1:33 - your PS2+HDD & PS3 content 👍 Here, I require that old-school PS2 myself since I am system linking over the firewire for those titles. Am curious about your choices on features/settings, content for your PS2 and PS3 and any organizational choices therein.
opl manager and hdl batch are your heros when it comes to ps2, i just direcltly connected my hdd to the pc, and hdl batched it, theres so many option to do when it comes to ps2 so it gets a llittle confusing, and i need to update my ps3, theres so much newer programs that came out since i did mine, but it works perfect
@@RETROGAMINGARTS , Yeah, recently came upon a concise and detailed tutorial on batching that should make it a lot easier and faster for me getting my PS2 HDDs created (hopefully incl. VMCs in that process) each of which, later to my understanding, can be updated/library added to occasionally via the PS2 USB jack via thumbdrives if I don't want to remove the HDDs. Looking toward similar for PS3 and taking notes on that now. ✅ A smallish LAN, tunneling and online MP setup here with some good shared-screen and splitscreen ones in there as well goin back to system-linking PS1s.
The only system I even want to buy for is the Sega CD so I totally relate. I’ve been liquidating stuff I don't use anymore and will probably go on to do more.

Just thinking of there was a cheaper alternative it would be awesome. Or maybe a ds blank cartridge. Like i know they make em in china. But i honestly have no idea how they are done

I know what you mean about the thrill of the hunt. I started collecting in the late 90s when NES and Atari cartridges could be had for 25 or 50 cents. Now I have an entire bedroom filled with stuff I'm trying to sell. Also makes it hard selling when I've got a bit of hoarder in me lol
maybe organize it first, put all doubbles in a bin, or games you dont like in a small bin first, make a little small for sale pile and just roll from that, thanks for watching junior, thanks for getting it
Can't blame ya for selling ur stuff now man, considering prices have gone absolutely nuts over the past several months. Now is def the time to sell if you're going to.
I’m selling off mine because a tornado ruined the house a little over two months ago and now the landlord is selling it. We took a direct hit from the strongest part of the only EF-4 on record this year. Trying to hold onto the collection has only resulted in more and more damage and severely impaired our recovery. Example: I checked on the tornado-damaged house yesterday where I still had a lot of stuff in the garage since the garage never lost its roof and I already filled up several storage units. It turns out that the roofers had no intention of replacing the gutters so another storm flooded the garage with all my stuff in it last night. Spent the entire night throwing out water-damaged boxes and sopping up water while sweating more than I ever have due to 100% humidity. We also had the basement flood after contractors demolished the bathrooms two floors up and then stupidly turn the water back on. I had elevated my Neo Geo AES collection after a water heater leak last year but this flood came from the ceiling and pooled on that exact table while no one was home. Since the tornado got my car and the medical bills from my injury ate the insurance check I can barely even get to and from the storage units, the damaged house, the displaced house, work, the new workshop, physical therapy, etc. My brother can’t even charge his Volt since the temporary place has no driveway. To add insult to injury, my dog was hit by a car on the two month anniversary of the tornado, survived with a huge vet bill, and then died two days ago from a diabetic episode... or food poisoning. Hard to tell. My mom was taking care of him during the lockdown and now the tornado aftermath but he was clearly very sick when I took him to the vet on Thursday. I’m still crying about it. :(
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Thanks, man. I still consider myself lucky considering that some of my neighbors didn’t have a single wall left standing but I never realized just how things start compounding AFTER a tornado. For example, I was injured several hours later when the sun came up and then the rain started coming back. It happened just after midnight. The streets were impassable so we had spent the night in the house with no roof, trying to catch water in bins and redirect it to showers, toilets, bathtubs, etc using shower curtains and trash bags. Every time another part of the ceiling would swell with water and collapse it would trigger a frantic rush to move bins and catch the water wherever the new flow pattern was taking it. It wasn’t working very well but with no power we couldn’t see well enough to put a tarp up in the attic or anything. Well, at daybreak we could see in the attic (no roof, remember? ;)) but the rain had stopped. Neither the landlord nor his handymen were able to get to us since the streets were impassable so when the rain came back a while later we had to try to get that tarp up. I ran to the attic and soon realized that even with light you couldn’t see where to put your feet after the insulation. Had been thrown everywhere (literally plastering the house and trees outside too). Gallons of it fell through when I first tried to open the attic ladder many hours earlier. Anyway, it seems the ceiling wasn’t don’t collapsing because it gave way as I cautiously made my way toward the master bathroom with the tarp. When it gave way I had to blindly step on an area I couldn’t test first only to find out that it was styrofoam under the insulation and not a wooden board obviously the styrofoam couldn’t support me nor could the water-logged ceiling underneath, so I went right through and got caught hanging awkwardly in the master bedroom, breaking my arm, scraping up my sides, and hurting my ribs so badly I couldn’t take full breaths for weeks. Of course, I couldn’t just pull myself back up with the broken arm and even when I did get back up I was contorted and stuck with no safe place to crawl out. I couldn’t get to an emergency room nor could any emergency services get to me so I went to a clinic the next day. They x-rayed me, gave me a sling, and told me to go to the emergency room. I balked since it had already been a day so they gave me a second option: orthopedic surgeon. Now I’ve been through several rounds of x-rays, MRI, physical therapy, etc with no end in sight. :( At least I can use my arm somewhat now but I still can’t lift my shoulder at the rotator cuff.
