You guys should take the winners of each price range, and see where the higher priced whiskeys come out when compared to less expensive. Might be interesting results.
This. Please do this.
My thoughts exactly
Good idea.
Yep
Yes please
Why am I watching a bourbon tasting at 9am? I may have a problem
Same
9am for you? 6am for me...😅
Or you could love on Oz like myself 👍
I do the same every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday haha
No, no,...your good, I'm watching it at 7:30 am PST,.😊 Furthermore,...its DRINKING bourbon at 9:00 am that is THE problem.😮
The fact that the only store around me that has ET BiB sometimes is now charging $33.99 for it, compared to the retail price of $23.49, kind of sours my opinion on buying one at the moment.
I love all 5 of these bourbons and usually have them all in my bar. Early Times winning does not surprise me, but seeing Wild Turkey 101 come in 4th was an eye opener. I'll bet if you did another blind with these same bottles a few days later you would come up with a different ranking. Great video and I'm really enjoying this series!
Their reactions during the original tasting confused me. I thought Early Times would be last and WT101 would be first, at least according to their reactions.
@@krisgaskins1 I agree 💯
I haven't had all of them, I use these reviews as what I need to try. WT101 is always i my bar for a go to nearly daily pour.
Gonna have to try Early times and 1792.
Ya trenton was going to kick out early times in the first round but kent kinda made him second guess it, so he kept it and ended up winning. Its really hard doing blinds with someone else cause you ended up taking what the other person says into consideration and dont always go with your gut. Almost like you dont want to be wrong, even though there is no being wrong when ranking them
@@jacksmith2315 picked up the Early times last Friday, I am impressed and loved the cost!
Thanks! Your channel is informative, fun to watch, respectful of the audience, along with those who seek good spirits to enjoy responsibility 😄
Great series, and these are the price points for many of us. Looking forward to next week!
Early Times and 1792 are on my to buy list. WT 101 is a staple in my house and I just found 2 bottles of Buffalo Trace about 2-3 weeks ago. They were $34 out the door so I grabbed them
Love the content that you two do.❤🥃
I was introduced to your channel by a coworker who said we live in the same town. I'm on the Northside by triangle and the new liqgo. Very new to bourbon but have been trying a ton of different stuff and hosting tastings for friends at my house. Been a blast! Hope to see you guys around at the local stores. Keep up the good work!
I have blinded these before and got the same results. Early times bib is the best taste and value, period. Especially the pre-sazerac version.
The look you gave Trenton after the rock comment and then you said, “don’t walk around with rocks in my mouth too often.” 😂😂😂
I've been with my wife's kids since one was a teen and two were in elementary school. They are in their 20s and 30s now. Our relationship is like yours. Its nice to see.
Been drinking bourbon seriously for about 6 months, you guys have pointed me onto some great bottles. One of my first was WT101, liked it a lot. Old forester 100 and 1792 are going to be near future purchases. Cannot find the Early Times anywhere in the Northern Burbs of Chicago. Same until recently with the Buffalo Trace, Binny's and Woodmans do not carry it. Was at Walmart, looked at their bourbon, Buffalo Trace. Absolutely love it.
Man, this is such a fun series especially because I’ve tried all the offerings. That being said, I have no idea which of these I’d pick in a blind, but that’s the fun part! Can’t wait for the next one
Early Times for me continues to beat anything even remotely close to this price point. I've done BIB blinds, by price point and every which way. I even use it as my house Old Fashioneds which I batch up for company. We love it! Good thing I'm friends with a chain liquor store owner that sells it to me for $15! 🥃
@@Digglerdirk79-l4y huh 🤔
Ha ha. The 4:47 mark is priceless. Especially if you have a son. That's the "He takes back after his mother's side" look. Priceless.
I've been buying Early Times BIB based on an early blind you did and I love it. I was hoping it would win and you didn't disappoint!
Buffalo Trace is unobtainium in Louisiana, you have to get buds to get it for you in Miss or ALA., you can sometimes get a bottle but it goes fast, I stick to my WT and JD
It is much easier to find in south Louisiana as of late. Walmart, rouses, super 1 etc
Nice comparison. Thank you..I did same taste test…#1 1792 #2 Wild Turkey 101 #3 “Tie”…Old Forester and EarlyTimes BIB #4 Buffalo Trace
The look on his face when she said 4th place wild turkey. 😂😂
Old Forester makes good whiskey. You can’t go wrong at any price point. The more you spend, the more you get with them. Their top of the line bourbons are amazing.
