- Naoya Inoue might be the best boxer pound for pound at the moment, but in his 25 total fights, there was one particular night, where he nearly lost everything that he had achieved to his name.
It was a clash between a rising young superstar, against an aging legend of the sport that not only wanted to end the hype train of the japanese fighter, but literally break his spirit into pieces.
Today we will talk about the legendary fight that nearly broke naoya Inoue and we will reveal all the details of the famous fight against Nonito Donaire, one of the greatest clashes of all time.
This was not the fight that almost broke Inoue. IT WAS THE FIGHT THAT MADE INOUE!!
Yeah it reinvented him
I also think the adversity from win ing such a tough fight made him better...he knew it was very touchable, monster or not.
It's a stepping stone for Inoue to become a better fighter?
Donaire was never expected to make it as far as he did. Everyone thought the aging fighter would be taken out much sooner in the tournament. The fact that he made it final match against inoue was already a huge achievement. Not to mention the heart he had to bring a real challenge to inoue and make the monster earn it. Much respect to donaire.
BS! WATCH WHAT THE IDIOT REFEREE SHARIF DID ON INOUE /DONAIRE FIRST FIGHT. IF INOUE WAS NOT BLOCKED BY THAT REGGIN REF . DONAIRE WILL BE TKO.
his reflexes and defence were un believably on song
Agreed
It's because Inoue had too much respect for Donair and took the wrong approach against Donair. He learned in the 2nd fight to not fool around with anybody.
Donaire great fighter no dought
You have to admire a fighter that has style and class and that behaves like a gentleman. No screaming, name calling, just biz from A toZ,
just like Manny Pacquiao.
Yes! You’re right. Naoya is gentleman and disciplined. Unlike casimero, fulton, mayweather
There is a word like this in Japanese.
"The weaker the dog, the more it barks."
There is a word like this in Japanese.
"The weaker the dog, the more it barks."
That's how Asians treat each other...
Throughout the fight, Inoue couldn't see clearly with the cracked orbital bone.
He was hallucinating the whole time.
Inoue switching to defensive mode and his iron chin help him stand and resist.
Hardcore stuff.
Donaire was 36 at the time of the first Inoue fight. That happens to be Crawford's age right now. Certain idiots try and denigrate Inoue's accomplishments by claiming Donaire was old. Just haters.
Donaire in first fight was a beast in great shape...haters don t know this..
The lower the weight class the more significant age becomes. I actually thought Donaire was older than 36. Regardless Inoue's an all-rounded beast.
@@manosparavida3551 The reason you probably thought Donaire was older than that was Mayweather and others have repeatedly stated that he was 39 or 40. Just totally ignorant people or liars who knew better. Anything to demean a boxer they feel like might eclipse their career.
Asians don't age as fast as Westerners. In fact, 36 is the optimum age for Asians. Manny was kicking arses at that age.@@manosparavida3551
Filipinos lies everywhere to discredit inoue. And now they love mayweather.
Naoya is a great fighter, no doubt about it. He has the speed, killing punch, stamina to endure twelve rounds and strong spirit to win.
This is the kind of fight Naoya needed ….a grinder , and one that he has to overcome an injury. This builds character and grit. This was a priceless experience to build on. Tyson sure can spot the talent…..I agree , this fighter is going to go deep.
I’m Filipino but with much admiration for this Japanese warrior being able to defeat his opponent injured. Using his skills and immense power
What’s crazy is how Donaire made Inoue even more of a monster! It was an amazing fight where Inoue got to see what he was made of and dig deep while at the same time perfecting his craft watching the fight after. It did the exact opposite to Nonito as we saw in the rematch. It was a beautiful thing to see. A great passing of the torch!
One of the most precise accuracy and clean puncher in boxing history!
As a long time Donaire fan, I have to say Nonito’s age showed he was not the same super quick knockout artist of yesteryear. He was still a super fighter, but lost a step or two in timing and speed, whereas Naoue looked like a very young and fresh Nonito.
Best Take
One of the BEST Fights Ever!
That fight proved Naoya could take a punch. It was a tough fight since Donaires style is similar. They say the toughest fight is always against yourself.
I like how Naoya showed great respect and sportsmanship to him after the match, great fight from both of them
Still one of the best fights in todays boxing era!!!!
NO argument ther - totally out on its own!
this is the best standard of everything boxing I've ever seen. . . alien-level
For 7 years I'd been waiting for Naoya to transform the doubters into believers.
I would never bet against him..
Tbf Donaire's one of the best. Very so underrated on people's lists.
