I had my qm8 for a month... Awesome tv.. Ita so bright... Blacks are excellent... Not oled black but close enough... TV speakers... I put it this way... If you going to buy this monster... Hopefully you have a dedicated surround system. Tcl did an excellent job on this beast.... Highly recommended!!!!
@@vdoestech I read that sometimes, its completely up to the manufactory facilities. Its why supposedly some QM8s are brighter than others. No consistency. Also, I think you might have gotten a bad TV based off that subwoofer and shouldn't hurt you to exchange for a new one just to make sure. Especially since you've had the TV just a short while....
What do you mean the blacks are excellent....sir as a black man. I'm highly offended & triggered 😂😂😂. Joking....I got the joke from family guy. When they got a HD TV Peter said look at the blacks on this thing and he was watching like the Cosbys 😂😂
Picked up the 75in version for $1299 a couple weeks ago at BB. For the price it simply couldn’t be beat. I’m still trying to work with the Google TV interface but I’ve established an home infrastructure so it seems to make more sense to reconnect our Apple TV
3:44 to be honest I have never in my life heard of a TV remote that was rechargeable. I thought every remote today still used batteries and I always prefer that because if it dies you can just slap some new batteries in and continue using it instead of having to wait for it to charge
I recently bought my mother-in-law, an entry level Samsung TV and the remote is capable of solar charging and type c charging. She leaves it flipped over and the battery hovers around 45-60%. Pretty handy
I understand your concern and dislikes. But if you’re going to invest in a TV that size you should be mounting it and definitely hooking it up to a receiver or soundbar. There’s no way I would buy a tv this size and listen to it through the tv speakers. That’s just not going to happen.
Great vid man. I have an oled, but sounds like you can’t beat this tv for the value. And like you said if you’re dealing with a brighter environment regularly the nits on this set are insane.

It’s still not as good as OLED when it comes to color, and doesn’t do nearly as good a job at handling lower quality content, but it’s sufficient for my needs. That said, my next TV will be another OLED. Unless Sony’s new mystery panel tech wows me.
I picked up the 75" 800.00 pit the door at best buy open box and I LOVE this tvs picture. It's amazing. I only watch it with my laptop connected and run 4k movies. They look amazing. PS5 looks good on it too I only wish it was bigger cuz I'm greedy like that

Ulgh, that sub makes the bass crunchy. I mean, you're spending that much on a TV I would hope most are connecting it to a good 2.1 or higher soundbar at the very least, but damn TCL. Should have just left that off the model this year as it's not a huge selling point at that level.
@MikeC-xg8hg I'd say the LG C2...the black levels are beyond awesome on my PS5! Spider-Man 2 looks like I can reach out and touch it! The QM8 is still great for me for casual TV watching but when it's time for business my LG C2 doesn't let me down.

