@@user-rm8by9fm Yep, it's one of my favorite as well. The first episode of Shiroi Suna no Aquatope aired last week, it's made by the same studio and director so you might want to give it a try!
@simpforhoneysenpai No it just means that it's a project that left its mark on them. In addition to my previous recommendation, Higashiji Kazuki (Nagi no Asukara art director) and Ishii Yuriko (Nagi no Asukara character designer) will be teaming up again for the upcoming movie Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou. The above-mentioned anime Shiroi Suna no Aquatope is reminiscent of Nagi no Asukara in its theme because it shares the same director, whereas Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou is more reminiscent of Nagi no Asukara in its visual beauty because it shares some of its artistic staff. It is also directed by Okada Mari who helped with Nagi no Asukara script, so you might want to check it out as well.

I kind of want to explain chisaki's character cause I feel like I understand her, plus she gets a lot of hate. Hikari reminded chisaki of her happiness/childhood. As someone who has gone through things that have caused them to be more mature (not saying chisaki went through anything), someone who allows you to act like a kid or be yourself can be so refreshing even intoxicating. It's very hard to let go because you love the feeling of being with that person. However, the reason I think matching her up with tsumugu was so great was because she had to let go. she had to change. She also felt that If she liked tsumugu she would be betraying manaka and their time lost. But tsumugu helped her because she remembered that change was ok. And he asked her questions that she was afraid to answer but made her think differently and challenge herself. This truly is a beautiful anime and sorry if this explanation was all over the place!

I just recently stumbled on this anime and started watching it this week. Now after watching this review makes me realize how this anime weirdly parallels with what's going on today. really good review!
I just happened across this anime and finished it today. I love the ocean, I love water, fish, it was just so beautiful, I thought the entire time I was watching an anime movie rather than a whole series. Wish we could've gotten a few more episodes, I always wish anime did a little bit after the events, just to see how characters develop, how relationships work. Like maybe an epilogue of 4 episodes showing another 5 years later, or the build up to another 5 years later, just to see the lives of the characters afterwards, especially in romances. I only say 4 because that would make 30, and I'm a little OCD, but 2 would be perfectly fine too.
I don't even know how much I cried watching it, I wasn't rooting for anything either I was constantly learning and trying to understand everyone and the stories too aww man I loved it

I watched this anime many years ago, during my first period of anime watching and I liked it. Not enough to really think or speak about it. But lately I’ve been thinking about this anime a lot. I’ve only watched it once but it has really lingered with me in these last few years. Each time it makes a pass in my mind, I get a feeling of nostalgia and warmth. It’s very strange, I don’t know why It’s this anime in particular. It’s safe to say it left a mark on me.
I'll never forget this anime, I just can't, the animation, the style, the scenery, the songs/ost. All was so good, but visually it really impacted me. It's just so precious (thanks for making this video)
So much nostalgia just from those first little string plucks!! I remember the first time I watched this in Summer 2021, and not even the next day after watching it, I rewatched it. I've watched it two more times since, and it is beautiful, emotional, and so heart grasping! It will never stop giving me a warm happy sad feeling when I watch it!
on my first watch, i was really hoping that manaka and tsumugu would happen, but after rewatching it, i realized that tsumugu never loved manaka--he was just fascinated with her like he is with all sea people. although i was disappointed chisaki and tsumugu ended up together, i think the way their relationship unfolded was beautiful, and it perfectly tied in with the plot.
Nagi No Asukara is the masterpiece anime and idk why there is no people talk about it...the Animation, the Ost, the Art.... ngl this anime is still in my top 3 I'm so glad that you share it... I AM FREAKING CRIED NOW
I've known about this anime's existence since the mid-2010s, but I didn't watch it til 2019 just a few months after I got into what's since become my favorite anime, Sword Art Online. I'd go into detail as to why but that'll take too long of an explanation. Anyway, after watching Nagi No Asukara/A Lull in the Sea for the first time in September 2019 after watching Season 3 of SAO, I was shocked at how good it was. The plot is very interesting as it's nothing like anything I've seen in a tv show before. That was until a certain Disney show I watched a few months ago called Owl House. Getting back on track, Nagi No Asukara has great character growth, a good score, and music I enjoy listening to, and how much they play with tone. I've rewatched this show about 4 or 5 times since 2019 and am currently doing another rewatch right now. It's a bit sad that this anime got only 1 season which I was fine with but surprised it's hardly talked about. Though I have seen other shows that are like that, including another anime I watched for the first time last year. I forgot what it's called but it involves angels living lives as teens on earth. I've told many people I know about Nagi No Asukara and not a single one of them has heard of it. Still, I do think it is a great show. My favorite character was and still is Chisaki. Not only was her journey interesting, but I happen to share a lot in common with her. The biggest one is we don't like change. I've learned to deal with some changes, but when it comes to big changes or changes in the people I know and love, it can take its toll on me, as seen with Chisaki. As much as I wish for things to stay the way I prefer things, change is something that'll be part of my life and everyone around me just like in this show. While change can be hard, this show was a good way of showing people that not all changes are bad. And while I have no clue if I'll ever get adjusted to it, as long as tv shows like this one continue to show people the positive sides of change, then I think everything will be ok.
