  • Imagine owning an infinite number of Moog Synths. What would you do?
I have very much enjoyed using the Moog Mariana the New Bass Synthesizer from Moog Music. I had to know if it sounded better than the emulations I had tried and, yes, I think it does.
Pairing it with Midicake ARP is a no-brainer. Basslines, Arpeggios, Thick Pads. There's a lot of low end and it sounds fantastic!

Ah! This brings me to the idea to use the whole bunch of millions of instruments in my Logic Pro with Arp.

Can you midi map the beatstep pro nobs to the Mariana synth and adjust the parameters live? All while sequencing a pattern on beatstep?

Yes, the BS has a 4th channel. Press control, the it becomes a MIDI controller with the knobs sending CC and the pads sending notes. You can then assign these in Ableton and quickly switch channels on the Beatstep to alternate between sequencing and CC controlling. That's the only way I think. You can also assign ARP's macros to output CCs.

how did you do this? send each arp channel from the midicake arp to a different midi channel in ableton?

Each arp channel (and indeed, each arp on each patch) can output on a different MIDI Channel. I just routed the MIDI in Ableton. Like this: instagram.com/reel/CxfacOKiMQu
