Every time I pass a 18 wheel truck I do it as quickly as possible in case he loses a tire or makes a lane change. They have blind spots all around the truck where they can’t see you and lots of times people part themselves right in that Blind spot for miles.
@@mimcduffee86 Uh, as a trucker myself. Even with all our mirrors we still have very large blind spots. Please don’t get yourself hurt thinking truckers have no blind spots. Also, three lane roads through a city, the middle lane is the safest lane of travel for us. With all the vehicles entering and exiting the interstate it helps ease the flow of traffic and prevents us from sudden stops.
@@DivineTech arent trucks supposed to stick to one side of the road? I have no clue if that's a thing in the Freedom States 🇺🇲 but here in India its a law in most states that heavy vehicles must drive in the left lane
@@SmitePlayz1 in some states yes, but not all of them. Arizona for example has a regulation that when on highways use the outside lane for primary travel and the inside lane for passing slower traffic.
Love the way you have made pretty much a whole video of Tesla drivers not paying much attention who then sent in the video of them not paying much attention. Seriously this video has made my day.
I liked number 19, a Honda stopped to quickly for auto pilot to respond. In other words the Tesla driver was driving to close to the car in front and ran in to the back of it. Lucky there wasn't anything in the lane to the right or the Tesla driver would have hit two cars.
Tesla drivers are typically rich privileged drivers. My uncle has a $120,000 model S and the way he drives and cuts off people is ridiculous. And he just laughs and jokes about it. “Get outta the way I got a Tesla! Ahaha” Ultimately, it isn’t the vehicle. It is that the owners are more rich than the rest of us.
For those wondering, never pass a semi on the right side. If you can always pass on the left. The trailer mirrors still dont provide much vision and the entire right side is a HUGE blindspot for the truck driver.
@@bbeth4 it's not illegal, but most companies have policies to limit it. The only time it's illegal if there is specific signage stating trucks use so and so lane.
I’ve noticed that. Truck drivers definitely get more ancy when I’m there, and when they don’t know I’m there they like, press completely against the right side and almost hit me.
9:08 "This intersection has a rather long yellow light so Jalon says he knew he had time to make it." The light was red before he entered the intersection and he even sped up. The fact that anyone ruled this his right of way leads me to believe he didn't show the video to authorities or insurance and lied to police. I feel sorry for the Chevy driver cause now his insurance is fucked due to Jalon's recklessness and lies.
When you’re turning, you’re pretty much always at fault, it was pretty close whether he made that light or not, because you can see the stop line is pretty far back, that acceleration was a very bad call though instead of just stoppig
I think Jayson at 9:28 was very lucky to be found to have the right of way. Not sure of the laws in the US, but here in the UK amber light means STOP at the line, or only cross if to stop suddenly would cause an accident i.e. from behind, not those wishing to cross traffic.
Same in the US. I'm pretty sure the guy didn't share the footage with the cops, or else he would've been determined to be at fault. At least partially. He even sped up as the light turned yellow.
Most states in the US have "permissive yellows" so if you enter the intersection going straight on a yellow, you have the right-of-way. The Tesla should/could have stopped but was technically over the line before the red. The other car should have waited and seen that the Tesla was not slowing down.
How much influence does the Police report have on the decision made by insurers in the US? Unless it is a serious accident, they may have just taken a few witness statements and made a roadside judgment of fault. Insurers may have the benefit of time and possibly other dashcam footage not available to the police at the time. So can they overrule, after all it’s their money that is footing the repair bills?
In Canada too it would be a crime. A vehicle can be considered as a weapon. It sound stupid as; someone attack you with a baseball bat and, if you're not injured, police will not come...
Yup. Might be a "long yellow" but he had plenty of time to stop and did in fact run that red. No way would I think someone would try to run a yellow from that far back.
Yea the cammer is definitely at fault, Technically ran a red. He intentionally sped up and caused a bigger accident. Could have been avoided if jalon didn't keep going.
I don't know the law where Jalon lives, but where I am, it's that if the lights go from green to yellow you stop unless it is unsafe to do so. There was clearly plenty of time to stop. That doesn't absolve the other driver of responsibility, but everybody has a duty to avoid dangerous situations, and going through yellow lights does not help. As it is, the light turned red as he crossed the line, and that is irresponsible driving.
Idk the laws in all states, but it's crazy it seems to mean "Proceed with caution" many places, when in Europe, yellow means "Stop if safe to do so". The moment the light turns red the intersection should be entirely empty. Many lights in America has very very long yellow and red lights, and people run it multiple seconds after, it's crazy. The mentality of "Knew he had time to make it" is so stupid. Jalon should have stopped like half a mile before. Like the black car in the right lane is probably just about the cutoff of where you should have stopped instead of kept going. I would 100% have blamed Jalon for that crash to be honest. You even see him floor it when he sees the yellow light, and still manage to run a complete red light. Very stupid driving, could have killed someone.
Where I live (Orlando, Florida USA). As long as you have entered the intersection (crossed the solid white line) before it turns red you are legal. That guy definitely abused the intent of the law as he sped up to make it. Though what he did was technically legal.
