Love this idea about reviewing used bikes. I love watching videos of all the exciting new models, but these reviews will actually be more useful for me personally. Cheers!
Great story mate. Thanks. I've done 60,000kms on mine with no major issues. (Had a spring in the gear-change mechanism break) She's been on lots of long trips and many dirt roads and creek crossings. Still a delight to ride.
I have a 2015 899, full termi's and other bits. I've yet to have a single issue with it....not once has it been in for repair. It has 8,000 trouble free fun miles. I own it and a 2016 Sportster 48 and I still might add the UGLY V4 Panigale to the stable, but nothing is replacing the 899. It's the perfect bike for road and track.
I'm stuck between this 899 or a daytona 675r as my bike upgrade choice... i would use it mostly for street and fun riding on weekends and nice weather, not my primary vehicle. Also like the idea of taking it to the track sometime. Alot of people are saying the 899 would be better for street riding because of the daytona's riding position but I love everything about the Daytona (except for the looks which the 899 wins in that department). Also not a huge fan of the 899 sound compared to the daytona, is this ducati just a much better choice than the daytona- would I get the daytona and regret my purchase because of how uncomfortable it is?
I bought a used 14 899 this past summer. I love the looks and power, more than enough for the street. Heat is only an issue on days over 80 in stop and go traffic. Great bike for anyone used to a 600 and not really interested in liter bike power. Handles better than I can ride it, as of yet. I always wanted at Ducati and I got one that was pretty affordable. I forgot, the sound is better than anything else that I ever heard on the road.
I forgot, front brake had to be bled every month because air was getting in the system. This is another known issue but with my bike it was particularly bad to the extent the dealer suggested replacing the master cylinder. The bleed point is at the master cylinder at the highest point in the system. Anyway decided to change the brake fluid and discovered the left hand brake caliper bleed nipple was only finger tight. Issue not resolved but significantly reduced bleed periods.
i bought a used 796 Hypermotard and now people treat me like royalty even though my bike is kind of a rag with sliders but no one cares, they just read Ducati and love it...i get waived through gated communities just because they think im some spoiled man child
So glad, at anytime I can go to My garage and take a glimpse of it ... or ride a around the canyons by a few blocks away, nor cruise around side the pacific coast highway in the beauty SOCAL weather.. love my 1199 s.
And one other thing, the trickle battery charger from Ducati, supplied with the bike AUD $130 to replace, also packed up. But with a 3 year warranty was replaced at no charge.
Good review and idea but would be nice to know how many miles that one had for 8k. Also a talk about regular maintenance costs would be nice. May I suggest to review high mileage used bikes!
IMO as a hypermotard 1100 evo sp owner id say after owning 3 Ducati's they have the absolute worst record ever for shitty cheap fixings and coatings so, whatever you buy factor in some recoating and a shed load of ti and stainless fixings. The absolute icing on the cake is the engine coating. Awful. You really would have thought that whoever is in charge of said items at Ducati has never seen any adverse weather ever. Having said that once youre through that minefield theyre great bikes.
I just bought an 899 a few months ago. It's amazing to ride and a beautiful motorcycle. Like one of the other comments on here, yes the heat can get to you in stop and go traffic, but there's modifications for that. But all in all, I love mine and don't plan on selling it.
No mention of the heat off the exhaust header this is surely the main issue with these ?! Also like the idea of these older reviews but you need to test ride the bike again for the video

