At 5:56 it seems like the Tesla foresaw the accident that was about to happen in front of it. If the sound was NOT coincidental (for example due to another car coming close to Tesla), then this is quite amazing! As I understand it the system is sometimes able to detect the impending collision before it is evident/obvious to the human observers, based on the detected velocity, predicted direction, and so on.
It detects slowdown of the car in front that’s too subtle for human eyes.

It's hard to really know how many of these maneuvers were done by automated driving vs driver intervention. But yeah, Teslas are quite good at helping drivers avoid bad situations.
I thought the beeping sound was to alert the driver of an automated maneuver?
@@chrisez3188 It depends, you can change the level of intervention the car have with 3 levels. I put mine to "late" so it does not interfere too much.
Sometimes it makes that beeping noise and it does not brake for me if I am quick enough to brake before it's really dangerous say if I was distracted while following too close the car in front.
Other times I was close to a wall with very little space because of road work and it turned the steering for me while beeping. 6:18 The model 3 has it under control. 💯 Imagine if they were talking about autopilot and obstacle avoidance. 👀
As impressive as this is my golden rules are this to avoid accidents:
1. During the day. In the city limits go no faster than the speed limit and get over to the right most lane when safe. This unless you need to make a turn. Always signal prior to you turns and lane changes. Check all mirrors/ blind spots before proceeding. On highways go no faster than the speed limit and always get over to the far right when safe no matter your speed except when passing. Change one lane at a time.
2. At night go no faster than 5 under the speed limit and follow the rest of above. Use high beams when possible but turn them off before nearing on coming vehicles or approaching one in front of you.
3. Leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. No tailgating.
4. Always pay attention to what other drivers are doing. But make sure you also don't distract yourself from your driving. Do not play with your radio controls or phone while driving.
5. Do not automatically proceed through a green light, check all directions first to ensure no one is going to run a red light.
6. Never drive while unpaired by drugs and/or alcohol .
I’m a teen driver and these are the rules my dad taught me (almost to the letter too!). The only difference is, on the highway, he said the middle lane is the safest since the far right lane has people merging on/off. Curious what your thoughts are on middle vs right lane safety
@@lydian.2298 Well the middle lane in a three lane situation is typically a secondary passing lane so that is why I suggest getting over to the right lane even at night.
However, when I see a car attempting to merge from the onramp day or night I'll move into the nearest passing lane to let them on if it's safe to do so. Otherwise I'll slow down or speed up temporarily to let them on.
Technically the safest thing to do is get into a passing lane to let them on even though they are the ones who are supposed to yield but most never do.
If the middle lane isn't being enforced as a passing lane I see no problem using it at night though almost exclusively as if it were another right lane. Except of course when someone wants to go faster than you and can't get over left because someone is hogging the lane and not moving over. In which case you would move to the right lane to let them pass.
@@TheMiddleGroundWithBen that’s good advice! I’ll implement that when I’m on the highway- Thank you :)
Or....you could just buy a Tesla and relax and enjoy the ride.
A couple of rules that I would add. Be very cautious and go slowly in parking lots. As a former Claims Adjuster I speak from experience that a high volume of accidents happen in parking lots. During certain circumstances I don't allow any distractions (including music playing on the radio). These situations include: driving in parking lots, driving in poorly lit areas or inclement weather, driving in unfamiliar areas, driving in heavy traffic, and while merging onto highways.
And people wonder why I have anxiety while traveling by car. They say “oh are you bad at driving” no, everyone else is. Maybe I need a Tesla though.
Yeah most of the dodged collisions where because of plain moronic drivers
Well actually having anxiety while driving makes you a bad driver too, you can't make the right decisions if you're anxious

So..when those cars tried to hit the Tesla on the side..are you saying the Tesla got out of the way WITHOUT driver input?
@@Nightbird. yes that was happening the whole time in the video... it’s a auto pilot car
@@Nightbird. yes, the autopilot decides in milliseconds what’s best for the car, the driver and the other driver. If there’s enough space, it swerves hard to avoid a crash. And the force the autopilot turns the wheel with is enormous
@@KingCecilLion Wow..I am really impressed with this technology!
@@lownexury7431 That is amazing! Thank you so much for telling me this because I'm looking for a used luxury car for an elderly person with the best safety features and this Autopilot sounds perfect for them. I just looked at a 2018 Model S for sale. Is this a good year for a used one? Because I don't know how old you should buy them where they can still work well with the Autopilot and are mechanically reliable as well. Any advice is appreciated and thank you!
Holy shit these clips are all amazing but it's when the car sees and avoids that side impact after pulling away and the one where it sees something in the dark long before it becomes visible to see it yourself, this is truly amazing, all cars should be Teslas.
There were some videos of teslas saving the day, and then some videos of cars just cruising. It was a nice touch to include some videos that did not have anything visible to do with the title of the video.
With emotions running high...and having witnessed someone get potentially serious injuries..... I head on to work.
Right? 🤣

This is incredible and should be shown to more people - the benefits (in my ‘future looking’ eyes) outweigh the risk it currently poses.
Everyone: thanks Elon.
The engineers who made the car: *sad engineer noise*
@LawAbidingCitizen are they making their works worth? I doubt it.
@LawAbidingCitizen “Engineer salaries at Tesla can range from $63,140 - $148,772. This estimate is based upon 29 Tesla Engineer salary report(s) provided by employees or estimated based upon statistical methods.”
149k a year for the top earning engineer and the most expensive is around 124k.... idk of that’s fair considering Elon is a billionaire because of these engineers.

2:30 stands out the most to me because its a car suddenly about to ram you from behind while you're getting on an off ramp, not a situation you are usually prepared to floor it and swerve around the car in front especially because you'd be worried about possible cars in the lane beside you
Agree, especially if you listen to how early the woman in the car asks the guy in front whether it's him doing the breaking. The guy is like: "No, why would I be breaking?..."
Yes
