Of course the Ducati will win,, it better win since it's not even a middle class,,, the Gixxer is the only original middle class bike there. give me a break with this bullshit
Sickestonesriders MinistryClub The 899 is only $14-$15k, so what's your point? Also - as far as the middle class argument - given it's a twin, it'd officially be in the same class as the four-pot Gixxer 750.
YarekBalear ok how much is the Gixxer 750cc - no more than $10k , let me put $5k on top of that and then we'll see where your 899cc "middle class" is at... come on man.
YarekBalear and that goes for the 1199 Panigale too, let me even out the price on a 2014 zx10R and you'll see my point,, , it ain't anyone's fault the vtwins can't move at an even CC with the Japo bikes
Suzuki needs to redesign that gixxer, not a great look. MV Agusta and Ducati looks great but I wouldn't have either one of them, part availability and the dealer network is not great.
***** Coming from someone that has never ridden a 08 cbr600rr, next time try and do some research and you'll realize the 08 cbr600rr ran the fastest 1/4 mile time out every 600cc supersport at 10.52 @ 132mph. Reference: Google "Sport Rider 1/4 miles times." Nice try though!
***** depends on the rider's skill. With two riders of equal skill it would probably be a very close race. Sport Rider's 1/4 mile time for the 2013 kawasaki zx6r 636 is 10.71 @ 131 mph vs the 2008 honda cbr600rr 10.52@ 132 mph.
2008 vs 2013? There's a 5 year difference buddy. And only posers laugh at what others riders ride. Riding is an art, on whatever it is you ride. Also, only a idiot would discredit what the 600RR has achieved, and what it is.
In my opinion,Suzuki has done a really good job by producing the Gsxr 750 all these years..The extra power & the easy ride of that bike is what most riders look for..
You guys are talking about performance and technical detail but another very important factor is that chemistry between bike and rider, without that you can give him the lastest bike, he won't feel very happy at all
I ride a 2000 Honda CBR929RR, it's the best bike I ever owned, and I have no doubt in my mind it would make minced meat out of this line-up without any electronics, and keep up with the liter bikes. 150HP crank, 379lbs dry is still very respectable after 14 years. I was thinking about the Pani 899, but after taking a closer look and riding with people who have Pani 1199's, I cannot justify the cost vs performance, not even close.
Thanks Motorcycle.com ..u guys are just amazing updating videos with latest bikes and that too in a fiercely competitive Middle weight sports bike category.. I love your videos.
+mike216ism I've only ridden a 1998 VFR800, Bought an 09 GSXR 750 and rode my friends BMW S1000rr. For everyday use I like my GSXR I think I made a good choice buying it :)
The mark test at the end, I think the Suzuki sounded nice. Also reading through the comments here I think I think people are not getting the point of these videos. They are informative, and are made for you to decide what you might choose if you were buying a model in this category in this Year. Its a good review, as always these people are honest and give true feedback. I like V-twins, I love the grunt I hear they are nice and light and stunning, I like the Suzuki for sound and reliability but the MV with or without ABS through a pedigree of biking history and the Italian re birth of a new company taking it seriously gets my vote
The Daytona 675R is a Middleweight sport bike while these are all Super Middleweight. There isn't exactly a fine line between the two but it's basically a bike between 600 and 1000 cc's that makes upwards of 150 hp I think while 600's make around 118-135hp. Thats what I think.
Hey guys, love the review as always. Just a question about your comment on the Ducati's engine braking. You said you didn't like it compared to the other two bikes. Just wondering if you changed the EBC settings and tried all 3 modes for the engine braking and didn't like any of them? Or did you just not like the factory setting (can't remember if it is 3 or 1 out of the box). I just picked up one of these bikes but unfortunately I have to wait for the snow to finish melting here before I can ride it for the first time.
I'll save everyone the trip to the other site; good old reliable won: Gixxer 750. Special Note: I never went to the other site; come on, who is really going to go to the other site; these guys didn't make it exciting enough for me to venture out of the world of UA-cam. Still, Thumbs Up for the video. Helps them keep making more videos.
i wish mv would offer a stripped down electronics package for the f3 675/800 would love to get one, but the closest service place is 250+ miles away, love the way triples sounds & makes it's power, the daytona & f3 are tops
I am a big fan of MV Agusta, I own two of their bike, but I have to say that the way the power is delivered on the F3-800 scared me (Demo bike). At around 4000rpm it just lifts the front with very little throttle.
