U gotta watch season 1 and 2 quickly, season 3 is coming out this week if I'm not wrong. Season 1 is comedy but once you get to season 2, you might cry at times
3:40 NO, he is not. It is more obvious in the light novels but Hachiman is by no means happy with himself or his life. He is aware that his worldview is twisted but he repeatedly uses them to pacify himself. He wants to have friends but he can't. He is not an outcast because he wanted to be one but because everyone else rejects him. His cynical behavior is a way of coping with his loner life. Always being alone a way to not get hurt anymore. Over the course of the show he realizes that he cannot keep up this mindset as more and more people start to care about him. I agree: SNAFU ist about growing up. But Hachiman was not happy with his life. Otherwise he would have more self esteem.
what he meant is, that he was not happy but he was comfortable with his life, the other were not, they had many problem with their state of life, while he played easy mode and avoided social bonds etc. because he couldnt and he didnt want to change that at first, but he learned from Yui and Yukino.
When I first watch OreGairu, I didn't think much of it merely because I was around 14 that time so I can't really comprehend the deeper meaning behind that facade of comedy. But for some reason, this anime stayed within my mind for a very long time and I don't know why. After season 2, I would try to find a way to close the gap within both my mind and heart. And to satisfy it, I would - please don't think less of me - visit the FanFiction by chance. After that, I was immersed into the story. A few years later as I reached the age of 17, I began to understand why OreGairu stayed within me even to this day. This anime....represents how my life was. No, I'm not talking about how similar I am to Hachiman instead the one I relate most to (believe it or not) is actually Hayato (the blonde riajuu) and Tobe (the clown in headband). Because just like them, I maintain the status quo of my group of friends and the day we seperated from school wad the day I severed our relationship. I always did play as the popular clown everyone laughs to just so everyone could get along yet to no avail. Some friends fought and it ended up severing their friendship forever. I don't think it's friendship at this point since it easily just cuts off like that. After the last year of my high school, I never looked forward to "befriend" someone again because of this. Though that didn't stop a certain good friend of mine to keep visiting my house to play games with me and talk about girls. Sam, you persistent lad! This anime really hits home with its story and characters and just like Hayato, I am envious of Hachiman. I enjoyed the video, thanks Matt for talking about this underrated (I think?) anime.
That’s such a good review man, it’s very insightful as I didn’t think about the 3 characteristics, it’s very well portrayed! And you’re right, this is one of a few rare anime’s that I won’t mind rewatching and actually enjoy because of all the lessons around it, and its not just about romance but the development of each person that helps us learn and grow too! This show taught me a few stuff that I use always, and now your point hits home too! Great review x.
Mananime you are not a nobody when ever I see a interesting anime the first thing I do is go on your channel to see if you have done a video on it. In my opinion your the most calming and relatable anime channels on UA-cam. Thank you for posting 😊
It's in the title itself. My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. It's a realistic situation with realistic characters. While it may not be Romance focused, it's still there. And S3 will show us that
It was pretty obvious that padamon was going to b the strongest digimon even to 9 year old me. He was the last one to digivolve the first time around and I expected him to b the last the second time around. I just thought that was a bit lazy of the writers, by time the dark masters appeared I was thinking that angelmon could take them all out in his final form.
@@deltak5096 Like the names. Yukino is similar to Yuki-onna, which is snow girl in folk lore. Yukino personality is very cold like a "snow girl" and appears as a beautiful girl in front of 8man. In the legends, Yuki-onna marries the wood cutter but eventually disappears.
I am a german viewer watching it in japanese with english subtitles - SNAFU was one of the hardest shows for me to understand because I needed to read between the lines a lot. I had most problems in understanding Hikkis worldview. But this made the Anime interesting for me, new views, culture and language. I don't think it would be better if you knew all references, als long as you catch them and get exited like me
I watched seasons 1+2 twice 4 years ago and couldn’t watch again because I needed a conclusion. Jump forward to season 3, rewatched seasons 1-2 again before watching season 3 to make sure I didn’t forget anything, and the post anime depression is different with this one; it’s harder to accept, I just want to continue seeing this group grow, yet as usual I know this will not come about. Thanks for the video, I think it helped me understand the show from a different viewpoint and come to terms a little bit. Please consider making another video about season 3! Thanks and subscribed!
Three anime I will always rewatched Snafu, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Hunter X Hunter and SNAFU is so dear to me because character interaction and the more realistic view when it comes to human interaction in highschool all while being playful and that’s good cuz if it was tooooo serious then it could’ve felt frustrating n slower like sing yesterday for me
you arnt a "big youtuber" but you certainly are a recognized one. 11k-90k people is a god damn lot of personalities more than either of us could possibly conceive and overall i think you are deserving of the recognition. really im just saying good job and be proud of those many many people who support you as although the number doesnt seem very colossal, especially compared to the vast size that is youtube, it is definitely an outstanding achievement that is not easy to reach and should not be taken very lightly. good job, keep up the good work
Great video! In my opinion all great romance has the basis of coming of age and it’s what makes snafu so good. My personal favorite anime in Clannad is much more about growing up than romance. In a way, love is a part of growing up and that’s definitely shown in snafu with the second season being about just wanting to surround yourself with people who are genuine and you can call friends by being who you are. Great vid sorry for the ramble lol
When the anime makes you pick between your perceived best girl and the best fit, but you just appreciate the overall character growth so you aren’t as sad >.
Eh Matt I watch those every year too but I think what I like the most is classroom of the elite have you seen it because I really suggest it and I am hoping you can create a video on the main character
No shit it’s not about romance. I found that pretty obvious from my first watch. It has a lot of the trappings of a romcom anime but it’s much more of a drama and a coming of age story. The sarcasm about it “being a rom com” literally oozes from the title.
I never miss anything in any anime because it takes me a lot longer to watch one ep I always replay it if I don’t get a look at everything and the background I don’t know it’s like and OCD it’s just an urge 🤷♂️

