    The best thing about those WCS dogs is - being able to push them into a timber to hold the saw when not in use- in stead of setting it on the ground.
    They work very well too!!

    Good video! And I’ve watched a bunch of these reviews on the 500i.
    I didn’t realize they made a TS500i for that much longer. I’m not worried about the reliability of it so much and I think it’s only a matter of time before I end up buying one. I’d probably run it stock for a while but am really intrigued by the bark box idea. Would love to see some scientific info on how well it helps reduce heat. 👍🏼

    I went with the bark box and the west coast 3 point dogs…..love both products. It’s a great saw period, with or without the mods. Did the same with my MS 362 also, worth it there also IMHO. I also went with the 28” light bar after running the 25” light bar on the MS 500i first. Glad I switched and then put the 25” light bar on the MS 362. Glad I did that also. You will enjoy the new saw, especially after you have run 6-8 tanks through it, it will come alive then. Enjoy 🪵⛓🪚👍👏 Rick

      thanks for watching rick. I have the light bar on the 500 now and i really like it. I agree the 362, while a great saw, really did benefit from the upgrades. Its yet to be seen on my 500. After a few more tanks ill make a decision...xmas is coming after all...

    Thanks for the review. Comparing with your 362 is kind of silly. The 362 has always had a lack of power and not a very impressive saw. That's why the 400 is so well received. The 362 will be a has been for sure. Also comparing a 59cc saw with a 79cc saw is just silly. I understand your wow factor and your point of reference.

    Wrong...261 cm is a pro saw...the smallest pro considering saw in Europe , regarding Stihl is ms 211.
    You see we don't have the need for 24" bars and shit🤣 You can cut pretty much everything in Europe with 20" bar .
    Btw good video👍

    By any chance did you consider the 661? If so, why did you choose the 500i? What size bar are you using? Thank you.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  Рік тому

      The 661 is a good saw, but not for my application. If i was looking to run anything over a 32in bar or chainsaw milling, id seriously consider a 661. Theres just no need for ME. and on the 500 i run a 25 or 20in bar. 20 the majority of the time, it rips.

    I definitely like the idea of instant throttle, but question to me is if it would withstand hard impacts.... such as bounce off a utv or atv. Because this does happen.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  Рік тому +1

      While I've done it only once, with a DeWalt electric chainsaw, I can't see why this would or wouldn't survive a bump any more or less than any other professional saw would. Professional saws are made of metal vs the plastic of the homeowner ones.

    • @JohnWCH
      @JohnWCH  Рік тому +1

      After a year of use, and even up to using it yesterday, you couldn't be more correct. It's a machine, it uses fuel. Bad talking point. But it WAS something that I saw brought up, so I wanted to touch on it.

    • @funkysawmanwright5077
      @funkysawmanwright5077 10 місяців тому +1

      Anyone who doesn't worry about fuel usage obviously doesn't cut timber for a living, especially out west where we have to hike in a mile or more with our sawing gear, more gas weighs a guy down, packing 50 lbs 10 hrs a day on steep slopes is no fun
