 and I was like “pretty cool.” Then checked my Australian store and it was like $290😳
it should be around $235 AUD
Johnlongears everything cost a lot more in Australia
Not just talking about the currency exchange

Dude love the intro and unboxing! Always outdoing yourself, keep up the great work!
love your work, man! great mic reviews broken down in plain non-tech (but still technical) terms. THANK YOU!
The goxlr company can't even figure out how to have the goxlr app minimize on startup...
That is a minor annoyance of mine too.
@@AnthonyGoodley how are you verified. you have 800 subs. like what?

They say that's gonna be correct at the next update.
But no date at this day.

You need to set output to All, and then ratio's will stay the same like when you move it with mouse.
Awesome review! Thank you so much. I've been looking for a GoXLR option, and this may be it for the lower end. Very helpful!
Subscribed finally. Really dig your channel and super helpful. You keep things simple which is nice for a beginner. You can tell you really REALLY like this Mic. I have a really small set up and I thought I had everything figured out until I watched this vid.
It's time for TC-Helion (GoXLR) to step up a notch and bring more to its software. I bought the goXLR because it was hardware and the faders and sampler are easy to use. But the software is lacking lots of options. The latest updates was only for streamdeck integrations.
Rhovaniax will the GoXLR compress the inbound chat audio? Some people are loud or quiet and I need massive compression leveling them out for my tinnitus
I just bought this hopefully makes me sound clearer than the yeti I’m gonna do a comparison video on it
Thanks for the showing a good example of mic test, ordered a wave 3 today.
I got to say, I just started watching your videos because Im trying to learn more about streaming and oh my goodness!! I am beyond impressed by the content you make. I need you to keep this up and thank you for all of the videos you have made!
For a 2 PC setup, you could plug the Wave into the streaming PC and connect line out from the gaming PC to the line in on the streaming PC. Should be able to use noise gates and other filters in OBS like that. I assume it would work because in the video you showed you can add line in on the faders. Thoughts?
Interesting, I can’t wait til someone tries it
But in this case you can't use the chat game, because if you set the chat channel on the gaming pc, coming from the line in, the people in game chat will hear also obs and other sound from the streaming pc, i think
00:36 When her boyfriend is uncircumcised...
Yoo! 😂😂
Thanks for the in-depth review of this Harris! I was looking into getting the Wave 3 but was unsure if it was worth the price. This pretty much sold me on it!
Excellent video explaining the software! Really enjoyed it.
If I could have asked for more it would be a more critical analysis of the actual microphone. It was a little brief and while I know you have to keep the video a certain length, some comparison like you did with your USB Mic guide vid would have been great to know. Things like the finish, weight, raw sound ect. Additionally it would be nice to know if there are any other differences between the Wave 1 and Wave 3.
Still a great video and got me really thinking about buying one of these waves!
If I’ve got a usb headset that’s plugged into my streaming PC, am I still able to receive the headset output through my headset and direct the stream output through OBS?
Would you still recommend this over the samson g track pro that you rated best in class in your usb mic comparison video? I am in desperate need of a new mic and am curious how they stack up against each other
Same question but I thinking we will wait for a while to find out :(
These videos are so well done and detailed, I just cancelled my go xlr mini because all i wanted was audio adjusters and i would have still had to buy a mic and everything but now i get to do what i wanted originally with the stream deck and i get a mic upgrade. thanks so much for the info great vids!
Thank you Harris for making what looks to be an overwhelming task (i.e. streaming) much simpler for the layman. Hats off to you sir.
RIP the people who bought 12 goxlrs and price gouged them on eBay
Hello !!!!! Hopefully I can get a response. This is my first time doing this. I wanted to know if you manage your platforms and stream alone or if you have a management team? Also, what are the task that they do and how do they help improve your platform? Thank you for your videos! My brother has been streaming for sometime and I want to help him turn it into a full time gig. Your videos are great!!!
the intro section looks crisp and slick as hell!
I just want to say thank you Dr. Harris for provided us on information and demonstration on how to make our stream better I appreciate you so much on making this channel keep up the amazing work 👍🏿
This a a fantastic option for people who already don’t have a go xlr, and haven’t gone down the xlr mic road. Glad to see there are more options.