True, but why is the truck changing lanes? German law limits trucks on the autobahn to 80kph (50mph) and they must stay in the right lane. There seems to be no reason for the truck to change lanes.
@@michaelmclachlan1650 It's quite normal for trucks to go into the middle lane when there is an on-ramp, so cars can merge easier onto the Autobahn. You can even see a car approaching from the right. Also, trucks are allowed to pass other vehicles and therefore are allowed to use the middle or left lane (not very common though) for passing, except there is an explicit restriction for overtaking or the pass takes longer than 45 seconds
@@yourDecisi0n Thank you, Jens also. It would appear I've miscronstrued the information I had, it was from many, many years ago. I don't recall ever seeing a truck change lanes on the autobahn and I've taken didn't as couldn't.
I don't drive a Tesla but like watching these videos because the cameras catch all the details. I'm impressed with how sturdy they are, how they never seem to flip, and they keep the occupants safe. I've noticed that Teslas hydroplane during heavy rain and that they often times are totaled. I assume the parts are so expensive, so it doesn't take much to be considered totaled. I wonder why they hydroplane so often. Whenever it rains heavy where I live, there is this section where the interstate changes into three heavily trafficked interstates and there are always crashed right there in the rain. Last two times it rained, I witnessed a Tesla spin out and crash into another car and hit the Jersey wall at high speeds. I assumed he was driving too fast, but maybe he wasn't. The other time, I saw a Tesla that had just recently crashed right before I passed, but it hydroplaned and hit the same Jersey wall head on and no other cars were involved. These are just two random incidents out of many that happens there when it rains. I've seen cars of all types crashed there during rain. It's probably because there is a dip from one of the interstates where it goes up into an overpass. Water probably accumulates there causing these wrecks.
I think the problem might in tires. I don't know what sort of tires are installed by default on Teslas, but hydroplaning means that wheels can't "dig out" all the water under them. Either the tire protector isn't good enough for rain conditions or people just drive too fast and aggressively.
@@ReasonX3 Teslas' are heavier than other vehicles because of battery weight and the vehicles skeleton (which is cast or poured). It still doesn't explain why it will hydroplane like that.
All these videos were awesome. Yet, all I can think about is how many Tesla drivers aren’t paying attention while driving with Self-Driving, which causes most of these accidents.
Autopilot != Full Self Driving. The Full Self-Driving software actually watches you with the camera. If you stop paying attention it will start beeping at you. AutoPilot does not.
that's because he's idiots running on autopilot think autopilot mean it can do everything for you and they can do whatever they want unfortunately auto pilot doesn't work the way they think it does this is why some countries have it ban like Canada they banned autopilot because it caused more accidents because people are distracted while driving
@@cliffordstokes595 that’s why it shouldn’t be named autopilot right now. It’s not even close to be a full self driving mode but the idjits with it think they don’t have to pay attention at all.
Fully, ten of these drivers could have avoided their accidents by being more alert and not driving next to a semi. The others just had to be along for the ride at the mercy of another driver that should have been paying attention. And Jalon... the light turns yellow, get ready to stop... you were way late on that light.
@@aminfozdar that's right. Altough if I am at the right side of a semi, I always try to get out of there as fast as possible because you never know if the driver has adjusted their mirrors correctly. I also hate the long trucks in the US for blindspot reasons. With the Cab-over-engine-models that are much, much more popular here in Europe, this accident would most likely not have happened because where the Tesla was hat the time of impact those models don't have a blind spot.
#14 the truck driver be at fault for lying & etc to try scam the Tesla driver cuz that what it sound like but that driver didnt know Tesla has a camera on board
in the UK the dispacher sends out cops and ambulance even if its a small accident to make sure everyones ok and in america half the cars gone and there saying no ones hurt and its only a hit and run u dont need anyone like really?😂😂
17:37 How fast was he going in the rain? 16k miles on tire doesn't mean anything, low thread depth 4/32 (doesn't need to be bald) will cause higher chance of hydroplaning.
# 13 Jaylon was clearly at fault! Yellow means prepare to stop! Video clearly shows he switched lanes and sped up but light turned red as he got to the stop line. Feel sorry for the person in the Chevy who I hope is ok.
@@liampetty2978 I think you chose the wrong clip, in clip 11 there was no truck, also everyone makes mistakes, and of course if you are watching a video with only Tesla's then there will be tesla drivers making mistakes, just because you see a few tesla drivers make poor choices in a situation where you are almost garenteed to witness tesla drivers making poor decisions, does not mean that all tesla drivers are bad drivers, of course there are some tesla drivers that are bad, but making a single mistake or poor choice does not make you a bad driver, it is normal for humans to make mistakes, even the best doctors in the world have made mistakes, does this make them a bad doctor? No. Also, when you are in a Tesla you have a feeling of safety, because you know that you can trust it to keep you safe, so it's understandable when drivers don't expect the car not to do it's proper job.
@@JoseFloresEC Exactly, I have a CDL (School bus driver) so I'm well aware of it being illegal to run a yellow, but sometimes heavy vehicles, like my bus, can't stop in time safely, hence why I said only run it if you can't stop in time for it.

