Just got 23 GC Overland 4XE. After driving one, when I went just for an oil change, I was hooked!!! I was so impressed with the ride, comfort air ride and options, it was sold. This thing rides like a Range Rover. Its a RR for the poor. The sound system with the 23 speakers is insane !!!!!!!!!!. This is my 4th GC. The new gen is by far the best , so far.
So I recently test drove this vehicle. I was extremely impressed with the interior and the handling. The seats felt comfortable to me. The suspension and handling was great. It felt good to be driving an SUV that still looks and feels like a traditional SUV
I really appreciate the @Motormouth reviews, Zack and Andrea are great together and they offer a refreshing change from many UA-camrs in their casual conversation approach and focus on the type of regular daily driving we all do 99% of the time as opposed to extreme off-roading or zero to sixty times at the racetrack. I test drove the new Grand Cherokee and loved it! I put my order in (to get the trim and color I want in 4x4) and fingers crossed I'll have it before the end of the year. Keep up the great work Motormouth!
Great review guys. Jeep has a product here that makes even the LR Discovery and RR Sport models look way overpriced for the capabilities they deliver. Well done Jeep!
I agree with Andrea, the 4xe is a review I really want to see. The price of this vehicle along the insane gas prices make it unaffordable and unrealistic for most people.
I know gas prices are insane now but even at these prices is it worth it to pay $60,000 plus for a vehicle when, in reality, gas prices will eventually come down? The situation is manufactured and temporary, so just wait it out. I can't believe someone would buy a $60K plus vehicle pretending that they are going to save at the gas pumps. If you can't afford the gas, you can't afford the vehicle.
I just traded in my 2017 GC Trailhawk on a GV70. I considered the new model Grand Cherokee however to get the same features/spec as my 2017 the price would have been pushed to almost $68,000. Now I have owned a jeep of some sort for more than 30 years but frankly they have priced me out. For $65k I got a more engaging driving experience, more efficiency and one of the best interiors on the market right now.
Good choice and probably more reliable in the long run. Personally I'd be going for the AWD Hyundai Ioniq 5 for that money. I'm sick of the price of gas.
Thanks for this. I’ve been looking for the 2 row reviews. I’m the backwards buyer where I bought one and then researched it 🙃. I love mine. Got the same red velvet pearl Overland with the 5.7 and she’s absolutely stunning!! So far we have had some issues with a radio module no start and a piece of plastic in the roof above the cargo space. All weather mats aren’t in or the block heater but the good always outweigh the bad in my opinion. Great review!!
I don't get these comparisons to BMW. A couple of my friends had the X5. It was hard, cramped, with hard plastics all around. I did not see any luxury in it. Is it just the badge? I won't even get into insane maintenance cost.
I haven’t seen this around in my neighbourhood and I call it truck not SUV. But love the dashboard and touchscreen location is awesome (It’s reminded me of Hyundai Tucson’s touchscreen. Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
Great video and sweet ride. But I would wait for the new twin inline 6 that coming by the end of the year. Which is going to be more powerful then this V8 and with better gas mileage.
Having worked for Jeep (AMC/Renault/Eagle - North Van.) when they first launched the ‘Grand’ Cherokee. I doubt this will stir up the excitement of that first gen. I did, worthy of not, did see a half-a-dozen or so of them on the streets this week in Montréal. Absolutely great looking… despite it’s cost. Thanks for another excellent review!
Prices are MUCH higher than just four years ago. My '18 Trailhawk started at $43,295. This new one is $54,630, over $11,000 more. New platform, more refined, but practically, there's not a lot of difference in features. And the drivetrain is carry-over! Add the V8 and lux group and you're pushing $60K for TH. Plus, in '18 they didn't charge for paint ($400 now), and destination charge, obviously a profit center is, $1800 now, ($1100 in '18). Unreasonable gouging for what cannot be described as Toyota levels of quality. No thanks.
Great review guys. We got one last year and love it. Totally agree, the piano black has got to go with some other options, but other than that there is not much to complain about.
I want cloth seats, 17 wheels and coil springs. I've heard of people where their air shocks have failed, have you ever heard of coil springs failing, nope didn't think so. Heated cloth seats are pure heaven in a cold climate, you sit on leather seats lower than 40 degrees and your sphincter crawls right up into your brain stem. I do like the wood trim on the dash though, its pretty. You were talking reliability, well the 2.0L turbo electric hybrid is gigantic question mark, the 3.6 liter is reliable.
