Damn if your brain cells are functioning as well as this quartet then I’d better clean up my act. I got thousands of the things and yet I still forget which switch is the light and which one is the fan
The most exciting thing for me about NF4 is the huge improvements you can see them making each year. If you go back and look at the things they were doing even 12 months ago and then watch them do the same songs in Orlando, the difference is so clear. They were really good last year, but they keep taking insane steps forward and it shows in scores, placements, and in the level of the performance generally. Helps that they're hilarious and have mastered the art of just being themselves on stage.
An additional thing they've mastered is their role within their group. You've got Joey the Nutjob. Jacksahn the goof, Ryan the straight man, and Jake the enigma.
I literally cried. I never thought I'd be touched by a smash mouth song, but this version can get the message through very clearly by carefully deconstructing the lyrics and expanding on its message. Before it was just a meme song with whatever lyrics Now it's like shine on your crazy diamond for me.
Theres a fairly large area for the judges before the main seating area begins, so it's hard to hear the audience reaction in the videos. There was a lot of love for NF4 in the room!
OKAY BUT THE RESONANCE AT 4:52 THE R E S O N A N C E as someone who has lived their entire life surrounded by music of all forms, that resonance, that p e r f e c t i o n, makes me geek out more than anything.
@@henryolsen8232 It's sounds reinforcing other sounds - each note they sing has 'overtones' (like faint higher notes), and if they line up their notes _perfectly_ they can get those faint notes to reinforce each other and get much louder and stronger. (That's a key part of what barbershop singers are aiming for - it creates a unique sound, like there are more than four singers in the room.) Because that particular chord they sang was really perfect, it sounds much louder than normal, and you can hear all the notes still hanging in the air at 4:52. That's because resonant frequencies reinforce each other, so they last longer than normal. (Someone pointed out in one of the comments above that the guy on the right, Ryan, looks like he's having a genuine emotional reaction at that moment - that's because he's just realised how perfectly they nailed that chord!)
They might not be the most talented from a musical or harmonic perspective. But for commanding a crowd and providing a great show they are unparalleled. They also are extremely talented in singing in general.
More than 20 TIMES the views of the "champions" - thank you guys for talent, showmanship, humor, visuals, great arrangements and a really nice blend that doesn't assault my ears - keep it up!
Although the 'arrangement' didn't work as well for me, these guys are soooo underrated. They put a huge amount of 'extra' work into their routines and songs. I hope they never win so we can see and hear their fab songs. A great singing quartet that is also carving a funny niche. This is the perfect combination and 'order' of talents! Congrats gents, love you work and thank you for all the extra work.
