Quarantine In Paradise | Getting Thailand's Phi Phi Islands All To Myself!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Imagine experiencing the beauty of Thailand's famous Phi Phi Islands in Krabi, basically all by yourself! These islands were made famous by the Leonardo Di Caprio movie 'The Beach' and it was truly incredible to be able to see Maya Bay with literally no one else around. This was a once in a lifetime experience considering the Phi Phi Islands are one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations. The nature here is outstanding and I would highly recommend coming here once tourism opens again in Thailand. Let me know in the comments if you've ever been to Phi Phi and what your favorite part was! xx

SafetyWing (best for younger travelers + digital nomads): safetywing.com?referenceID=alinamcleod&Ambassador
I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.

i was in Maya bay in Jan 2018 a few month before it was closed.. the boat drops you on the other side of the island and you have to walk through the island to get to Maya beach. the island and views are breath taking. Maya in India means Illusion. trust me the island is so beautiful, its feels like a spectacular illusion.. i am still speechless..
I visited phi phi island 6 yrs back. That time the island was full with tourists. Now its look different and wonderful without any crowd! You are lucky that you enjoyed the actual natural views.
I found the Bamboo Island shot with the dark storm clouds gathering over the turquoise water and tethered boat against the contrasting colour of the beach cinematically evocative. What gorgeous light!
It really was. After I filmed the outro it poured so hard you could barely see that far out!
@@AlinaMcleod You gotta love the weather tho,, its still awesome,,, yeahh.
You're lucky to stay alone in such incredible place! That's is real relaxation, without annoying crowd...
Only you and beaches, you will never forget the feeling.
@Popeye , yes, mass tourism and third-world population growth has ruined a lot of good things since the 1980s.
I think it's lame being alone on a beach and I will want to forget it immediately.
Real nice video, thanks for taking us along.Hope all your days will be happy....
What a tropical paradise! To be on such a beach without a bunch of tourists around must have been amazing! Thanks again for sharing!
i spent Xmas 2017 in Phi Phi and New Years Eve 2018-19 in Phi Phi. what an amazing party island..
Phi Phi was definitely one of my highlight when I visited Thailand. Didn't really know what to expect but I ended up staying longer than I initially planned.
I was there in 2021, the empty beaches were awesome
This is indeed so awesome, the beauty of Thailand's famous Phi Phi Islands in Krabi dear Alina Mcleod! Fantastic and mesmerizing scenes, a must see place that is for sure! Your video is detailed and very much informative! The truth is that these enchanting locations are the best without a crowd and too much of a bustle! Nature is always awesome and a great inspiration! Thanks for sharing this mesmerizing experience with us! We joined your impressive and very much lovable channel! With friendly greetings and kind wishes, Alex and Alexandra
I really want to travel like this. I'm a Thai, I used to go when there were a lot of people. It's very beautiful.
To be the only one there is just unreal. A once in a lifetime experience! Real smart move to travel to Thailand at this moment. Really smart!
Throwback to 2007!! Maya beach back then was full of people, really packed, it’s good to hear they have changed things now to preserve it
This reminds me of the film THE BEACH. This film constantly makes great emotional impact on youngster even today.
3:51 WOW! Spectacular!!
8:01 Awwww....PARADISE IN BLUE.
It's the island 🏝 where The Beach was filmed.
I will watch the movie again tonight!
The hotel On On is on Phuket.
Wow! Beautiful! I love snorkling! You are privilidge Alina!
Perfect time to sit down and watch another amazing video. Fantastic!!!
Thank you, Alex!
wherever you go always keep safe Alina, always appreciated for what you have shown us all about the current Thailand situation
Hi, I traveled through sea from 1988 to 2012 until I was broke and had to go back to work. the best decision of my life! Much has changed in this time for the positive and of course for the negative. Corona has once again given you the opportunity to experience something unique, tourist-free Thailand. Congratulations that you took this chance and thank you for sharing it with us.
your videos are very good, your editing skills are excellent.
Wish you the time of your life
Thank you very much!
You are exactly right. Phi Phi island and phuket are very expensive more than local Thai can afford. But during Covid time things were different. The hotel prices dropped more than 60% and the best thing is the nature has been recovered from overtourism in past years. A year since covid hit Thailand I really enjoyed island hopping around Phuket, Krabi, and other expensive beach destination with affordable price and no crowd.
Alina, this is by far one your most beautiful videos.
Phi phi at times of COVID is once again the paradise it used to be before "The Beach".
But then, "ouch", these sunburns must have been very painful.