I have been seeing the "L" models around and I can't get used to the proportions with the long wheelbase. Normal one looks pretty good though, especially inside.
If your parenting skills are as good as your videos, your children are way ahead of the game. On another note, we watch our fair share of car reviews and yours is now on the subscription list. Thank you..
EXCUSE ME! We off road our x5 45e regularly! There’s an off-road package you can purchase and it gives the vehicle 10.5 inches of ground clearance with the air suspension and the torque from 0 because of the electric motor means you rarely find yourself in situations where you can’t control the wheel speed and slip. It also has that differential in the back. We went to mammoth and did the Land Rover trails and when we were done all the Land Rover people were literally scratching their heads. AND we live on a farm in Northern California and this thing has hills and rocky driveways with steeeep grades and turns and the X5 handles it rain snow or shine no issues. I think folx need to be careful making statements when you you’ve never driven the vehicle that way. Also the X5 can water Forge up to nearly 3ft I do it regularly in a creek we cross for a trail head. Just need to set the record straight on that.
Also 6500 towing and great gas mileage and sport mode and differential means 0to 60 4.7 seconds... Idunno folx and bmw is higher on the reliability which is sad jeep....
I got a 2021 Laredo 4x4 new for 44k CAD with my preferred pricing. Sticker was 56K and has quad trac 2 and trailer package. base model is great and the 22 has many issues with the first model year release. 3.6L great engine on gas and maintenance.
I love your show's format. You literally make me wanna buy every car you review. Maybe not this one though. I'm never buying American again. I'm happy I put it in S for subscribe.😜
Another great video you two. I’ve owned a ‘96, ‘02, and ‘15 JGC. Like the Wrangler…the heritage is kept but improvement happens with each generation. Be interesting to see how this generations Alfa Stelvio derived platform compares with the prior Mercedes derived platform in terms of long term reliability…the Mercedes platform was a strength. Was in Vancouver recently shooting a commercial…you guys live in a wonderful and beautiful place…even with the rain:)
Great review! You had the Overland trim on the GCL with quite a few packages added to it. How would you compare the seats between the two? Are the Overland trim's seats just as uncomfortable? Comfort, or lack of comfort, is a deal maker or breaker. At that price point, are the Summit Reserve's seats a deal-breaker in your opinion?
Great review. So my comparison and your opinion. Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit (3row seating) or Acura MDX Type S? Offroad capability not important. Both would be about he same price (Jeep I think lower cost with the 3.6L) and both with three rows. I almost bought the Summit L but got the Acura MDX Type s instead due to something different. 🤔🤔🤔
Cross shopping with Porsche Cayenne-both speak to comport, luxury, reliability and on and off road capabilities. Trying to research how off-road capable the Cayenne is - older models seem to be held in equal/ high regard for their off-road capability with air suspension even without a low range.
I like the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL redesign compared to the fourth Gen WK previous generation. However you left out the most important difference that Stellantis Jeep has changed on these Grand Cherokee Limited models. I own a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it has a REAL 4WD system that has a Front transverse transmission differential with REAL Low Range. It seems that Jeep has discontinued that for 2022 on the Fifth Gen WL models. In order to get a REAL 4WD system that has a Front transverse transmission differential with REAL Low Range., buyers must order the Overland, Summit or Altitude Models and the transmission is called the Quadra Trac II, On the 2022 Jeeo Grand Cherokee Limited the only transmission available is the Quadra TracI I and it does not have a front transverse case with differential and Low Range. Of course a Buyer can order the 2022 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and get the best 4WD Transmission for off road use which is the Quadra Drive II, available on the Trailhawk Model and higher trims.
Hello. Very good review as usual. In France Jeep has decided to sell only electrified models due to the CO2 related huge taxes. Salut from windy Paris.
The regular wheelbase JGC's proportion looks so much more pleasing than LWB. LWB's proportion looks so oddball in person, Wagonner looks even more terrible with its hideous rear quarter.
Nice jeep but I think monthly payments would be about 1100 a month or higher. I’m paying 752 a month for my jeep grand Cherokee 4x4 Limited. The summit is gorgeous though.
