I used a cheap launch scan tool to wind them back on the computer and then used a cheap wind back tool off Amazon to hold it mate.
Literally both are diy level nothing special

I have a 2011 Tiguan. I noticed you didn't have to take the caliper brackets off to get the rotors off. I wonder if it is the same on my car? That would save some labor.

Yeah you’ll probably get away with leaving the caliper On. It’s something you can do on a lot of vag group cars! Makes it really handy 🤣🤣

What's gonna happen if if I don't use this scanner to reset the brake? Is it gonna give me an error in the dashboard?

There is ways to do it without the scan tool but you can end up damaging the calipers and motors

So what happens if I don't have the diagnostic tool to reset the brake calipers? Can I still change out my rotors and brake pads without resetting the brakes using the diagnostic tool?

There is a way to do it mechanically by removing the motor, but that runs the risk of damaging the caliper or the motor so I don’t advise it

@@EllsAutoCare ok thanks! I did find a few other videos on this. You can also just put 12 volts across the connector to wind it in and out manually. So I'll probably try that. 😁

@@ArkMan70 yeah that works, you risk damaging the motor. You could get a cheap tool like this to do it , it doesn’t have to be expensive

@@ArkMan70 I did it today without diag tool. Remove two Allen bolts holding electric motor to the caliper and remove motor. Rotate shaft clockwise by hand until you feel it stop, then compress piston with clamp 🗜 as usual. I should mention I did the whole job with the key in the run position and with e brake off. Then before testing e brake for the first time, I started the vehicle.

Most vag cars have ate brake system in front, trw/lucas system in the back, but looks like tiguan have also ate system in the back, that's why the confusion i think
