At 6.12 Heir I did clicked behind the aligner unit when charging with cab, it makes it that the skirmishing mode doesn’t trigger. It’s a good way to catch Jav cav aswell.
Sol invictus is a great player, although i always know who is going to win before the battle even starts because he only ever seems to send battles in which he wins. Im sure that is always the case of every video he has sent, pretty sure i have seen him lose but very rare
I have a fair amount of defeat on my channel though they are mainly live record, I don’t tend to save defeat replays, I could send one eventually though.
I've seen Sol lose. He's a very humble honest CC. He just wins most of the time. Plus would you want to constantly watch losing content on UA-cam? Twitch Livestream can provided that 🙂
Just got this game recently, its incredible. Absolutely love it. Think about it all the time at work, wishing I could play lol. The detail is mind blowing, watching all the little guys fight each other, spears and arrows flying through the air, hundreds of little battles going on... Very impressive game design. Cant think of another game that has war on this scale, with thousands upon thousands of men all fighting individually and countless moving pieces. Its like directing a real ancient battle.
tbh, I'm surprised to see how well those Carthaginian hoplites performed, maybe I didn't give them enough credit, but still I would rather have more sword units than those guys. well done. And btw, Carthage is not a mediocre faction, most people ranked them on the same par with barbarian factions in multiplayer and just a little behind Rome, so yeah they are among the top tier not low tier.
I think they get a bad rep because of the faction's lack of stellar, affordable melee infantry (when compared to others), however, I'm team Carthage all the way!
Its simple, hoplites have actually good charge value, so you charge in and form phalanx, which gives them more defense as well as +5 bonus vs infantry. This is both melee attack and armor piercing damage. Barbarian faction swordsmen have high weapon damage but low armor piercing, so they struggle against armor if they dont get a charge.
I think the Late Libyans got a lot of kills because of the Peltasts whittling down the health of the Chosen Sword Band, and I must say well played to Carthage. This game looked like it just needed Iceni to rush to gg though?
i wonder if any of your older viewers remember the old "32k" rules from Rome 1? Was pretty much Cohort spam with two in loose formation meat shields? lol. or "cwb"? man, this is a far cry from those days. Nice cast , Heir
@@HeirofCarthage hahaha yeah. Its really exciting to see all these creative builds now with diversity and staggered formations. Just a really cool evolution of an awesome game
I don't particularly understand why players in these games hang back and let themselves be shot in the face of superior missiles. The Iceni are a high charge faction, so why not get in as quickly as possible by using your cav to pin the enemy infantry and then get your chosen swords to book it after them.
Friendly fire is pretty real in Rome 2, it's hard to shoot into a melee fight without causing severe damage to your own infantry unlike in Total Warhammer. So you are incentivized to use your skirmishers as much as possible before a melee engagement, since they wont be much use again until late in a battle on e lines of fire are open.Units also lose models fairly quick, so it's in your best interest to take your time to try to gain an advantage even in you out power your enemy infantry to try to reduce the number of Javelins you eat on the charge.
@Luhso This is a good insight. In my reply to the original comment, I said it would have been a "good" fight, but I think I mean it would have been "entertaining" to watch. The skirmishing in this game, as you point out, is very critical. In a match up of two skilled players, it's not unexpected that they take their time. Don't want to die from a lurking MLG Freemen!
@@ajmiyessine3837 probably just a fully upgraded doomstack of mercenary noble fighters, perhaps with 1 or 2 African war elephants. Would be interested to see other people's opinion on that
Maybe 10 or so sacred band/ Libyan swordsman to fix the enemy infantry, 6-7 units of cav to tie down the enemy cavalry and skirmishers, then the rest elephants to deliver the killing blow. Beware of pike armies though, skirmishers are the best way to deal with pikes.
I disagree with you Heir, on Carthage being low tier. They are perfectly balanced, with a nice wide roster and tools to counter just about any faction.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Javelin Day to all!
Happy Javelin Day, love to see Carthage hold their own this match

Rome 2. Imperfect but my favorite TW. Love to see campaigns and mp replays on your channel again.
More to come!

Dam that iceni player sucks!!!
Cali is actually a solid player, he couldn’t get the momentum going in that battle I think that’s due to the fact he rely on chosen swords only.
