Hey Chaps! How big would you go for your TV? 🤔
My 65inch Hisense TV is one of my best purchases. The only drawback is when I have to move it so that I can clean my windows as my back is not as good as it once was. I would be unable to move a bigger TV by myself. So in the future I will be looking for a smaller TV or a projector.
65 inchs is the best size. we don't need 4 hands to handle it. 😊
Tech Chap, I love you! You need a 97” OLED with MLA or a 115” LCD
I've really enjoyed my 65" Samsung KS8000 for the last 8 years. It's brighter and more vibrant than ever, but to my eyes, it looks like it has shrank in size (even though logical part of my brain says that it really has not). So . . . this year, I'm definitely in the market for the new 85" Samsung QN90D.
Nice review nice tv
I use DLP projector with 110" screen, but want 98" TV because it's more contrast and bright, also can watch in a day light. Thanks for Review.
At 1:10, we can see the absolutely astonishing difference between an OLED and a regular LED TV.
Yeah the viewing angles are insane. I can't wait for MicroLED to come online and do everything OLED does without the drawbacks.
But why would you ever watch your TV from that angle, though?
@@BojanTomic You have a bunch of people over, you can't all sit dead straight on, a bunch of people will view it from harsher angles and you don't want the picture quality to degrade.
That angle is almost 180 degrees but even less than that the picture quality degrades. That's why its important.
that oled tv was in the back, being protected from all light sources which is a hassle for oled, not only that, the mini led being in front means way worse angle due to the distance to the camera its way closer to the camera. Not fair comparison
I agree with @@tonypaca3015: The TCL provides shade for the OLED, so it doesn't need to deal with reflections (e.g. that light next to the tv) and the TCL is at a worse angle. After seeing both TVs in person, I still think the TCL looks way too washed out compared to the OLED or even the Samsung QE98Q80C and the sharpness was pretty bad (looked like a video games with AA turned off). Wouldn't recommend
I have the previous version 98R754 in my bedroom. No room is to small for the immersion. Only reason I dont have it in the living room is because ... OLED is in the living room. If only the 97" OLEDs were $3000...
Good vid. Where’s the TV cabinet from? Really like it
I like to turn the lights off during a movie so the projector I have has worked really well for me. Plus it’s easy to put away out of sight when I’m done so that’s a huge bonus for me. Nice video buy the way.
Thanks! If you can have a darker space, a projector makes more sense and you don't get massive void when it's off. For the price though - this is great!
Excellent video. Not one point did I feel we are dealing with unaffordable and Tom's videos typically are the best in UA-cam.
Maybe I'm in that niche consumer category, but I love it!... The more cinema-like, the better. Having your friends over towatch a movie, sports or play games on a 98" TV seems great! 🤩
Whilst I agree on the cinematic part, I also recommend a reasonable amount of brightness otherwise brightness will suck in general, HDR and especially DV will suck in their own respective manners.
TCL does the 98 as a 98C845....that should do the trick, granted it's gonna cost.
Is the P745 the same with P745K? Here in Malaysia, the cheapest you can get it for is 2000 pounds.
I have a Samsung 98” Q80C QLED combined with a Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar.
Awesome for gaming and movies!
I purchased a 98 inch TCL about 10 months ago. Not that model, but still a DLT as opposed to a Miniled or OLED. It superseded my premium 65 inch OLED from Panasonic. I the TCL I have is a couple of models up in the TCL from the one you’ve just reviewed. In my moderately lit 18 feet by 21 feet lounge, it does not look out of place, does not dominate the room and has absolutely no issues with brightness. I’m also really happy with its audio production. Good bass. Excellent dialog clarity and huge stereo separation. It does start to distort if turned up too loud, but, more than sufficient volume for my lounge.i don’t feel the need for a soundbar. I had that 98 inch TV installed mainly for the wife’s benefit and moved that 65 inch Panasonic OLED to our bedroom. Personally, if I could only have the TCL or the Panasonic, the TCL would win, all day long.