Very nice video clip of this 85" TCL which I've been waiting for a honest review of. It's current price of $2,799 is $2,000 less than the Sony X95L which as much as I want the Sony the price difference with VERY comparable features and viewing makes the TCL quite attractive! I am curious though what you got it for on Amazon day..🤔...Feel like it can,will be reduced to a great degree around black Friday...thx!
I mean ideally I wouldn't put the sound bar on or the subwoofer on the back on because I already have a home theater system at my crib and basically I just want a big TV to watch movies on but I know you could probably shut that subwoofer settings off I just use TV volume after I'm not using the home theater
I have the QN90C, at 85. Got it for 2700 bucks 6 weeks ago. At 1800 bucks for the 85 QM8 at Best buy heck yes, I would get the QM8. I wish I could go back in time and not get the QN. Thats way too much money to not save for a TCL. Mine has the same type of stand. I look at it and wonder how the hell does it hold something so heavy.
I currently own a TCL 65R635 and it can output audio both on the optical output and HDMI eARC at the same time with the roku operating system. This is very important to me since I am using a hearing aid adapter on the optical output and the rest of the family enjoy audio through the HDMI to a Nakamichi sound bar. Can the TCL QM8 also do this since it is using the Google operating system? Or is it limited to one or the other.
Right!! 600mm X 600mm was the dumbest vesa mount choice they could do it's very hard to find a mount U like that will work for this! I might just get the 85" qn90b if I don't find a mount I like for the qm8.🙄
Just ordered a 55" Hisense U7K on Amazon. Will arrive in a few days. Wondering how it compares to this TV. Do you recommend buying a warranty for this TCL or Hisense?
I never saw the u7k in person. I have the u8k and that TV looks incredible. Gaming and live tv I like the U8K better. Movies and streaming I like the TCL.
Get OLED. Unless you need an 85 inch for your room, DEFINITELY go OLED. ESPECIALLY, if you have the cash for a S95C, S90C, or a G3. You won't be losing out on any brightness at all! All 3 of those models can match anything the QM8 can do in 99% of the things you'll ever watch. With those 3 models the brightness is just as good as ANY mini LED, if not better. Especially for specular highlights.
I did it, I picked up a 75inch. Great tv only one complaint There is a 144hz issue with pc seems to not like AMD GPU's graphics HYPR-RX settings seem to drop the 144hz to 60hz or 120hz disabling HYPR-RX enables 120hz if I want to enable 144hz I need to unplug the tv wait a minute plug it back in then I get the 144hz again hopefully a future update with amd or tcl will fix this. Besides that the TV is excellent.
The unstable stand and AAA battery remote is no big issue I'd say, I own a Samsung 75inch Q80B and my TV felt very wobbly on that stand, mine also has a center stand, and I was concerned... I can imagine for an 85" is a bit worse, however that woofer issue is concerning bro😢.. At just 60% it was knocking hard. Thanks for sharing Bro
The subwoofer sounds like something going through garbage disposal lol but let’s be honest most people don’t even use their TV speakers we end up buying a sound bar and subwoofer
TV manufacturers really need to start making sets with a sound delete option and just leave all the cheap speakers and amps out totally ! Just think, the sets would be a whole lot lighter weight ,run much cooler and we can choose our own sound add on !!!
How much did you spend on the 85 inch? I keep seeing Amazon bounce back and forth between 2199 and 1799 and I don't know why the price keeps changing It went down to 1799 during October but it went back up sadly

You dodged a bullet not gettin that U8K in 75 inch as it is an IPS panel for some reason, but 65 inch or 55 are VA panels, so better contrast but bad viewing angles ofcourse….
@@vdoestech yea alot of other TV content creators have mentioned it so far for 75 inch size of U8K. These tv makers are so random with this, i remember buying a 50 inch sony x80J two years ago, after confirming only that size was a VA panel for that specific model
Best buy has the 75" Hisense u8k on display. It looks great. IPS isn't a problem with mini led. You can't get light bleed if there isn't any lights on. It barely increases the blooming but allows for better viewing angles and full color passthrough.
@@ninfreak95 good to know. So overall contrast doesnt take a hit at all? Maybe negligible with mini LED, but alot of tv reviewers still mention it even now like its something to be concerned about. Maybe side by side with a VA panel still makes the difference noticeable i suppose…
@@pboissie I'm confused as to why they list it with less contrast when it still has true blacks with local dimming. So I'm not sure. But in person it looks good.

There are ZERO mid grade stands out there ,either they make them weigh 100 pounds and bulletproof or 4 cents worth of recycled plastic that makes your expensive tv sway with the A/C vent when it blows !
I love hearing the remote is backlit and motion activated. I prefer batteries my self, because when the power in a remote dies I don't want to wait an hour or more to recharge it before I can do anything. Just put in new batteries and instant remote control.
When you mentioned the 144hz, it's not just for PC gaming. Your PS5 can also do 144hz. Just check your PS5 video options to set it up. Also, best starting point for adjusting the picture is from Dolby Vision Bright mode.

Mine doesn’t, although I haven’t tried music but I have cranked it to 100 volume and tried alll audio modes

OLEDS are definitely gorgeous but not for every environment. Thanks for watching!
OLEDs are ALWAYS going to have the better blacks, but apparently, other reviewers have stated this TV gets pretty damn close

How far away do you typically sit from this 85"? Also with high brightness/size can you watch all day without dizziness/headache/eye fatigue?
I sit about 9FT away give or take.
I never watch more than 3 hrs without several hrs of a break and I wear blue filter lenses so can't really say...

Im finding my 65” too dark in HDR & Dolby Vision. Especially in dim scenes, and during the day in bright/normal room environment

Only if you lower the resolution. HDMI 2.1 maxes out at 4k120. And at 85”, it would bee silly to put it on 1440p dude.

They are not the only ones who be sayin that..the U8K from Hisense has better Color Accuracy,subwoofer and better upscalin SD content than the TCL..Only thing TCL is better is Motion and Brightness..so you gotta pick your poison. me personally im aimin more towards color accuracy
