Not gonna lie. Soul calibur games tend to look really good for the console generation they came out on. And they tend to look good even going into the next generation. Soul calibur 4 still looks amazing to this day and soul calibur 2 honestly looks good to this day as well, especially compared to other games that came out in the same gen. Also time to add 2b to this list xD

But I don't blame Namco for reducing the budget the series had to be rebooted so it's understandable hopefully Soulcalibur can kick Tekkens ass in the visual department again.

I'm the complete opposite. All I've ever had was a game cube so Link is all I've ever known. I didn't even know about Spawn and Heihachi until much later.
Note: Though SC3 doesn't have any official "guest characters" you can unlock a Costume of KOS-MOS from Xenosaga as clothes in the Character creation options. And along with that Devil Jin from TEKKEN appears in the same fashion in SC5.
There was KOS-MOS from Xenosaga: Episode 1 on Soul Calibur 3, though she was one you had to build using the X-type pieces. She's one of my favorite guest characters in Soul Calibur history, next to Heihachi.

Well, that is kind of the point of guest characters in certain series. They try to slightly branch out into the fans of that character’s respective series to hopefully get them into SC. Soul calibur 2 had 3 amazing guests that felt so good to play. I especially loved spawn
as someone who just recently started reading my friend's Spawn comics, they somehow made him even more edgy than he actually is, to a painful degree
he should be in mortal kombat and feat wise in an death battle he slaughter all the characters of soul calibur with his crazy abilities