My forte is 2 channel, premium hi-fi. I have a good friend who, now retired, used to run his own hi-fi/tv retail outlet. Although he is retired and has sold that retail outlet, he still has all his trade contacts. So I employ him to get any hi-fi or tv upgrades. He could not get the TCL for me, I had to go elsewhere. When he called round to install some upgraded hifi components and view my TCL, he told me, that he had just installed a 98 inch tv from a premium brand in the home of an A-list celebrity, who for confidentiality reasons I won’t name. He said that tv retailed at just over £20,000 and the picture quality on my 98 inch was equal to that £20,000 tv.
I think that in the next couple years we are going to see the price of these XL TVs plummet. I think they will become commonplace in the typical working class, British household.
This is good to know. The living room in the house we just bought is fairly long. Do you have your TV at the 21ft side of the room or the shorter side? We're not looking for full immersion by any stretch but we want to make sure it's big enough to see in the longer end of the room for sports and such.
Where I placed that 98 inch tv was pretty well decided for me by room geometry. 1 long wall of my lounge is all window from above 3 feet. The other long wall has the door to the hallway at one end and the door to the kitchen at the other end. So, for practical reasons it had to go on a short wall. Plus that short wall contains the antenna outlets for both the RF and satelite signals. If you are thinking of a 98 inch TCL? Keep in mind that it’s ’off access’ viewing angles may degrade as you increase your angle from it. So opting for the short wall would minimise this effect. Plus, sitting at a distance of about 12 feet from the screen is equal to sitting in the 2nd row of the cinema! But, it would not look out of place on the long wall.
Hope this helps?
I've been looking at this TV for a while, i have a small room that I'm going to turn into a home movie theater room, this tv is perfect for it, the brightness is not an issue because the room will be dark. Great video. 👍🏼
We are currently building a largeish Australian house. Earmarked a 98" for the living and 120" laser for the theatre. Not a TV snob, so something like this is bang on.
This or the TCL QM8 is a good choice (QM8 is this but MiniLED)
@@Thetechchap thank you for the advice.
I ABSOLUTELY would love to have a 98inch tv though I would much prefer the crisp image of LG G1 Oled that I have but because of the MASSIVE difference in cost, I would need to consider very carefully which I prefer.
What tv stand is that?
A great TV for my house, picture quality is fantastic - feels like you're at the cinema, easy to set up
It's definitely like a cinema! No-one regrets buying a massive TV (until you try and move it, anyway)
Hi..Tell me.please which is distance between stand legs of tv?
Is this better than the LG nanocell 86inch? I was thinking about this one. But i don't know
Hello Techchapman. Thank you for the review. This would be a great TV if it didn’t have the picture quality of a $150 TV. Pay 10x more fire 10x the size
I've had an OLED tv for several years now, there's no way I could go back to non OLED.
Agreed
You might be right. Although it would be a tougher call if it was a better mini led
Do you game on it a lot and do you get burn in?
Well, they checked one of the boxes needed...which was upping these giant tv's from 2 to 4 total HDMI 2.1 ports. Now if they can also add Mini LED and 2000+ nits HDR at 98" or so and beat the prices of big Oleds...it will be a tough choice.@@Thetechchap
yeah but the immersion you get with big size tv trumps it all. people in general wud pay for big size rather than big tech.
It saves wallpapering the wall I guess 😂
I just don’t know how good tv’s are going to get. I have a 75” Samsung QN90A and I find the picture fantastic. Will there ever be the best or perfect picture?
Finally Reviewed on UA-cam ❤🎉
Hello I'm wanting to know if this can handle live sport as I watch a lot of football here in the UK....
The TCL has drawn me in with the price for 98 inch....I've a 75 LG NANOCELL that's been great but I'm looking for something budget friendly and big.
Great review as it's difficult to get a UK based review so thank you.
Many thanks
It is a 144hz panel, it can handle fast motion. I have the 65" version. But the default image is garbage. The TV does too much image processing. I disabled everything, beside frame interpolation. Get rid of improved black, sharpening, noise reduction, color improvements, etc. Otherwise the channels will look like blobs of colors with no detail. The setting are by input, so you will need to do this multiple times.
I need a second TV, and I'm thinking of getting this one as main now that is a lot cheaper.
Interesting to see it's not mini-led oversea's... yet.
For similar money in China you get the 98" in mini-led with the same 144hz VRR etc
eg
- TCL 98" T7H - with 627 dimming zones at roughly 1600GBP
- TCL 98" Q9K - with 1536 dimming zones at roughly 2100GBP
Tempted to get one, don't have the wall space though!