WOW! shame about COVID but experiencing these amazing places, on your own is just my kind of heaven.
I would be sitting there for hours just taking it all in, with some snorkeling breaks obviously but I cannot think of anything better.
Just a memory lasting a lifetime 🤩🤩🤩
What a wonderful experience in paradise. And have it all to yourself! Envy, envy.........
Went back to look at this vlog again, it never grows old. The beauty of the Phi Phi islands shows why it's s a destination place. Alina you have succeeded in bringing it to us. Thank You! Harriet and Jim Richmond, Va.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Recipe for an AMAZING video:

+ Misha (Editor).

= AMAAAAAAAAAZING VIDEO !!!!!!
You guys truly rock!!!!!!!!!!! Great TALENT runs in the family. One thing I love about Alina's channel, is that she never fails to impress her viewers with her incredible artistic talent. You can tell the love, care, passion, sweat, and tears behind putting together this great video. The need to deliver the best footage EVER!!! An artist relentless pursuit for perfection. Always thriving to fine-tune her craft. My most sincere thank you Alina for achieving that & blowing my mind once more. Great job! This truly is a five star video. PS: Never stop sending so much love and positive energy through your videos. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Aw I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 😁 Thank you!
Some people would pay millions to have those islands to themselves Alina even though you were effectively marooned. Especially Maya Bay looking almost as pristine as it was shot in "The Beach". The image I saw before they closed it was literally 100s/1000s of tourists and hardly a grain of sand visible. It's probably been over 10 years since I've been there but the overwhelming beauty of those islands still has an impact on me today especially watching your video. Whilst you may have been almost alone apart from the resort workers, you were kind enough to bring all of your fans along with you :-)
It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience!
Quarantine on a beautiful island alone is a bestseller in the making...enjoy 💡🏖 write a book 📚
wow and super wow, never in your life you think you'll be able to have the entire sea area all to yourself and the fishes are undisturbed and you can swim together with them right beside you. How lucky you get to experience this.
It truly felt like once in a lifetime 🙂
When I visit the Phi Phi islands it was packed with tourists. What a way to experience it all on your own. It's like having a private tour.
I've been to the same beach and to exactly the same hotel a few years ago. Crazy to see the video of Long Beach completely empty. I was also to Maya bay and I was horrified at the number of tourists there were there... What an amazing experience you had, a private beach just for yourself! Thanks for sharing this beautiful content!
Yes, definitely an experience to remember!
I think this is the best time to explore nature. Well done Alina
This video left me feeling a strong sense of wanderlust. What an amazing experience you had to have that area basically to yourself!
Woww!!!! Very beautiful 😍🏖️🏝️🌏
I love Thailand 🏝️🏖️🏝️🏖️🏝️🏖️🏝️
Wow, I had visited Phi Phi a few months before the latest COVID-19 pandemic, at that time tourists were so few. Now, it was so so few.
thank you for the video you made. i also came to this island in 2016. they are really beautiful. this video of yours revived my memories again.... thank you
Just really beautiful and amazing!! We would love to quarantine at Phi Phi island with you there!! Especially being at the Bamboo island alone by yourself, that it’s one of the lifetime experience!! ❤️❤️🙏🙏🤟🤟
Beautiful images. I'm impressed with your camera work.
Thank you!
Alina, beautiful drone shots. Glad you were able to at least tour some of the islands around Phi Phi. 👍❤️
You really are a prisoner in paradise! You make everywhere you go seem so inviting...thank you for that...stay safe and have fun!
Thank you!
Wow !You’re in a real paradise . You are a lucky lady .
The Phi Phi Islands were gorgeous... Bamboo is one of those castaway islands in Robinson Crusoe. I was half expecting Robinson and his Girl Friday to put in an appearance! Surprised the staycation season was shorter than expected. You would think boats would have service at least until the fall. Lucky you that you got there at exactly the perfect time, the quarantine notwithstanding. Any later and you would have missed out. Still more things to see on Phuket that you’ve booked.
Looking forward to your next vlog.
Yes, was very fortunate to get in when I did because I think it’s still closed to tourism now.
we can say this is real paradise of thailand . Alina enjoying this uunmmm very good .
Wow what a stunning place and water
Great place to hang out without the pressure, huh? Well, as always you made a surprise situation one that I enjoyed a lot. Often hear of these kind of getaways, but you got to experience it, that makes you a grade A Vlogger of Travel. I know that most people would have been so angry and upset about the change in plans, but not you, you just have that ability to roll with the times, and that's why you are successful in what you do. And besides, where else could you have such a wonderful time doing it? Loved you drone shots, very nice, Alina!! Onward to the next dream, looking forward to it very much!! Be safe there, and share your happy smile! Cheers!!
