Wow, amazing to find this. I was actually in the audience for this show. This show was actually taped in September, 1996 and Tom Brokaw was the main guest. Loved the song and got the CD after seeing them live.
To this very day, this song makes me want to grab my Republica CD, get in the car, crank Ready to Go with the windows down and go 100 mph on the highway. It's a high-energy song that drills into my soul! Love it!!
Saffron of Republica is one of those magically gifted sirens from the 90s ( eg., Jewel, Tori Amos, Alannis Morrisette, Siouxsie Q, etc.) whose live performance is nearly as engaging as her metronome-driven, camera frenzied videos....Three other things I like about this particular performance 1) I really dig the back up vocals 2) I love the "Rhythm Heritage" sound of the instruments and 3) Let's face it: Saffron is as hot as she is vocally gifted, with more than a flair for just the right theatrical moment....In essence, she's f-g awsome!
An infectious, timelessly youthful hook, but what really stands out over decades is Saffron's physical posturing, simultaneously alluring and powerful as an athlete -- front ladies should quit dancing choreographically and emulate more of this type of stellar power pop lead. She is 'in the moment', which lasts forever.
Well it'd be impossible for every singer Male or female to look as built as Saffron as no one is built identical. But you're right she looks very athletic
@@scrotor189 She was definitely very athletic in the early 90s when she was singing in the techno group En-joi She could kick her legs straight up with her feet well above her head she'd dance fast, spin, and the kick straight up above her head
You should see youtube videos of her dancing when she was a vocalist for the techno group En-joi in early 1990s She's quite the dancer and very flexible. She can kick her legs straight up with her feet well above her head. I liked her spin and kick move.
I believe this was actually the summer of 1996 when the song first took off in the U.S. It was one of the songs of summer. Such simpler and different times.
Fantastic performance of what has to be a damn near perfect pop anthem. Saffron was an amazing front woman, great voice and just a dream to watch. That this is a quarter of a century ago and the sad realisation that the heady days of the 90s slip further into history is the only -ve of this clip
In the (my) "old days" when I used to fly a lot, I always had this ready in my little portable CD player (remember those?,......) and as the plane was about to take off, I started playing this because I was "Ready To Go". It made me smile and laugh. I thought that I was so smart and clever.
Man I love this song this was such a cool tune I love this this is amazing I can't believe I found this video I wish Republica would come back with some other tunes, 90's had such memorable songs
Not sure why the guitarist played his part an octave higher than on the studio version. The original sounded MUCH better in drop-D. And yes, Saffron is amazing.
@@knives_on_static That's not what he's saying. The guitarist played the riff on the D string, which is an octave higher than the original riff. The original riff is played on the E string in dropped D.
@@PVAPPE Thanks for the clarification on Saffron. The Wiki bio didn't say anything about her Dad, unless I read over it too fast. Makes me wonder what the family was doing in Lagos when She was born? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffron_(singer)
She was wonderful, with her charming Londoner accent. Sly minx expression throughout. One complaint -- she did some fantastic acrobatic leaps mid-song, but the cameraman caught only the first one briefly. Don't show me the friggin' guitarist, God damn it, show me her leaping.
Accept it for what it is. Man... this song has such a rocking jam. I prefer the studio version with the staccato drums. This live show they don't have as much punch but still pretty FN'ing good.
Such a timeless 90’s alt classic, their best that’s earning them untold royalties for those who want to use its infectious “ready to go” words and beat ✌️
The camera man needed to zoom in and out, really really fast, to pull this off properly.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thank you for the comment roftl
Jajajajajaja LOVE THIS SONG
Shit yeah. RTG was one hard video to watch lol
Camera man in NOT ready to go
Saffron at her PRIME. Damn she looked absolutely FANTASTIC and her voice was PERFECTION. Great energy and she just looks SO FREAKING COOL!!!
Yes she looked hot and sounded great, she was ready to go!
Was? She still has it!
back when you could get away with a lip sync... perfection there, at least.
Incredibly sexy and wow, what a pair of legs.
@@neatchipops3428 Not a lip sync. It's live.

Love her.

You are right. It was in september of 1996. I saw this episode of Conan. Fun days.
@vacuum chum Another version was released in early 97, but the first version was released in April 96.
All I know is I wish it could relive that time again, but with what I know about it now.
Fucking CDs! I loved it back the.
I also was in the audience. Before the show i met conan at the men's room. We talked, nice guy. He tried my coke. Then we become friends for 8 years
Perfect. Love this live performance!
But Republica is completely out of place! Because this is a song to dance to and not just to listen to!
Agree. Excellent live performance.
Shes drop dead gorgeous I forgot how cute she was.
YOu vanna cum?
she is sooo frikn gorgeous

She’s way better than the others you mentioned and way hotter too.
excellent comment and analysis.

Very true, captivated
And, in that 'moment' she rockets out of the screen, zooming past the limits of TV pixels and blasting straight for the.... zeitgeist.....Wow!
Well it'd be impossible for every singer Male or female to look as built as Saffron as no one is built identical. But you're right she looks very athletic

Saffron is so animated in the performance that just watching her is making me tired! Love the way she pumps energy into this song!
well it’s not like she has another song to sing.

I’ve heard this song countless times and never get tired of it!
luckily
Excellent live performance. When popular music still sounded good.
Awesome live performance of their song!
I think she was lip syncing
@BreezyMunk how can anyone dance like that and sing without being out of breath? I would bet anything that she’s lip syncing.
The one and only terrible song
@@JoeyDavies777 Are you completely blind?? She does no dancing while singing. Her mouth matches the singing exactly.

It's shocking to know that this hit song is damn near 20 years old now!
23 years now, and I was 23 back then, damn.

I've just watched them play last weekend in Keswick - The Mountain festival in the Lake District, Uk.
Saffron !!! What a beauty !!
killed it on this live performance!
My absolute favorite song in this Genre of the era! Saffron kills it! I wish they had a larger catalog of music to enjoy! :-)