Yeah it cannot hold a flame to my C2 OLED but it does hold its own. I love the thing. Got the 58 inch and i would not back to smaller 💯
This is crazy BIG 😍😮😊

How wide is your tv stand?
Thats just insane!
I'm definetely saving up for a 98" when GTA VI comes
You should probably give options for what to sit it on xD
Can we talk about where to get the table?
Hey watch The It Crowd the episode about moss and the german...😂😂
I've noticed that unless a TV is no less than 80 or even 85-inch diagonal, it does not look like even close to how it would, if we were within realistic distance from such views. Though I gave into getting 75 inch, because of the difference in prices, and it is a 120 hz. less than that is obviously not very good at all for live programs. But, I have not opened up the packaging yet, even after almost two years. Because I did not think through my very limited one room "apartment" And I did not buy or think about mounting options to fix extremely limited space. That may coast at least $300. to get above my head level mounted to make using it possible. So, I may need to get one of those very nice projector types I have seen.
Currently got a 75” looking to buy an 85”. It’s the biggest I can go before the field of view is too wide for my living room.
If you really want an immersive experience, I would go bigger than the 40 degrees recommended by THX (which would be around 100 inches to an 85 inch TV). A 1:1 ratio of distance and diagonal is the minimum to get that cinematic picture
LED v PJ for this price it’s hands down a win if you don’t want to spend over £8k ..
However maybe a 83” C3 / C4 would be a good compromise
How are the black levels
Why can't you get this 98" or even 85" in Canada??
I live alone, so the bigger the better, though I'll be going OLED or QD-LED on my next telly.
OLED is just like another category. You‘ll get pissed looking at your PC monitor after having an OLED in the living room. Go for OLED!
I think you should have a Chord Qutest, good cables, and amp and speakers, hooked up. You'll need to balance the system, so it's not bright or warm. Qutest is perfectly neutral so an excellent starting point.
Forget soundbars.
*WOWEE!* 😮
Nice! 👍🏻
The qm8 is the way to go atm, I have a 65 c1 and was going to get a 77 oled, but now I’m thinking that the mini led is so good from what I’ve seen, I’m going with the 85 qm8
Yeah QM8 with MiniLED would be my pick. Must admit I haven't seen one first hand just yet but I'd be interested in getting one in.
There are TVs now more than 100 inches.
Whoa what a huge tv but did the Champion just say the F bomb😂😅
Does Cousin John need a US movie friend once he finds the biggest f*cking TV? 😂
The lg looks so good at first i thought it was picture frame ✋🏼✋🏼
This is a perfect tv for your garage or home bar for sports & parties then have your OLED for personal entertainment. 😉
You should also want to always keep a 40° field of view so with a 98” screen you should sit 10 feet or closer.
If you sat looking at a beautiful sunset, how much field of view is best? I personally feel like a bigger field of view is more immersive
The one to get is the 98X955
I would like a 75 inch mini led tv but my bedroom is to small
Last year I had the option to buy 77inch QLED tv for the same price as 55inch OLED tv , so I went with bigger size QLED and spent the entire year watching low quality shit، ended up buying 55oled tv and couldn't be happier despite the smaller size
I think at this size I’d just go for a projector
Nice video
I would consider a big screen tv instead of my projector for my home cinema. But maybe not this one
An LCD with NO MINI-LED in 2024? 🤦... NO BUENO! No Buy. 🤷
When the tv is so mediocre the ambient room is more colorful than the washed out display 🙈. Usually his videos have pumped up colors and colorful displays look downright cartoony.
Go outside and enjoy infinit definition, size and brightness, it even have 3d without glasses and on top of that it's free !
You're not wrong! Could do with less time behind this desk...
Move the couch closer, same effect and lower power consumption.😊
No such thing as a too big TV. Got a 75" Hisense now but could imagine topping this with this 98" .
Just get a projector. I got Hisense 120"
oh my bro, 98inch beast is just hanging on edge 😂
Edging
@@Thetechchap thanks for correcting. i see yuh compensated mini led tech for the size. there is a hisense u7k or tcl qm8 mini led available in 85inch at same price . you shud have gone with that. 90 and 100ish inch tv with mini led are fairly new and highly expensive so they are in the range of 4 to 5 grand.
his muscles don't stop growing. man getting swole af sheesh
BIGGER!!
