- In this video, we're going to take a look at the evolution of guest characters in the SOULCALIBUR franchise.
SOULCALIBUR is a fighting game series that has been around since 1995. One of the most unique aspects of the franchise is the inclusion of guest characters from other popular media. From comic book heroes to video game characters, SOULCALIBUR has had its fair share of famous faces over the years.
In this video, we'll be taking a look at all of the guest characters that have appeared in the SOULCALIBUR games, and examining how they've changed and evolved over time. We'll be starting with the very first guest character, Link from The Legend of Zelda, who appeared in SOULCALIBUR II on the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.
We'll also be taking a look at other notable guest characters, such as Spawn, Yoda, Darth Vader, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and Geralt of Rivia. We'll examine how their movesets and animations have changed from game to game, and how they've been adapted to fit within the world of SOULCALIBUR.

I love how there's so much variety in soul calibur 2 that they have the balls to add Link from the legend of zelda, Heihachi from tekken, and Spawn from 3 different consoles

Be so dope if a Soul Calibur game brought back every guest in 1 game!! Imagine all the sales. I bought this on my psp, and Mortal Kombat just because I'm a huge Kratos fan boy. First time I'd bought a game from either one of em lol.
@@Praephyr They were at the time of this game's release, but I think I saw Tekken now come on other consoles. Maybe, Namco had a change of plans, because Tekken was mainly a Namco series. I did not know Spawn was on an X Box game. Do you know which game he came from?

@@Praephyr Someone is saying that Spawn is from a comic book. If you look at the back of Soul Calibur 2 on X Box, it mentions that the comic book character Spawn appears as a guest for the X Box version or something like that, but it does mention about Spawn being a comic book character.

I love just how totally random the guest characters are, like there's no theme. We have guests from different video game series that stem from western and Japanese developers, comic book characters and sci-fi franchise.

Not gonna lie. Soul calibur games tend to look really good for the console generation they came out on. And they tend to look good even going into the next generation. Soul calibur 4 still looks amazing to this day and soul calibur 2 honestly looks good to this day as well, especially compared to other games that came out in the same gen. Also time to add 2b to this list xD
And now Soulcalibur VI looks like an upgraded Ps3 game.

@@Scyclo True Soulcalibur II looks better than some 3D fighting games that came out a little later like Tekken 5 and even DOA4 on Xbox 360 although Soulcalibur VI looks pretty cheap next to something like Tekken 7 this is the first time in history that a Tekken game has better graphics than a Soulcalibur game. But I don't blame Namco for reducing the budget the series had to be rebooted so it's understandable hopefully Soulcalibur can kick Tekkens ass in the visual department again.

I think most people are focused onto the guest characters, because that's what this video is about. Aside from guest characters, I did want to see Lucius Alexander join in. One website called him by that name, but I would have thought his last name would be Alexandra, because he's the brother of Cassandra and Sophitia. Cassandra was my favorite character in Soul Calibur 2. I only played Soul Calibur 2 and Soul Calibur Legends, but if Lucius joins in any, I might go for it, but I think the chance for him is never.

Instead of Master Chief or Arbiter for Xbox I think someone from Killer Instinct would suit it more. Like Jago, Spinal, Maya or Tusk. But Arbiter would be awesome on SC6, he's my main on Killer Instinct lol

Link is the only character I haven’t tried because I never had the GameCube version.
Shon Oakley I’ve owned all 3 at one point, brother sold the Xbox version when he got a 360, he also sold the ps2 version, I bought the ps2 version again from blockbuster, then I bought the GameCube version off of amazon

I'm the complete opposite. All I've ever had was a game cube so Link is all I've ever known. I didn't even know about Spawn and Heihachi until much later.
I'm surprised they never taught of having Simon Belmont as a guest character, regardless though every guest characters have been great so far.

Note: Though SC3 doesn't have any official "guest characters" you can unlock a Costume of KOS-MOS from Xenosaga as clothes in the Character creation options. And along with that Devil Jin from TEKKEN appears in the same fashion in SC5.

There was KOS-MOS from Xenosaga: Episode 1 on Soul Calibur 3, though she was one you had to build using the X-type pieces. She's one of my favorite guest characters in Soul Calibur history, next to Heihachi.

I would love to see The Prince from Prince of Persia appear in Soul Calibur. His move-set would be pretty wild and acrobatic, and it would be amazing if the dagger of time was utilized in some way.

Leave the horror characters to Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur is fantasy, if Negan from TWD already felt weird in Tekken 7 these characters would feel even more unfitting (well maybe except Van Helsing)

Well, that is kind of the point of guest characters in certain series. They try to slightly branch out into the fans of that character’s respective series to hopefully get them into SC. Same with other fighter games. But I do understand what you mean. It was the same for me with Link & Heihachi in SC2.

So let me get this straight. Every version of SoulCalibur 2 had a guest character exclusive to that version. The Xbox version had Spawn, the PS2 version had Heihachi, and the GameCube version had Link. Which version is used when playing competitively?
Edit: I learned eventually that the guest characters were banned from tournaments.

What you're suppose to do is back up until you're hair away from the edge of the arena, then grab the opponent while pushing back on the control stick for an instant ring out of the opponent.

I only bought Soul Calibur 2 on GameCube for Link from the Legend Of Zelda. My brother did get Soul Calibur Legends, because it was an action adventure game. We did not go for the other Soul Calibur games. If the brother of Cassandra and Sophitia (named Lucius) does join in any, I might go for that series, but I think the chance is never. By the way, my favorite character in Soul Calibur 2 is Cassandra, but Link was the main reason I got Soul Calibur 2, because I knew him from the Legend Of Zelda.

Os personagens que mais se encaixariam no Soul Calibur seriam Firion (Final Fantasy II) ou Vaan (Final Fantasy XII).
