As one of your newest followers I was pleased to see this latest post Alina. The Mayan Tulum ruins are in such a beautiful setting. Appreciate your viewpoint on the pros and cons of Tulum.
I spent a ton of time in tulum in the 90’s. The beach road wasn’t paved; a cabana was $3 with sand floors, a mosquito net and hammock hooks. You could bring your own hammock or rent one for $1. The property we stayed on was put up for sale for 20 or 30k in 1997 or so. My wife and I went down a few years later and the same property was again for sale for like 4 million with a couple of condos on it. I get that progress is inevitable, but it breaks my heart to see what tulum has turned into in recent years. They market everything as “eco-chic, which is code for “expensive with no A/C and run on diesel generators with a few solar panels to make it look like we are environmentally conscious.
Great assessment Alina. Private Cenotes are truly magical and unique to the Yucatán peninsula. The Mayan ruins are awesome as well. The touristy places are the most expensive and the least impressive.
A big part of that popularity comes from the stunning natural beauty found all along the coastline, where azure blue Caribbean seas gently lap up amazing white sand beaches.
Beautiful video Alina! Such a pity that you had to face these disadvantages, as there are plenty of other destinations which are as nice as Tulum but more affordable. Perhaps the locals try to take advantage of it because it is a renowed place, but this happens also in Italy. Anyway the video was fantastic and the place gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your adventure in Mexico.
Oh dang I didn't even know about the Tulum ruins, but tbh they looked even nicer than Chichén-Itza! I appreciate the honest takes about prices and places value though, thanks for keeping it real!
The Tulum ruins are much better than Chichen-itza. In my opinion. And being high up on a bluff overlooking the water is quite nice as well. Sadly, with the way Tulum has changed over the years, the ruins are the best thing there now- that’s mine and my wife’s opinion.
Harriet and I have been to Tulum. You were spot on with your tips. It doesn't help when so many Americans go there when there are so many other destinations in Mexico. However, in the Cancun Area. We found Merida reasonably priced and quite safe. It was many years ago. I like the fact Alina that you are always willing to inform and explore off the beaten path. The video was well done. Harriet and I enjoyed it. Also, Thank you for your kind words on the Yuki pics. Sending you lots of love. 💖💖 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.
Hi Alina, your video in Tulum Mexico is a beautiful and amazing , I love the places you been featured .. see you on your next journey.. enjoy your travel and keep safe .. bye,,
Hi Alina, on my trip to Mexico, I also visited the archeological zone in Tulum. But stayed in Playacar. Not directly on the beach. I had a 30 minute walk to the beach. No seaweed problem was there at the time. The water of the sea was warm as a bathtub. But I never swam in a cenote. Thank You for taking us to the snorkeling tour! And also for the warning. At the time I was there, I was warned, the Peso sign and Dollar sign are very similar. On the day, the cruise ships came, they charged the prizes in Dollar. On all other days, the displayed amount was charged in Peso. Best Regards, and happy travels, Ralf
Yeah I sadly heard a tourists being scammed by that as well! There’s some jungle breakfast you can have where a couple thought it was 150 pesos ($7) and then they wanted $150 USD 😳
As an ambivalent beach goer, I found this a review that I liked, about a popular tourists local. I like that you also did a logical cost benefit analyse to explain how to experience the same locals for 1/4 to 1/3 of the price, but you allow for the I want what I want accommodation or experience no matter the cost. I liked the tour of the cenotes, and the Tulum Mayan ruins. So as always you give the good, bad and indifferent of the places you highlight, and in many cases, introduce to many of your viewers. That's why I'm a subscriber, cause I know I'm getting the straight goods from a talented travel hostess.
Ive been going down to the Yucatan for years. I like to visit the ruins in the area: Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba, Ek Balam, Uxmal. There are some where you can still walk up the temples. I have stayed in Valladoid and at resorts. I love it! Funny thing is that in all those years I have never once set foot in Cancun itself. I've seen bars and touristy areas before. I'm good.
Guys I'm Mexican and I suggest to visit Tulum from November to February. Perfect weather, no storms, no seaweed. At the left side of Hotel Zone you have the Public Beach which name is Paradise Beach for a REASON. You perfectly stay at Tulum downtown, bike at morning to public beach and at night enjoy at a world class restaurant or Beach club. Besos 💋
Just came back from Tulum myself and found a lot of the same problems… found Tulum Town so much more authentic and accommodating for tourists/travellers especially if your solo travelling. By all means go and experience Tulum Beach area for a night or two but I couldn’t justify the prices for drinks, food and taxis knowing that it is all half the price 10 minutes up the road in the town and all actually just as good. Also found the same problem the one night I was in Rosanegra beach club… 1 barman telling me a bottle of beer was $170 pesos and another barman at the other end of the bar trying to charge me $200 pesos.