This anime is truly a masterpiece, and I LOVED IT! I start watching it because it's from P. A. Works. Yeah, I only expected the animation. But after finished watching, this is my ALL time favorite! Mari Okada nailed it for the story. The OST are giving me FEELS (especially "Fonte", "Haha no Te", "Soshite Ai de" and "Surinukeru Kokoro". The theme songs from Ray and Yanagi Nagi are still one of my favorite anime songs until now. And the theme of 2nd half of the show really given me some interesting point of view. - A message for those of you who are hesitating or deciding whether to watch or not (especially if you're a fan of Drama genre) whether this is an anime you like or not. But after watching it, you will surely be glad you did.
Thanks for making this video, this anime is one of my favorites. Stories about underwater dwelling cultures really fascinate me so this easily made my top 10.
I'm also rewatching this anime and everything about it is still so beautiful and I kind of like how much of a hidden gem it is. I wish more people would give it a chance though - animation, art, storyline and music is stunning.
Moral of the story - love is only as difficult as you make it to be. Hurts bad for introverts and victims of trauma. But frankly, love is not difficult, but rather, the complexity of humanity.
You hit the nail on the head. I just watched this last night, just based on reading one simple, small comment on Reddit. Glad I did. Totally got sucked into their world
Just finished the anime. It was so good. The characters are so well written, and the story super good especially talking about change. The character dynamics after the plot twist was so interesting and fun to watch. End the end everyone was able to move on change together and have a happy ending.
Well.... I really liked the anime but sometimes the drama in it was very....uhh.... kinda forced and the main character was getting on my nerves sometimes but anyway the anime was a good one Its one of the animes i watched in my teens Uhh.... memories 😌 Time to rewatch some favorites
Kaname loves Chisaki. Chisaki loves Hikari and Tsumugu at the same time. Hikari loves Manaka. Manaka loves Hikari and Tsumugu at the same time. Miuna loves Hikari. Sayu loves Kaname. Akira has a childhood crush on Manaka.
Nagi no Asukara!! I really wasn't expecting this video to be about it! I remember watching it two years ago, dang... It was truly beautiful. I cried a lot with it tho :")
Just finished this earlier during online class. Good thing I wasn't called for recitation coz I cried a bunch while watching this, especially the last 3 episodes. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you guys to watch this! It's a masterpiece + it has beautiful openings
ngl i first watched this anime about ten years ago now and I've watched it at least three other times since then. This anime along with Erased, Yu Yu Hakusho, Elfin Lied, Ouran High School Host Club, and Fruits basket 2019 are just about the only animes I dont mind rewatching over and over again because they all have such a great story to them and beautiful animation. For a coming of age story, I watch Nagi Asu because it is literally about a group of kids growing up and figuring out their feelings while dealing with the changes that happens in their lives. I watch Erased for the Supernatural time traveling crime mystery themes (and god it's really good!), I watch Elfin Lied for the psychological horror aspect, I watch Yu Yu Hakusho for the story and struggles between good and evil (Sorry to say but YYH is better than DBZ in most aspects although I still have a big love for DBZ), and I watch Ouran High School Host Club for the quirky characters and the drama, and Fruits Basket for how it touches upon the darker aspects of human life (child abuse, mental illness, identity, etc). Nagi Asu just happens to hit me differently than most animes tho and I really love it. I wish we got an anime reboot or a sequel series for it.
Hey man great video in my opinion. Just finished watching this anime for the first time last night and the feelings and emotions it inspires in my opinion are amazing. This one is in my top now for sure!

Im sorry but the drama in this anime washes anime like march comes in like a lion and steins gate. In 26 episodes a lull in the sea leaves you completely emotionally drained and empty, a feeling a lot of shows havent been able to do for me besides attack on titan (i grew up with the show and have been watching the character's since the beginning for 10 years). A lull in the sea is an underrated gem, definitely not a masterpiece but something that can emotionally affect you in ways almost NO anime can.
