awesome video, im actually using a Murray as well mine is the briggs 16.5hp one OHV iron bore wouldn't mind trying to do the pullyswap as well. right now going probelm after problem smh , first was all the belts ground and deck, then gas tank was leaking now starter smh :/ but i still love the old Murrays mine was the model 425009x8
I just got a murray as well, Briggs 12.5hp, tied a wire to the governor so it will pop wheelies and planning on swapping both pulleys, gotta fix most of the wiring to the battery and solenoid though, it's gonna be a fun project
For the throttle you could have just by passed the old system and tied your cable straight to the governor arm. That would be a night and day difference and you should get full rev rang from the engine. The engine has a max rang of 4300rpms. So you so far unlocked like 2500rpms. So 27mph would be more like 34mph.
Yea I’m aware of how to get more out of it. However with the stock connecting rod, valve springs, and cast iron flywheel, id like to keep the rev range stock lol. It’s super reliable right now. But I agree I can get a few more mph out of it. I have the idea to tie a string to the throttle arm and get those rpms when I need them with a quick yank lol.
Spiral diaphragm for the carb, I’ve haven’t used on but they are swore by. and go to the other side and roll the check flaps, on that gasket, to press real nice on the carb’s ports.
Hey mate could you show us your shifting set up seem pretty cool got the same mower and would like to change my set up to something like that could you do a video on it plz

Yes, from the factory the small pulley is on the engine and the large is on the transaxle. You want to spin the transaxle faster to increase the speed of the machine. Only way to do that is to change the pulley ratio. Search some pulley ratios on UA-cam. I’m sure there is a video to help better explain it.

I've got a simpler/cleaner way of attaching a throttle cable to the stock governor linkage if you are interested in building another.
