Recently picked up my 2022 R3 I agree with everything you said ! Amazing bike recommend to any new rider and experienced riders who want an amazing commuting vehicle. Remember It’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
I agree with your comment on lower CC has more upright seating position versus bigger bikes. I would also add that lower CC has lower seat height. For some of us with 30 inseam, it’s tough to flat foot bigger bikes with higher seat height 😅
Been riding over a decade, and my next bike purchase will be an R3. Had many discussions from track and race junkies about these bikes and while it's short comings in power is apparent, having to dive bomb into turns is what makes me excited to experience. I've said this in other r3 videos, but I'll mention it again, the ergonomics is what initially impressed me. Comparing to a couple other potential bikes in the category, the recent version of the r3 sets it apart from it's previous generation and the ninja 300/400. The space around the seat, shape of the fuel tank, just has good design for track use in mind.
I owned r3 for 3 years currently. I had cbr 650, cb 1000r, nc750x etc. I agree with all your comments about this bike. R3 is a perfect tool for everyday city commuting and for small technical tracks. Small, very maneuverable, economical bike. Even for experience riders it can give a lot of fun and pleasure. However, brakes are poor, it is hard to ride on highways (lack of power and stability). That's why, for longer trips, I also have a hayabusa in my garage 😀
What area of Ontario are you from? If you’re in the GTA and looking for a riding group I’m part of an R3 group that’s based in Toronto area. Let me know if you want to join!
I got a brand new on and it the engine lost compression within the first 109 miles. I only got 1 good ride out of it but i still have high hopes for her comeback.
Definitely a beautiful bike. I mostly commute with it and planning to do some track days too. I do want more power and will eventually upgrade but want to learn the fundamentals before doing so.
Good content, we both have the same bike and I'm glad I held strong for the 60th livelry even thou it took 6 months for delivery. Look into the Yoshumira AT2 slip on, they state a 5% increase in HP but I'm detecting more and the characteristic of the top end is much more aggressive with an impressive pull.
Yeah, I'm glad that the deal fell through on the Ninja 400 I was looking at because the R3 in this colour was my first choice. I was actually looking at either the CS Racing or Akra full system. Leaning towards the Akra because it doesn't require cutting into the fairing.
Thank you so much for talking about the insurance. It was the one thing that I couldn’t seem to get enough information about. I definitely will be going with an r3 rather than a r6. I’m pretty young and would be a new M class driver so I’m pretty sure they also wouldn’t want to insure me anywhere, and it would also just be out of my budget. Thank you for the info I appreciate very much. Will sub!
I’ve been researching for my first bike and have my mind set on the r3 from all the reviews I’ve seen it seems like a great motorcycle and looks amazing! hoping to get one in the next couple months.
Good luck! It’s no super sport but right now as a new rider it fits the bill perfectly. Such a fun bike to ride around town or hit the twisties with and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg, especially where I live in Ontario, Canada!
I swear if your from Ontario, you can notice it in 2 seconds by the traffic signs and styles of buildings. when i go other places, I always feel like wtf does it all look so different, quebec, alberta etc just weird signs and ways to divide traffic for turning etc
Where are the RPMs at 80-85 mph? I have a ninja 400 (sorta) and thinking between the R3 or CBR650R. I forgot about insurance so I'll stay in the 300 class most likely
Does the display show kilometers per hour or miles per hour? Also how tall are you and what do you weigh? (for reference towards myself, want to get one in about 6 months, im 193 cm and weigh 97 kg, so trying to compare or understand how id be on it)
Mine shows KM/H since I’m in Canada but I believe it can be changed pretty easily. I’m 6’0” and 155lbs (71kg). Don’t have any issues fitting on the bike and doesn’t feel cramped at all.
@@thatdapperrider Funny thing, at first I didn't get the ninja 400 for the looks. For me the R3 was the prettiest, but after seeing them side by side I don't know why I didn't like the r3 anymore. Good on you for being mindful and aware. The 300cc~ class bikes can be very fun to ride. It might not be 600cc fast but it's much more enjoyable to be able to push the bike to it's limits.
@@BrianUchiha1 definitely not true. I’m sure majority of higher CC bikes recommend premium gasoline but not all require it. You do what you feel most comfortable with but I’m more than ok putting in what’s recommended by the manufacturer in their service manual.

Everyone has their preferences and mine happens to be different than yours. People choose their bikes, starter or not, based on a lot of different factors. “Better suited” is such a relative term. Royal Enfield makes some nice bikes but there’s a reason small displacement “sport” bikes sell well.