I watched this video looking to see if you made a video on your PS2 with a hard drive in it and your PS Vita modded and you never did them :( please make them! Lol

While the Vita is freaking awesome & a great all in one device, I've become rather partial to a softmodded Switch as of late. It's even more powerful and most importantly has a big ass screen which for me is THE most important thing next to capability & what it can run. It can do most of the same things as the Vita, although being able to natively play both PSP and Vita games is a great part of the Vita.
RIGHT?!?! OMG dont even get me started, i can go on for hours, a mind blowing great experience, the level of polish and personality in the game alone just.... oh man, glad you enjoyed it too
speaking truth on nothing better than playing street fighter with your friends. i know you haven't uploaded in a while - i'm catching up on my subs....only 1 year behind mate hahah
Yeah, the thrill of the hunt...the thrill of the sale! That's basically what I've been doing. Hunting games and flipping them. No time for playing, anymore...
@@RETROGAMINGARTS dang dude. Hang in there. You have inspired a lot of people to learn new and useful skills. I watch your videos when i need some help with figuring things out.
Ah yes, there is nothing better than actually having friends that can play the game you're playing & play it well. Unfortunately none of my close friends are gamers & they couldn't care less about games, so during the rare times we do play there is a drastic skill gap between us. I don't think I've ever been able to experience what its like to play a fighting game against those who can actually play.
you need to visit an arcade, playing with my friends were all around similar skill level, but weve also played vs just eachother for so long, we know exactly how each other fights, i get rekt when i go to a public setting and have to play vs different skill/types of players, i really want to try online, but theres no ps2 fighting games online lol, and thats the system that has all the games i like
I never understood that most of people i know never finished san andreas... People just dont want to spend so much time on single player or on story... People usualy have 2-3 hours for games per week, and that time is usualy spent on youtube or movies and tv shows.
persona 5 took me around 6 months to beat, only playing like 45 min a day before bed or something like that, but i still made it all the way through, ya know?
Sup. I know the feeling. I'm always working on something. I'm playing the first shining force on the Genesis. I won't sell my Sega Saturn collection or Turbo games. Imagine me selling Panzer Dragoon Saga and House of the Dead? Never.
yooo i beat that recently, loved it, i wanna move onto 2 or 3, and good michael, i'm glad you wont sell, i'm glad theres alot of people who wont. but i'm a wildcard cant help it lol
One thing that makes playing on OG PS1 hardware desirable for some is the actual picture quality. Some of us videophiles care very much about getting the best image quality possible, and the PS1 still has THE best potential image quality for PS1 games. The PS2 and PS3 have an overall softer image when playing original disks. It's a small reason & not one many ppl care that much about but still worth mentioning. For me it is a factor & is why I still keep my PSOne hooked up.
@J It is indeed amazing, however since you mentioned Emulation I do have to say that Emulation can look even better yet, due to the fact that it can internally upscale the sprites & polygonal textures. There are of course drawbacks to Emulating anything, including input lag and inaccuracies and the like. Still, if you are a purist who enjoys playing on real hardware then a PS1 via RGB with a good upscaler like you mentioned can't be beat.