Hello Alina, Nice too meet you, you are very beautiful, great that you enjoyed this trip, when I have the opportunitty I will travel. How much does it a hug from Colombia and we keep in touch 😘
Went to olive garden spend $309 dollars left 30 tip in cash next thing my bill when up 25 % without my permission when question that move they said it was the tip. I said I left 30 dollars at the table that's not enough? They didn't like me questioning them so that's something going on not just in Mexico but around the world you just got to keep you eyes peeled 😎
I was there last October looking at Condos. In my estimation, greed has taken over. Everything that touches a tourist is multiples above what a local can afford. Public beach access is non-existent. No city planning evidenced by e-coli entering the ground water in places, roads that are way too narrow and slums located next to luxury resorts. The drug cartels have invaded and the murder rate is above the roof. Heavily armed police are everywhere. There are some good points. Condo prices are a steal. There are better places to visit in Mexico.
The speed bumps are the WORST in Tulum! Cancun has them but not the extent of Tulum and the dirt roads are also bumpy and bad. Expensive condos with no paved roads or parking.
Tulum is more than beaches and sun is a place where you can learn a lot about the Mayan culture and visit the cenotes, the villages, the jungle. and if lately there is a lot of sargassum due to global warming thanks to giant companies that are not aware of the damage they do.
In the late 80s Tulum was just a small beach, I had practically no money and that wasn’t a problem It was a wonderful time there was no city just the beach
@@peaceevol . There is nothing illusive about our notion of time. I can never go back in time and we will all die at some point. You can debate semantics all day but its irrelevant.
Cancun and tulum are cool but the thing I hate the most ..everyone expects a tip like for even something so small…I mean everything that includes all inclusive resorts..what’s the whole point of calling it all inclusive if everyone in the resort just looks down on u for not tipping ..u already spent easily 400-1000 a night
Praia aí no México e pouco parecida so que mais bonita do que na Bahia no Brasil mais você já visitou jalapao Tocantins ? E já visitou Amazônia ? Você passou pouco tempo ne no Brasil ?
You need to get a long sleeve rash guard for swimming and snorkeling and bike riding PLUS 30-50 sunscreen!!! You will fry otherwise.Take it from me.I LIVED in the sun and on the beach when I was younger and now I LIVE at the Derm doc's office!! When I started going to Tulum, the town wss very small town and u just parked at the ruins and walked down! Hardly anyone there.Ha Ha! Actually, although the setting is pretty and popular, it's not really a very important Mayan ruin. I would not visit the area today.Too many tourists, too much over development with no infrastructure, (including lack of sewer system, with waste flowing into cenotes!) lack of safe building codes, band local drug gang activity. Then there is the sargassum seaweed, which you will also find in Playa del Carmen and Cancun. The overgrowth is caused by climate change, nitrogen rich ag runoff, and Saharan wind storms.
I´ve heard about that. If you had gone to Morro de São Paulo or Boipeba - Bahia when you were in Brazil you would have enjoyed it much more. Nice pousadas, warmest water in the country, lots of natural pools, nice vibes, quite safe(no police ;) kinda like in Europe and with lots of foreign tourists), pretty quiet depending on where you,. Much cheaper by the way.
400 a night?! Ridiculous prices for a beach like that. I've learned there's alot of hype in Mexico for places that aren't that great - it's just a way to get tourists to spend money.
A 100 dollars us for a simple lunch there?! That's criminal. Sorry, but that's sick!!. It's Mexico, for God sake! Greedy, non-Mexican business developers in that region no doubt.

@@peaceevol . Maybe you should cut back on the drugs.
Sea turtles are cool!
You look like that painting, Aphrodite Rising From The Sea, when you come up after diving. There ain't no cure for "Sexy"...👍
Lymbo sucks. I didn't see in the text exchange where they made you whole, maybe I missed it?
I think this shirt cloth is red printed 💖
Cancun and tulum are cool but the thing I hate the most ..everyone expects a tip like for even something so small…I mean everything that includes all inclusive resorts..what’s the whole point of calling it all inclusive if everyone in the resort just looks down on u for not tipping ..u already spent easily 400-1000 a night
Nice place to visit Alina 👍🆒😎
beautiful 😍
I liked your vlog and I wish a great day
Thank You

Aline quando vc vai voltar para o Brasil e visitar o rio Grande do Sul
Once in a while, you just have those shades for tourists.
Good thing you took off!#
Gee , Seaweed destroys engine motors
The most place in expensive mexico 😂😂😎🤌🏻
Great
😊
You should come visit the beaches here in Texas. Way less hassle and seaweed, though some years it can be bad.
There are beaches in Texas? 😄 you kidding 🤪
You’re trying to compare the Caribbean to Texas 😭😭😭😂😂😂😂
I´ve heard about that.
If you had gone to Morro de São Paulo or Boipeba - Bahia when you were in Brazil you would have enjoyed it much more. Nice pousadas, warmest water in the country, lots of natural pools, nice vibes, quite safe(no police ;) kinda like in Europe and with lots of foreign tourists), pretty quiet depending on where you,. Much cheaper by the way.
Good evening madam I'm happy to see you good health and Nice minu yummy 😂 ma'am take care yuor biking 😂
6:48 this is important
400 a night?! Ridiculous prices for a beach like that. I've learned there's alot of hype in Mexico for places that aren't that great - it's just a way to get tourists to spend money.
Most major tourist destinations are nothing more than tourist traps.
Have u ever been to the Mexican Caribbean ? There’s no hype it’s fkn Awesome that’s why people go lol
I payed 120$ a night in front of the beach for 10 nights it was worth every penny.
Hi
You are looking so cute n beautiful in red shirt 💝
Hello Alina
The seaweed gets worse every year
Excellent bargain
Liefs is the best place to eat and drink in Tulum
A 100 dollars us for a simple lunch there?! That's criminal. Sorry, but that's sick!!. It's Mexico, for God sake! Greedy, non-Mexican business developers in that region no doubt.
The only good thing about Tulum is the beaches the rest is not worth it.
