I also caught this travelling bug 22yrs ago. My first adventure started when I was 20yrs old. I got a 3yrs working holiday visa to the USA in 2000, & I spent 3 wonderful years working and travelling the length & breadth of the 🇺🇸, met people from all walks of life & I made lifelong friendship & experienced different cultures & cuisines. In March of 2003 I came back home & in June I got a 2nd working holiday visa for Canada & I spent another beautiful 3 years enjoying & working in 🇨🇦. In 2006 March, I came back to 🇿🇦 & in May I went to the British embassy in Hatfield, Pretoria for my visa interview. A week later I got my 3rd working holiday visa to the UK & 16yrs later I'm still living in the 🇬🇧. Since then I've travelled to 35 countries most of them are in Europe. Just before the pandemic I went to Australia & New Zealand. Travelling also made me fall in love with photography and now wherever I go my 2 canon dslr cameras are always with me.

Travelling is so refreshing and also good for our mental health. I once did 4 countries in one day. I woke up in London, had breakfast in Paris, then had lunch in Copenhagen, and I finish off my journey with a dinner in Stockholm. The close proximity of countries in Europe made it possible for me to fly across different countries in one day.

The day I found Afrika,my whole perspective on traveling changed, I've been to no less than 7 trips with him, he is an amazing human being, so much respect and humility, he delivers on his promise and goes beyond, We are going to Bali soon, I honestly never thought I could be living this life but Afrika Mdolomba made it happen though the : # TravelwithAfrika curated trips 💃💃💃💃🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Lovely episode yet again. My biggest lesson with traveling, i’ve grown to appreciate home more. The struggles we experience in SA are in every other country, just at different intensities. I’ve also landed in some Asian countries and my first encounter with the locals would be a taxi driver sharing horrid or negative thoughts about their own country, leaving me low key panicked and second guessing my decision to visit haha. Luckily the worst experience was being scammed by some taxi drivers looking to make a quick buck from the foreigner lol. I’ve realized that as South Africans we tend to highlight the negative aspects of our country more than the good. We don’t give ourselves enough credit at times.

I always say if i were to move to Asia, I'd definitely go to Vietnam specifically Nha Trang (I love coastal cities). Vietnamese are very friendly, humble and welcoming people. I've experienced pockets of what I perceived to be racism in Munich, en-route Antwerp from Amsterdam as well as in Toronto.

I'm not him but I can share from my observations of the people I know who travel with families and also from my perspective as somebody who lives in a pretty peculiar scenario. I live between 2 countries and 3 cities and for me i let people interested in me know exactly what my lifestyle us like and where im typically located. We can decide if it makes sense for us to maintain a long term connection or not. I myself am not in the position of wanting a relationship however from the people I've dated, the variety have been people who inherently understand the fact we'll be apart and they have also been very busy people themselves. Engineers, people who work in the tech field, cheft etc. With the type of person i am I thrive with quality time but also love my own time alone and those job roles I mentioned are very demanding and pair very well with not only the type of life I prefer to live in terms of travelling because the time available for us to spend time together are limited anyways. And if the people love travelling too there's nothing stopping them from meeting half way. And I'm not sure if its the people im surrounded by but for example one of my closest friends are in school in another European country, spend summers in an African country but also have home bases in other countries within Europe. They have a partner currently and so does their sibling. Both sisters do not come from the same place as their partners but because travel is such a big part of their life they have acquires techniques to make it work. They plan it ahead of time much more meticulously than i ever plan anything but it's a responsibility you need to take on if you want to maintain relationships or form yhem nomatter the nature of those. In the meantime we live in a world where video chatting is available so it makes things a little easier. I also know of married couples who've done similar things whilst travelling and making money apart anf yhen later on moving in together but not necessarily immediately after marriage. Now one of the couples are having a baby. Im sorry this is a lot. I am only one person who knows but so many people in enough detail to be able to share. I'm sure many other people will have different experiences. What i want to reiterate is that different people have different requirements and expectations from a relationship. As long as trust itls there and the people are present. It can work. I understand this isn't easy nor does it work for everyone. I speak as a detached person comfortable with spending time alone. I understand other people struggle a bit more with that seperation anxiety and that is normal. Hope it helps with a different perspective 💫

I agree, hate to travel with people because I just like him, decide at the moment what to do or where to go. I back pack on my own, now with family or with my daughter, never traveled with friend. I don't want a person counting how much things while on holiday.