I don't know how you could say the frame work is even remotely ugly.. If it weren't for the maintenance and part costs, my garage would be teeming with Duc's.
All three bikes are clearly awesome, and mainly it will come down to price and personal preference, both visually and characteristically (engine configuration).
Im sooo jealous i live right in la canada i ride the crest all the time if i ever see u guys im asking for an autograph!!! Another great episode i really like the filmer
so many people here don't understand why the ducati is the winner in this test.. they think because the gixxer could might be as fast or faster around the track than the 899, it should be the winner because its alot cheaper? The name, looks, sound, vibe, feel and awesomeness of a ducati superbike (especially panigales) is something i would even pay three times the money for.. 4-in line japanese bikes are cheaper, more reliable, and have an overwhelming high end (even though the 1199 has that to) but are absolutely boring to ride, predictable, no personality to it, plastic finish, and sound like a mosquito on drugs.. the days where i still loved riding 4 in lines because i didnt know any better are long gone.. once a ducati, always a ducati
Archerke Sort of agree but not about the inline 4 engines... BMW S1000RR and ALL the new 2017 models being released like the NEW GSXR1000, CBR1000R SP2, and HP4 Carbon edition are going to give ANY MV, Ducati, Triumph, and Aprilia a run for their money!
btw 899 panigale is 900cc bike which is almost a litre. that performs as much as gsxr 750. it took them another 150cc more to get the same power of gixxer
Suzuki have spent years perfecting this 750 it is the best value for money and has the most versatile engine. Extremely quick, unless your a motorcycle racer you really won't notice much difference from the 1000. I know I have the 1000.
I started with a GSXR 1000 and i love my bike! Suddenly i wanted to get the 1199 panigale but i think its more like "look i have a panigale etc maybe i get the ducati tricolore and of course ill keep my GSX R even thought at the end of the road its about the rider not the bike.
My first sportbike was a blue and white 1986 GSXR 750.Great bike for tight canyons.Though the brakes would bite hard at the last moment. You thought going into a downhill 180 degree turn you we're going to die than the brakes hooked hard and it was exciting. The bike passed everything in a tight canyon.Though it had alot of false neutrals that kind of sucked. On the freeway I went 70mph plus everywhere cause it killed your back if you didn't split lanes and go fast to your destination. The bike was solid and had a short wheelbase and a 40mm front fork.Would I buy another one.If I was 24 years old I would buy the GSXR 750 or the 1000 as its the best canyon bike. Now at 51 years young I would buy a Yamaha FZ1,a FZ09,a Suzuki Hayabusa. A Honda CBR 650 when it releases this summer.Something thats sporty and comfortable like my current ride a 2009 FZ6.I'm going to buy something new.Maybe a 2014 Kawaski Ninja 1000 in blue or green. You can see where i'm going .A sportbike that doesn't require painmeds after a 5 hour drive.Sitting upright is cool with me now.If it was a Ducati or MV i'll pass for now.If it was a Triumph and I had the funds the 2014 Speed Triple R is radical.A Harley if I won it in a contest.Ill ride any motorcycle I win in a giveaway even that cool Honda Grom 125cc with 4 gears that goes 60mph.If it gets me to the beach in comfirt.I'll ride it.Also I'll give my honest account of any bike I own or ride.
Once again great video guys. You each shared your opinions and you got right down to the point. Love watching your videos. Come to think of it, you guys don't have much of a competition when it comes to reviews.
If you want to get there in style buy the Ducati or MV. Both stunning looking bikes. But if you want to get home, buy the GSXR. Absolutely bullet proof reliability.
Nice review guys, however I would have liked to see dyno tests of all three as part of the review as well tacked on at the end maybe or were you trying to get us to go to the website???? ;-) I liked the 'sound check' pulling off from the camera and through the tunnel. Nice touch! Many people also like their bikes to sound a certain way, so it was good to hear the contrast of the three.
To conclude your scoring, the GSXR lost because of Appearance, Cool Factor and Grin Factor, which are categories that each have the same weight as Handling for example. And I mean if you seriously need traction control, buy a bazzaz unit, their traction control is great. Use the rest of the money to chop of a few kilos, get a nice tune and a good suspension setup and we've got a winner. I am not a GSXR fan and ride a S1000RR and a CBR600RR myself, but if you are serious about riding it seems like the gixxxer is still the real deal in the middle weight class.