Goxlr quality with an xlr mic is still going to win out and I don’t see that changing. However goxlr with a usb mic inputted into it via 3.5mm is not a direct upgrade maybe now that this is released. If nothing else having options too not have too jump at a goxlr until you have more income coming in from streaming is pretty awesome imo and a great step forward for the streaming community.
Clifton Harris yea I wouldn’t buy it for that much it’s wayyyyy over priced. I think this is definitely a good option to improve your sound experience on stream for your viewers at a much cheaper price.
I love those cinematic shots at the beginning o:
Quite well featured and comprehensive microphone and software. I'm actually quite impressed by it. A question, did you try anything to gain match the mics during comparison?
And if I may... VST is actually the plugin technology develoved by Steinberg that is now common among DAWs. What you actually mean is just plain 'audio plugin inserts' implementation, either native(Elgato made plugins that will only work in this mic app), VST plugins(made by hundreds of plugin developers and supported by most audio related apps) or Audio Units(Apple's propriety audio plugin integration also made by many plugin developers). VST also has a VSTi implementation which is VST Instruments or virtual instruments.
Read the title and thought “WHHHAAAAATTT?” I’ve been waiting for the GoXLR price gouging to go down to get one but now I might not have to?
Let the Wave 3 price gouging begin!!!
Since Elgato came up with this cheaper alternative to GoXLR, the price on the GoXLR will most likely go down to compete with Elgato's release
To me the point of the goxlr is still what makes it better because if you want to change volume you have to tab out and then adjust it then tab back in, with the goxlr you can just reach over and set the fader or you can just click a profile which I think is 100% easier
the cheapest I've seen is 999.99 lol
@@ToastySucks yupp i got the mini for 220 but i may have to see what happens to the original in terms of price. i wouldnt mind adding that on the desk as well. 8 volume sliders lol
I feel like there wasn't enough emphasis placed upon one major difference. That would be that whereas the GoXLR does most, if not all, of the audio processing using dedicated hardware the Wave does everything within software.
For some this likely wouldn't matter much if at all. Like those using a 2 PC setup or those with kick ass performance level specs. For others doing more in software could be an issue where they are gaming and streaming from the same PC. Especially ones who's PC already are being pushed hard and put away wet each steam.
For the price this Wave USB mic does bring a lot to the table and many, many will turn to it I'm sure.
Hmm, little did I know how many relevant videos you already have pertaining to this subject I'm trying to figure out. Good thing I stumbled across your account a few days ago and subscribed lol
I bought this because of the Wave Link but I didn't quite understand how to use it. Thanks so much for explaining everything this easy. I'm so hyped to use it!!!
Damn sold out everywhere. Anyone know where we can find one for retail price?
The wave sounds so much better to me, damn it's a great value mic
Thanx 4 the info. You just made my decision easier I’m getting the Wave 3😎👌

Congrats on 500k subs dude!!!
Fantastic review! I've been holding off on purchasing a microphone but the Wave seems like a perfect fit for my situation.
Hey Harris, do you recommend upgrading to that from a blue yeti?
i may not be Harris but it depends if you want the new features, if so then yes, personally i use a goxlr mini cause i like physical faders but it's personal preference
Wondering the same thing
@@ThePatmanGaming if you want the features like sub mix, etc, yes upgrade, but just for audio quality, no
If you think that those features are worth the $130 or $160 then yea i guess. Like others have said the software is similar to voicemeter so it doesn’t seem like it’s something that you need. It’s just something you would buy if you don’t have a standalone mic yet
Could they make the Wave software that works with any mic so that I can use my blue yeti and control audio levels easier then using virtual cables and voicemeter banana. With this I could change the volume of my game versus my discord.
Sorry but that wouldnt happen ever
@@Mike_hawk3 I mean they kind of just did it. with the wave XLR this is now possible.
I’m so proud of you harris. You always put the most effort into anything you do for us. CONTENT
An awesome video as per usual, Harris. 😁 👌
I've been listening to this entire video with in-ear headphones and I have to say that in comparison to the other competitor USB mics, the audio from the Wave 3 sounds so good! To my ears, it sounds clean and crisp whilst also sounding quite a bit fuller & richer. 👌 😁
Cheers to you, my man! 🍻
Just looked for the wave 3 on Amazon. Already 359 dollars.
damn those mics sound almost exactly the same
Not a streamer, but I needed a new mic for gaming and decided on this. Good videos. also got my streambeats poppin in the background rn. cheers.
