There’s a couple factors that need to be considered: A wind fairing would help quite a bit. This particular camper is wide and not taper and thereby it has increased drag. I’m putting a truck top camper on mine that is much more efficient than this and with the wind faring. It seems that there’s only about a 2% decrease of course winter weather will always slightly exaggerate all numbers.
@@ThunderandLightningEvPickup Yes a wind fairing would be in order. My next video I’m working on will be titled “ Why did I install a Four Wheel Camper on an F150 Lightning”. If it was only up to me, I would have bought a Project M for weight. But, I’m half owner in this camper and my father wanted everything in it. So we bought a Raven.
@ check out the one I put on my truck you might like it. It’s more air dynamic. It has a built-in wind, faring and solar, and so it doesn’t increase too much. There’s small modifications I’m going to make and I’ll be producing more videos, but we just got installed yesterday night done at 7:30 PM.
@@TahoeDogProductions Your lightning camping video was what got me very interested in the lightning. Still not sure which EV I want, but that was such an awesome video. Here's to your success!
Thanks for your video - we live in Mammoth Lakes and we are considering purchasing a ford lightning before year end, and interested in using it for camping. We would love to know what happened to your truck at the end of the trip and any insights you may have to avoid that problem. thanks
The actual mileage for this was about 1.47kw a mile. Sorry for just doing the math on this. I was using the estimate that the on board computer gave me, which showed 1.8.
How did you calculate something different than what’s on there? Just curious I’m about to put a topper camper on my Ford. Lightning standard range next week so your videos are very helpful! Please make more.
I was using the guess o meter which is typically pretty accurate. I traveled 79 miles and used 42% of the battery. I started out 79%. That makes us about 1.47kw a mile. Which is more expected for winter loss. Thank you for noticing.
Exactly! I actually did not use my camper in the winter to go camping with the Lightning. The loss in really cold temperatures is not good at all. This was mild cold. Add to that the true highway speeds and it’s not something I would even try. Thank you for your comments!
@@paybaxwho cares about fuel costs? Unless you live in a corrupt totally screwed up place like California where they charge double what gas should cost, you want performance and peace of mind that you can go do whatever you want and not run out of battery. My truck I can go 600 miles on the highway, fill up anywhere in 10 minutes. Electric can’t compete with that
@@adan7182 Who cares about fuel costs? How quickly we forget that not too long ago gas was a buck a gallon more nationwide or more. Im a lightning owner and cant argue about your points of convenience. But who cares about fuel costs? You must be rich. Im not. Cash savings on fuel was #1 reason I went with the Lightning. Do the math its huge. And if gas goes back up a buck, the savings become far more significant. Mid Atlantic and South yeah but not up here in N.E. But I do believe the Rivian and Lightning are very capable camping vehicles when you consider the electrical advantages they have. And I will be testing those advantages soon, I have a new cap on order!!!
Looks so cold.Very pretty scenery!

Have fun and be safe! I love your camper and super nice!
Mario, great video with excellent imagery. Beautiful shots. Sorry to hear about the F-150 lighting, we hope the Raven treated you well!
Another excellent video please more uploads 😊
Very soon!
Watched about halfway before I subscribed, great video and audio quality
Thank you very much!

That looks like a great setup. What leveling kit did you use on your truck?

Please send me an email. You can find it in my about the channel. I will get back to you there. Thank you for commenting and watching.
Can you do a video on the lift kit you have on it? How much clearance you gained and if it’s leveled 100%
My next video will be a Bronco adventure and after that I will go over it in a Lightning video. Thank you for watching.
Is that a pyr? We have a pyr and a lightning too lol
Ah, so you know they are. so awesome! Mine is half Golden Retriever. Has the protection built in from Pyr, and recall of a Golden :)
As someone who enjoys tent-camping / hiking with 2 large dogs, and considering a truck- or suv- EV , this is my kinda video !
Two large dogs is a handful, but I would feel lost without them. Thank you for commenting and watching!

58% after 39 miles?

Winter, evs and heavy payload don’t mix. They are not practical at all. But it looks cool to watch in a video and the video content is nice

Why not? You driving 100 miles per day? For a construction truck they are great! Can haul daily and save on fuel still

@ lol cute. Enjoy the taxes and sending your money out of country to pay for your fuel. Solar means we aren’t stuck dealing with that BS.