I brought a bike that wasn't even featured in this video a 2013 675r and tbh id say it's every bit as good as any of these 3 here if not better with fully adjustable ohlins carbon here there everywhere quikshifter brembos front and rear abs and more 🏁🏁🏁🏁
Ever since I started to ride bkes, I was introduced to suzuki's as it gained the reputation as best middle weight class bike. No doubt its still hold n reign the crown. Suzuki is all time mid weight class bike, I love them :) It got best handling, ergonomics, economy and seating/riding position.
Sathya Narayanan Balakrishnan It's not the best handling anymore. The 2 Italian bikes both have it beat, also this latest Gixxer is no looker. In the U.K the 899 Pani consistantly comes out on top against the Suzi in road and track tests. But the soundtrack from that MV is just simply georgeous.
You guys work wonders with what you've got, but you need to come over to Europe and ride. Those roads in your clip are in a pretty rough state.. I could understand how one could evaluate an off road bike but not a refined sport bike.. try Austria or Northern Italy (where most great sport bikes are made and tested, for a reason). Race tracs are far better, too...
Cool review. I'm not really into suzuki bikes but for the looks, I much prefer the styling of the 2008 gsxr-750. Out this group test though, I'd go with suzuki.
LJ Balongue the performance is there is just not a good cruising bike for the city you can feel that it wants to be ridden hard. It's been two months with the bike and I'm still messing with the mapping settings. The throttle is real sensitive.
not putting up a link on-screen during review, and esp. at the end when you mention the scorecard, is a mistake I can't imagine an excuse for - and I'm great at dreaming up excuses for anything! WTF?! no more forced errors if you want to survive.
After test riding a GSXR I am just amazed at how good the ergonomics are for a sports bike. I hear the S1000RR is also comfortable so thats what I want to try out next. "Squids" really do give the GSXRs a bad name, they are awesome bikes.
+DJ MotoVlogs The reason "squids" choose the gsxr over the rest is pretty much due to how rider friendly the bike is. The positioning is not aggressive nor completely upright. The seat is pretty comfortable. The bike also doesn't sit very high. Basically everything a strictly street rider is looking for. You've ridden one so you know what I'm talking about. It's sad that Suzuki has done so well yet gets a negative outlook from the success.
Yeah, that's true but the new superbikes are so fast now. I have an 899 and was on Road Atlanta with it last week. It certainly puts the power in perspective when you are on a long straight and someone pulls the trigger on a BMW S1000RR next to you. I was completely blown away by how fast they are. I was also getting outdone on the top end by the other 1000s too, R1s and CBR1000RRs. I still love the 899 and it's a great bike, but superbikes are unbeleivable these days.
I thought it's more about feel.. I just went from a cbr 600 to 899.. the 899 feels lighter through the twisties, quicker response on my commute lane splitting which may be the lifesaver.. it does add some power as well but at 15k was pricier about same width. The Honda was more comfortable to sit for sure though. unless you set to corner on the ducati the seat gets uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so, for the passenger well pretty sure ducati designed passenger seat to castrate any man riding 'bitch' and make sure any guy that puts his girl back there turns her from all men forever.. That said the 'comfort' seat for the ducati passenger is ok but another $170
I also came from a CBR600RR to the 899, and I love it. Everything for it is crazy expensive compared to the Honda though, but it's worth it. I've got almost 3k miles on it so far and I've loved every minute of it.
DolleHengst Totally depends on cylinders...if a bike has 2 than an 899 is close to a 700-750 4 cylinder...same for 3 cylinder bikes...they are allowed to have more displacement to make up for the cylinder loss...This has been common in the cycle world for decades.
That's what I was thinking, I still consider the 600s to be the middleweight class. These are like that odd step in between middleweights and superbikes imo
So the gixxer is a very competent tool... and I should have used that in my debate on another video while trying to describe my experience with the GIXXER 1000... it is so true they are just made to do the job with high standards without the show and glamour...
The GSX-R is the best one if you want to know how to be skilled at riding. While it is the squid bike of the century, the lack of ABS and traction control force you to learn how to control your braking and throttle properly or you risk high/low siding.
"The GSX-R is the best one if you want to know how to be skilled at riding." - not at all.. ABS and TC just improve safety not reduce your ability to learn.
James Currey There's actually a video by RidingWithTom where one of his subscribers locked up Tom's girlfriend's R125 and crashed it. The sub had learned on an ABS equipped bike, and he grabbed too much brake on the R125 expecting ABS to save him. So yes, I do somewhat agree with Deso and disagree with you, but nobody should be learning to ride on a super-mid anyway.
