The HPF is not only for the noise. In serial & parallel modes, the HPF is applied to oscillators 1 & 2. Parallel applies the HPF & LPF in parallel. Series applies them in series.
I’m a big fan of limited softsynths. I like to pick a synth appropriate to the task and have a UI that focuses on and caters to that rather than navigating the UI of a “do it all” synth searching for the options I want to focus on.

This sounds great and it’s a no brainer for me. I loved the Moogerfooger plugins, and this is a perfect companion to those. I see a lot of comments about Minimoog emulations, but this really is something different entirely.
I’ve long been advocating for Novation to release a Bass Station v.3, a compact 2.5 octave synth based on their Peak/Summit architecture. In keeping with their nomenclature, I proposed it be named Mariana. Oh well.
Maybe for the iPad, but not the desktop. Softube Model 72 is not that much more expensive and it buys the modules for Softube Modular as well. I own a license for it and most of the other Softube Modular stuff. The MoogerFooger interface is cool, but again... Modular or VCV-Rack Pro with the "Host" module pack.
Knowing fullwell I won't be able to afford a Moog in hardware, I've bought this and installed without even watching the full video. It sounds fantastic.
Thank you for such an enjoyable walk through SC. I don't think there is another company that could get away with putting so many limitations on a software synth in today's market, other than MOOG! It's funny though. I don't know if it's psychological, but It's quirks are kind of endearing me more to it!

Almost bought it, but then compared to my softube model 72 and nope.. strange but moog is still not "there" emulating their own sound, especially filter.
Initially, this sounds nice. But spend a couple of hours with it, and you realise that is only has a few nice sounds, and you start to hear a thinness to everything but the low end, which isn't that great. Also, the UI is a massive pain having to constantly switch between 4 pages! I would really try for several hours before you buy, the RSI might change your mind about buying. Unless you're a sound designer, I'd wait until Model 72 goes on sale for $49 in Feb if you want the Moog sound in soft synth form. Or it's on sale now for $79.
It’s alright, and I’m ok with moog doing software... the foogers, model d and model 15 modular are good apps, but I didn’t quite get on with the Animoog or the Mariana. It’s not that it’s bad, but I don’t go to moog stuff for a modulation matrix assignment.
I think the real question is this: if you have a software version of a MiniMoog and/or Moog Modular, is this different enough sonically to justify the $49? Depends totally on the user. I agree that it's interesting to program limitations into software synths. Choice overload is a real thing, but then again, so is plugin overload - how many software synths does one need to do bass tracks? I think this product will do well, though. $49 is pretty cheap.

This isn't a Minimoog recreation - its got much more flexible mod routings etc. So I wouldn't put it in the same boat as all the others you mentioned. ... and do we ever really NEED them ;)
Using adobe podcast (I think that’s what it’s called) it uses AI to remove the room reverb. It’s not perfect but I love it as I do t have to dress the room and it sounds so much better. Thanks for noticing.
A knew a girl called Mariana or did I, I think she existed in an alternate timeline. But hey if this was released as an expander module for the Minimoog I think of all the ripples that would have caused
I really like the voice architecture, design/layout, and especially the focused and relatively simple feature set. At $15 introductory I did not really need another iPad synth, but could not resist. It sounds great so far. The whole virtual CV thing is nonsense in an AUM/Loopy Pro type environment, but maybe makes things easier in some PC DAW setups?
thx for the great video. its not possible to map the amount of the envelopes to a midi controller, right? I´ve set up lots of knobs on my midi controller to control the synth but I didn't find a way to map the lfo amount on the filter for example.

So this is Numark-Moog. Just apps. I have almost all the Moog apps for the desktop. They sound good for the most part. But I don't find them to be terribly stable and usable in production. Too many problems with sound output when used as a VST/AU. With the apps acting like they are working under the DAW host, but no sound is coming out. No other VST/AU I've ever used does this. I've seen a few softsynths lock up if you change the samplerate of the project. But that was a problem many years ago. These days, Moog is the only company that seems to have a problem making their apps behave as anything other than a fun toy.

I recorded this using the standalone version but I do have a loop ack function on my audio interface so I can record any sounds the computer creates. Theres software to do that as well like Audio Hijack.

Just because you can make software do everything, doesn't mean that you should. Haha. I have enough solutions for all that. These days I do like the idea of some specific (edit: tools*) for a task that have a particular character and therefore a smoother / quicker workflow. :D.
It's an odd release but I kinda get it. Moog's already released virtual versions of the Minimoog and their modular stuff, plus done wavetable hybrid with the Animoogs. The only thing left is to either cannibalize their semi-modular line (which would be great) or release something in the vein of their newer 'modern' stuff like the 'Sub' and 'Phatty' line of synths. That's what Mariana sounds like to me...that in-your-face, slightly crunchy, digitally-controlled analog, Moog sound. For more aggressive genres it probably has it's place, but not really my cup of tea personally.

I'm not really neutral - just trying to explain they're not the best you've heard, but not 'bad'. I don't get the feeling I get from other software where you hear the rough edges or grunge at certain frequencies at high resonance you get own some hardware. I recently made a video demoing the Roland ACB tech vs the encore using the SH101 models on the Fantom. ua-cam.com/video/DsTW3NnpO7Q/v-deo.html If you check that out you'll see what I mean. Zencore - not 'bad', and perfectly adequate for 95% of tones, but the ACB has the edge when you take it to its limits and is indistinguishable to all intents and purposes from the vintage synth. The Mariana falls somewhere between the Encore and ACB. I mention the Softube Model 72... that's spot on, this isn't, but then there's no original to compare it to. But it does tend more toward the Zencore in overall feel.
I'll post what I posted elsewhere. I don't think what Moog is doing is healthy for the company as it could be potentially sending signs that they're more interested in going the path of software to have a more sustainable business model. It doesn't mean software is bad, just that it under values the hardware aspect of Moog's current offerings. I loved the sound of my Moog Minitaur but hated the aspect that it needed to be tethered to my PC to view patches and some hidden features. This is not what a bread and butter analog company does, makes gear that still requires a PC for full functionality. Given the recent acquisition of Moog, then this step towards software, it could be a sign of things to come where more software, less hardware becomes the norm. Fact they did this with their pedals is a shame too. The best thing Moog could do is release a fully functional MIDI controller for their software counterparts, this way you would have a connection to the software with an interface, rather than be reliant with a mouse. Normally being a big fan of your videos, I can't take the technical specs of this one serious, as long as all I hear is a really dreadfull, plasticky sound not worthy of being called a "Moog" at all. About every Moog VA out there sounds better than this nonsense to me!

I disagree. I think their emulations on the iPad are excellent. Too bad those aren’t ported or remade for the desktop.

In theory Diva can do everything. But in practice I stuck with Legend and Obsession for fast percussive basses.

No I can’t see a way to map the extra LFO, but all the synth parameters should be controllable.

I just picked it up. It sounds great for the price.
Normally being a big fan of your videos, I can't take the technical specs of this one serious, as long as all I hear is a really dreadfull, plasticky sound not worthy of being called a "Moog" at all. About every Moog VA out there sounds better than this nonsense to me!
Like I said. It’s not up there with the likes of Softube sonically, but it’s fun to play.
Electric "cars", vst synths, fake meat and now even Moog jumps into that fake world. Not with my cash. Analogue or death!
