As a baritone, I feel the line would have been more appropriate if it was "I'm just a baritone, never get the melody."

Actaully lower yes but im a little higher.....I think I actually went to G#5 in chest voice (kinda forcful though LOL) my friend can barely hit a B0 LOL!

What I love most about this is how they do not get in the way of the music with their humor. The music, and musicality, comes first. THEN comes the humor. All too often covers of this tune (by groups way beyond barbershop) try to make this song into a circus - and that's exactly what they get, a circus full of elephant poop that everyone laughs at, but nobody feels anything in their heart. These guys are the antithesis of that. They love the music first and foremost ... then they sprinkle some humor (including some subtle 3 stooges references - much appreciated!). Love this performance! Thank you gentlemen !!!!!
That is genuinely one of the best covers of this song I have watched!
This is one of those songs that really lends itself well to being covered by a quartet, but until you HEAR a quartet do it you wouldn't really think of it.
"I'm just a baritone nobody loves me." As a recovering baritone, I resemble that remark.!
I searched for Bohemian Rhapsody as a barbershop quartet cover. I was not disappointed.
I didn't search for this, but was pleasantly surprised!

I would definitely say the upper voices of their quartet need better balance and intonation. They don't seem to blend very well in the opening chords.
Well, they usually have better balance. I think this was a bad song for competition for them because the lead and the baritone both had times they were singing up where the tenor does. And the tenor. Whoo, boy, you could tell he was even stretching. It's a fun song, good for a show piece, but I wouldn't say good for competition.
Jazz Daddy Criticisms You do realize that this was just a “show piece”. As 2010 International Quartet Champions, Storm Front doesn’t compete anymore.
That might have had more to do with the sound mixing - as they all were mic-ed separately. I've heard them with better balance than this. Sound engineer needed to up their game! :)
I agree. The sad part is this song is genuinely funny! I would love to see this done by them again.
It's all as a quartet if the quartet was singing the BASS was great but the upper three parts need work.......CONNOR ARE YOU A BASS SINGER WHO HAS AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX FROM SINGING WITH SINGERS NEVER AS GOOD AS YOU? Or do you have a a PHD In Music so what you say carries any value at all?

Haven't had as much fun since FRED. Storm Front joins the pantheon of great quartets. Oh and they are funny too.
Thom, as you are probably aware, FRED was born out of the Big Chicken Chorus, and (coincidentally) Storm Front will be Big Chicken Chorus' guest at our spring show on 4/23.
So this is the alternate universe where the constructicons are a great barbershop quartet- got it.

This piece is really more about the performance itself than it is about raw technical skill, as is the case with most, if not all, barbershop quartets.

Mitch Miller was a band leader, long ago, and also worked as a producer at (I think) Capitol Records. He also had his own TV show for a while, and was known in the industry for playing and promoting the sappiest, blandest, most sugary crap to ever assault human ears. Seriously, he made Lawrence Welk look like a rock'n'roll star. Mitch Miller was also known as a bit of a tyrant. Jo Stafford and her husband created the comedy send-up duo, Jonathan & Darlene Edwards, to defend their sanity from the stuff he made her sing on her Capitol albums.

I believe that Mitch was in charge of Columbia records. For years they refused to sign rock and roll acts because Mitch was disgusted by rock music.

Ok, I love Ringmasters (they are truly wonderful!) but I wouldn't exactly call them a comedy quartet, would you? I think you are comparing apples to oranges. When it comes to comedy quartets, Storm Front is one of the greatest of all time. And certainly, when it comes to the world of serious barbershop, Ringmasters is one of the greatest of all time. I don't think Ringmasters could pull off a comedy routine like Storm Front's Lida Rose, do you?