This is like Arturo vs. Ward.... standing toe to toe. These are battle zones.... not an exercise. Only honorable men draw the line on the canvas and be respectful to the other and these two have it. Thanks for some of the more entertaining moments in history.
The 11th rd was total brilliance. How Donaire was able to continue after that body shot is the stuff of legend.
How Donaire was able to continue was the ref purposely blocked Inoue from going after him while he was still on his feet and then on top of that he picked up the count a second late.
@@kawakami789 exactly! horrible refereeing! inoue would have finished him!
If Donaire was 5 yrs younger he may of won, he was definitely getting on in his career when this fight took place.
36 years of age is not that old. 36 can still be very strong if the person is fit as and trains himself constantly. Donair was beating all his opponents to get to the final. Inoue was just too good for him. Stop using his age as an excuse why he lost.
Same thing happened in the 2nd fight too. He was beating all his opponents to earn a rematch with Inoue.
It's not his age that he lost, Inoue was just too good for him.
That was a war....😤👍
This is the type of fight I like to watch. Most of them these days, more running than fighting.
Simply said: Amazing fight!
Absolutely phenomenal fight by both men! Both smart and tough as nails. Thank you!
LOL!....I think Inoue was amazed this guy was able to take some of the shots that ordinarily would KO most of his other opponents and he started questioning himself as to exactly how he was going to beat this guy.......and Donaire definitely was connecting and its probably the most Inoue has been hit during a match......kudos to Donaire for standing in there and going the distance with this guy.......he definitely won a few rounds against him and inflicted some damage.....although, as usual, Inoue was able to get one his patented body shots in........that was something Donaire couldn't overcome, but he was able to survive it though.........great match.............definitely one of the all time great fights to watch!
Nonito 🇵🇭 is a great Bóxer, but the Monster👹 is the Monster👹... 🇯🇵
Holy cow, one of best fight I ever seen❤❤❤
Crazy that you can see inoue really having fun with a tough opponent. He likes it. You can see him excited after round.
Evidently Donair didn't get the note that said he was over the hill. He fought Monster better than anyone ever has.
In the 11th round the referee did a bad move by stopping Inoue going after and finish Nonito because was still standing...🤨
People are overreacting just because Donaire managed to break Inoue's orbital bone and went the distance with him but it wasnt a close fight, Inoue with one eye still managed to win 8-9 rounds and scored a knockdown in round 11 that should have been a stoppage win if not for the referee's slow count.
YOU'RE RIGHT. NOT ONLY THE SLOW COUNT, A COUPLE OF SECONDS WAS WASTED FOR INOUE TO FINISH DONAIRE BECAUSE THE IDIOT REF SHARIF BLOCKED INPUE FOR THE KILL.
Dude do you know how serious a orbital break is? Inoue got extremely lucky that he avoided getting hit that hard again in the same area , numerous boxers have had permanent vision loss due to orbital detachment some guys off the top of my head, Billy Joel Saunders permanent vision loss from canelo, Tristan tate broken orbital led to retina detachment
@@xblade11230 that's not the point of my comment though, what I mean is that Inoue still clearly won the fight despite those handicaps.
@chlsea2633 lol it's no overreacting, inoue was 1 punch away from losing that fight and getting a doctor stoppage, if his orbital got worse the doctor would have to stop the fight
Points don't matter, willpower and fighting spirit don't matter when the doctor says you can't fight anymore that's an instant loss
@@xblade11230 what are you talking about? there is no point in that fight where the doctor is close to stopping that fight, stop spinning false narratives. Inoue got wobbled by Donaire's right hand in round 10 but that's about it and Inoue still managed to weather the storm. Why the fuck points wont matter? of course it is given that the fight actually went the distance. Donaire had his moments but Inoue outworked him on almost all of the rounds.
"The Fight That Nearly Broke Naoya Inoue's Life"????
Clickbait much? With the exception of TWO moments in the fight that merely stunned Inoue (including the delivery of his orbital fracture), he recovered and always had the slight edge. Yes, it was a more challenging fight than he had had in a long time and it was a spectacular fight, but Inoue proved he was durable as fuck and it's frustrating to hear folks say his flaws were shown or "his life was nearly broken." Sure, he got touched up good a few times. He's in a damn punching contest, that's what happens! Just because it rarely happens to him, doesn't mean that when he does, he's in some kind of grave danger. During the Fulton fight, Coolboy actually got a couple of shots in and all the Scooter fans went bananas thinking Inoue was getting exposed. LOL! Yes, I saw his head snap back and then I saw him give it as much attention as a mosquito bite.