I am looking to buy one of these. I’m driving a 2010 grand cherokee laredo. The trim models of these trucks or any vehicle now days is ridiculous. Not a fan of electric cars. Esp due to where i live we dont have charging stations. Learning the differences of all these things really have a difference in price. But still, reliability review is helpful. Btw the jeep they driving is 80k lol no thanks
You mentioned around the 13 minute mark that Stellantis doesn't have a luxury brand. Not true, they own Alpha Romeo and Maserati. Stellantis isn't a new name for FCA they are a separate company that owns several brands.
I'm surprised so many people call the Pentastar 3.6 V-6 as "bulletproof" with at least two major known issues. The well known rocker arm and plastic oil cooler/filter housing failures that can occur even with good maintenance make it hardly bulletproof. I plan to get the 4xe as it's basically the same cost as the one with the 5.7L V-8 and gets tax rebates making it cheaper.
recently made a UA-cam comment that Jeep's were not overly reliable in Australia (forgot to mention spare part prices)...someone commented that Jeep's were now reliable, so went to Jeep's Moorooka in Brisbane today to check out there 'limited' model and discovered that the piano black lid covering plug in points was open...I closed the lid in curiosity because it was open and had trouble opening this lid...yes it was faulty. End of story.
You mean rental car white. This is a color people will go out of their way to get. Also yeah this Cherokee will probably give a better off-road prowess.
It doesn't look great, the first thing that strikes you is that it looks big. The second thing you notice is how big it is, bigger than you first thought. This is no SUV, it's a minibus. a bit like a smaller Laidlaw school bus with a lot of fancy country touches. And the third thing on my mind was to think if I ever wanted a JGC I'd need to hurry up while there are still some 2021s left.
I see it advertised on TV for $89,000. I paid $129,000 for a Mercedes g wagon and I will never ever buy a Jeep product. Because the CEO of Chrysler Jeep says they're just going to charge more for it now. And people are paying it. Wow
Was the so called wood trim already lifting up on the right hand side of the dash? And that piano black. Good grief why are all manufacturers heading down this road.
I've owned 4 GC's over the years and love them; but I always found the seats uncomfortable. Sadly the worst was the top trim '20 Summit and I had to get rid of it because I could just not get comfortable in it. I was really hoping they had fixed that with the new interior, why is it so hard for them to get this little thing right? My wife's QX55 seats are 10x better.
That's the real reason I bought the Trailhawk ('18). It came standard with the SRT seats. Far superior to the seats in the other trim levels, and all-day comfortable and supportive. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be a distinction in the new gen Trailhawk.
I have the 2019 Summit, and it’s the only car I have owned where when I drove 5 hrs to Vt, I got out and had no stiffness at all. It is the most comfortable car I have ever owned.
I don’t really like the new generation’s design. It looks just like the L and grand wagononer. It took away the uniqueness of the old grand Cherokee’s midsize design
I had a 2018 overland that was totaled by a woman running a stop sighn. I didn’t really like my grand Cherokee it didn’t feel stable to me. It actually got on 2 wheels during the accident and came back down. I was terrified.
This seems out of step with ya know... the climate. I loveeee a v8 but it’s time to let go folx... like it’s beeeeen time. Hope y’all get the 4xe cus if that had been out when I bought my x5 45e , I definitely would have cross shopped it.
You talking about Stellantis not having a premium model competing with merc and bmw!!! Excuse me..who is Alfa Romeo!! Who is DS motors!!.. I think you need to do your homework...
Had new Palisade for over 2 years now. It does everything well, but has issues. It rattles, infotainment screen goes blank, USB plugs fail randomly, shifter won't go into gear randomly. And while it looks great in the showroom, after a while when you spend some time inside you can tell it's build to a price. Lots of cheap pieces although they hide it well with flashy bits to distract you.
Todays auto climate render's this choice a waste of time and money. Yes very cool to look at but only for those with deep pockets- really deep pocket's.
Just got 23 GC Overland 4XE. After driving one, when I went just for an oil change, I was hooked!!! I was so impressed with the ride, comfort air ride and options, it was sold. I haven’t seen this around in my neighbourhood and I call it truck not SUV. But love the dashboard and touchscreen location is awesome (It’s reminded me of Hyundai Tucson’s touchscreen. Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
It’s not a truck. It’s not on a truck frame or have a truck bed. That's a common incorrect term lately by a certain demographic.
