I was vitamin D deficient (unbeknownst to me at the time) and probably vitamin A deficient too, and had lost hair at the crown area, as well as having muscle and joint pain, and some weight gain. For some reason, I decided to start taking cod liver oil (contains vitamins A and D) and turned my health around. Later, I started supplementation with 5,000 IU vitamin D3 daily. My hair has gone from thin and about 1 inch at the crown to fuller and about 6 inches now.
Make sure your absorbing your nutrients. Low stomach acid stops absorption. Other drinks like excessive tea and especially coffee. Vitamin D 3/K2 is very important. Drink no sugar electrolytes for absorption! Potassium magnesium sodium is in electrolytes. This is very important. Medicine can cause low electrolytes and causes deficiencies of many nutrients. Bad soil for vegetables and fruit causes lack of nutrients. Low potassium is high percentage of deficiency. Take D3 with K2 which puts the calcium into the bones not the soft tissue like arteries. Many supplements are sold with it together in the pill. Vitamin D is not always absorbed even if in the sun. Darker the skin less the absorption. Most people are deficient and you should be checked but it’s very rare to take to much because you need to keep it higher than 50 ng. It should be 80-100 ng to feel good. Take with a natural fat for absorption or with magnesium helps absorption. After eating breakfast with eggs bacon or some real butter is great! Eat real butter because natural fat is important for your health. This lady knows her nutrition! Anxiety meds, acid reducers, blood pressure meds, Metformin meds affect your absorption.

A hair stylist recently told me that a sheep farmer friend of hers said that he feeds his sheep ground flax seed meal for their wool. For years I've put ground flax seed in my morning juice drink and the hair stylist said I had very thick hair for my age, I'm close to 70. Your right nutrition is definitely important.
Just an fyi, if it's possible to, try to check the heavy metals in the brand of flax seed, they're finding heavy metals in some brands and I bet it's in chis seeds too :(

100% correct, I have a Vitamin deficiency now, vitamin D and iron. Doctor have me taking taking vitamin D3 and foods that are high iron. I drink a smoothie with frozen blueberries , strawberries, banana, spinach and water, I also and a scoop of beetroot powder. Hair doctor had me use Fluocinonide ointment for inflammation on my head and told me to eat more proteins, I also was told to take Nutrafol hair vitamins (yes expensive). I also use Sulfur 8 shampoo and black castor oil with help grow bald spot back back before I got to my first doctors appointment. Go back in a month to have my blood checked again and to hair doctor. I also put different seeds in my smoothie, flax seed, chia and hemp, I rotate them.
A few things that actually helped to control my hair fall include: (1) I quit wearing ponytails because it causes tension breakage. (2) I began massaging my scalp 2 times a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while leaning forward & holding my head upside down to allow blood flow to the scalp. It had come out so gradually that by the time I looked closely at my hair, I had several bald spots. I hadn't noticed it before because I usually wear my hair in a wash and go or a high puff. @nickaatl8172 , I've been taking the D3 and K2 for about three months but will admit that I haven't been as consistent as I should be. The progress has been very slow, and to be honest, I can't recall when I started seeing new growth, but it has started coming in at my temples. I'm still waiting for changes in my crown, and have also started using growth oil from The Mane Attraction. Again, a painfully slow process, and I have tried to stay prayerful and positive. I won't give up, though.
My mom used to put that in my hair. To me, the scent was like soothing especially when she had massages my scalp. It is still amazing to use. FYI: I miss my mom's scalp massages though.😔
I have been struggling with alopecia for about 5 years until I came across Dr Berg’s video. I did not know this...I thought thinning hair was just part of aging. Gluten may hurt the gut lining so less nutrients absorb. Gluten is in wheat/barley/rye....oats/corn/rice. Rice is low in gluten. Wild rice has no gluten. It is a grass. Hidden gluten may hurt in nuts not sold in the shell/meat basting/some spices/air/lotions/food with a label/gluten free food. Dairy/soy/sugar/GMO may also hurt. Hair test to see good mineral levels/heavy metal levels may help.
My grandmother, mother and I have female patterned baldness. Or at least I thought it was. I’m going to try this. I have taken the big doses of D since I cannot get the D up. You could possibly have other deficiencies. You should also have your B vitamins, vitamin C, iron and zinc tested too. And make sure if you take zinc, that it always has a little copper with it.