After the Fulton fight, all of a sudden all these boxing channels are talking about him like the superstar came out of nowhere and they've got the best insight on him. You guys are late to the party!
orbital bone injury can be career ending
Yes he almost lost his life, broken orbital injury can be career ending, and could result in retina detachment which is a career ending injury
If he took another hard hit in the same area it would have been gameover for Inoue, he would need surgery and most likely would have had permanent vision loss, he would be permanently broken as a fighter
Wow you written a novel. Lol the effort.
one of the best commentary by this broadcaster........against almost all the sports i been watching.......this fight also highlight that while there are sportspersons with abilities in PHILIPPINE in quite a few sport BUT ...they always came up SHORT...............may be its mentality thinking they already done enough when there is still 2 percent left to complete.....THUS THEY SEEM ALWAYS CANNOT CROSS THE LAST HURDLE.
Man this fight right here is what put the rest of the world's eyes on Inoue for most of us outside of Japan. Hella wish we could see a prime Donaire vs Inoue
Honestly, watching Donaire over the years, I can't help but think about his wasted potential. He relied too much on landing his famous left hook. He rarely circled his opponent and never threw enough jabs. He had incredible reflexes and his left hook explosive.
The only problem was his eye other then that true champion. He still learning as he keep fighting to the top of his game. WARRIOR
Luis Nery may not have Donaire's chin but it's like a young Dpnaire in many ways. It'll be interesting to see Inoue vs Nery
bro came back stronger and better than ever. Koing everyone. it's incredible. most boxers wouldve sucked afterwards
Donaire actually was knocked out but for reason the ref gave him a 14 count after a precise liver shot. Neither fighter gave up after suffering devastating damage. It may well be the fight of the decade.
SO MUCH HEART!
This fight made Inoue the "monster" he is today. That's why in their 2nd fight he made it look so easy.
I would pay to watch an Naoya fight over just about any heavyweight fight
What is the name of the song playing in the back ground while they first boxed? Thanks
GREAT fight!! 🤜🔥💥🔥🤛
As a result of a punch Inoue was blind in one eye for most of this fight which gave Donaire a distinct advantage The rematch was a more accurate account of Inoue's talent
DID YOU HEAR WHAT INOUE SAID IN POST FIGHT INTERVIEW? HE WATCHED DONAIRE'S PAST FIGHT WHEN DONAIRE SUFFERED AN EYE INJURY AND LEARNED FROM TAHT.
Bro You Champion fan of everybody.
Is that Gof of War battle music!? Very fitting.
Luv this young man's style.
I watched this fight live, I was surprised that Donaire did as well as he did, I am guessing that like everyone else I didn't know Inoue sustained such a bad injury until well after the fight.
There's power in the punch of Naoya from both right and left. He can "fly" with his footwork.
Donaire is NO JOKE. Almost has revered as PacMan in Phils.
Nonito Donaire was the toughest combat Inoue has fought so far...
We need to see loma vs inoue it would be a good fight. I will pay huge amount of money just to see that.. Ill support both of them
Lol.
Dude was fighting to win...with a broke eye...
Cant teach that kinda heart or tuffness....
This fight sold me...Inoue a real champ. Bros a legit Monster
Watching from Brampton, Ontario, Canada ❤❤❤❤❤
The fight against Nonito was the fight which made the Legendary Monster. Now the upgraded Godzilla fighter is now blasting all his opponents away.
Exactly. Everyone needs experience like that. Now he is a real monster thats why he beat nonito n thier 2nd fight easily because he already evloved
Great stuff. Fantasy fight, The Pac Man against this guy, both in their prime?
Inoue vs donaire first fight donaire was actually knocked out. When donaire got hit with a body shot he turned his back from Inoue and ran half way around the ring where the referee bumped Inoue from attacking donaire, then the referee started counting after eight seconds have already gone by since the body shot and then started the one count. That was a knock out, it is illegal for a referee to bump a fighter away from attacking another fighter who’s still on his feet and running away. The Monster was cheated out of a knock out because of the referee and the late and slow count after the body shot that dropped donaire.
Fabuloso combate!!
In this match, I think Inoue has shown too much respect to Donaire. He made his life harder for this match. That's why on their second encounter, Donaire did not exist.