How is it a truck? It doesn't have a bed/box and it's unibody construction. Nothing about it says truck.
That's a quick pulling car Andrea. Looks plush in that burgundy colour. Air suspension is as good as it gets.
To me Jeep has always evolved the Grand Cherokee it’s an American icon like the Wrangler, Mustang , or Suburban.

This will be the most awarded SUV in history. The WK racked up a lot of accolades the last 12 years, I expect this new gen WL to do the same.

Do you have any update or review on Grand Cherokee 4xe? How performant and luxurious it is compared to Grand Cherokee (gas only)?

Stellantis absolutely has a luxury brand. It's called Alfa Romeo. Guess what's underpinning the new Cherokee? Yep, a Stelvio.
Why can't they just add a coating or wrap so the piano black doesn't get scratches or fingerprints like a refrigerator?
I'm sure there is an after market wrap, or soon will be.
Does the plug in hybrid option available in US too?
what camera do you use to shoot video?
No tax credit? Come on. How about just less taxes for everything let us keep more of our money and just less government
Stellantis does have a luxury performance brand in Canada: Alfa Romeo.
Alfa Romero designed the suspension in the new 22 Grand Cherokee.
The previous generation looked better. The front grill is a sort of a fail in my mind. Too many screens inside to break down.
The reliablity for the "jeep" brand counts the BS Jeeps which are notoriously unrelible, the Grand Cherokee is excellent reliablity
You mean rental car white. This is a color people will go out of their way to get. Also yeah this Cherokee will probably give a better off-road prowess.

The v8 is apparently coming with cylinder deactivation which you didn't mention. Is that any gas saver?
The 5.7 has had this for a very very long time. It may save gas but that still depends on how heavy your foot is.
It bumps down to 4 cylinders on the highway when you’re cruising. Gas saver…not really. No major difference.
Confirmed
I see it advertised on TV for $89,000. I paid $129,000 for a Mercedes g wagon and I will never ever buy a Jeep product. Because the CEO of Chrysler Jeep says they're just going to charge more for it now. And people are paying it. Wow

I totally agree about the seats. Feels like you’re sitting on bricks. Jeep needs to make a comfortable seat. It ended up being a dealbreaker.
“Loaded with everything in it!” Pretty sure it’s a nice review, but I’m not spending that kind of money on a “Jeep”.
I think what the Jeep brand has that appeals to buyers who could afford luxury German brands is ruggedness.
Competes against the Germans with that old 3.6! No way
At one time Chrysler would of been the luxury division, but Fiat F**KED that up !!
WK2 came out in 2011...
J.D. Power has never reflected real world stats. It's always felt like a pay-to-play scheme.
Compete with kia sorento hyundai santa fe bmw x5
I don’t really like the new generation’s design. It looks just like the L and grand wagononer. It took away the uniqueness of the old grand Cherokee’s midsize design
I had a 2018 overland that was totaled by a woman running a stop sighn. I didn’t really like my grand Cherokee it didn’t feel stable to me. It actually got on 2 wheels during the accident and came back down. I was terrified.
Fit and finish??? Everybody mist the uneven gaps on the wood trim???????????? LOL!!!! If you stop at 5:09. LOL
For this kind of money you can get the new 2023 TOYOTA SEQUOIA 3.5L Hybrid with 400hp. Jeep has no chance its a lemon.
lol he clearly doesn't trust her driving 😅😅
LOL, he always has fear in his eyes when she pulls away at the beginning. It's hilarious.
The A/C in the back is nonexistent, giving mine back bc my infant is overheating. SMH...
This seems out of step with ya know... the climate. I loveeee a v8 but it’s time to let go folx... like it’s beeeeen time. Hope y’all get the 4xe cus if that had been out when I bought my x5 45e , I definitely would have cross shopped it.
Jeep grand cheroke is better looking than porche cayne. Jeep is better in all way.
Maybe the seats will soften up after you sit in them a while ? A year or two. Lol
Knowing that I could buy a Telluride over for the same price makes it a tough sell
GM did something to you.
I put a Hemi in my garage honey💪
You talking about Stellantis not having a premium model competing with merc and bmw!!! Excuse me..who is Alfa Romeo!! Who is DS motors!!.. I think you need to do your homework...
I would just get one of the Koreans... Better reliability and amazing features...