Right off the bat, on the first video, that is one of my biggest pet peeves, people riding in either your blind spots for a long time or right beside you in light traffic. Those two scenarios are recipes for disasters.
Let me play devils advocate here. Except there is no such thing as a blind spot on the average car. Tractor trailers are the only vehicle on the road that could even be considered to have them and even then it’s no excuse. We have technology called cameras that could be placed at these few areas to prevent this. The fact we have done this makes no since. It would be cheap with todays cameras and could prevent almost all blind spot accidents. I’m sure as a trucker these too things you said suck and are annoying and aggravating.

I love how Tesla has fully integrated cameras on its all, a no-brainer for all car manufacturers imo. Other than that, I find it very odd of that lost-control in heavy rain conditions, too much torque from the electric motor?
You would think that Tesla's being heavier than most other vehicles would help it not to hydroplane, but you're on to something with the strong torque from the motor, and also the regen braking.
Yeah this definitely should have been the tesla drivers fault at least 80%, plenty of time to react, unsafe driving for the conditions, clearly wasnt paying attention.
9:03 Yellow doesnt mean drive. It means STOP if youre able to stop without making a emergency stop. This person had alot of time to stop. Its the tesla drivers fault. atleast it would be in Denmark

4 months for accident repairs is obscene and completely unacceptable. Tesla needs to significantly improve its customer service. This would be a complete dealbreaker for me.
I’m going on month five on waiting for parts for my Chevy with still no estimated delivery date in sight. Thankfully they don’t effect my ability to safely drive, but still. It’s not just Tesla with issues supplying parts or even whole vehicles.
@@laurakate84 It has been quite a while since I last had an accident, but in all cases I was involved in one my car got repaired in 3 or 4 days. That included "waiting for parts".
@@laurakate84 Not going to call BS on your story because I don't know what parts you are waiting for, but my Chevy has been hit twice and repairs, with repaint took less than 2 weeks. Sorting out payment and paperwork with the insurance company took far longer than the repairs themselves. I also owned other brands, and I've never had to wait for parts for more than a few days. But I do hear Tesla owners constantly complaining about waiting months and months for even the simplest repairs. It's a constant given with Tesla and an outlier/rarity with other companies. Not to mention a repair estimate of over $20,000 for what looks like a destroyed rear bumper and some underlying bumper structure seems obscene. It's almost like they're designed to be disposable after even the smallest accident.
@@ganymede3141 Have any of your repairs been within the last year and a half? Prior to mid 2020 I had the same kind of experience as you stated. Now there is a backlog of everything. Parts and vehicles. One part is the reservoir for wiper fluid and the others are cosmetic parts for the interior. Nothing vital thank God, but still. Much different from any other experience prior to 2020. A lot of cars of all makes are being totalled now for seemingly minor things. A big part of that is even salvage prices are through the roof. So insurance companies will pay less to call a car a complete loss and sell it for parts than to repair it. That is more true when you factor in potentially having to pay the inflated rental car rates for an extended amount of time. All cars are effected right now. But most people don’t really realise it unless they have the misfortune of having to deal with it first hand. All electric cars are literally built different than traditional ICE cars. So the same accident on the same part of the cars will result in different damage severities under what we can see. Insurance companies are hesitant to authorise repairing batteries for one things. So