There is one more advantage the GoXLR has and that is specifically for console streamers: it can receive audio directly from the console via optical cable. That feature alone was what put it on my radar back when you started talking about the GoXLR. The Wave is a great product for people starting out (and coming out just as I started convincing my missus to stream with me!). I don't foresee this replacing the GoXLR for anyone who already has it but I think Blue might have to step it up now. The Yeti has a formidable challenger now.
Harris, don't take this the wrong way, you were in my dreams last night. We had a cool discussion about content creation.
Okay, that's weird.
lol
*Switches to Elgato mic
Wow, that doesn't sound too good.
@@synnexLIVE Røde NT-USB Mini is cheaper, has better sound and it comes with a built in pop filter.
So for desktop use and "on the go" mic .. It's a nobrainer imo.
@@synnexLIVE Rode NT-USB or Samson G-Track Pro sound MUCH better for about the same cost as the Wave 1
Michael Marquardt meanwhile I’m just looking for a good sounding mic for my ps4 👁👄👁
Jay if you still haven’t found one, for a console, get a Blue Yeti Nano/Blue Yeti or the Samsung G track pro, I recommend the Nano since it’s just a console, the more expensive mics are worth it on PC where you have more control
Wave 3 has built-in pop filter as well, and also the sound sounds "worse" because there are no VSTs - for now (until Elgato updates Wavelink) you would need third party software to add VSTs (noise gate, noise supression, etc.) and once you do, it sounds just as good as the rest of them.
The unboxing put a smile on my face, thank you
My bro!
That NDA is killing me. haha
Real talk.. You were a huge help in my decision making while taking my streams to a new level.
Elgato is a name and product line I passed by many many times because it seemed too much cost for little benefit.
I may still stand in that thinking; however, my praise is still coming. Mostly to you Mr. H.
I took to heart what you said about the GOXLR in many of your videos, mostly because of the need for a compact I/O diverse solution, I have XLR mics and prefer them, and the digital audio mapping, and the voice changer, and the professional clean up, and and and! RGB LIGHTS!
Watching this video made me scratch my head.
Not a single thing you mentioned the GOXLR not having the capacity for, am I not actively doing right now. In fact, I already have had my streamdeck set up to submix and re-mapping. Plus.. You can entirely change the GOXLR profile from the stream deck, giving it an entirely different approach to changing mapping on the sliders while changing an OBS scene, iCUE lights, Philips Lights, send a Twitch Message and.... Well.. I hope you get the point; and yes, I do all that stuff with just one button push on the streamdeck.
Nice video though, I do think I want to buy an Elgato Mic, thanks to you Elgato has me buying lots of toys, but the GOXLR stands in a realm of it's own still.
My only issue I heard with the WAVE mic was the close-up audio quality wasn't favorable. But from a distance the WAVE and competition wad dead heat.
"Elgato took me to a back room..." DID they, now? :P
Show us on this doll exactly where they touched you at.
This channel has a portion of my wallet dedicated to it
Harris - thanks for your amazing contents! You have my utmost respect. Keep it coming my dude.

5:05 Literally dying laughing for like the next 2 minutes 😂😅
And this video was released a day after I recieved my GoXLR and microphone...
I bought the Yeti X about a month ago so I feel you buddy.
I don't like the sound of the mic at all, I don't know what mic you bought but it's probably gonna sound way better.
@@ComposingGloves Oh, that's a shame. Maybe something can be helped with EQ? I got a procaster and really didn't enjoy the sound, but it after some EQ (from "Perfect stream audio" vid from Harris it sounds good :)
Great video! I wish this, or ANYTHING else, was in stock right now.
This video was recommended to me after watching the last video with the new mics. I wasn't realls sure I was ready to step up to a new mic. I've been using a Trust GXT 232 for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it but the software for the Wave just sold me on it. I have been wanting to be able to adjust individual volumes like this and have mic monitoring. I have not been able to find anything that does that other than voicemeeter (Which is difficult to use) and My mic has no monitoring. So I guess what I want to say is, Thank you.
I need this program WITHOUT the mic, that would be soo good for streaming with usb mics
Thanks Harris, been a big fan of your channel as a novice streamer and just pulled the trigger on the Wave 3 (been out of stock for a month). I'm excited to start creating more and better youtube content with it as well as my streams. Have you made any videos on how you do the video editing? Yours is so slick and using lots of picture in picture content.