Quando bellezza ed ingegneria si fondono in un insieme armonico creando qualcosa di magnifico ed unico significa che stiamo sfiorando i livelli piu' alti del genio umano. Brava Ducati, orgoglio Italiano.
This 899 is definitely one of my favourite sports bikes cosmetically 👌 but it does still come with the usual Ducati problems ok nothing major but nevertheless its not as bulletproof as you have said would i take this over my Triumph Daytona 675R 🤔🤔🤔
I own a 2015 from new, and disagree with the clutch upgrade - it should have had a slipper clutch (the 959 now does) and fitting one makes a big difference to the track experience. Yes, swap the footpegs, never mind the wet, they’re like ice in the dry! Again, the 959 has ones with grip. It will get hot in traffic, heat is never an issue at the track, I’ve ridden it in 30 degrees there. Brakes are odd in that they lack initial feel and bit, but still have great stopping power. Minor negatives, I still love mine, it’s not going anywhere. Literally at the moment, it’s in the garage...
I'm really really tempted. The Panigale is my favorite looking bike ever since it first came out. But the S1000RR HP4 has been my favorite bike overall. I'm finally in a good position to where I can afford my dream bike, but the want for a top performer has dissipated. A 1199/1299 or S1000RR, R1, type monstrous bikes aren't as attractive. I still love them, but I just don't think it's for me. I want something a bit more tame. I'm not going to track my dream bike, I'm not going top speed on the autobahn with it, I just want a fun weekend toy. And I think the 899 fits the bill perfectly. Maybe the 675R Daytona as well, but I prefer the styling of the Ducati. Maybe a newer 959, but I'd have to import a USA spec one because of that horrible Euro exhaust. Decisions decisions.
I got one, great bike! One thing you could have mentioned is the insanely uncomfortable seat. I had a 998 before and even that one's seat was loads better even though the 998 was way more extreme in terms of body position. But hey, you just have to get a new seat, and there are quite a few options.
3:39...OR the owner loves upgrading their rides. Kinda have to disagree with that statement. I have a 2012 GSXR, kitted out better than most AMA Superbikes. I like upgrading vehicles, and when I get done with them I sell them. To say that someone is “Hiding Something” is a little uncalled for. Why did this spark my interest, I’m actually selling my GSXR to get one of these (rider aides) and I’m gonna “Trick” it out. I don’t want 2 years from now to go and sell it and some wanker doesn’t want to buy it because “Did you wreck it?”
I like to "upgrade" my bikes too. The trick is to keep all the original parts which you sell on with the bike. That shows that you didn't crash it, easy sale.
Just sold mine after 2 1/2 years because I was worried about reliability. Dont know what planet you are on, but whatever planet it was they didnt have a 899 there. Issues whilst under warranty: LCD screen cracked, they also have a habit of melting. Water pump packed up, a known problem apparently. Lead to tail light was partially sheared off. Discovered when fitting tail tidy. Of 6 bikes two of which over 20 years old, the only one that failed to start due to low cloud and water getting into electrics. Gear position sensor failed preventing bike from starting as it hunted between gears in neutral. Another common problem that you can expect every couple of years at AUD $230 a time. All this on a total of 14,000 Kms....ummmm. The killer if you live in a hot climate is the heat hitting the inside of your legs and backside that becomes unbearably. And the design of the mirror arm pivot, you will discover as the mirrors start flapping around after a short period of time. And I never found the quick shifter to work properly, sometimes it was OK, other times it would bang into the next gear then jump back a gear. Gave up using it. On the right day and road, great to ride, great brakes beautiful smooth gearbox. But for me to many issues.
2000€ sallary after taxes each month, sometimes more. But after appartment rent and bills to pay, 330€ motorcycle insurance + other costs of bike and service is just not near affordable.
I bought the 2018 Ninja 1000 (z1000sx) instead. Very diffrent bike but it has more than enough power and touring capabilities. Also the insurance is 1/4 of the Panigale 899.
lol 1:50 ohh yea that dual swing arm really made me " Japanese bike fan " give ducati a go, because we all know thats what we are into, Dual swing arms LOL
I'm waiting for the used bike review that says "I know that 3 years ago we said this was a great bike but hey 3 years later and we know so much more about it and boy I can tell you now that this thing is a true piece of shit!" Keegan Webb I agree 100%
Keegan Webb more coming Keegan.
Yes, this was great! More of these please.
More coming Alex

