He also has some negative traits in the RPGs which make him a little more interesting. He has a big ego and is sometimes a little inconsiderate towards Luigi (not that he hates him like the internet seems to see it tho). He can come off as a little naive, too

Mario was my favorite childhood hero that i grew up with. And I don't care if he's a bland character or a psychopathic loonatic (it doesn't matter what he has done, he's still a good guy!) mario is a creative character that was design very easy to appeal young gamers and even older fans that grew up with him in the new latest titles. I mean just look at him, red cap with his letter "M" symbol, has a moustache on his face, he's been wearing overralls and gloves for decades, going alone on his adventures stopping monsters while doing stunts. Mario is a cool character, he's more iconic and more recognizable than other video game characters. People who say mario is a "bland" or "boring" character because he doesn't have that much of the "personality" are just straight up stupid! I've seen him alot in those games for the most fact that he does have a personality unlike other medias like the cartoons, movies, and comic books which is not canon. Because he is fearless, has better traction, and he has three sidekicks that give him different powers and abilities: FLUDD, who can let Mario spray icky paint like goop, Luma, who can give Mario a special spin ability, and Cappy, who can help Mario capture enemies and objects. I was born in the year May 16th 2000. A few years later I played a game. Called Mario Bros. (AKA the one after donkey Kong AKA the very first appearance of Luigi) I played it on the NES and it was a blast. If 3 years after that I played another Mario game called Super Mario 64 and Super Smash Bros 64 as well. then that's how I started like Mario. It was like meeting a character I can actually relate to and love for life along with the company that made the iconic plumber. So basically Mario Bros and Super Mario 64 got me to love Mario and Nintendo for a lifetime. Mario is the true iconic video game character of all time. We will love him forever.
mario is like the water,to sonic's(and other characters) soda. yes soda is a more unique drink.but it's not something that you drink everyday .sonic speedy character is charming and catches an audience,but for people who prefer more careful control struggle with sonic's gameplay .while mario is the drink that you can always come to. its not unique but its reliable.not too slow,but not too fast. not overpowered but strong enough to keep ou intersted. also i draw a lot of sonic and mario art. and Sonic more pointy design makes him look "edgy" or cool even in light hearted art,but mario can be cool,cute,dorky or scary if need be

Because of Mario’s plain and somewhat unremarkable nature, he is very pliable as a character and can fit in a lot of different genres without issue. Sonic was cool, yes, but his character was much more specialized which made it far more awkward to push him into other genres than platforming

I like the overall quality of the video and while I agree with a lot of what you said, the argument with the silent characters simply doesn't make any sense. Mainly because Master Chief and Sans aren't silent characters at all. Especially Sans, who is very well defined and has a unique personality. Plus, he's not even a playable character to begin with. I personally think that the popularity of Mario in the United States came from the accessibility of Nintendo consoles on the US market back in the day and the overall quality and smoothness of the gameplay. I come from eastern Europe and while I heard about Mario and even was able to play some Mario games occasionally, I never really saw the appeal of the character, I was more into the game mechanics. I'll leave a dislike on the video because I simply disagree with the points made but I definitely see a lot of potential in your channel so please do make more content. I honestly think he's the worst, weakest, and most sociopathic character in fiction. Mario has no personality, no emotions, and shows no concern for his brother. He also easily gets killed from animals and only has 2 health unless you get power ups. He also kills wigglers and steps on Luigi's shoe and kidnaps Donkey kong. He literally has all the "qualities" of how a villain should be written, and that's Mario.