It was the anime that got me INTO anime. Really enjoy it, I remember watching it by parts on UA-cam a long time ago. Glad I can finally watch it fullscreen and HD 😊

The romance was practically a love pentagon before they confessed tsu loves chi chi loves hiki and hiki loves mana and mana loves tsu(personal choices before ts/confessions) and mui>mana
Why is this anime so criminally underrated??? It is one of my favorites, and I only found it by chance! Why is/was nobody talking about it? A lot of much worse, generic anime series gets a lot more attention, and it doesn't fit into my head why!
God I hate myself for not being able to live at the coastline. I would’ve spent hours a day looking at the quiet yet eventful ocean. The only few times I was able to get to the coast, I spent hours just walking around the beach, no talking, no one, just the tides and the soft ambient.
This anime is one of my favorites. I remember checking out mangakalot while at summer camp and found the manga, then I found out it was an anime. Took a while before I finally watched the last episode but Nagi no Asukara is up there in my top favorite anime (you can guess what's my all-time fav is).
My brother picked this one out for us to watch and at first I was like "nah man this one seems kind of dumb" then we kept watching and I fell in love with the characters and the main plot. I'm glad I decided to keep watching this one
Just finished this yesterday and tbh it's a strong 6 to a light 7 out of 10. It's good but there isn't really catharsis at the end and I feel like it's not really them loving each other but them scared to express their feelings (which is kind of annoying when you realise that they've spent so many episodes literally and figuratively running from each other). The whole Semugo and Chiosaki stuff at the end is stupid considering its literally been 5 years and they've lived close to each other and depended on each other when the rest of their friends left them - I don't get why them falling in love becomes such a big issue because it should have just been done off screen and then had the return of Hikari and Cohnamae bring implications. Monika couldn't catch a fucking break in this show though. Kohnamae is easily one of the best characters but doesn't get enough development. Also when he interacts with Chiosaki he kind of seems a bit toxic "maybe this would be a good time to ask you out again (he says in front of Sayu, Semugo to Chiosaki) ha, just kidding" - would have been cool if they presented his character on purpose like that but they don't use him throughout. Then they just put him with Sayu because they're both the underutilized characters.
This anime doesn't even have a love triangle anymore, it's a love spaghetti

on my first watch, i was really hoping that manaka and tsumugu would happen, but after rewatching it, i realized that tsumugu never loved manaka--he was just fascinated with her like he is with all sea people. although i was disappointed chisaki and tsumugu ended up together, i think the way their relationship unfolded was beautiful, and it perfectly tied in with the plot.
Nagi No Asukara is the masterpiece anime and idk why there is no people talk about it...the Animation, the Ost, the Art.... ngl this anime is still in my top 3
I'm so glad that you share it...
I AM FREAKING CRIED NOW
Because none of the characters stuck out...or popped out
I've known about this anime's existence since the mid-2010s, but I didn't watch it til 2019 just a few months after I got into what's since become my favorite anime, Sword Art Online.
Just wanna say, your intros to the main topic are always so intriguing. You’ve got a way with words buddy
Ty Sloan!
I cosplayed Manaka Muikaido back in 2018 at Anime Expo!! Is one of my favorite anime, so thank you for covering it 🌊 ❤️
U did really good at explaining and the anime was amazing hopefully they make more
I saw it on netflix and thought "well I guess this looks fine" then I watched it. 10/10 absolutely amazing show
This anime is truly a masterpiece, and I LOVED IT!
I looked at the thumbnail and thought a lull in the sea
This was such a good review and dive into the anime, a lull in the sea is so unbelievably good and underappreciated 💖
Plz this anjme made me cry everytime i rewatched it, throughout the first time watching, I probably cried like 10 times
OH MY GOD THAT ANIME IS SO GREAT. I’ve watched it like four times now.
End the end everyone was able to move on change together and have a happy ending.
you know it's bad when the music at the begining of the video makes me want to cry
Well.... I really liked the anime but sometimes the drama in it was very....uhh.... kinda forced and the main character was getting on my nerves sometimes but anyway the anime was a good one
Its one of the animes i watched in my teens
Uhh.... memories 😌
Time to rewatch some favorites
it was cringey at first but near the end it got so much better
Well this was a love circle not love triangle 😂😂😂😂😂
But I wasn’t satisfied with the ending though.