@J Troubleshooting? What sort of issues did you have? I've never had any sort of problems emulating anything, then again I am also a bit of a tech guru when it comes to computers. Never had any problems at all myself. I was also a big Emulation guy for many years through my 20's, as I actually ended up selling off my entire collection upon discovering Emulation. However I then discovered RGB and what it can do about 7 or 8 years ago which rekindled my passion for orignal hardware & thus I started collecting again & have never looked back. Now I only use Emulation when absolutely necessary. Lol I am the same way tho, I use flash carts for the stuff I don't own or for things like fan translations which have no physical version. Today's flash carts are really becoming awesome, like all of the extra capabilities of the SD2SNES/FXPak Pro and the Sega CD support for the Mega SD/Mega ED Pro.
@J I'd also recommend the Mega ED Pro over the Mega SD myself. It's just personal preference but I prefer it over the Mega SD. I own both and plan to sell my Mega SD sometime here soon.
@J Lol you really didn't know about the ED Pro? It's an actual Everdrive man, you DO know about those right? & don't Ebay man, unless you're trying to get ripped off. Why don't you just buy from the official store or Stone Age Gamer like everyone else? That's where you should be buying all your flash carts from.
hey, yakuza, if ive never played any of them, but want to, where do i start? the first one ever made for ps2? or can i start on the remakes for ps4, i donno but i wanna get into them. i have the first one on my ps2 sooooo lol
@@RETROGAMINGARTS chronologically play 0,1, 2, 3, 4,5 ,6 and Like A Dragon. Judgement is like it's own thing but kinda fits in? Right now I'm playing the remake of 1. The ps2 version might be a little different

No time for playing, anymore...
its a great hobby, the flip, its alot of fun
Dang dude. Selling your collection again? I hope you gain a lot of profits.
i did, it was totally worth it, that was before my life crashed though, and its all gone
@@RETROGAMINGARTS dang dude. Hang in there.
You have inspired a lot of people to learn new and useful skills.
I watch your videos when i need some help with figuring things out.
@@bustergundo516 thanks buster, i'm tryin
@@RETROGAMINGARTS trying is a good thing. You have a journey ahead but you'll make it through.
Ah yes, there is nothing better than actually having friends that can play the game you're playing & play it well. Unfortunately none of my close friends are gamers & they couldn't care less about games, so during the rare times we do play there is a drastic skill gap between us.
I don't think I've ever been able to experience what its like to play a fighting game against those who can actually play.
you need to visit an arcade, playing with my friends were all around similar skill level, but weve also played vs just eachother for so long, we know exactly how each other fights, i get rekt when i go to a public setting and have to play vs different skill/types of players, i really want to try online, but theres no ps2 fighting games online lol, and thats the system that has all the games i like
@@RETROGAMINGARTS Oh yeah? Which are your favs on the PS2?
Good job
thanks trav!
More Street Fighter tangents please.
dont temp me
One thing that makes playing on OG PS1 hardware desirable for some is the actual picture quality.
@J Why not just burn em? The Sega CD doesn't have any copy protection. That's what I have always done.
I need to learn from you
Making a little how too guide
I kinda felt like selling my Atlus collection recently
I'm keeping the Yakuza series. It feels so mature and a good story to get rid of! I know it's on game pass lol
hey, yakuza, if ive never played any of them, but want to, where do i start? the first one ever made for ps2? or can i start on the remakes for ps4, i donno but i wanna get into them. i have the first one on my ps2 sooooo lol
@@RETROGAMINGARTS chronologically play 0,1, 2, 3, 4,5 ,6 and Like A Dragon. Judgement is like it's own thing but kinda fits in? Right now I'm playing the remake of 1. The ps2 version might be a little different
@@RETROGAMINGARTS I'd keep the first one on ps2 just in case? But the remake is fully up to date with stuff! But anyway start with 0 lol
I'm going on a tangent but the collectors edition for 0 and 6 are 👍👌
i hear a lot of ffvi soundtracks.. cool
great ear, yea its just FF6 the whole way thru this vid LOL
@@RETROGAMINGARTS oh really? haha sorry i wasnt done watching this entire video yet when I commented. anyway yeah how could I forget the soundtracks of one of the greatest rpgs I've played and finished. cant help but feel nostalgic when hearing them.
@@chikupachi i'm so glad you feel that way when you hear that soundtrack, its a real good one
@@RETROGAMINGARTS yeah. I smile at the fact that very long time ago, its cute 2d pixels characters/graphics made my eyes teary at most of its cutscenes. I hope squareenix will someday consider making a remake for this gem on a new gen console
You were and still are a PC gamer who uses emulators. The collector mindset was never your speed ,but nice try. Ill never in my life be a Pc gamer but to each their own
How did you come to this conclusion about me?
