i just got mine and it has really turned my opinion of Yamaha around ! I used to prefer Kawasaki over Yamaha and would trash talk yamahas all the time. but I think I might be giving Yamaha a chance now! i am loving my 2020 R3!
I bought a 2023 R3 in phantom purple and I couldn’t be happier. What’s funny is my bike that I owned before this was a cbr1000RR. The R3 doesn’t disappoint
Just recently getting the buzz to get into motorbikes and thus has been the dream bike for a while now and its amazing to see it out on irish roads, as that's where mine will be someday. You really can't get a sense of things when they won't be in your environment so thank a million for making the video, it's really helped me visualise my dream. Subbed
Best of luck Keith. Get back into bikes was the best thing that ever happened to me. It opened up a whole new world, and I’ve made so many friends through it over the last four years.
Cracking review - plan to get this as a first bike for a year then get something like an R6, do you think this would serve me well or would it be better to grab an older 600 now - Cbr 600 f4i for example
@@frankedoodle3798 for reliability and comfort I would say stick with the latest R3. Superb bike and I’ve ridden it a good few times since making this review. I still think it’s a superb bike!
@@WheelieGoodTV the one I'm looking at is 2018 with 2k miles for £2.5k. As long as the time spent on the R3 transfers to the R6 I will be happy :) thanks for the reply
I think the current A2 bikes are cracking, I'd happily commute, tour and trackday most of the new A2 bikes. My KTM 390 Duke was great at eating the miles and for scratching on my local twisties, my mate took his around Anglesey and it didn't embarrass him! :-) We are constantly told by the press and manufacturers that we need the latest greatest superbike/adventure bike etc to do the things we want to do.... yet it wasn't that long ago when bikes that are now classed as learner/new rider bikes would completely pee all over the bees knees of the time. Nice first impressions review mate :-)
I buy a lot of damaged bikes to fix,. One little drop and can you find a replacement side fairing? I would stay away from limited edition colours/graphics. This blue is mid 2019 to 2023.
Even though your video is two years old, I'd like to comment on it. Time is of no importance, as I find it very topical. Especially when I see your age, it seems to me that you're younger than me, despite my 63 years and my 33 years as a motorcyclist. It makes me so happy to see 'old youngsters', just like me, enjoying these types of bikes. I store these bikes. I am and remain young in my head despite my physique... Good health to you and many more motorcycle rides!
That exhaust makes it sound like an R6. Superb can and superb bike. It’s a while ago since I made this vid but I’ll always hold this bike in my affectionate thoughts. Loved it!
@@WheelieGoodTV Ahhhh R6 amazing, I will have to get a can like that for sure in the future then! and also amazing video. It was great to see how the bike left a good impression on you! I have subbed by the way
Hi Emso, if you search through my vid list there are several vids I’ve made about my helmet setup etc which is the same as I used for this vid. Hope that helps. Cheers 👍🏍🎥
Oh I quite like the look of that myself! Very nice. I always got on OK with comfort on my yamaha's! "Stop the lights" oh my god that brings memories back! 😆 🤣 nice one! Keep up the good work!
Obviously a great starter little machine. In my case it is going to be my second and "forever" bike though. What it brings to the table is an affordable price, albeit a little saucy for the category, cheap to run, maintain and insure, comfortable-light-efficient for commuting, real fun in the twisties, perfectly capable of highway riding, though I may consider a sprocket change to reduce the rpm if I find myself doing a decent amount of highway miles on it. And that it lacks the power to kill you, yes some people do consider that a plus, is why I scratched the R7 off my list and aything more powerful than this. Having spent 32 yeras driving various cars on the road, and despite being a speed lover with 17 years in karting, I would happpily go back to my '99 Megane coupe with it's 98 HP as my daily rider if I could get one new today. Hydraulic steering instead of electric, nice playful chassis, really planted at high speed with great aero, manual gearbox, light, economical, beautiful, perfect. It's because Ithere are no longer good cars like that around any more that I turned to motorcycles at the tender age of 50. The R3 is the perfect equivalent to that car.
I have an older model (black) that I converted to a sport touring bike with bags, a taller wind screen, better pegs, Akrapovic pipe, better seat for long rides. The investment wasn't high, and it does what it's supposed to do. A 150/60 rear tyre really improves the handling.
I am currently riding 2020 MT03 and think about changing to R3 because of lack of wind protection on MT. Aftermarket windscreens for MT03 are crap and doest work as intended. R3 Fairings seens to do the job. I dont like what Yamaha did with the front forks. On 2019 model R3 had gold forks. From 2020 onward they made it black and only Anniversary edition have gold forks :/
# # Very useful, sensible and helpful review. , I'm a beginner motorcyclist, my first bike at age 48 end am small 166cm, I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, is a good option for me? Is this bike good enough and usually commuting friendly? or invest in big bike 650cc or something like that Any way great video Be safe
Hi, I don’t think anyone would grow out of this too quick. It’s great for commuting in towns and enough speed to keep you interested and smiling for years to come. It’s also really well balanced which is great when riding at slower speeds. 👍🏍

Theres literally an official track racing league for r3s😂 Thanks for the vid!
Cool.
It’s a great bike. Definitely for the daily commuter and beginner riders. I’m surprised that the seat was comfortable being that it’s a Yamaha.
Great review. I'm looking at getting a R3 in a few months, as my first bike. Sounds like a great beginners bike, and awesome to commute to/from work.

Nice to see a review on a budget sport bike. Interesting for such a small engine its vibration free through the gearbox and rev range. 👍

Didn’t have time on this one Ken. Had to turn it around quicker than normal and the spec check takes me a day to put together.

Still a great bike that R3. I was so impressed when I was expecting the complete opposite.

How's the mileage nd riding comfort at 5.10 feet height
I was very surprised with the high level of comfort and I think anyone up to 6ft will be ok on this. It’s a lovely upright riding position.

You wouldn't go wrong with this R3 or a Honda Hornet 400.

It really is a very impressive machine. I loved it!

There's a 300 class on track these days. Nice bike but I'd imagine it's a bike you wouldn't keep long before wanting more power?
