  • Mediterranean Diet 30-Day Challenge (Mediterranean Diet Meal Plan) Day 11: Eggs in Purgatory! Eggs in Purgatory, or Uova al Purgatorio as it’s called in Italy, is a breakfast made of eggs gently poached in a spicy tomato sauce. Eggs in Purgatory is often compared to Shakshuka, a similar brothy soft poached egg and aromatic tomato sauce dish. While similar to Middle Eastern Shakshuka, the way the sauce is seasoned is quite different. Instead of feta and mint, Italian flavors like fresh basil and Parmigiano-Reggiano take center stage. #mediterraneandiet #eggs #shakshuka #eggrecipe

    Italian shakshouka!

      It's Menemen , or Shakshouka. It's like taking Pizza into my country and giving it a different name calling it Australian.

      @nicodemuscorleonis2178 Місяць тому +4

      It's literally a different recipe, the only similarities is the tomato sauce and egg.
      It's more like you're calling spaghetti marinara and masala pasta the same dish cause they both have pasta and marinara in them. They have different spices and different cultural backgrounds using common ingredients and similar cooking methods but both with sperate traceable histories.

    • @narniadan
      @narniadan Місяць тому +4

      @@nicodemuscorleonis2178 It is exactly the same. Obviously, you don't know what's Menemen or Shakshouka. So you have only 1 past recipe and that's Spagetti marina. Spaghetti Bolognese is Australian, because we don't shave parmesan cheese always and pronounced different. And Pizza is Australian, too. We use bacon as topping.

      @@cassnava3797 Menemen or Shakshuka doesn't need to be exactly all the same;; some use onion some don't , some don't like sweet peppers or capsicums, some don't like using black pepper, some like adding a bit of garlic, some like using parsley, some basil...the base is tomatoes and eggs on a frying pan with olive oil. The rest is up to the person; even spinach or baked beans can be used.

      Turkish? Oh my goodness you must be joking. I went to Turkey Izmir with family and the food was so unhealthy and disgusting to see let alone to eat. Every restaurant you go the same unhealthy and poorly cooked food.
      However, the people in Turkey are friendly,approachable and helpful. They have beautiful beaches but they are not clean, you see bottles, leftover cigarettes....

    • @narniadan
      @narniadan 3 дні тому

      @@eduhaile5853 if you went for unhealthy meals, that's your problem. You could had shish kebab in kebab shops, zeytinyagli such as artichoke hearts with olive oil, peas, dill which is served in workers eateries all around Turkiye. There is 350 types of meat balls , and nearly 1000 zeytinyagli recipes which is the most healthy recipe as zentinyagli means vegetables cooked in olive oil with lemon juice without any meat. In Esnaf Lokanta (workers eatery), there is at least 50 different zeytinyagli a day and vegetables changes depend on season.
