Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. Voice over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

I got an email from Isaiah, the submitter of Video #11:
I think it may be important to update the comment section/community that my girlfriend had a previous neck injury in a car accident. Without this context, much of the comment section believes that my girlfriend was lying about her neck pain for insurance fraud money. All we asked from the driver at fault's insurance was to pay for the repairs of my Model 3.
I can without a doubt confirm we spent hours at the nearest Kaiser emergency room. (I had to wait 6+hours in the parking lot due to covid protocols). I was excited to show my gf the video but with so much negativity in the comment section, it genuinely hurts to see.

Thanks Isaiah,
I hope your girlfriend is feeling better. And to everyone else, please be kind to each other - and especially to the submitters, they are the ones who makes the Teslacam Stories happen.

i. Remember young Padawan learner. When can the vehicle in front of you slam on it's brakes 100%.... The answer is: AT ANY TIME AT ALL. Always assume the moment you look away the cars in front might slam on their brakes so if you have to look at something you need to back off.
ii. A car closer to you can completely obscure an equal sized vehicle or even bigger farther away. Once in a blue moon you will look at a two or more lane road and see a single vehicle and think okay I have space and time to cross the street before he gets here but as you start rolling or walking you see oh there was a second vehicle obscured by him... So don't be in a hurry to the grave.. It has patience and will wait.
iii. As in ii. sometimes a rig/truck whatever it's called is pulling two boxes not one. It is easy to look back and not see there is a second box behind the first. It is easy to see the first box pass you and not see the low to the freeway tow bar so be careful not to pull into the second box. Numerous times I've noticed I don't see the second box until most of the first has passed.
iv. Whenever something wonky is happening up a head tripple or more how much space you have between cars in front.
v. Sometimes if you have a moronic passenger who is distracting you and you can't drive safe with their stupidity you may have to dump them out.

Good to know Tesla safety systems work well in so many situations. Drivers themselves should always be the main agent of safety during a drive, but the assistance is sure nice.
Problem is the more automated it gets the less we pay attention.
Yeah, those red light runner accidents are usually spottable if you look. I know you or I have the right of way, but don't let someone else put you in the hospital with a broken neck for not taking a look to make sure traffic is stopping, or where upcoming cars that need to stop (but are still moving at high speed) on big or empty intersections are currently located.

I love the tech behind Teslas and believe it will do well in the future. The concerns I have it will make lots of people lazy and not appreciate driving..
But if it saves lives, and gives people more free time in a busy world, it’s a win
To some extent that's the intention, though, right? Far too many people (quite possible a majority of drivers) aren't driving because they in any way appreciate it, but because they have to, in order to just get from point A to point B. I'd wager that those people in particular are the ones who pose the greatest risk to other drivers (especially motorcylists), to bicyclists, and to pedestrians, because those are the people (IMO) who are the irresponsible, dangerous turds who tend to text on their phones, or get distracted in various other ways, while driving.

