Heir, I got obsessed with Rome 2 because of you. I loved your Carthage DEI Campaign and your multiplayer battles back then. Your Western Roman Empire Campaign on Attila made me buy the game too a few years ago. When you focused on Warhammer I left your channel on Stand By. Please never leave the Rome 2 content!
Further than that, you don't realize the way I was obsessed with both campaigns I mentioned, I would spend hours at my school breaks watching your episodes one by one. I remember watching your videos with subtitles on because my English was not good. Well, believe it or not, I learned more English with your videos than with 10+ years of English classes
hiding in woods has always been a thing. in shogun 2 you can walk, in rome 2 you can run in woods to hid your men. you have been doing this for so long, and I love you for it. thank you heir. keep doing this plz
Heir it's not just the bracing. The blocky formation also helps blunt a charge most of the time. With the way charge bonus works in Rome 2, the frontage of the formation plays a big part in the potential damage a unit can do. When one of your units hits charge speed and then impacts an enemy, they get their charge bonus for the next few seconds (can't remember how long it is). The bonus is applied to every person in the unit but only the models that actually hit the enemy apply impact damage. So, while some of the enemy models that wrapped around will still do impact damage, it will still be way less damaging for you and them. You are basically trading your potential charge damage for theirs so it's great to do if you are going to lose the charge anyway. As an added bonus it makes units last longer, though this is more infantry on infantry, as normal heavy cavalry outweighs even super heavy infantry. The last longer is sort of subjective as if you have a unit way out classed being wrapped up it will die quicker, but in when the weight classes of the units are closer have your unit in a blocky formation will make less of the enemy unit push into your so less models will be in contact. Basically, more of their guys are at the back waiting for the guy in front to die before they can attack your men and the fight lasts longer even if you still lose. Still if you have a reasonable charge, it is usually better to just try and matched their width and counter charge. Also, all this stuff I just said is hard to use while microing a whole army it's much better to just use the defensive units as roadblocks and shoot whatever attacks them in the sides and back.
Sol played the perfect game. Tylis did very well (I couldn't have done better) but it seemed every single play Sol made was the right move at the right time. This was a master class. Thank you Heir, thank you Sol, and Glory to Dacia.
Will Sol Invictus ever send in a battle where he loses? No disrespect but it's getting to the point where there is ZERO suspense. It's OK, we all lose battles from time to time. Uploading 1 loss mixed in with 50 wins won't damage your reputation mate. Who knows? Maybe you could even send in another loss in time...
I have been playing Rome games since they started and there is always an opportunity to learn. Like blocking up units so they get wrapped around so your ranged can pick them off. I will definitely be trying that!
trying to beat four Getae noble swords is almost impossible when the player is like Sol Invictus. In my opinion Tylis had no chance in this battle. Their tribal warriors are good but lack charge and good attack.
I mean I sort of agree, though even with the higher charge Oathsworn beat Noble Swords. The issue is more support units. While they can bring other builds, Tylis main strategy is to just grind it out. The Tribal Warriors are basically Romans but swap the charge and attack (overcomplication Rome can bring a bunch of builds just making a point). Thier biggest problem against the Getae is that Raiding Horsemen aren't as good at dealing with horse archers as units like Galatian Raiders, and the lack of Heavy Horse. Factions without good mid-tier melee cavalry can suffer (depends on build) in the mobility department versus the Getae because of the Spear Horsemen. If a player has good enough micro to use both the Spear Horsemen and Bow Horsemen well together it is very difficult to deal with. Most cheap cavalry will just die, and more expensive stuff will take too much damage even if you can manage get at them. Idk I would have to look at costs, but a similar build with Galatia might work better against what the Getae brought. You would lose Oathsworn but gain a better way to deal with Bow Horsemen (Galatian Raiders) and could bring 2 mercenary Cappadocian Cavalry instead of Noble Horse, but this is all pointless as Sol is much better than me and if you bring a different faction the build is not going to be the exact same.
Its the other way tylis is much stronger because their infantry is more cost effective their cav is more cost effective and only thing they have problems with is not getting shot and as you can see the player for some reason decided to not just run once he got in range. Also the build from tylis was bad especially the noble horse.
@@AdamSchadow I think you are saying the same thing as me, sort of. Tribal Warriors while being defensive are more cost effective than Noble Swords. The problem was the Tylis build, Raiding Horsemen and Noble Horse can't do much to the pretty standard Getae 3 Bow Horsemen and 4 Spear Horsemen (see tons of builds with this) if the Getae player has decent micro. While not at MLG Freemen levels the Spear Horsemen are heavy cavalry for under 600 gold they are hard to trade cost effectively against. This is not Atilla where cavalry is immune to impact damage, even with the Spear Horsemen terrible stats most thing get hurt when being charge by them except elite units and most of those cost 900ish or more. The build meant it meant it was hard to use his mobility and Slingers, though I get want to push for the winning engagement he needed to screen better with his slingers. Forget even get kills on them Sol does not want to waste arrows from the bowmen or Bow horsemen on them (and he didn't) so use them to deny an area. the Rushing in under fire and getting smacked by a cavalry charge let the Noble Swords choose their fights and one on one they win.
i am jat from india and i heared that getae and jats are same but name are different and they both are worrior in their own area what you want to say on this are they same or not?

I redownloaded Rome 2. and it has been a breath of fresh air form warhammer.

Man I would love a Rome 3 or standalone Alexander game.
yeah, Rome 3 would be great
blocky formation are very common in siege battles for easy javelin throwing of course
Awesome vidéo as always Heir
One of those days we're going to get a replay where sol loses
Thank you, and sol invictus for this video I will certainly be learning a lot.
Drinking game idea: take a drink every time Heir says "Noble" Have fun!
A blessing from the lord!