Thank you! Yes, in these times I think we have to be ok with being flexible and not planning too concretely!
@@AlinaMcleod Definitely right, Alina! Turning a disappointment into a great time is easy to do when you follow that rule. We all learn from that for sure!
It’s so surreal to see that place again with none of the tourists around
I went on Phi Phi Island tour but from Krabi ...got to swim and walk on Maya Bay before they closed it was amazing but too many tourists! Can’t wait to visit again one day when this ghastly pandemic ends! You where lucky to visit island without tourist thanks sharing!❤️🇬🇧
That edit skills on point! good job Alina!
It was actually my cousin Misha who did this one. He did a fantastic job!
@@AlinaMcleod nice of you for sharing credit
What a great place to be quarantined. Happy to see you smiling and having a wonderful time my beautiful friend. 🌹😘♥️
you're out of your mind if you think getting quarantined by globalist psychos anywhere is great. sheep.
This was completely incredible. You are a travel hero. Absolutely stunning work!
Thank you so much 😀
Wow! Great opportunity to be there without all the tourists! The first time I was there was in 1997 when they just had a small pier and few tourists.
Great video and content, hopefully I will be there next month if this 'sandbox' thing takes off.....have fun on your travels
Really nice video...sharp, have stories and added music at the right place. I hv just subscribed. Yes I hv been to Phi Phi and Phuket...ang Bangkok.
OMG. So gorgeous there. Very nicely edited video with. I like your transitions from aerial to water scenes; nice. One of the best videos I've seen. Your drone scenes are amazing and steady. The whole video is very professionally done. I was supposed to go to Thailand in July, but with the rising cases in Thailand and surrounding SEA countries, I decided it was just not a good time to travel. But you're making the best of it.
Thank you very much!
Phiphi island👍👍 . I was there about 8 years ago, I wish I could be there again soon.
Beautiful resort & beautiful Alina
Wow! how great to have the place all to yourself,, sheer bliss... i have been to Maya Bay,, and had a swim there,, about 8 years ago,, it was just heaven,, there is also a walkway to the other side,,, but i loved the swim so clear and energising,,, hope to go again one day,,, in my dreams,, hahaha
I just watched The Beach a few days ago. One of my favorite films.
Excellant video. So lucky to have the whole beach to yourself.
Fantastic video. Beautiful place. Thank you for sharing ❤️👍
When you said you have a dinner date and then I saw a cat on the table, I was laughting to myself. You just have such a good sense of humor. I like it. Well what can I say you come to Thailand at the wrong time. Anyway just keep your spirit high and enjoy your journey.
The footage of bamboo island view is so magical that it looks like a dream.
Hey I found your channel through Chris at Retired Working For You! Just subscribed. Safe travels!
Thank you very much!
Hi Alina from Wetaskiwin…79 years old and have sent a number of comments to you…What a wonderful life you are living…Love your personality and huge smile…Possibly a little advice for you…I have spent my life is the sun with hundreds of sunburns and many visits to the Dermatologist…A number of skin cancers…Notice some sunburns Alina including on today’s vlog….Just be careful…ALL THE BEST FROM CANADA…🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦…
Thank you! I wear sunscreen every day but the sun is just that strong here and unfortunately swimming usually is the reason it becomes an issue because it washes off as I’m swimming.
Great upload, my friend! Thanks for sharing! Have a happy day!
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing and travelling in our country during this time.
Watching this makes me wanna go Phi Phi islands again. 😀😄
I visited Krabi 2 weeks ago, very quiet but nature was as its peak. During island hoping, you could see black tip sharks early morning and many big fishes were chasing small fishes. Once in your life time experience.
Alina: Living her best life in tropical beaches in Thailand
The rest of us: Not even able to travel to our neighbour city lol
I mean technically Thailand has some restrictions against interprovincial travel (why I’ve been in Phuket so long) but yes, I’m definitely living my best life 😅❤️
@@AlinaMcleod I hope you enjoy and happy in my country.
@@AlinaMcleod Did you have to do Covid testing between BKK and Phuket flights??
@@AlinaMcleod how did you get back into Phuket without having to quarantine?
I've been to Phi Phi about 3 times. Except for white, sandy Long Beach, most other parts were rocky beaches. We have better beaches (not rocky) but the same rocky islets in our nearby larger Langkawi Island (Malaysia) chain. Yes, prices in Phi Phi are twice higher than Phuket and Ko Pha Ngan (very much cheaper in Langkawi). The green waters in the midsts of the rocky islets is a great place to kayak, swim and snorkel where Alina did. Bamboo Island is a small, amazing and far flung island with paradise beaches just like in Ko Tao.