I appreciate that you show the good outcomes and the bad. This helps dispel the belief autopilot can drive completely by itself. It's still a valuable feature.
Who says auto pilot can drive by itself? You mean self driving mode which isn't perfect either and still is in beta.
Uneducated people only hear about the accidents caused by autonomous driving in the news but have no idea how many lives it saves. There will always be drunk drivers and drivers falling asleep. Put autopilot on these folks will save millions of other peoples lives.
Auto Pilot is NOT the Full Self Driving. There's a difference.
@Grant ingelbret,
Tesla markets three features -
1) Normal Cruise Control
2) Enhanced Auto Pilot (EAP) where onboard computer has the capability to brake and accelerate the vehicle in addition to maintaining cruise control.
3) Of course, the FSD which in addition to EAP, has the capability to navigate the vehicle, follow traffic control devices.
Whether feature #1 & #2 are copout or not, that consumers can always vote with their wallet.
AutoPilot isn't presented as being FSD, of course. Tesla's enhanced autopilot is *great* to use, especially in commuter traffic, but it's still the driver's responsibility to pay attention to what the car is doing, and correct anything it may make an incorrect choice on. Even responsibly doing that, while letting the car deal with the drudgery of a commute is (as you note) hugely valuable.
FSD is currently still in Beta, and you still have to literally let the car anyalyze your driving for awhile before it will even enable it. Watching current FSD-Beta videos are quite impressive. But even with that, the driver is supposed to monitor what the car is doing, and take over if it makes an incorrect decision.
Tesla's aren't ready to completely drive themselves yet, but we long ago passed the point where many people shouldn't even be allowed to drive at all. When did we stop re-testing to maintain one's license, and why? At this point in time, regular re-testing for a license should include in-car camera footage of X-amount of time (say, 30 days of actual driving?) of how someone drives, for every drive that occurs in that time frame.
So many of these accidents and near misses could also be avoided by more attentive drivers, not just the safety systems. I would love to see a kind of driver attention camera view for all of these clips 🧐
I very much enjoy being the monitor for the decisions my Tesla makes, but I totally agree with your driver-attention thought.
If anything the cam incorporated is a must have for all new vehicles, apart from that the technology isnt safe enough yet to allow autopilot but these many footages show lots of hope for safer driving in the future, either having autopilot on or not
Safer than macho man swilling a beer.
With the number of times I've heard "they give the police the footage but haven't heard anything back" I don't blame him for continuing to follow in the last video.
A lot of naive people still believe police are what police are traditionally supposed to be. The unfortunate reality is now-a-days the police are nothing more than the personal mercenaries for corrupt/criminal politicians. Only the worst of the worst even sign up for the job, unless you want to become a career criminal you don't become a police officer in the USA anymore.
I fear in the near future police will be a leading force in the "democrat's" mass genocide against anyone that see's them for the real life supervillains they truly are... Notice their genocidal rhetoric, they have changed the word "white supremesist" to mean literally anyone that see's them for the international criminals and scam artists they really are.
We live in dark days where just saying the truth out loud is called "hate speech" and "extremism". So called "democrats" in America today will forever be remembered alongside the most evil villains in the history of humanity. They are the enemy from within our forefathers so clearly warned us of and from now on they will be treated as such...
It's kinda childish. Everyone does mistakes. Imagine getting followed for every jaywalk and minor "rule break"
I am glad that the police doesn't care about this stuff. It's much different if they are showing signs of alcohol or drugs

Come on, we need more room on the shoulder so these accidents can park and we can go around. We used to have clear zone up to 30' and the left lane should be as wide as the drive lane. California has overpass cement rails 1' from the drive lane.
@@timsteinkamp2245 who’s gonna fund that after everything has been built?
@@proto12qs I might have said the same thing as you until I had my first accident after 40 years of driving. Don't give up because I didn't. The money will have to come from the big pot of taxes they take from us. I researched the road design manual after my wreck. When I first started driving was when rumble strips came out and they studied them for 35 years. The place of my accident on the interstate had no rumble strips. It is the least cost improvement that saves lives on our highways. Per many many studies done by universities across the land along with the 50 highway departments set up for our safety They gave them a 16% reduction just in fatalities. Read the "Green Book" of road design. Look at the recommended design and the allowed design. The road designers were taught by our people when we built the Universities. The American people gave massive amounts of money to these people to teach our children to build safe roads and the best value. It is up to us.
You say excellent recover from the Jersey barriers and it looks good but Jersey barriers are proven to be unsafe and only used because the people will not spend money on a wider right of way. Look at an accident with Jersey barriers on both sides and then a vehicle catches fire and people just keep ramming into the the bunch because there is no where to go. It is a death trap. The people choose instead to install hospital trauma centers along our freeways as part of the answer for safety on our roads.
The funding after it has been built will be ours and that of our children because after 50 years these roads are not going anywhere. In the future consider the concept of "clear zone" and maybe allow the crosses of death to remain on the highways, at least we can see the dangerous sections.

