    I just want you to know that this guide was extremely helpful. I installed this camera yesterday and it took a reasonable amount of time to follow all your steps. Could have shown the wiring just a little more clearly but otherwise a solid tutorial. It was like having an experienced friend working on the car with me. Thanks man

      Hey man, Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad that it helped you. And I'll admit that I rushed through the wiring explanation! I'll revisit it in the near future since it's technically not done yet. Cheers!

    Thank you for this detailed video, it really helped a newbie to cars like me. I bought a salvage title 2015 370z that was already mostly fixed up.. however I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me. I am learning more about cars, and am adamant on doing every repair/upgrade myself. The backup camera is the third thing I added to my 370z, and I was able to get it installed and working first try after watching you! Getting the dash/center console apart was some work haha, but your other video on that helped a lot. Will definitely come back to your channel to continue learning for future upgrades. :D

      I'm glad this video helped you, Emily! Let me tell ya, i didn't know anything about cars until 2015 so it's never too late to learn and do things. The back up camera is a convenient mod for sure!
      Feel free to ask if you have any questions in the future!

    FYI, the wire you want to tap into is the orange wire for reverse, and not the red wire (which is the taillight on during night wire).

    Just approved your post in the 370z owners group on FB. I’ve been needing this for a while now. What would you wire the camera to if you wanted it to have constant power?

    • @ItsEricVenzon
      @ItsEricVenzon  3 роки тому

      I appreciate it man! I'll update this in the future but I would run a longer power wire from the camera along with the video wire an hook it up with the headunit's power and negative

      @@ItsEricVenzon Did you ever make an update video, or figure out how to have the camera turned on even when you're not engaging reverse?

    • @ItsEricVenzon
      @ItsEricVenzon  Рік тому

      @@ThatRedNismo I haven't had the time because I changed my headunit. But to make the camera on all the time is to tap the reverse wire from the camera (rear) to accessory which would be along way from the back. That's my hypothesis.

    Quick question- does anyone ever just go through the middle? The center console? I feel like that would be easier. I know you'd have to go past the stick, but when I gutted the car from all the excess wires when I first got it a few months ago, the dude before me had wires running past it on either side. I haven't taken apart the trunk enough to know if there's access to the back of the center to know tho, maybe that's why? Otherwise I feel like it might be faster and less work. Totally guessing here and just looking for the lazy way.

    • @ItsEricVenzon
      @ItsEricVenzon  3 роки тому

      Hey man, great question! I actually thought of that at first but upon researching on how to take apart the center section, it's actually more time consuming to pass through wires through the middle. You would have to remove both sides of the interior to get the middle part off. ✌🏼

      @@ItsEricVenzon ahhhhh ok. Honestly I keep starting to do this project and stopping. There's already a backup camera license plate frame wired in, but I don't think I can plug it into the head unit I installed. I may at least be able to follow the wires of the old one to wire the new one, but the new one is from this absurdly massive 12 inch screen from Alibaba I put in with 0 instructions. Maybe I'll give it another shot cause it looks like this one is wired the same exact way you did it, running along the driver side.

      I'm back, with my trunk apart, attempting to put this camera in AGAIN for like the 12th time LOL this time I've actually taken the tail light off so I'm already much further than I was before haha...this car tho... literally zero visibility when backing up. I can't take it anymore. Half the time when I'm backing out of a parking space I just kind of hold my breath and hope for the best lol

      @@ItsEricVenzon ugh I'm bout to blow you up again sorry lol... at 4:30 you tapped the appropriate wire- which wire? When I took my tail light off and followed the bulb, it's a green and black wire... Did you tap in somewhere else to a some red wire I'm unaware of further down the line? Because it looks difficult to tap into this green wire there isn't much room

    • @ItsEricVenzon
      @ItsEricVenzon  2 роки тому

      @@SwazNasty Haha it's all good. I'm here to help. I totally missed to point out which wire it was! My bad! As far as I remembered, it was the green/mint/teal wire. You will have to pull down or open up the sleeve/tape that's wrapping all of the wires and that's how I managed to wire tap it. I will upload an updated video this spring because I still need to hook up the headunit properly 😁