12:13 what a great sportsmanship from both
Never seen inoue appreciated a good fight like that🔥
I greatly esteem the boxing qualities of Nonito Donaire, who has so far been the opponent who has been most able to counter, but only for a few rounds, Naoya's speed and strength. The most worthy of stepping into the ring to fight Naoya. It is true that after this match one of Naoya's eyes is still not fully healed, unfortunately, but considering every blow with which Naoya demolished Nonito for 12 rounds, the title of the video should have been, realistically, "The fight that NEARLY BROKE Nonito Donaire's life."
Donaire did not impress when he was the champ but this fight made me respect him as the past legit champion. He gave the monster a real fight. Inoue is special like the PACMAN. Unfortunately he will not be able to beat the Pacman's achievements like fighting bigger men in the welterweight division. Inoue will be knocked out instantly. He will reach his ceiling at 126 division. North of 126 will be a different ball game.
One of the best bout ever!
That body shot though
Well sometimes,endurance and experience matters
What a fight
the only problem with Donaire was his stamina. Inoue is strong with all that damage he take and still fight
It goes both ways. It nearly broke down Donaire because of the beating he wasn't the same after this and lost badly in his second fight.
Great fight
oof!! wow!
Donaire was the only Hall of Famer that Inoue has beaten.. looking forward to more high caliber opponents for him!!
Donarie is a legend and the only boxer to take inoue into deep water and almost pulled it off but inoue showed everyone what hes made of he's the best of the best no question
I likey. His nom sounded Eskimo like Mineta.
Boxingverse told a lie : Inoue was the winner.
Naoya Inoue, hi is the century monster ..
The old man gave the kid a spanking but the young man took it and prevailed. It was a very exciting fight, and I didn't know who to root for since I am a fan of both of them.
You might not know who Naoya Inoue is, but now ya know, eh?
"There's wasn't much trash talk before the fight..." It's not really that, It's just how Asians treat oponents, with respect....
Donair rose heavily in manynpeople'sneyes, despite losing.
That's what happens when the best have the cajonea to.take on the best. WIN lose or draw, both parties are elevated.
NUNCA PELEES CON UN HOMBRE QUE TENGA LA DISTANCIA ENTRE HOMBROS MAYOR QUE LA QUE TU TIENES. ESTE BOXEADOR TE HIZO MUCHO DAÑO..TENGAN CUIDADO LOS MANEJADORES EN ESCOGER LOS RIVALES DE ESTE MUCHACHO.....
Best fight ever.
Nearly broke Noaya 😂😂😂😂what a funny title
thrilling. you want one guy to take a knee to give you a break. you lose track of the scoring by round 3. you start think about a klondike bar by round 5. by round 8 your own ribs are hurting so much you need to kimshi squat
Inoue is good but the old man Nonito gave him too much problems though
That was a good fight.
not sure what a prime donaire would have done we will never know ?
Dinaire is also a great fighter, very aggressive duo
.. INOUE....."EE-NOH- UH- EH"... please.
What are you talking about dude…? He outboxed Donaire ,won almost every round until the knockdown..Donaire gave him top fight but not more than rhat….Do your homework dude
Donaire beat him up.
Are talking about the first fight???? If yes. Then you're wrong.
@@sixdesert994 lol
@@mikeyrose4183 it was a good fight. Right? Nonito is his toughest opponent.
@@mikeyrose4183donaire got dominated the 1st fight and murdered in the 2nd.
Whata great foght! Two champs!
Great fight.
Donaire was 40 years old when this fight happened. He did a great job for not getting KO and injuring Inoue’s eye socket forever
Watching these masters, you get to appreciate how good Mayweather is in evading punches.
Honourable war fought on both sides. Major props to both.
imagine a prime Donaire vs prime Inoue fight
Inoue is an easy fight for a prime Donaire. He's probably sleeping with that same shot.
Donaire es un buen boxeador aunque perdio con inoue demostro tener buena preparacion y buena resistencia.
This channel must be made by a Filipino. Filipino fans are toxic these days because manny is no longer an active fighter. And now there is another Asian fighter who’s on top that is not Filipino. And this is coming from a big manny fan. But I’ve seen so many hate come from Filipinos lately. Especially after inoue schooled and ko’d tapales. Inoue out boxed donaire in the first fight and committed murder in the 2nd. To all the toxic Filipino fans don’t be angry just because there’s no more Filipino top fighters. I’m sure another one will come along. But right now just appreciate the sport and support your fellow Asian athlete. Inoue is pfp king right now. Just accept it.
MEMORIES OF ALI VS FRAZIER.
Any idea how much you need to be in great fighting shape to take the beating that Donaire dished out and still be able to deliver a win which included a severe body shot knockdown late in the 12 round? The man is not only skilled, but truly tough.