Mine was ordered and delivered to my holiday home but I will only able to look at it in July!!! Mostly for casual movies, series and gaming. Movie content will be going through appleTV 4K though…
I recently switched to the 100 inch U8K by Hisense for only $2999. it has been absolutely phenomenal and stunning for gaming and movies. I don’t care how much better OLED is but if it’s only 77 inches that’s awful.
When the mini-led version comes it's goodbye to OLEDs
Already available (sold out ATM though). Even bigger ones coming this year.
Please unbox the dell xps 8960 rtx 4080
Well, not all Americans live in barn-like mini-mansions. Like a lot of people, I live in a post-WWII starter house, an 1152-sq-ft Cape Cod style with a 726-sq-ft footprint. Excluding bathrooms, 4 rooms down- and 2 rooms upstairs. Allowing for doorways, windows, and half-enclosed staircase, the largest TV I can wall-mount is 60" (unless I mounted it directly opposite the 6-ft wide picture window, which is far from an ideal spot). There aren't any truly nice 58" or 60" TVs, so I stick to a 55" OLED. I could have a larger TV on a stand, but that takes up limited floor space from other furniture, and you have to allow for walking space. Theoretically I could mount a larger TV in the 2nd-floor bedrooms, which is not where you really want the largest TV in the house, and most of the wall space is canted at 45 degrees because in a Cape Cod the 2nd floor is essentially a furnished attic. That would actually be a convenient angle to watch TV from bed, but no one seems to make a wall mount designed to hold a TV flush to a downward-angled surface.
It
must weigh a ton!
Saw this in a shop and I'll say your video doesn't even show how big it is. It is really huuuuuge.
The bigger the TV, the bigger the fun.
dominates the room a bit though
Just a bit 😬
Awesome ❤
I have a Sony! TV.
Indeed, the UI response on this TCL is very impressive.
I am disappointed in my Sony.
I feel like this is the fourth time you've done this.
If you guys are willing to fork out some extra cash you can get the Mini Led version of this 98 inch tv with 3,000 nits for $3,500.
That's double the price, mind you
When the screen size increases, you cannot see well
Switched for far less = got a free review sample.
What is the game at 3:41? That is a big a** sword.
Final fantasy 7 remake
Someone just released a 110" and a 115".
That John who already bought 98" tv 😢
Bigger isn't always better, just ask your wife 😂🤣
😳
I would say a 65 inch LG Oled or Samsung Qd oled coupled with a Samsung Ambeo Max soundbar would be a amazing setup for 3K! Best display coupled with best sound...
it's too big to be 4K should be 8K at least
8K is moving at a snails pace when it comes to it's pricing being lowered and there is a chance the only manufacture who will be making them in the future is Samsung
Can you do Infinix Note 40. PLS PLS ★
Will u review the galaxy book 4 ultra?
I hope so! Don’t have one at the moment
97 inch Lg signature OLED TV waa 30,000
😬
You want to see big , Check out Linus Tech builds his own 2000" Gaming TV.
Did Linus teach tips use this TV a few months but it did not have chrome cast or HDR
Linus's was 115"
@@IXISSV ok
Any TV with streaming service buttons on the remote is a no for me
Good luck finding one. And here's the thing.... you don't have to press them (shocker!!)
I actually like having them honestly.
Amazing TV but can't go back from anything other than OLED
TCL 115" TV is better but too expensive! This TCL 98" will have to do ... for me.
Nice
Did not have four HDMI 2.1, has two HDMI 2.1 !
Bigger is always better - - love my 75”
Went back to my 65" after this and it feels tiny! It's OLED though, so I'm fine
Is 65inch your main TV at home?
Ok but buy two of them and then rotate them.
I do not want anything with Google spyware on it.
There is no such thing as too big when it comes to a TV.
This size should be on 8k
98 inches?
You did the right thing.
65 inch tvs are for the guest room or if you have kids (the kids room).
😳
Come one AMERICA! enough already...JUST when I thought the massive 85" was the biggest possible!
Now WE WANT A FREAKING 98"
ENOUGH!
Alot of blooming on that tv