Now include every animal that could enter the highway, now include every object... The possible scenarios are almost unlimited.
Computing power for automous vehicles is similar to predicting weather and those who live in areas the weather changes know how that is working out...
Just occurred to me, deer are autonomous 🤔
I reject this determinism about the inevitability of 100% autonomous vehicles.
I can see it now - governments mandatimg waaaaay before electric autonomous cars become affordable to 99% of people who currently own cars.
It's a recipe for a massive split in society - those wealthy enough to own their own transportation and those who aren't. The secondhand market for electric autonomous vehicles won't be nearly as accessible to the every man and woman as traditional cars are.
But that doesn't seem to come up in these discussions. Denying the masses the right to own their own cars is practically treated like it's a good thing, and I find that fucked up and elitist.
So much subsidies and government money has been poured into this tech, it's clear that there's a faction of the rich and powerful who want to accelerate a phenomenon that isn't organically happening in the consumer marker.
@@murrothbro195 I understand your argument but although car ownership may drop I forsee the number of vehicles increasing significantly. That chicken head didn't have no whiplash 🤣🤣
I wouldn’t use autopilot on a busy ass freeway especially during rush hours
You would probably feel differently if you used autopilot. It works very well in that situation because it takes care of the basics like maintaining a set distance and lane centering. That allows the driver to focus more on everything else instead of just staring at lines and the bumper in front of them constantly. That means the driver can focus more attention on what is going on a few cars ahead, the car to their left that is driving erratically, etc which gives them a better chance of avoiding an accident. You can just override whatever Autopilot is doing at any moment so it doesn't really matter if autopilot is driving. In other words, autopilot isn't just for letting the driver chill. It can also assist the driver so they can be MORE focused on traffic around them. It all depends on how you use it in a given situation.

@@jeremygoss619 Long before I owned my Tesla, probably 10 years ago, I started noticing the trends while driving around. You'd see a car doing strange things, and assume they were drunk. Get closer, and realize they were VERY concentrated on their little screen, with little regards to their surroundings. All this, while travelling at 50+ mph. Today, I regularly see professional truck drivers doing the same (with MUCH higher stakes), even the driver of a tanker truck in the last week or so. I use my FSD as a means of reducing fatigue, not as a substitute for paying attention, and when I see comments that imply that inattention is a Tesla problem, I get a little irritated ;)
We need to have our police pay much less attention to speeders, and MUCH more to those driving without paying attention, as the latter are probably WAY more likely to produce an accident (whether they are Tesla drivers or not). The problem with driver assistance features (Tesla, and all the others) is that they are built assuming the people will be reasonably responsible. Unfortunately, as a species, we seem to be "all stocked up" on idiots ... and "Common Sense" is apparently not so common ;)
If you see your colleagues driving down the freeway doing this, maybe a short reminder on the CB can nudge them?
Emergency breaking after being rear ended is amazing
Great video, myself I’m old school and was taught to be in control of my vehicle at all times, I’m a control freak when it comes to driving, I can’t handle someone else driving me, but I’ve never ever been in one accident, and I can’t still believe it because I’ve lived in crazy Dallas Texas and that’s no joke, when driving, but I might get one when I turn 60 in November, maybe I can not be so controlling, I love that roadster!
Heh... Even older, and I love driving too (especially a stick), but I bought mine three years ago... Honestly think it's the best money I ever spent. Even just letting it handle stop-n-go commuter traffic (while responsibly monitoring what it's doing) is priceless.
@@patricksweeney6334 enjoy your new toy, I love stick shift, I had a Jeep and loved it, I had a thunderbird turbo stick, dangerous, I had to sell it.
@@Django2424 Prior to the Tesla, I'd only ever (reluctantly) purchased on automatic for myself... a 2001 Saab 9-5. My timing need was the only reason I didn't look around long enough to find a manual. However, my mechanic found me one within about a year and I traded up, so to speak. If I hadn't decided to give up gas-burners and go electric, I'd still be driving Saab manuals.
@@patricksweeney6334 nice, I live in a very cold climate and electric ⚡️ cars don’t seem to work well here.
Whiplash and and hospital from a tap like that 😂 I guess after my back surgery I should probably hit up the emergency room every time I hit a speed hump.
Liked because we already know that it’s going to be a banger 🔥

