However, we have numerous rules and policies set up to handle situation where the dangers of living and making decision become an epidemic (the FDA regulations amped up after The Jungle came out, we have numerous regulations on recreational drugs, etc.)
But the thing is, and I’m assuming your arguing in good faith, is that if someone contracts it, the virus can become a variant and afflict people who did get vaccinated. That’s the difference between this situation and the cliff diving example- one affects one person, one affects the group as a whole.

When reading the full text "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Not one of these are more important or supersedes another.
a. Common defense was to keep any one state from declaring war or fighting a war on its own especially against each other. Not in the context of a pandemic.
b. The only part on the Preamble that discusses to protect clearly is of itself "secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."
2. Federalist No 70 states that it is the responsibility of the government to protect Liberty and Land (or state) while clearly stating "every Roman knows that when power is given to one man (government) tyranny prospers"
3. Oaths of office and enlistment requires that service be sworn to defend the Constitution and not the people.
Ultimately, the full Constitution gives "Unalienable Rights" to the People and "Free men" are responsible for our own defense.
Protecting the people, and making life better for everyone, is literally the only job of a government in a Democracy.

If not for the misinformation campaign, people would not be dying from this or be getting crippled by hospital bills and the long term effects of this illness. And the biggest message I have to the hesitant as a healthcare worker is: It's not about you! Yes, there's lots of people dying of cancer right now, maybe more than necessary because a lot of treatment and surgeries were postponed because of the added risk of covid. There are a lot of tests and procedures that were postponed because of covid, and it will take years to clear that backlog. And then there's the financial toll that people experience because of the delays in reopening created by the vaccine hesitancy.
Going unvaccinated has an impact that goes far beyond the person going unvaccinated.

The comment was more directed at the individuals' responsibility to their own health and body, should that right be fortified to the state, and how much autonomy should you have? What if the government took an active interest in your diet, how would you feel about them telling you what to and not to eat. German here. It's crazy difficult to view your employees as an employer in Germany. Lotta labour law protecting they employee. They can sue for lots of reasons if they don't like that they been fired.
Yeah, I worked for the American arm of a German company, in Germany workers are protected from overwork, so they'd just send work to the US and make us work around the clock, and take all the kudos, then get rid of US employees (or other unprotected workers in other countries) and pat themselves on the back that they are "fiscally responsible."