I definitely need that 2 pc setup video with the wave from you
Be interested if you did a whole video start to finish on 2 PC stream setup, including cable hookups, windows configs, hardware used, and then the settings for OBS (streaming software) including filters, etc. Be very interested to see how it would all come together as most videos glaze over different areas.
Have to agree on physical faders. That will always be the defining feature for me, and why i went through absolute hell (well before the GoXLR was a thing) to set up a physical mixer in a two-PC setup. being able to adjust audio quickly and accurately without clicking to the proper window, or workarounds like "incremental button presses on a streamdeck" are always going to be the superior method, IMO.
I'm still unable to use the GoXLR in my setup as i require more than one XLR mic for live guests on stream, but if i could get away with that, i would, for sure. That's all I really would like in the market (even if it would be more pricey). A GoXLR with four more faders and a few more mic inputs.
Please do a full guide on a two pc setup with this software and voicemeeter, I want to see a rundown on how this will work in with capturing the 5-30mins previous with the streamdeck/elgato flashback recording
Great video dude, thanks a lot!!!
If you can make a tutorial on how to set up the wave link for a two PC stream, that you be wonderful
Harris what you need is to do all of this.. but for console. I stream in OBS with all of the things you've taught us, but I have to wing it in some parts to fit to console. I think you could do a large percentage good helping pc streamers on console with their settings
ive watched this video multiple times, and now im convinced on getting the elgato wave instead of the goxlr (which i was also convinced by your videos to get) hopefully this pandemic calms the heck down before christmas so i can ask for it and until then i can just use my yeti ive had a couple of years and figure out what to do with that instead of leaving it in the closet
Thank you for doing a wave vs blue yeti. I don’t hear enough to change mics, but if I was starting fresh I would go with the wave
I was streaming Monday & Tuesday this week and my yeti triggered me a couple of times while uttering the excitement to someday replace it. TBH, I was never overly impressed with it. Always felt meh to me.
The next day I see a Tweet from Elgato with a wave. The day after (yesterday), new mic. Took that as a message from the universe, bought the Wave 3.
I'll let you know how I like it when it shows.
Excellent video as always Harris 👍
on the topic of software vst's, if you are already okay with taking the cpu hit to do software vst's then cantabile is a good option. Cantabile is simply a vst host program that will allow you to use ANY vst you want (there are tons of awesome free vst's out there, everything from your standard noise suppression, gates, eq, compression, to reverb, voice changers, autotune, etc). It even plays nicely with voicemeeter, sitting in between it and the output and therefore allowing your mic to sound consistent across all apps (discord, obs, etc) without having to set things up multiple times. It DOES add a small amount of latency to the mic though, so you will have to add a delay to your webcam in obs to sync things up again.
Thank you very much harris really helped :)
I saw this vid an hour after you made it. I had a feeling this would sell fast so I ordered it then. Website was already laggy from getting slammed. And sold out as of the same afternoon.
Man.. I bought a new MIC (noname) at the time this video came out... i hate myself right now..
Good job with your input. I think they couldn't have chosen a better "consultant"!
Very timely video I was thinking about mic update.
Hello Harris, an Elgato wave 3 is $499 canadian on amazon. When a goxlr is $429, honestly with that price point, I will go with goxlr to save cpu resources and have everything at the tip of my finger instead of a software where I have to switch between games and elgato software.
Unless we can assign hotkeys for elgato, which you didn't mention.
Thanks
Loving the videos, I'm wondering if a mic such as the blue yeti studio pro USB and XLR could be a good option for gamer/musicians. So far it's the only mic that can do both I think. Could be a fun one for you to review
I just started looking for a good mic setup, started to watch many of your videos but decided to wait since the price per entry into really good audio was high and mid to low end just wasn't what I was looking for because I'd still be spending a fair bit for not a huge upgrade. This release came out at just the right time for me. Not using it for streaming but hey maybe if I like it enough I'll give it a go
Harris (or others),
Great job and quite timely on your review of Elgato’s, “secretive” Wave announcement!
I have a question; I recently purchased the “Samson - G-Track Pro USB Microphone” which is still unboxed b/c I’m finishing my new 3950x build...
Would you recommend one of the new, “Wave” Mics or the Samson?
Of note, I also have an Elgato Stream Deck. And oh yes, my goal is to have that professional sounding DJ audio voice.