I can never find Early Times, but I can find Buffalo Trace for about $24 (or $51 for 1.75L). It sells out quick, but I can generally find it for retail price a few times a month - and I can never pass it up. I actually prefer it to Eagle Rare.
It may be over-hyped, but there's a reason for that.
I’d like a true blind test where someone sneaks into your bar and selects 5 bottles for you to rank, and you have no clue what they are. That would remove Confirmation Bias. And do it separately….no discussion as you are tasting…..then compare notes and ranking afterwards.
Early Times BiB was the only one I haven't had yet, and I just bought a bottle today (before watching the show). Surprised to see it come in first.
Great series and great entertainment. Keep it up. I see a Japanese bottle on your shelf. I’d be interested in seeing an all Japanese show. It a market I’d like to know more about.
Lol the look he gave him when he said it waste like rocks. Cracking me up
I took y’all’s advice on the Very Old Barton from the last blind test under $20. You guys are right! It is actually very good. $21 for a 1.75! Great advice! I plan to go through the top 5! Thanks!!! Cheers! Used it for the “Old Timer”. Ginger Ale, Lime juice and Bourbon.
Another great blind. I agree with the last place rating of Old Forester 100 proof. However, I'm a little surprised about the WT 101 placement, but the rest are a toss up, dependent upon my taste preference day by day. I m looking forward to the next tier!
I've rewound it 4 times and could not figure out the name on the $15 100 proof. Maybe I'll stumble on that video. Keep up with good work guys! Cheers!

Salmon probably not the best thing to eat right before a tasting flight, Trenton! I agree that Early Times BiB is a steal (putting aside the silly Brown Forman vs Sazerac arguments/comments on the internet) I have both and don't really taste much difference. Still a great buy although I'm a bit surprised by the Barton 1792 ranking. Thanks, guys!
I thought Trenton's mom wasn't there when I saw His hair. She would have commented before He came on set.🤣🤣🤣
Old Forester 100 reminds me of the old #7 Jack Daniel's back when it was still bottled at 86 proof.
I'm just like you, I can not go into perfume, candle or Bed and Bath with out getting an instant migraine. Old Times B&B ....excellent.
Guys… loved the video. I went to get one of my usual bottles of bourbon, Michter’s Small Batch. While there I saw they had the Early Times bottled in bond for $22, so I picked up a bottle. The cashier asked if I had ever tried it and he thought it was a great bourbon for the price. I agree with him and you guys. I think it’s pretty darn good. Thanks for the video. I’m looking forward to the next price level.
Another great video! It would be funny to run this back again next week in a double blind and see if the order completely changes. Those are all good bottles, and it's reasonable to think that any one of them could win on any given day.
At 21:00, when Kurt says, "I'm retiring". Burst out laughing. Instant classic.
Devils River, Benchmark (made by buffalo trace distillery, Larceny, Wild Turkey American Honey.. all under $30 very good stuff.
Trent nailed it ... I didn't want BT to win for the very reason he stated. But I really like it and when I find a single barrel release, I love it. Life is like that sometimes ;-)
Loving it and also Loved Curt's (sp) face where the Wild turkey Placed...LOL.... keep up the great work you guys are doing a great job!!!!!
Would have loved to see how Green River, Elijah Craig SB or Maker’s Mark 46 have done in the lineup.
Early Times BIB was my pick! This was honestly a fantastic lineup. You won't go wrong with any of these, and it just shows what you can get with $30 in your pocket.
I’ve bought this twice before first one was a bad batch with one of the worst noses ever. Next one picked up at Justin’s house of Bourbon. It’s not very good.
I found Early Times at a local liquor store for $11.99 about a week ago and got the Old Forester at a different store for $19.99 for 1.75. Both have been decent especially for the price.
I do not envy you both having to rate that lineup. Great selection
8:29 and Kurt put on his 'what you talkin bout Trent' face😂
Hey, I have actually seen this stuff on the shelves at my local package store. Glad to see the cheaper stuff getting some love here, but I still prefer the good ol' Benchmark No.8 for my go to cheap bourbon.
Usually I agree with guys all the time. Every time I’ve tried your recommendations they have been right on. One exception has been Buffalo Trace. I really don’t care all that much for it.
I have never had early times. It’s not sold up here. My #1 in this category is Elijah Craig
Wow, ETBiB won! That is awesome! I love that it is a combination of great taste and value. Getting harder to find here in Texas, but TW has it for $20.49. Crazy.