one potentially damaged cell will call for a whole new battery. That’s just one example. There are also far fewer body shops that meet the standard requirements for authorised repairs. So you have the compounded issue of few parts and fewer people who can repair them. The people who can repair them also charge more. And rightfully so because honestly it does require a whole different type of skill set than traditional body shops. Teslas weren’t on most people’s radar until the last few years. Just in time for all parts of the economy to go crazy. Including cars. So a “normal” experience hasn’t been possible for many of the people complaining.
People used to know how to drive cars. The problem with autopilot imo is that people don’t need to know how to drive. Pretty soon everyone on the road won’t have a clue as to how to save the car if it loses traction. 17:00 is a perfect example.
The problem with autopilot that it shouldn't be called "autopilot" in the first place. Tesla basically tests alpha versions of their driver assistant on their own customers.
Ad the other commenter has explained, the problem is that this isn't true autopilot. Also, in order to have a perfect autopilot utopia, you need that every single car has an autopilot too.
They are more accidents caused by humans than by the Tesla technology, what if people in Some American states learn how to drive before going out to the roads and risk other lives, you are focusing on the wrong issue.
@9:21 in many places even in the USA not stopping for an amber light is considered running a red especially if you have sufficient time to stop safely and even more imperatively if the intersection is not empty. A vehicle already attempting to turn that is clearly in the intersection has the right of way if you should be stopping.
@@drumman22 I would double and triple check that before claiming it as gospel. Warning Just because you cannot find a rule or law in one section where you expect to find it doesn’t mean it’s not in another section. The rule against not entering a congested intersection is fairly universal as most places with actual traffic laws don’t want morons parking in intersections through light changes blocking traffic. The rule about having to stop for an Amber light is also fairly common and is probably there even if not enforced.
A vehicle making a left turn must yield to all oncoming traffic. The law is CVC 21801 here. Other traffic must be stopped by lights or signals for the left turn maker to have right of way. The left turning car did not have right of way. Being in the intersection making an illegal turn does not magically give him right of way. Fun fact: because you can be greatly delayed waiting to make a left turn in a legal manner, UPS actually builds their delivery routes to avoid left turns. That said, speeding to make a yellow or entering an intersection on red are also violations. Both drivers drove badly, that was not an accident, it was an avoidable collision.
@@SJ-zs2ge Fun Fact road rules you think may be written in stone to say one thing often have a modifying clause or another separate rule that overrides it. Even if you have the right of way if an intersection is occupied even by illegal traffic you can be issued a citation for entering it . I have beaten a few citations because of rules that allow you to do things cops try to book you for because they often don't know all the rules.

Frantically turning the entire steering wheel is one of the causes for accidents, no need to yank it that hard, gotta stay calm in these situations
@@Bruno0310 Ive done it before in a Tacoma going 65MPH (The speed limit). Some asshole driving a van decided to skip traffic and merged into the exit lane where I was WITHOUT CHECKING TRAFFIC. I slammed on my brakes and holded on to my steering wheel to avoid what happened at 10:11. Sometimes you have to slam the brakes. The key is to not let the steering wheel move at ALL. I could feel the steering wheel wanted to move but I held on to it for dear life. Was about a foot or 2 from rear ending him. Heard the tires screeching like hell.