I don't think anyone here gets the point... Money wise the gsxr is the best choice - but you don't buy an italian bike for the low price or friendly usability, you buy it for the pure excitement and joy you get each time you start her up. I have owned a ducati and just bought a s1000rr which i'm now selling for a panigale 899 because the bmw doesn't give me the joy and excitement. I don't know about you, but i'm not going to buy a gixxer that looks like shit and is owned by 25% of the population...i'd rather get the panigale which not only looks absolutely stunning, but sounds like a beast on a rampage.
You guys musta not been watching the races last couple years .... with the exception of Julez Cluzel on the MV, the YZFR6 Yamaha has been, by far and away, have been taking the championships. . just sayin'
Here in good old New Zealand, the 899 Panigale is $2599, which is very competitive, and what I like is the 24000km service intervals, which is far better than the 10,000km intervals it used to be, which is what has put me off buying one. I currently own a 6 month old Hayabusa , which currently has 5600kms on the clock. I absolutely love my Hayabusa, because it does everything well, and, while not perfect, it's hard to fault? Eventually however, I will need to replace it, and on the face of it, the 899 appeared to be a good candidate? I am put off however by the lack of mid-range torque, which the Hayabusa has oodles of, and the need to rev it hard to get the most out of it? I will however ride one when I can find a demonstrator, to form my own opinion? Who knows, I may even be tempted off the mighty Busa?
So basically what I'm hearing is the suzuki is the only bike I would want out of these 3 because it is the only one without all the technological goodies
Ducati 899 Panigale is the winner!
Of course the Ducati will win,, it better win since it's not even a middle class,,, the Gixxer is the only original middle class bike there. give me a break with this bullshit
Look here man if Japan was to make a $25-30k middle class or super bike it would blow these Italians out of the water... lol
*CycleCruza* you think part availability & dealer network are a problem for a Ducati or MV? try owning a Benelli Tornado 900..
Agreed, I can't stand the looks of Gixxers generally. They always screw up the front end. But, Suzuki make brilliant engines.

You cannot deny the pure sexiness of the Ducati, (any Ducati at that).. GSXR's just a little outdated to be a true contender.
Sometimes performance out ways image. And that's a good thing.
rdelaski Status thing... Check out how many World Superbike titles they have compared to the competition.
I don't know how you could say the frame work is even remotely ugly.. If it weren't for the maintenance and part costs, my garage would be teeming with Duc's.
Gotta give my vote to the 899.
the Ducati looks sooo good on the road
Come on now people. It doesn't matter what kind of motorcycle it is. Once you through a leg over, you're gonna have FUN!!!
love the outtro - nice one!
Can we do one for the 2018 bikes?
All three bikes are clearly awesome, and mainly it will come down to price and personal preference, both visually and characteristically (engine configuration).
Completely agree, 100%. Wallet & wow factor will determine which one you prefer.
can anyone please tell me what type of jacket is worn by Troy Siahaan? (the black one with a hoodie attached on it). Thanks before. =)
The GSXR is kinda agricultural, but you can bet it will still be going long after the Italian scrap has broken down.
lap times?
i love my 899. wouldnt trade it for any bike, just enough power and is pretty. gets pretty good gas mileage too.
Im sooo jealous i live right in la canada i ride the crest all the time if i ever see u guys im asking for an autograph!!! Another great episode i really like the filmer
GSXR for sure and left stock as well. Also Troy you're looking slick in that new jacket!
What's the Ducati 899 top speed
No, kawasaki defined the modern sportbike with the GPz900r that came in -84.

Nice review guys, however I would have liked to see dyno tests of all three as part of the review as well tacked on at the end maybe or were you trying to get us to go to the website???? ;-)
I liked the 'sound check' pulling off from the camera and through the tunnel. Nice touch! Many people also like their bikes to sound a certain way, so it was good to hear the contrast of the three.
lap times? (Plz).
I am not a GSXR fan and ride a S1000RR and a CBR600RR myself, but if you are serious about riding it seems like the gixxxer is still the real deal in the middle weight class.
where is the r6?
LiangHuBBB its not a super middleweight, its a middleweight
Smiling,my unriden op. Goes to the MV Agusta 800 F 3....Frontend style headlamp and the exhaust pipes .......sweet.