Wow ... What a beautiful ocean view against the backdrop of incredible mountains, Alina👍👍👍
I saw the movie , The Beach, in tv in a Bar at Ko Phi Phi , and visited Maya beach in october 2000. Only a few people were there. Some bambo sticks were laying there, in the backyard, still remaining there from the movie set
The quality of this video is amazing, thank you very much for giving people virtual tours during this pandemic......
You are most welcome
What a amazing experience while only you one tourist on the beach! Thank you for your sharing.
Drone shoot very nice, catch beauty ,
I've been planing my travel to Lipe. But your vlog reminds me of Phi Phi. 've been to Phi Phi once and it is one of the best places to go to. It seems like I'll choose to revisit Phi Phi as well. Thx for great video
Never boring in Thailand. You got b@lls of steel lady, traveling under such circumstances in a land struck by another wave. Awesome footage, really enjoyed it.
Beautiful videography! You maybe alone on the islands but I think these days its an experience to treasure. Not too many people will ever get to experience that.
This place is so beautiful, can’t wait to be there.
WOW I don't really have any words that can describe the local. Were the drone shots of the empty beach yours? Having most beaches, a restaurant, an island, and a long boat basically to yourself for a private tour can probably never be duplicated. So if you have to engage semi illegal entry tourism you turned into a once in a lifetime experience. Making it work.
Just stumbled across your channel, great to see someone on youtube still travelling. Loving your content
Thank you!
Chris from working for you sent me over and boy! Great channel! I am subscribed! Cheers from Alaska!!
Thank you so much!
Hello from PARIS ; THAILAND is a Paradise the view , beach , water so clean ,
Great aerial shots, superb photography, such a beautiful country, thanks for sharing, have the best of times. 😊😎🇨🇦👍
Thank you very much!
That is literally "living the good life".
You've picked the right time to visit Thailand. Keep pumping those videos out 😀
From any direction you view your journey it may never happen like this again ... great to see you appreciate your time in the Far East ! You always make the best of the situation and we all enjoy your adventures - thank you Alina and ‘chill’ while you can ... wink !
Thank you!
Great amazing video, so beautiful there, lovely islands // Sweden
The underwater& drone shot was so amazing!!
Looks absolutely beautiful, but a little strange at the same time without people around. Watching from a chilly Vancouver. 😊
Hello from India (the other side of Andaman Sea & the situation is totally different here,😉).... watching your video with family is so refreshingly beautiful as we all are under strict 30days lockdown! Videos are awesome and so is the resort property.
Hope you throughly enjoyed your days being Queen of the Phi Phi🙂. Before your trip, warned you about the weather, seeing those sunburns. Keep yourself safe and enjoy!
Thank you! I really hope things get better in India soon ❤️ blessings to you and your family!
這讓我想起了電影《海灘》。 即使在今天,這部電影也不斷對年輕人產生巨大的情感影響。
3:51 哇! 壯觀!!
8:01 哇....藍色天堂。
Excellent Drone shots, good job Alina, Enjoy your stay 👍
The Phi Phi islands is like a paradise. Envy that you like have this beautiful place to yourself :)))
I love your content, its well crafted 👏🏼
Awesome video Alina, I love your positive attitude
هذا يذكرني بفيلم THE BEACH. هذا الفيلم له تأثير عاطفي كبير على الشباب حتى اليوم.
3:51 رائع! مذهل!!
8:01 Awwww .... الجنة باللون الأزرق.
Beautiful place and pristine water,amazing
Oh yes I agree. The seemless quality and perfectionism of editing of the videos Alina does is Hollywood or Disney class, even better than DC Movies
I was going to suggest you snorkel next to the dive shop on Long Beach but obviously you found it. PP is something else, much better with people running about. Theres a great overlook up the mountain with spectacular views. The drone shot looks like you made it to the viewpoint. Great stuff. 😃
Just want to say I loved the edit at 9:18
Keep up the awesome videos, with love from Saskatchewan!
Long Beach is absolutely the place to stay when on phi phi.
You didnt miss out much by not going into the main town. That place is plastered with pavements and monotone shops, eating places, and the beaches there are lit up like an airport apron. I were there in 1995, and back then it was a small idyllic town... Not anymore.
Only thing you really missed out on, were the view from "Viewpoint" where you see the beautifull bay.