Agreed 100%. Clear indication from the HGV and probably room for Marcel to move into outside lane without causing an accident. Very poor anticipation from the Tesla driver
Yielding doesnt give u the right of why. The truck driver is at fault because he has to make sure that a lane switch is possible without hindering or endangering somebody, including to force someone to break because of it. As soon as someone has to brake because of a lane switch, it is an illegal lane switch, at least in germany or rather in the european union. BUT you are right with the fact that marcel could have avoided the accident with paying enough attention. But that doenst change the question on guilt.
@@darksoundzz So with this point in mind, it’s down to a lack of due care and attention on behalf of both drivers. The HGV shouldn’t have pulled out until it was clear that there was ample space to do so, and Marcel was very late on anticipating the danger. Regardless of local laws, in the majority of situations, I’ve considered it as the person behind to be in the best position to ‘avoid’ the accident. They will generally have the best visibility, both front and behind, and either brake or manoeuvre to another lane. When I’m approaching a convoy of HGVs, I always try to move to the outside lane if the traffic permits, or reduce my speed a little if i can’t. I know it’s very easy in hindsight, but just that little extra caution and awareness could be the difference between a near miss or something far worse.
The Tesla "driver" Alan is a repeat offender. He had a near miss accident 4 months later in his new Tesla in Autopilot because he for some reason left taking manual action at the very last second. @@jadenbright3854 You ran a red light tho.
he was definitely in the intersection before the light was red. You just have to cross the white line before the light is red.
If you can get the full car over the line by the time it hits red, you're good. I'm shocked he was determined to have the right of way.
One of them 50/50s
How much influence does the Police report have on the decision made by insurers in the US? Unless it is a serious accident, they may have just taken a few witness statements and made a roadside judgment of fault. Insurers may have the benefit of time and possibly other dashcam footage not available to the police at the time. So can they overrule, after all it’s their money that is footing the repair bills?

That doesn't absolve the other driver of responsibility, but everybody has a duty to avoid dangerous situations, and going through yellow lights does not help. As it is, the light turned red as he crossed the line, and that is irresponsible driving.
I agree, but the car that hit him also went through a red light apparently
Idk the laws in all states, but it's crazy it seems to mean "Proceed with caution" many places, when in Europe, yellow means "Stop if safe to do so".
@@ReasonX3 could be. I wonder if there are after market parts for Teslas, like tires. Probably not though.

Nope, u are 100 % false. Yielding doesnt give u the right of way. The truck driver is at fault because he has to make sure that a lane switch is possible without hindering or endangering somebody, including to force someone to break because of it. As soon as someone has to brake because of a lane switch, it is an illegal lane switch, at least in germany or rather in the european union.

Jalon had plenty of time to stop for that light.
8:25 There's a hidden feature in Teslas: If you press AND HOLD the park button on the driving stalk, the Tesla will engage emergency brakes, no matter what speed you're going. My wife and I lost our MS to SUA, so when I bought the MX we tested that feature during the test drive (in a parking lot). It works!

Advice to people based on the first clip: Pass big vehicles quickly, and spend as little time as possible near them. I see drivers matching speed with semi trucks and staying beside them for miles. Personally, I try to limit my proximity to vehicles weighing 20 or more times mine. 10:20 So Marcel doesn't pay attention, is slow to react, and then can't make an avoidance maneuver without losing control of his car. OK. The only reason the decision went his way is because the truck driver used the turn signal *after* he had already begun the lane change, instead of well before.
Yup, the trailer truck signalled at least three seconds too late for a safe lane change.
11:28 Imagine if that snow was really packed into the corners of that road rail and pavement. He would’ve flew right off of that cliff. He would’ve cleared it, that is so dangerous
4:03 Keith needed to slow down when approaching the intersection. His view was not clear when the lights turned from red to green. I wonder if they charged the truck driver with an illegal lane change. German law limits trucks on the autobahn to 80kph (50mph) and they must stay in the right lane. There seems to be no reason for the truck to change lanes.

In Germany, a hazard warning light is always switched on when there is a traffic jam
Warm greetings from Germany
thats how it should be - everyone turns on their hazard lights when they dip below the speed minimum
@9:21 in many places even in the USA not stopping for an amber light is considered running a red especially if you have sufficient time to stop safely and even more imperatively if the intersection is not empty. A vehicle already attempting to turn that is clearly in the intersection has the right of way if you should be stopping.
The vehicle turning would have had a red until the tesla’s light had turned red itself. Or after the cross had completed theirs.
not in my state, and likely not in theirs
@@drumman22 I would double and triple check that before claiming it as gospel.
Warning
Just because you cannot find a rule or law in one section where you expect to find it doesn’t mean it’s not in another section.
That and probably rules against running amber lights might be found if you keep looking.
I have beaten a few citations because of rules that allow you to do things cops try to book you for because they often don't know all the rules.