Thoroughly enjoy the longer videos. Keep up the great work, gentlemen
I get the soap thing. Was in Marshalls one day and came across a bunch of men's soap and regret not getting one that smelled like leather and..I'm gonna say pine maybe. A bunch of them smelled great. Tired of grabbing her strawberry peach stuff or whatever 😅
My order for these bottles:
1. Early Times BIB
2. 1792 Small Batch
3. WT 101
4. Buffalo Trace
5. OF 100
Every bottle is great but OF 100 always falls flat when I actually put it into a blind against similar bottles. Coopers Craft 100 would probably fair better in a blind but it isn't a national bottle and doesn't get the same recognition as these 5. Redwood Empires lineup is all $29.99 here and I would put any of their bottles over everything in this lineup except maybe Early Times BIB. Pipe Dream and Lost Monarch are bottles I can sip all night. OGD 114 would make my list of top 5 over everything under 1792 small batch too
"Why do I not want it to win??" cracked me up
Prilosec "help me please" was hilarious from Kurt
I bought Early Times BIB on Kurt's recommendation. Excellent pour for the price. Love your videos guys. Thanks!
Found Larceny Small Batch near me for $26.99. I couldn't believe the price compared to other places. Had my first taste last weekend and will be heading back to that store to buy more.
What tasting note do you remember having?
I dont love early times BIB but my local store had it on sale for $10.99, so I bought 3. Cant beat that price
1792 Small Batch - absolutely my jam at $30
Old Tub is under $20 in upstate NY - would have liked to see that among challengers last week.
Wow I figured OGD 114 would have been in the mix. ET BIB is a great pour and one of my favs.
I am a big fan of 1792. Hard to find where I live though. Wild T and Early times are on my next to buy list.
Can't find ET here. I like the other 4-although 1792 + BT are a little over $30 here in NC. Fun video.
Please add the Whiskey/Bourbon list to the video show notes/description above. thanks
Usually WT 101 is pretty decent for me in blinds but the last time(s days ago) I did a blind between Black Saddle, Four Roses Single, WT 101, and 101 came across very funky with a "grass stain" taste
Old Grand Dad 114 or Old Forester 100
If you can find a bottle, or have one shipped, Wellington Creek Bourbon. (Finished in Pinot Noir cask) is great for below $30. Fruity and sweet but light and delicate. Great sipper. Distilled in IN so probably MGP juice, then aged and finished in Miami.
Early Times was my Grandpa's go to
Love the show. Your wife has raised you both well…😂.
We all have different tastes I guess. Buffalo trace to me is well just whiskey. It's OK, but not exceptional. The best whiskeys under $30 are Old Grand Dad Bonded and Old Overholt Bonded. These weren't even mentioned. 1792 sell for $32 around here and so falls out of the $20 to $30 category. It does have a place in the liquor cabinet though! It is great at that price point. My favorite whiskey doesn't ever get mentioned. At a little higher price point, Uncle Nearest 1897 is about as much as I will spent for whiskey. It is incredible. The story is this guy taught Jack Daniels how to make whiskey. We are talkin subtle caramel, cherry and spice notes that can only be attributed to maple charcoal filtering. I don't know why it gets ignored.
I really wish we got the Early Times BiB up here, I think I'd really like it. I've never seen it in NH, VT, ME or MA.
I’ll take that Buffalo trace over the rest, unless the Old Forrester is 1920. I consider 1920 a higher end mid-level whisky.
So many good bourbons in that $20 - $30 range. Could also add OGD 114, Elijah Craig Small Batch, Larceny Small Batch, Weller Special Reserve and Redwood Empire Pipe Dream. I keep coming back to Early Times BIB. I have 13 bottles of it bunkered. 🥃
Weller Special Reserve is way more $ here than this range
@@donmorton3954it’s so weird how prices work. In Oklahoma I can find cases of special reserve for $23-24 750ml, but it’s the only Weller I have ever seen on a shelf.
@@donmorton3954 I am lucky to be able to get it for $29.99 around me.
Larceny beat out BT and WT101 in a blind for me. Made me realize I have a preference for Heaven Hill.
You all should each give them a rating 1-10 then just add your rankings together and that will give you your order. If there is a tie then do a head to head tie breaker through discussion.