Wow that’s crazy I like never rewatch anime but I rewatch thoses ones even before knowing this video believe it or not I was just about to rewatch no pet later
How did you ever get the idea that Yukino was about indipendence. The show literally beats you over the head with her being a follower (first of Haruno and then of Hachiman). Are you sure you consistantly rewatch oregairu or are you making this video after reading the CliffsNotes. If anything, Hachiman is probably the MOST independent character BECAUSE he is the one most secure in his identity.
I tried watching the first few episodes and I don't know, it just hasn't clicked with me yet. Not sure I'll keep watching. Maybe it's just because it's set in high school. Lately I despise all high school anime.
I love the Monogatari series for the dialogue too! Rewatching SNAFU as an adult made me love it SO much more. The way they deal with conflict and challenge each other is extremely mature and introspective. Also watching this show with some knowledge of MBTI is extremely fun!
Holy FCK did u watch this anime at all? U missunderstood almost EVERYTHING it was painful to watch. Well, at least u understood that its a masterpiece...
0:25 Toradora really. I dont know if you realise that that is one of the most toxic animes with one of the worst character development and toxic relationship. Please people NEVER WATCH TORADORA. Great video by the way

HELL FREAKING YEAH!!!
imo, that title should go to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.

I wonder if SNAFU would be 100x better if you knew Japanese culture and language
So many subtle stuffs that English viewers don't comprehend
Can you tell what that is?

Finally someone else who loves two of these shows has much has me
I probably watched every OreGairu video online. I freaking love OreGairu.
It's a shame you aren't getting more views, your content is really good
i juuuuust finished rewatching this series yesterday. i love it even more now!
Toradora, Sakurasou and Oregairu, 3 of my favourite anime ever man
Add relife and bunny girl senpai
NARU22 Relife was great, and I love bunny girl senpai but I think monogatari >>

I am the only one thinking about when yukinon says Save me one day when they are in the rollercoaster🤔

Oregairu is dialogue heavy cause it's a novel originally. Same with the monogatari series
When I got recommended this i though it was going to be your usual romantic comedy slice of life highschool anime but i was far off
When the anime makes you pick between your perceived best girl and the best fit, but you just appreciate the overall character growth so you aren’t as sad >.
Everyone rewatching it ready for season 3 tomorrow
I think about if my teen romantic comedy would have been more popular if only ppl who experienced similar situations watched it
I love this video, someone speaks the real true about snafu the companionship and growing up. Thank you
Damn, I was gonna make this
Mentions lord nuxinor, must be a true intellectual
I can relate to everihing that Hachiman is saying.
Daaaamn our top 3 shows we rewatch are almost identical!
(I substitute Re:Life for Snafu, f*ck I love that show so much)
1 more day and new seasone coming
Naruto is about growing up
I been waiting for season 3 for so long
That list of ones you love= solid
"im a nobody" does my subscription mean nothing to you
This got me to watch snafu. Just finished binge watching it and cliffhanger much...😤💔
I reread Zaregoto 2 a lot and every time I notice something knew about the show
Who’s coming back here after the series finale?
Gotta love a fellow Nux fan
Hey Matt, have any recommendations for another romance anime like toradora and sakuraso?
Now I gotta watch this show
Finished the anime today and started watching it yesterday

Can you review “Rent a Girlfriend” from Crunchyroll?
They are getting season 2 in less than a week :)

3 anime I will watch and rewatch...hunter x hunter eye shield 21 and SNAFU
The dialogue really is that good...just a shame the newest season has such a terrible official translation. And after such a long wait, too.
They might change the translation because it just came out just wait
Personally, I re-watch Sakurasou, Oregairu, Rent-a-Girlfriend and Yubisaki to Renren. Like a lot, a lot alone this year...