Its true. During covid my dr was surprised to learn I was taking Vitamin D. then he suggested I up my dosage to 10000 IU faily instead of 5000 IU. My previous lab work compared to the more recent showed a terribly low vitamin D level. I started taking vitamin D a couple of months ago, along with vitamin K2 (these should always be taken together because the K2 helps with the absorption of the D3). I also started taking zinc and pumpkin seed oil, and believe that I have, by the grace of Almighty God, turned the corner on the hair loss.

@nickaatl8172 , I've been taking the D3 and K2 for about three months but will admit that I haven't been as consistent as I should be. The progress has been very slow, and to be honest, I can't recall when I started seeing new growth, but it has started coming in at my temples. I'm still waiting for changes in my crown, and have also started using growth oil from The Mane Attraction. Again, a painfully slow process, and I have tried to stay prayerful and positive. I won't give up, though.
🔔 As vitamin D3 is fat soluble, taking vitamin D3 with a meal that contains some fats would boost absorption. Hope this helps.

I have been struggling with alopecia for about 5 years until I came across Dr Berg’s video. I’ve seen 3 different doctors including dermatologist and none of them said a word about vitamin d3 deficiency.
I had very thick long hair however on 2016 I started noticing multiple bold spots. Very scary and when I brush my hair you just don’t wanna know how much hair was falling out. Starting from 2022 I started taking 10,000 vitamin d3 daily and I have seen a miracle. My hair started to grow back in 2 months. Thank you Jesus I have my think hair back now.

P.S. I also put a dressing of Caster Oil and Aloe Vera on my hair periodically!! Approximately 2 Tablespoons--with a cotton makeup pad. Leave on a minimum of 30 minutes and wash with gentle shampoo. Wonderful!!

I did not know this...I thought thinning hair was just part of aging. I had an acute vitamin D deficiency and had to be put on a prescription vitamin D and have then continued with over the counter Vitamin D3 as instructed by my doctor. I did not know until I read this that lack of this vitamin affects the health of one's hair. WOW 😮we never stop learning. My hair is locked and the locs look healthy!

I experienced more shedding than normal I asked my doctor to check me to see if I was vitamin D deficient and he told me I am in fact vitamin D deficient, and he prescribed some to me.

Not enough doctors talk about this enough! Its scary when you're deficient because the symptoms are horrible.
My naturalpathic doctor ran my panel and surprisingly I am not deficient in vitamin D but I am in Vitamin B. I have a small patch of hair in the front that is gone. I also do have eczema on my scalp and right on my hair line is where it flares. I also have a thyroid condition.

Most Drs (MOST), have no clue, at the most basic levels of nutrition. No questions about anything, like what you eat, for example. No more interest than the visit for income. No followups to let you know about your blood work, eitherway, leaving you hanging, with no way to get hold of them, unless your lucky enough to getanother appointment.
The problem is our medical professionals lack knowledge , along with vitamins.
The medical establishment is broken for the most part. So i tried the Carnivore diet n was surprised ; however,, hair-loss was not mentioned.
There is so much wrong. Sugar, messes up most process in the body, a big factor.

Gluten may hurt the gut lining so less nutrients absorb. Gluten is in wheat/barley/rye....oats/corn/rice. Rice is low in gluten. Wild rice has no gluten. It is a grass. Hidden gluten may hurt in nuts not sold in the shell/meat basting/some spices/air/lotions/food with a label/gluten free food. Dairy/soy/sugar/GMO may also hurt. Hair test to see good mineral levels/heavy metal levels may help.

My grandmother, mother and I have female patterned baldness. Or at least I thought it was. I’m going to try this. I have taken the big doses of D since I cannot get the D up. I am using Vitamin E Oil on my hair and taking Hair Nail and Skin Vitamins. I have been using them for over three (3) years. Also use Sulfur 8 twice a week, just started using that and Coconut oil.

How much do you take? Most adults need at least 5,000 IU daily.
You could possibly have other deficiencies. You should also have your B vitamins, vitamin C, iron and zinc tested too. And make sure if you take zinc, that it always has a little copper with it.

Its true. During covid my dr was surprised to learn I was taking Vitamin D. then he suggested I up my dosage to 10000 IU faily instead of 5000 IU. My hair and nails grow like crazy cause I also take s mushroom blend, b vitamins snd extra biotin. Admittedly I did damage my hair last year from heat and inferior products. So now Ive got it in a protective style just letting the supplements do their work so my damaged side grow back.
