Trent.... You be you. Guess the whiskey. Write it down. Offer to eat a shoe if you are wrong. Let your dad do the "I don't think about what it is."
Agree we love seeing you guess and missing
The cheapest counts as the upper limit special occasion bourbon for me. 32:05 32:05 My go to is MM 46
For $27 bucks. It’s goooood.
Happy Friday!! Love me an early blind. For the one dealing with the hurricane, my prayers are with y'all.
I wonder how much cheaper our auto and home owner insurance would be if hurricane damage wasn't covered any longer? They don't want to cover my roof because it hails too often here. Yet there are people who live in places that are routinely completely destroyed and somehow keep getting their property replaced.
Old Grandad 16 Year hitting today. Cannot wait. 🥃
I genuinely try to hone in on 1 maybe 2 notes and let those take me on the journey. Kept getting frustrated thinking I need to be tasting an entire dessert table and only smelling rubbing alcohol

An $80 bourbon beats a $250 bottle. Why I’m not spending over $100 on any bottle.
Your gonna miss out on a lot of special bottles then 😂
Good for you. Some bottles are worth the extra price. Also... Lost Recipe is $60 and costco exclusive. It's basically a new wood finishing series but exclusive to Costco.
The Heart Release has been dropping at Costco in my area... $50. They are getting it by the pallet. People who were paying up to $150 on that bottle and trading for it on secondary are gonna feel a bit butt hurt but I've been warning people for months that it is a GIGANTIC release. I wouldn't be shocked if they produced 300k bottles of the heart release.
@@ewhitey18 I ain't missing out if I can't get my hands on them. Living in Kentucky and trying to get hold of an allocated bourbon is damn near impossible unless you want to spend double or triple or more over MSRP which I am not going to do.
@@sharthun2009 I'm a drinker, not a collector, and I'm right there with you. After all the many samples of allocated and special release bottles I've tried, there's nothing over $100 I can justify spending my money on.
@@ewhitey18 from what allocated bottles I’ve tasted, it’s a crap shoot I’m not willing to take.
I'm just getting into whiskey and you have one of the best channels for it. Thanks
I picked up the MM at Costco last week for $59.99.
Did the same yesterday, read it was a Costco exclusive
Same at Costco in KC for $59.99. This Costco also have The Heart Release for $49.99 limit 1 per customer!
Same. Saw a small stash on the shelf the other day here in Denver. For $60, couldn't pass it up. I might go back a grab a couple of more.
I enjoy a good aroma, but also don't really care. Whiskey is for drinking.
I have found that overall Yellowstone is underwhelming..
I rarely bother with the nosing…doesn’t really matter to me. I’ll nose it right up front, just because, but after that I don’t really bother with it. It’s all about the taste.

