YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! The exact same thing just happened to me on my 2025R. They just came and picked it up 2 days ago. I'll be sending them a copy of this video to bolster my point that there is a manufacturing issue with this series tractor. I only had 90 hrs on mine.
While I have no further info yet, go ahead and show them this. I have a hard time thinking I'm the only one.

UPDATE! I was just told by the service manager that the transmission was going to be replaced for free under the warranty. However, locating the replacement unit was a problem,. ???? who knows how long that will take?
do you have wheel spacers on your 2025? My curiosity was 1) if you had them 2) is that an issue with warranty/liability.
@@yumyum7440 I have them for stability. I live in a hilly area. They also open up space for my snow chains and keep them from ripping out hydraulic lines near the axil. I’m not using the tractor to plow, mow or doing forestry with it. I had no problem with the warranty since the problem originated with defective manufacturing and not stressed axle related problems such as wheel bearings.
That should be covered under John Deere’s warranty I have a 1025r like you maintain the hell out of it. So sorry that happened. I’ve been following you since you bought it same year I have.

Simple green straight out of the jug should help with the oil spill. I have the cast iron version JD - a 3025D. Fingers crossed... My 1984 750 burned up in a fire. I loved that tractor and 40-ish years later it still ran fine. Good luck arguing with the warranty police! Really like the channel btw.

As a mechanic that has seen a lot of damage to equipment (rental equipment mechanic ) I went back to 4:45 where you showed the bolt and it has no indication of being worked under load as if all the ring gear bolts were lose, so it really looks like they missed getting that bolt torqued during assembly, time to time John Deere has had problems with this , back in late 1999 John Deere had a bunch of skid steers that the hydraulic steel lines were not torqued and would leak, and other issues arose, most of the time JD would send out a campaign notice and we would check all the machines under the campaign and turn it in under warrenty, I also check what you posted for the warrenty and you are well with in the warrenty period as it is written, I hope they ( JD ) take care of you.
Now that you say it, you're right about the bolt. And I hope they make it right too.
Thanks for the follow up from the short. My X748 just hit the 1000hr mark and I’m in the middle of a big project. Looks like I’m not putting off the maintenance required until later now. Thanks, and we’ll be waiting with baited breath on the warranty claim. Best of luck my friend!
If and when my 748 dies, it's getting the full viking funeral for an absolute warrior.
FYI to any owners reading this and thinking about the warranty the good thing about the powerguard warranty is it covers transportation to/from dealer.
In my case that would be an almost $300 savings in and of itself.
Dawn power wash on the driveway. I always use it in the garage to clean up grease, oil, gas, blood (deer) etc. Simple Green will probably work as well, but that tends to leave a slick behind in my experience.
I bought my 2025 around the same time you did. I just crossed the 400 hour mark this week. Fingers crossed, I haven’t had anything major yet. Worst thing to happen was my front driveshaft came off at the front axle when backing up. The retaining pin had worked itself out. So, now I check it every time I get on.
I don’t expect you’ll have any trouble getting it covered under warranty. I too would be worried about what May have contaminated the hydraulic system, but I would expect that if there were something big enough to cause an issue, that it would happen relatively soon and while still under drivetrain warranty.
Dawn, simple green and power washing have been working.
This happened on my 2025r a few months back and it was covered under the factory warranty. John Deere at least my dealer acknowledged this happens from time to time and is a known problem. A bolt can come loose inside the transmission case and rattles around until it gets wedged between the gears and the case. They had to replace the entire transmission under warranty and thank goodness they did or the bill would have been 10k.

Ive had my deere for 4 years now. Its built to import quality and sold at high costs. It's disappointing. I dont know that id ever get another one.

Now you’ve got me scared. I have a 2021 2025r and had issues with several axle seal(s) and other quality issues that I had to fight. As you noted, I love my tractor too,and I hope this is a one time thing for this model. Please post ANY results and info you get.
Buy the extended warranty. And I will when I know something, but alas, at this point I know nothing further.
I've got the same tractor. 5 year power train warranty. I had an rear axle seal leak, they fixed it and covered the pickup and return. I understand your frustration but JD will fix it...
My dealer is stupidly ardent that they won't cover the transpo. It's worth it in this case though.

LocTite on the bolt threads or better yet safety-wired bolts would have prevented your tractor's transaxle failure. I wonder: Is that a "TUFF-TORQ" transaxle? The reason that I ask is that I have one of those in my John Deere 2305 TLB (through interpolation, using my tractor's serial number, it was manufactured in the later part of January 2008). I have been trying to find out what 'Model" of "TUFF-TORQ" transaxle is in my 2305, which I bought new in February of 2009... I left an inquiry at John Deere's website, giving them my tractor's serial number, asking that specific question three weeks ago,... I also asked them where (In what country) my tractor's "TUFF-TORQ" transaxle was assembled, as I would also like to know that. To date, I have not received a reply from them...
I would ask on green Tractor Talk. They may have more info, as I've seen them talking about 2305's and their issues.
I have a Kioti tractor, but I am not someone who bashes other manufacturers. I think that’s dumb. I really hope this gets handled for you man, because I know how bummed I would be if this was me. Mechanical things happen, hopefully they use a little loctite this time. Best of luck friend
I don't bash any other manufacturers either. This isn't NASCAR. I'm really happy when people say they have X tractor and it works for them.
Based on what's listed in the 6 year powertrain warranty they will cover this failure. If that dealer puts up a fight, go to Deere direct.

Kinda had the same issue on my John Deere 3046 2022.. Long story short John Deere regional director looked at it and John Deere covered it. Reach out to me if you need anymore info..

I'm thinking that...and I have zero issues w Kubota, but the dealership is way further than the Deere one, around here.
I think it's bout time to take that trip or call them on the phone.

That is an upsetting experience!
Honestly if you clean up the driveway, add up the cost and hours of labor spent, write it as Woodridge Creek exterior services, or hire a cleaning service, and hand it to the underwriter because insurance should be responsible for property restoration.
Bummer of a situation, it'll work out it's a crystal clear case of workmanship.

This has nothing to do with maintenance. This a just a manufacturing issue. Should have safety wired in if possible or some sort of loc tite. Alot of older tractor manufacturers use to safety wire the ring gears in.
They really did do things better in the old days....
The answer is no lockite on the bolts poeple factory problem when made