My gear change spring has just gone after 21k miles, how much was yours to replace?
@@andrewrichardson6625 around $200 (Aus)
Thank you... You have just swayed me away from buying a Panigale for a good reason that doesn't match what I want to do.
It's the perfect bike for road and track.
i think there is no bike you get issues with, when it only has 8.000 miles.
I'm stuck between this 899 or a daytona 675r as my bike upgrade choice... i would use it mostly for street and fun riding on weekends and nice weather, not my primary vehicle. What about engine heat
@@Manojshankar187 yeah, the engine heat can get to you, but you can easily ride it out. Or you can put the heat shields they sell.
I bought a used 14 899 this past summer. I love the looks and power, more than enough for the street. Heat is only an issue on days over 80 in stop and go traffic. Hii how bad is the heat? Can it be driven in hot country
600 cc wasn’t dying! EU regulations killed it.
Nobody bought them new
I forgot, front brake had to be bled every month because air was getting in the system. This is another known issue but with my bike it was particularly bad to the extent the dealer suggested replacing the master cylinder. The bleed point is at the master cylinder at the highest point in the system. Anyway decided to change the brake fluid and discovered the left hand brake caliper bleed nipple was only finger tight. you didn't mention the heat ?
I really appreciate this series! Thank you for looking out for us guys with regular sized wallets!
Surely the best used bike out there! ;0)
TheMissendenFlyer Without a hint of bias! :-)
Why would a japanese bike fan NOT want the single sided swingarm?!
steveman1982 ikr, they went from something unique to being a dime a dozen
The 899 was a cheaper alternative, no clear coat, no ohlins, no single sided swingarm. Not sure it was to entice the Japanese enthusiasts.
Pillion section was milk out the nose laugh worthy!
Awesome. Perfect video.
i bought a used 796 Hypermotard and now people treat me like royalty even though my bike is kind of a rag with sliders but no one cares, they just read Ducati and love it...i get waived through gated communities just because they think im some spoiled man child
Im happy for you 😆
So much better than reading stuff from the script! Finally !
just got one of these yesterday with only 300 miles! bikes brand new! couldnt be happier!
Lucky bastard hoping my offer stands bikes got 1400 miles still loving it?
How much for the Insurance?
Brilliant series. Thank you for doing this!
Love that you're going to do reviews on predecessors. Great channels. Should redo the reviews w track tests and road Tests
So glad, at anytime I can go to My garage and take a glimpse of it ... or ride a around the canyons by a few blocks away, nor cruise around side the pacific coast highway in the beauty SOCAL weather.. love my 1199 s.
Great review. I preferred my Triumph 675R from a performance perspective, but no doubt who wins the beauty contest!
I bloody love the 899. More useable than the likes of a 1299 on the road. Yes its older and doesnt have an auto-blipper and all that, but...
And one other thing, the trickle battery charger from Ducati, supplied with the bike AUD $130 to replace, also packed up. But with a 3 year warranty was replaced at no charge.

@Thomas B Did you get it fixed? If so how much
@Thomas B well damn. Looks like I may be spending around $700 lmao
I was lucky enough to have purchased my 899 new in 2014. It's been my dream to have a Ducati but they were always out of my price range.
James Jackson hows the reliability?
Great review. Actually usable information. 👍
Hi nice video guys could you do one for a multistrada as well
We need more used bike .. Well its affordable bikes for some people for those want to upgrades and not trying to shredding their wallet
More coming!
No mention of the heat off the exhaust header this is surely the main issue with these ?! Also like the idea of these older reviews but you need to test ride the bike again for the video

Would be great to see more of these videos!
Great presenting and cool bike 👍
can you advice on higher level clip ons please (the old back ) if seen some on one model ...and turning to clear fairing
What are the bump stops he's talking about? I googled it and didn't get any result that matched the picture
more of these please
I saw do a review on the now old gen CBR Fireblade! Would love to see your thoughts in comparison to the new bike
Any heat issues?
Great review, thank you.
I heard the paint finish is questionable, easily scratched etc....maybe not enough lacquer? Any views on this?
Great work love it, more of these.
Loved the review. Do the 1199s Panigale next
Keep Up the good work
Awesome video. Keep it up guys
Hey mate, it is a brilliant idea. Please go on this series
Perfect CBT commuter!
Good video guys, nicely reviewed. I'm looking into second hand bikes at the moment and was wondering what is a 'high mileage' motorbike?