1. Skibidy Sigma - I kid you not. They say this.
I got on the Remus Repeal Reserve train with the VII, buying it a few times, so I’m glad to hear the VIII also “slaps” (still waiting for it to show up in my local Remus-stocked store).
There really isn't anything special about that Maker's either. People are flipping these for 100's of dollars on the secondary and it's just a stave finish store pick for Costcos.
Gotta love it❤. I"m the same ( cheap ) a Benjamin is my top. 👍🇺🇲 Thanks 👍
"Expensive Isn't Always Better". Exactly, this is why I will never pay more than 100.00 for any bottle of bourbon, even 100.00 is questionable to me.
Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses, Eagle Rare (if you can find it) prove this statement. All those bottles are $35 and under and are my fav.
Me, too. I have bottles I love in the $45-$60 range. For me, splurging means I might buy the MM in this test (not that I have any real hope of finding one!).
I just joined! Bout time I did. I watch all of your vids. I just looked for Maker's Mark lost recipe and it sold out across the United States as far as I can tell. Is there anywhere anyone is selling this that will ship the bottle?
St Louis Costco's have a ton..just came in this week
@@johngilbert9420 I belong to Costco, but I'm in Florida.
My buddy and I were drinking the Remus 8 and we both agreed that it was not an overly complex nose but it was an extremely pleasant nose all throughout One of those ones you could have just sat there and smelled for a long time before you even started drinking
I have a 5th grader and they say “Skibidy Ohio” when something is terrible. No idea what the heck that means!!
2nd and 6th grader here. Same talk here. Lol
My kids are too little, but my friend has a 12 year old that says the skibidy Ohio thing. I asked him why that means bad, and he said, "nothing good comes from ohio." The kid has never left the state before. The skibidy part is from a weird UA-cam video I think
OMG @17:00 I thought T said I get a little bit of “anus” 😂😂😂
You guys like might lean more toward Wheaters tho tbh
Good morning gentlemen, so glad to be first
Can we do a Remus repeal reserve blind?
Great question - nose vs palette. I find it fun when both are good to me. It's like a fun surprise. I love to go back days or weeks later and see if it happens the same way it did on first blush. It's obviously a bummer (CAP 🤣) if the palette is not just a departure, but a let-down...
I’m not a Maker’s fan (though, like Larceny, maybe there is some high proof version out there I’d like). But can’t go wrong with Four Roses non-yellow label. 😊
Happy Friday y’all!
Spell check got me
LOL. No wonder Trenton doesn’t remember his Bible History… H loves that “ Devil’s Candy ‘ LOL that’s what we called that Black Licorice candy…. I still hate to smell it ! LOL
Every time I get a $70, $80 bottle of bourbon (that's as expensive as I'll go) my wife just uses it to mix with her Diet Dr. Pepper or something. I'm like man pick the $20 Gentleman Jack or something but nooo.
I tried mm46 the other day and I was excited to try it. It smelled and tasted like men's shoe polish. All of our pallets are different. I always end up going back to Old Forester 1910.
Love the content, but when your scoring lineup is that close, I’d highly recommend tasting through them backwards. Transitioning from one whiskey to another does make an impact. B, C, D…water…D, C, B. So on and so forth. Results. Just a thought. Might change your results sometimes.
Great video gentleman! I may have to work a few extra shifts and look for the Maker's Mark offering. Looking forward to the Friday Night Live! Will be good to see Kent as well.
Seems from their reaction that having all 4 of these on my shelf and alternating among them day to day would be a slice of heaven . But since I can't do that , I'll happily settle for their number one pick . Kudos to Maker's Mark once again !
How do they get vanilla and no "deep dark and rich" from The Lost Recipe Series? That bottle tastes like dark cacao to me. It does lack sweetness but it is rich and dark. I could see vanilla bean but not "vanilla".
New to drinking Bourbon's and Whiskey's but I've noticed that on the back of the throat I get a dryness. Is there a technique I am missing or is that just something you get when drinking/tasting Bourbon's?
Trenton, you should pronounce anise like “a niece” when you pronounced it on here it sounded like anus…nobody but dogs want to smell anus!
Really bad = Ohio
Really good = Fire
Cuyahoga River is both.
This really comes down to which mashbill you prefer not really which is better due to the price. If you don't like the wheated Makers mashbill you probably wont like it more than the Four Roses which tends to lean towards higher rye content. Makers uses the same mashbill for all of their recipes then the just adjust every release off of that one single mashbill.
I really enjoyed this blind. I think the format of new and untried bottles is extra special. I'm going hunting for a bottle of the Makers Mark.
Great vid. Cognac is a brandy. Yellowstone needs to get their spirit lingo buttoned down. All cognac is brandy but not all brandy is cognac.
I also found Makers Lost Recipe at my local Costco for $59.99!
Rye spice > sweet wheat
I have a feeling I would have put the Maker's in 3rd.
Happy Friday K & T., u 2 are best-est : bourbons blind for College Football season is priceless ! u save me mega-bux !
If the palate is different and just way more amazing than the nose I do love that experience. However when I’m looking for a regular sipper I prefer it when the nose matches the palate.
I didn't know the French Mocha was retired but my favorites go heavy on the French Mendient or Mocha staves.
The MM was part of this quarter’s Whiskey Drop. LOVE it!
hot cinnamon rolls with icing rolling down sides and a huge dab of butter on top; nothing better! We love you Trenton but you're wrong on the rolls! LOL
Yall should buy an oak barrel and do an infinity run with all the extra bottles you've accumulated
Curious how MM lost recipe series would do against the heart release? Which coincidentally is the one you pictured at the lower left when tasting the lost recipe series
I like when the whiskey tastes a little different from what it smells. It feels like I'm getting even more notes for my buck, even if I don't get to taste all of them.
You need to blind all the cellar aged releases with the lost recipe Now! Maybe throw a couple other makers in there
Pretty much the same for me. I'll nose it and then taste and go....'do I like or not...maybe a meh?
If the nose is boring but matches then I feel let down. I would much rather the nose be interesting even if it doesn’t match. Obviously interesting and matching is the best.
I'm curious. Which of the four would you two buy......again?
Great video. Loved the conversation about enjoying in the moment and not trying to guess what the bottle is.
Ummm I like when you guess. Forget the comments. You do you Trenton!!
To answer the question, I think it's a let down when nose doesn't match the taste. Trent, you be you as always!
Don’t know why but I do not like the black glens…I want to, I need to see the golden liquid 🤤
14:38 with something new or a blind, try - taste, nose and then 2nd sip instead - the perception from the nose can influence the expectation of the palate which (for me at least) is why if i nose first then its the 2nd or 3rd sip that will align with my lasting view of the bottle.
I am dying to find one of those MM releases. I got a bottle of the heart release and love it so now they have me fully hooked
Trenton at the 17:01 mark
What I hear: “I got a little bit of anus.”
Me: WHAT?!
“Oh, ANISE!!!”
@M2TH3P 😆 that is what I heard too.
Funny how the one I'm interested in is inevitably last in a blind! 🙄😁
Picking up my Lost Recipe today. I’m excited to try it!
This slaps tooh! Hehehe
Good spread here, have a great weekend fellas
Please Please stop smacking your lips!
Makers Lost recipe is NOT the Heart release. So which did you review? Was it stave profile 1, 3, 0, 6 (roasted French mocha), 0 or the actual Heart release 2024 with 10 French iak staves
The first one. He read the label and it's the same I have. It's $60 at our Costcos here in Denver. I grabbed one and might go back for another. Hard to pass up at that price.
There is a ton of allocated stuff out right now sitting on the shelf.
Dutch oven cake with cherry dr pepper as the liquid
Am with Trenton re the ratio of roll to icing. It needs to be right!!!
Mocha staves are pretty much an automatic buy on site for me.
I enjoy it more when aromas are different the on the palate
This is exactly why I catch every video 😅
You guys can’t keep up with allocation, I can’t find any allocation. What’s the secret to allocating?
Being really good friends with a liquor store owner.
Only one of these I’ve seen on the shelf is the Yellowstone. 😢
The yellowstones are hot garbage to me
Where can I even find that four roses
Dog water is lowest on Trenton’s scale
Trenton, what’s the availability like on the MM lost recipe? Does Harry have it?
This release is currently a Costco exclusive. I picked one up yesterday for $59.99. Seen it going for up to $400 secondary which is crazy.
I love those Glencairn's!
You could add ‘Gucci’ to the scoring list. The kids use it these days as good, cool, or excellent.
@SLB Drinks, please don't.
Wrong graphic on the MM.
I'm with Trent on the connection roll
Rancid is what my son says lol 😂
You guys are awesome
Repeal V is great!
Fun flight🥃👍

