    How many of you noticed that it was only 48 tips. If you can figure out what the two missing ones are comment below "Tips blank and blank are absolutely game changing!"
    It was an accident. When reading them off I skipped two by mistake.
    Here they are:
    Q: Should I stream in 720p or 1080p?
    A: Only stream in 1080p when you are a partner and your viewers have the option to lower the quality manually. If viewers are stuck watching at 1080p lots won't be able to even watch your stream.
    Q: Should I dye my hair?
    A: Duh

      I did an IRL stream of me building my first PC this past weekend. It was like 10 hours and I had an average of I think 7 viewers an hour! It was actually insane I've never seen #'s like that on my channel before. POINT - Maybe do an IRL stream of something relevant to gaming/streaming/personal hobby. @@TheCubsMakeMeSad This is what a lot of streamers say, but those are the one's that have lot's of viewers already. I don't think that this is the way to go. If you're just narrating talking about what you're doing, it's kind of annoying. Viewers KNOW what your doing. You need to find your voice on stream. You need to be entertaining and not just saying stuff that is obvious your going through the motions.
      If nobody is in your stream, why would you talk as if you have 1000 people in your stream. It just doesn't make sense. Your channel should evolve around entertaining who is there, when they are there.

I know half of the world's population is stupid by definition but some people are unbelievably so... You pretty much made me feel like I had to reply. Great observation btw, He did say keep everything the same (so atleast you aren't deaf- I'll give you that much). But that person asked if he/she should do 'a', as in singular, 24 hour stream. He never specified when. And it isn't always like you're going to be working at your day job or out with friends or family. That's pretty much what the weekend is for 😂😂 Then again, we need the stupid people to keep the economy working.

    tip 12 at 2:37 proves that you really want to help us, I''ve seen a lot of channels say that you shouldn't even use NVENC at all, that's bullshit, I use NVENC and it has been working great for me, as x264 makes the stream a bit laggy sometimes. I rather have better performance with my games and lowering the quality a little bit than to get annoying frame drops on stream.

    • @supsupsup12345678905
      @supsupsup12345678905 6 років тому +6

      I would also take into account what kind of games you are playing because NVENC is more GPU dependent and x264 is CPU dependent. So if you play multiple games, some of those games are more taxing on one vs the other and it might be something to take into account when planning your stream schedule for what games to play while utilizing each encoding format.

    • @InFlamesOfSorrow
      @InFlamesOfSorrow 5 років тому +1

      Obviously it depends on your hardware...
      People with a great CPU but bad GPU might be better off using X264 while others are better of using NVENC...
      I really like NVENC... but for the game i stream (which is very fast pace) everything gets blocky when i use NVENC.
      With X264 its OK. Still not as good as i would hope but good enough to watch.

    • @strivold4922
      @strivold4922 5 років тому

      Actually, the new NVENC is now of better quality than x264 in a lot of cases for no downside. Make sure you set it to Max Quality though

    • @strivold4922
      @strivold4922 5 років тому

      @@supsupsup12345678905 NVENC has a dedicated chip, so it diesn't hinder the GPU AT ALL. What it can do though is using more PCI-e bandwidth.

    There's a very important difference that all XLR mics have, and that is the grounding pin. This helps eliminate noise in the signal being fed through the cable (see signal-to-noise ratio). That route requires a USB audio interface with an XLR input and can cost very little. One thing to note, if the microphone is of the condenser design, it will need the interface to include phantom power (+48v boost switch) if not a part of the microphone package. The interface will also give you good control of the signal with the input gain knob, so you can dial the signal back if it is peaking- or crank it to 11 (rip headphone users). Great vid!

      Takes time to build a following. One day you have ten subs and some time later you look and it is 50k, a while later its 100k. Growth is explosive later in the curve but it takes time to get to that explosive growth.

    Thank you for your videos. I’ve been an affiliate for a year, but I’ve been streaming from Xbox One (OG). I just switched to PC three weeks ago, spending my years earnings from twitch to get a really serious starter set up. And I used a lot of your advice. Soon, I’m going to be bringing some content here to UA-cam too. Just wanted to thank you for the help. I make enough on twitch to work only part time, which has been really good for my mental health! :)

    Even though this is old, theres a slight misconception here. Nvenc and x264 do have a noticeable quality difference when RECORDING, they have almost no appreciable difference in a live stream, the difference grows multiplicative of the bitrate, so at lower end say 3500 bitrate the impact to quality is lower than at 55,000 where it has multiplied substantially. As of 2000 series Nvidia however, the quality is nearly 1:1 and one of the better options.

    Fantastic advice! Harris definitely knows his stuff. He has helped answer curious questions of mine on even the littlest things. Thank you Harris for everything!
    I started streaming back in August of 2018 and have grown so much since then. I feel like my last 13 years of professionally playing music and touring with my band has helped set me in the correct mindset on how to operate my channel. I treat my channel exactly like how I treated my band business and even look at everything from the same point of view...
    My stage is in my chair in front of a camera.
    The crowd is the viewers.
    My "music" is the content I stream.
    As for the lurkers? Still in the crowd, they just have their phones out. ;)
    It's all about how you look at things and how you handle it. I grow every time I stream and I thoroughly enjoy helping people out as well. I know I went a little off topic but I just wanted to share how I look at things from a different perspective and still make it work. Harris too is a musician so I am sure he can relate! Thank you once again Harris for all the helpful hard work you throw in to help others!

    "Don't get a custom overlay right away, it costs money."
    I mean... if you know a few things about photoshop, you can make all of your own graphics pretty handily, including overlays, logos, and tiles. They don't HAVE to be super fancy animated things that you pay $500 to some pro to make.

    • @feyrannahunter1062
      @feyrannahunter1062 4 роки тому

      Honestly you don't need anything other than your streaming input (obs/etc) to make your first overlay, play around with color sources, text (want a circle? Use a giant o!) and you can come up with SOMETHING other than a blank screen with a cam in the corner. From there get GIMP/photoshop/etc and start making .png and .gif! You can do it all for free even with very little artistic practice.

    Absolutely, love your videos man. Gave me more motivation to work harder on my YT. One thing I also want point out, XLR mics are just better overall. From my personal experience USB mics always tend to end up picking up feedback, whether it from the power source or something else. I personally owned a Yeti awhile back, and returned it. XLR mics are way better, get a Shure SM58, they are the industry standard. You don't need a brand new one, just buy a used one. Those mics last literally for decades, so a used one is fine.

      It sounds like you're saying that when you do things that make a LOT of noise in the game, that noise is drowning out your voice.
      IF that's the case, turn down the audio of your video game capture in OBS. Test it by just doing a video recording without streaming, and then listen/watch to it to see if
      your voice is loud enough compared to the game noise. Keep doing that till your voice is not drowned out. You can also right click on your
      voice audio, and go to advanced properties.. up the mic boost a bit. I had the same issues of my voice being drowned out and the combination
      of mic boost and lowering the video capture audio made a huge difference.