Greetings from Jacksonville Florida USA. This price range makes sense for me. A 750ml / 25.8floz bottle has about 12 2-oz pours. That works out to $2.50 per pour. My cap is a $60 bottle, at $5 per pour. My palette isn't good enough to appreciate offerings much above that level, anyway. Btw, I have all four of these bottles, but cannot find the Early Times anywhere around here. Apparently, they just don't distribute it in North Florida.
I go to New Smyrna Beach 4-5 times per year and have been told by 2 different liquor stores that Early Times BIB is not distributed at ALL in Florida......?
Kurt is that guy at a bar who is always nice but is always crowding you and in your personal space.
1792 over Wild Turkey 101 is a crazy plot twist.
101 at that price point can’t be beat
I love my Wild Turkey 101 and Early Times is very nice too.
I am a mechanical engineer…and I have to do the hand motions every time I use a hose 😅
Those are five really good bottles each of them at a price that you won’t be disappointed
I love seeing the wild turkey master placing it in second to last and Buffalo trace in second.
Love to see that. BT getting so much hate recently because of the prices... it is a godly bottle though, it makes sense. Luckily always super cheap around here.
I can appreciate that line up all day
I taught my special needs students about making the “L” with both hands to determine left from right.
It’s a good strategy if you need it - nothing wrong with it!
Helpfull video I'm still searching for an inexpensive Bourbon. Here in Washington State liquor is expensive and we don't get a huge variety.
I'm not a big fan of Old Forester 1910 or the 1792. 1920 Old Forester is my favorite Bourbon so far but my gosh it's expensive here.
Glad I'm not the only one who likes Early Times BiB more than Buffalo Trace! The ET is just impossible to beat for the price to me.
Early Times BiB is my daily drinker and is way better than Buffalo Trace. BT has a sour note I'm not a huge fan of
I like all of them and have enjoyed each neat, with a splash of water or a cube and in an Old Fashioned but really, Early Times BiB is my go to lately. It's just good, simple as that. A good desert island bottle.
Y’all CRUSHED it!!! Well done!!! And what is that lovely piano music used on the outro?
Man when you said theres my lovely wife man thats awesome wish i could see mine. But i do have lovely girlfriend now thats gonna be my wife one day but i sure do miss her coming up on 2 years since she passed away.
Trenton - I ALWAYS do righty-tighty-lefty-loosy 😂 I wish MA got Early Times BIB. I can’t even get it online. It is on the list when I travel to add to my collection (at MSRP though). I have most of these bottles and cannot wait to get out of work and do this blind myself. It’s been a while since I’ve had any of those other than the WT101 (which I just replaced). Typically out of the bunch (other than the ET BIB) it turns out to be my favorite. Not a fan of the 1792 small batch as much. Great video! Looking forward to the next!
I've never come across ET BiB, so I can't speak for that, but I'm not sure if I would pick 1792 or BT as 1st, but of the remaining two, OF would definitely be last for my palate.
All of those are great pours! No problem with your ranking as that is how I'd place them as well. Love your content fellas!
I get the feeling Kurt hates the Yankees and Notre Dame for much the same reasons. Lol
In the $30-$40 range, I’d definitely nominate Four Roses Single Barrel 100 Proof. $36 at Sam’s Club right now.
On that list...1792 number one for me and also number one is OF. We can have 2 number one's, right?
Trenton, Im with you. The WT 101 does give me a hint of evergreen/pine. 😂
What a great lineup 👏
ALL of these are on the bartop at all times. You guys screwed up the Early Times BIB though - very difficult to get anymore 😢 Geez
When you think that you can get all 5 for the price of ONE 'limited edition' bs bottle, well, pretty simple choice.
Make SMART choices not influenced by distillery hype.
You can't collaborate on your rankings!!!!
You should EACH rank your picks and then compare. Otherwise it's a running "compromise" instead of two independent evaluations. C'mon gentlemen, be true to yourselves!!
Great video
I’ve noticed lately that these blinds have been more of a “consensus” pick between you two rather than letting each individual make their choices based on their individual preference.
I must have gotten a bad bottle of Early Times (the new one with the blue screw top) because it tasted stale and off. There's no way I'd pick it out of a lineup of those bourbons and say it was the best. Disappointing, too, because the last time I bought it was when it was the previous version, and it was great. In any case, I'll take OGD 114 over any of those anyway.
Early times wins all the time for you guys. And Ive yet to see it in any store in my area 😂. Never had it
Love the channel guys and have at one time or another had all of these 5 bourbons. And enjoyed all 5
Great show!
#1 and #2 (when available) are both favorite daily sippers!