But the opening 2 was awesome and heartwarming
It was literally a love Octagon
Kaname loves Chisaki.
Chisaki loves Hikari and Tsumugu at the same time.
Hikari loves Manaka.
Manaka loves Hikari and Tsumugu at the same time.
Miuna loves Hikari.
Sayu loves Kaname.
Akira has a childhood crush on Manaka.
love spaghetti
I get what you mean it left us hurt that it had finished I wasn't too unhappy with the ending though just sad that it had ended
This anime has the most unusual change half way through.
The three suns scene is simply magical.
it’s so cool how you made a comparison between a lull in the sea and the coronavirus
I just binged all of Lull in the sea and it may just be my favorite anime as of now. So underated
ngl i first watched this anime about ten years ago now and I've watched it at least three other times since then.
I started this series a little before “seaing” this thumbnail. I’ll come back to this once I’ve finished the show.
i'm happy you mention this anime nagi no asukara is an masterpiece its so great that even the background art director still post content about this anime twitter
I watched this recently, but I didn’t expect anyone to make any videos about it since it’s a bit old now.
great reveiw, made me apreciate it even more. I'm ready to watch it again (and first time I ever saw it was only like 6 months ago!) I love hearing your take on art and music.
Thank you for this viedo. I was just telling my brothers about this anime. Its so good. Underrated
It’s been so long… I cried watching this video. I think it’s been 4 or 5 years since I’ve watched it, and I still get the feels!
Yeah it's kinda upsetting that the anime is so underrated
God, what a beautiful anime. Was one of the first I ever watched, and it’s still one of my all time favorites
It was the anime that got me INTO anime. Really enjoy it, I remember watching it by parts on UA-cam a long time ago. Glad I can finally watch it fullscreen and HD 😊
This has become my comfort anime. It truly is underrated and no anime lovers I know have seen this anime. They’re really missing out lol
Found this anime in a compilation and didnt regret watching it
This is one of the animes that made me cry. And that's 1 out of the 3. I've seen at least 20 animes since I started :,)
i love a lull in the sea so much its for sure one of my favorite animes i wish more ppl watched it bc its rly an amazing anime i just love how gorgeous the art in it is
I canNOT get over him pronouncing Hikari as Hickory 😂😂
nice video tho
Hickory Smoked Bacon
I watched this during the peak of COVID in 2020, it was lockdown and whenever I didn't have schoolwork I would just watch this I loved it even though it can be a little hard to follow
I found ‘a lull in the sea’ on netflix! Im an anime beginner viewer 😄 i found it when i searched ‘Anime love stories’ then decided to watch it, i loved it when i finished watching these series. ❤️🖤🤍💖💙
This is in my top 5 anime. I think because I absolutely loved it. But it was one of the anime’s where it actually got me to shed tears cause I can somewhat relate. But I honestly think more people should see it due to it being good.
Welcome to the NHK, A Lull in the Sea and waiting in the summer are my all time favorite tv series ever!
omg I was literally crying my eyes out for the entirety of the last 2 episodes, and im still crying lol
I started watching this and loved it so much I literally watched it in a day! lol! its so cute I have my lil sis watching it now! it is now one of my top favorite anime!
Love this video man!!
My Favourite part about this anime so far is that Tsumugu’s VA voices Sakuta from Bunny Senpai
I'm bawling my eyes out reliving this beautiful, absolutely lovely series thru your vid ;-;
The romance was practically a love pentagon before they confessed tsu loves chi chi loves hiki and hiki loves mana and mana loves tsu(personal choices before ts/confessions) and mui>mana
I just finished this anime and it was spectacular it blew away my expectations for just some random anime I thought i could waste some time on
Why is this anime so criminally underrated???
Yes I loved season 2 opening. I've always wanted to slowly freeze the planet over the course of a thousand years
I feel this is such an underrated anime I absolutely loved it
I watch a lot of underrated animes and A lull in the sea is still my top fav
My brother picked this one out for us to watch and at first I was like "nah man this one seems kind of dumb" then we kept watching and I fell in love with the characters and the main plot. I'm glad I decided to keep watching this one
I have the collector's edition of Nagi No Asukara. It is my favourite anime of all time.
Just saw this again, might rewatch it again damn.
I started re watching it today and thought to myself "no one talk about this one" so I proceed to search it on youtube and this is the first video.
I love how he's just chilling with baku
I think mha is really underrated and everyone I know doesn't know this anime
I've probably watched over a 100 animes by now and a lull in the sea is by far one of my favorites