Troy siahaan, is he indo ?
I brought a bike that wasn't even featured in this video a 2013 675r and tbh id say it's every bit as good as any of these 3 here if not better with fully adjustable ohlins carbon here there everywhere quikshifter brembos front and rear abs and more 🏁🏁🏁🏁
all need a new exhaust system, the tunnel run at the end was pretty lame.
Is the ducati 899 good for 5 foot 3 teenager? Btw im 16 yrs old
No, start smaller cc like 250 learn the road
well always want to have one of those but here a ducati 899 cost me almost $50k insane right? due to tax shid etc.
But the soundtrack from that MV is just simply georgeous.
fyorbane Everyone keeps forgetting the Daytona 675R...it rivals the middleweights.
Suzuki for life me too!
750cc inline 4,800cc inline 3 & 899cc L-Twin cylinders..just great.
I have the 2015 MV Agusta F3 800 AGO and I love it
EASTCAMDEN4LIFE
Reliable?
LJ Balongue the performance is there is just not a good cruising bike for the city you can feel that it wants to be ridden hard. It's been two months with the bike and I'm still messing with the mapping settings. The throttle is real sensitive.
bike video without bike's sound? fail
Yamaha needs to bring back the R7!!!!
Panigale....enough said ;) Will trade my Monster in for a 899 in 2015! Can't wait!
Tunnel test at 9:39 nice!
How can an MV not have a steering damper?!
not putting up a link on-screen during review, and esp. at the end when you mention the scorecard, is a mistake I can't imagine an excuse for - and I'm great at dreaming up excuses for anything! WTF?! no more forced errors if you want to survive.
the GSXR sounded the best through the tunnel.
I'm such a fan of how the Ducati looks
To much talk about the track, Just pick the best looking one.
If you start singing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol when the video starts it's like a new age cover of the song
+Ciraxe Yeah, definitely agree with you.
Nice closing taking them all through the tunnel. I love doing that, not sure but the wife hates tunnels so much...
I'll take one of each!
Well I got a brand new Gixxer 750 in 2005 and it was $10,000.00, so 2 grand more, in ten years is very good. And I still have the bike!!!!
Here in italy I see many F3 and Brutale bikes, but...
Guess i'll go for a Triumph, I can't afford having 2 motorcycles
I miss Honda 750s
i picked 675 , very slim around traffic and filtering .......
Is it a good Bike? I got an Gsxr 600 and tought of buying the 675r
Snap bro I've just brought a 2013 675r awesome bike 🏁🏁
How on earth can you call 899 cc "middle class"??
One of my friends rides a 2001 Fireblade, and it has 929 cc.
Above 800cc is Superbike territory!
DolleHengst
Totally depends on cylinders...if a bike has 2 than an 899 is close to a 700-750 4 cylinder...same for 3 cylinder bikes...they are allowed to have more displacement to make up for the cylinder loss...This has been common in the cycle world for decades.
899cc is a middle weight now? Shit, Ducati should have added a half a liter to the Superbike 10 years ago.
That's what I was thinking, I still consider the 600s to be the middleweight class. These are like that odd step in between middleweights and superbikes imo
Sirref That's why they call them the "Super middleweight" class of bikes.
So the gixxer is a very competent tool... and I should have used that in my debate on another video while trying to describe my experience with the GIXXER 1000... it is so true they are just made to do the job with high standards without the show and glamour...
To nit pick, i dont like the red wheels and Dual swing arm the 899 has. Just seemed a bit rushed. The red is too dull. Ive seen a few in real life.
I would stay with Ducati
Why did u guys pick 899 instead of 848? 848 is kind of closer to 750 and 800 than 899.
ABS and TC just improve safety not reduce your ability to learn.
lol.... no.
DesoKPB You can turn off the electronics you know...
I wonder how much a 899 panigale superleggera weigh...
The MV wins the sound in the tunnel test.
Here in good old New Zealand the price ain't $2599 mate. I think you left out a zero.
So basically what I'm hearing is the suzuki is the only bike I would want out of these 3 because it is the only one without all the technological goodies
Where is the mighty r6 ??
It kills them all.
R6 kills a GSX-R 750? Absolutely not.
Don't be ridiculous.
fyorbane the word mighty and and R6 don't belong in the same sentence
ok yes.. not.
But still deserves a place there!
Chitransh Khanna hmm no its place is with the 600's this class is the one between 600's and 1000's