How many miles can a Ducati 899 Panigale longlast?
i doubt between monster 821 and this (panigale 899)
i ride now on a BMW G310
Thought they had gearbox issues?

Thanks for the info Kevin, maybe down to the make of slipper you fit. This came from a dealer who races them so Credible source. Cheers
Bike World mines a Sigma slipper clutch, fitted by a Ducati dealer - in case that helps someone.
Very good, honest review. Subscribed.

Wish they would put that motor in the hypermotard
Hypermotard 1100s is still one of our favourite bikes.
awesome vid guys! but what exactly is a bump stop?
It's a steering stop.
All the things are staying at right place and also perfect match! Shinning red ! Hot!
Thanks for another excellent review video

Perfect vid, for the love of god please do blade 2009, 1199, s1000rr
double swing arm was proper move. Riding single side swing arm is pushing your luck with physics....
My dream bike, too bad they don't make sport bikes for short people too😭
you should do more review - you seem like the Chris Harris of motorcycles.
Can I have a rider there?
Great idea!
Ive heard too many horror stories with ducati electronics otherwise Id love to get one
Dash kinda looks like the rc51 dash
899 cost me 4000€ each year to insure fully. Im 32 years old. Not affordable in Stockholm Sweden.
That's massive! How much do you make a month (or a year)?
Here in Portugal we have better weather but this things are not easy to afford...
2000€ sallary after taxes each month, sometimes more. But after appartment rent and bills to pay, 330€ motorcycle insurance + other costs of bike and service is just not near affordable.
After 3 years I would have paid as much insurance as the whole bike is worth ;P
Your salary seems pretty good, at least that! :)
Enjoy it. It's a great bike. If you like it, nothing else matters.
I bought the 2018 Ninja 1000 (z1000sx) instead. Very diffrent bike but it has more than enough power and touring capabilities. Also the insurance is 1/4 of the Panigale 899.

Gorgeous bike 👍🏽👍🏽✌🏽
Owned an 899, mega little bike
What about the heat that cooks your bums and thighs to medium rare to rare? 😛
Check out my 899. Fully custom with 1199 swing arm 1199 clocks ect ect.
Great looking bike.
Still a sexy bike. Why spend 20k when you can own this beauty
Nice 🏍 bike, but the Insurance is a kill joy.
Love the video’s! If you want more Panigale content I upload new Panigale video’s three times a week!
lol 1:50 ohh yea that dual swing arm really made me " Japanese bike fan " give ducati a go, because we all know thats what we are into, Dual swing arms LOL
Well I know you love rice, I would of done a run with rice cookers attached for the ricer dorks.
They should put a black vibrator on the seat if they want to attract people from your market LOL
That is still my dream bike, if anyone sees one around £7k send me a message.
The 899 is just look like a Ducati, but in real life it is a super sport scooter.
899 palligale
I rather buy a VOGE 300rr
148 HP lel
Its a middle weight, and it makes more power than every other middle weight.
RubberGently my daily drive car produce 70hp..
I'm waiting for the used bike review that says "I know that 3 years ago we said this was a great bike but hey 3 years later and we know so much more about it and boy I can tell you now that this thing is a true piece of shit!"
Say what you want about this bike but it's still easy as fuck to stall from a dead stop, and yeah it may look great but you're still going to look stupid with a Ram 250 sticking out of your ass cause odds are that you're going to stall it at the worst time.
R1-M
That was dumb statement at the end. This bike is no where close to the V-4
Don't think you get it Michael, we know it's no V4.
Your mom won't know the difference.
His comment just went right over your head Kastner huh lol
C'mon... this is commercial.. :(
MILEAGE WILL BE HEADACHE IN INDIA😂😢
Exhaust sucks big time
Did it occur to you that our knowing the year-of-manufacture and the mileage on this (used) Ducati bike might be useful? You've completely wasted our time.