I need the story of why Trenton was biting on a raw cinnamon stick lol

@@slbdrinks always love the random tasting notes. I also agree a cinnamon roll needs a balance of bread and icing esp when fresh out of oven.

I don't care at all about the aromos! I have cologne if I want to smell something. You know what smells amazing, Crown Blackberry, you know what taste like 80s cough medicine.... Crown Blackberry. I want what I'm drinking to taste good, if it smells good too, it's just an added bonus to the experience for others.
What's with all the ads all of the sudden? Very detrimental to the viewing experience.
Unfortunately google controls all UA-cam adds. I wish we had a say so on frequencies and types of adds but we don’t.
You're putting too much emphasis on nose. I buy bourbon to drink it, not smell it.
I'll sit and sniff a glen of bourbon for a half hour and forget to sip while me and the wife watch a show or movie. I love the nose of a good drink.
1/5 = dog water, 2/5 trash, 3/5 mid, 4/5 slaps, 5/5 cooks
Got the Makers at Costco for $60
So dad has been saying don’t guess what bourbon it is just enjoy, no the kid reads the comments and has an revelation to just enjoy the pour 🙄
It annoys the hell out of me that the glasses are left to right when I am looking at them. All of us spent 12 years or more learning to see things in reverse automatically and then you do this. Just stop lol
Ouch on the Four ROSES!!!! $250.00!!!!!