Hi @Wham Baam Teslacam your videos are amazing great entertainment for me and interesting to know some facts about Tesla they are amazing cars I’m not Tesla owner yet hopefully I’ll be 1 soon I love the model 3 and Y
There is so much hate around the very very few accidents of autopilot, where it’s already 100 times safer then humans. This shows how good the system really is.
Typical. People want everything perfect when they are not even close to it. It is clearly way better than humans and nobody said anything about 100% accident prevention. It is just a nice bonus.
1:30 “Freeway Service Patrol” ???? 😂😂😂
Anything dangerous: happens near a Tesla
Autopilot system: "I sense no danger here."
Just by looking at the thumbnail i can tell this is going to be a good one

A friend of mine picked me up to show off his Tesla. He got on the freeway and when he took his hands off the wheel, I told him don’t play around, and just that quick he looked over at me laughing and we were in an accident. Never put that type of trust in something made by imperfect people. Keep your damn hands on the wheel.
Precily, as the driver, you are meant to be in control of your vehicle at ALL times, which means at least one hand on the wheel at any given time, and when it comes to you having an accident, you will be the blame for not being in control of your vehicle because you would be using these stupid innovations they apparently call them.
Yep, it's a driver assist system, not an auto-pilot. Even this video not pointing that out is a problem. There is no auto-pilot for cars at this point in time.
@@MJBclassics why is he a liar?
@@MJBclassics man, shut up. You just roam around the social media and when someone shares an experience, they need to prove it to you?..A woman recently shared a story about her child dying in an car accident. Are you gonna pop in calling her liar, and say, “I need facts? Post a video”… Do you have a vid for every experience in your life? Millions of people share experiences everyday related to vids, you sound ridiculous.
@@MJBclassics do you provide proof whenever you share an experience?
The owner called his insurance company after the accident. The deer called his lawyers.

9:04 that cyclist looks like intentionally swerved in front of the car, as the parked car is still a distance away from the cyclist
Agreed, it was totally intentional. Hm... now that I'm typing this, another option is he didn't hear the tesla behind him since those things are very silent I reckon? so he thought he was on the clear and didn't see the car until he merged and realized the car was there so swerved back maybe?
Amazing. Remember to look both ways (left, right, left) no matter if the lights green.
I was driving my VW Passat last evening. I had my hands lightly on the steering wheel and may have been slightly speeding. 3 deer were on the road ahead of my car, and I activated my muscle memory experience and avoided the deer all together.
8:19 the crash doesnt look hard on video but was hard enough to get whiplash
Sounds like a liar looking for lawsuit money or a hypochondriac. Definitely not enough force to cause whiplash.
Well they were going on a weekend retreat. Maybe she wanted an excuse not to go lol
Could have been worse
@@warehousedave7937 shut up bro look at top comment
yeah, total scammer
I think the autopilot have the ability to make decisions
Probably the best safety feature of the tesla is the low center of gravity. Makes swerving a lot safer than many other vehicles.
1:30 in the the trailer is my favorite 🤩

For video 8, it had nothing to do with how fast the truck was trying to merge with the trailer. The problem was that they didn't have the trailer loaded correctly. There wasn't enough forward weight in the trailer, causing it to oscillate left/right until it spun the truck out of control. If the weight/balance point was closer to the hitch, it wouldn't have done that
at least someone understands
The second one was the girls fault who was trying to walk through oncoming traffic. What a dope
I love how when the truck jack knifed in Tacoma Washington and it was a Tacoma 😂
In clip number 5 when the owner shows pictures of the damage, you may wonder what that big brown skid mark across the drivers door is, that’s deer shit my friend, pure deer shit

I’ll give my story, when we used auto puppet for the first time, it changed lanes to exit, but sped up for no reason all the way to 70. That’s when we took control and never used to for the rest of the trip
