That moment at 8:00 where you casually mention the Red Hydrogen and Alex pulls one out is a hell of a flex. Enjoyed this!
I think you meant 18:00, Jordan.
So glad you got Alex Lindsay! Two of my worlds combined
Love the format Tyler, more of this please!
Such a great interview! SO great to see you two together. I've been listening to Alex for over a decade on MBW
Alex Lindsay is so well spoken. Great interview.
Two of my favorite people. Great conversation.
Fantastic interview! Great guest. I've been a longtime listener of Alex Lindsay on MacBreak Weekly.
Wooooo excited to see these here
Really interesting discussion to the very end… and at the end it sounds like “Sleep No More” running in NYC for a number of years where you follow characters around several floors in an old hotel to piece together the story (or just lose all your friends)
(Yup, I’m also at the point of looking at a 15 - ONLY - as a secondary camera monitor after having only had an iPhone 11 Plus… that I didn’t want to fill up with video… the ability to use the Type-C to offload video makes me wanna reconsider… 🧐 (and I have two Ninjas that I would continue to use to record ProRes but I have three cameras and I may not want to record ProRes on all three… that 15 seems to fit?)
I dropped my iPhone 11 Pro in a river last Summer, I only upgraded to the 11 Pro when it came because it was the first time we had a dedicated wide, medium, and telephoto lens. I was already going to upgrade after 4 years so I held off for the iPhone 15. For the meanwhile I got he cheapest iPhone Apple had to offer (iPhone 11). When I saw the announcement for the 15, I realized how I was only upgrading for the camera (although the ProRes Log IS super appealing). I'm now just going to wait for the 16 Pro because my S1H already does everything I want my phone camera to do. I actually ended up buying the S Pro 16-35mm over upgrading to the iPhone 13 a few years ago solely because of that.
No big iMac, no upgrade 🤷🏼♂️ i could possibly justify a refurbished/used Studio Display+Mac Studio, but I really want a 5-6k mini-LED monitor and I’m not buying the Pro Display XDR. The rumored 30-32” iMac Pro is what I want the most.
At this point I don't think there will ever be a big iMac, the Mac Studio/Display it such a good combo
😟 I hear ya @doompod! Can we just have a decent midrange desktop... like M3pro or M3max imacs, with 27" 5k monitor, and 1080p camera and all the ports you have given the MacStudio boxes? Pleeeeaaase??? Not even asking for the Ultra. 😁
@@ongjanette with how MacBook Pro’s handle M3 Max chips, there’s no way a 27” iMac with the casing of the Studio Display couldn’t handle it the same, if not better. I’m not saying they should get the Ultra. If they can sell a 14” and 16” MBP, they can sell a 24” and 27” iMac. Apple seems to just be refusing to make a 27” iMac at this point which is ridiculous.
@@doompod agree! I'm not really one for the mobile/laptop form factor either. Just can't figure out what's holding back Apple to make an iMac that's merely on par with the pro laptops chipset! 😶
Bravo
Depends on what you’re upgrading from. Personally I’m currently on an M1 Mac Mini and want to upgrade but I prefer the Mac Studio over the Macbook. So I’m wondering if I should wait for the M3 Mac Studio or get a refurbished M2 Mac Studio.
I think that depends which chip you would put in the Studio, if it's a base model M3 it's probably fine to get an M2 now. If you're looking at a Max, definitely wait.
@@stalman I’m definitely wanting the Max model.
600nits is better, but you get the pro version of better display, lunar, or vivid app, you already can get even more than 600nits on older m1, m2 family’s pro models.
Yes that's true, and great tip for working in brightly lit areas. I'd be a little worried about overdriving my screen full time though, even if it's probably the same hardware.
Alright supporters, you watch this video you push that thumps up button 👍🏾
Great podcast! It is great to see Alex; I've followed him for over twenty years and learned a tremendous amount from him. It is great to see Alex without listening to Andy Inhatko ramble on and preach socialism.

Okay, I gotta say that the Blsck Friday M1 MacBook Pro for $3K - going back just one generation - would look pretty sweet…
If it wasn’t for the fact that my 2018 MacBook Pro was BRICKED by the last OS upgrades 🤬 had I not called Apple Support and been told “no problem” before I tried to do the upgrade… I’d be sitting w/o a machine to edit my videos today!!!
(Not to mention that Apple support for FCPX is lukewarm - at best - and is planning to go to SUBSCRIPTION pricing w/o Adobe’s Premier unless grade commitment!?!)
As I was waiting for Apple to DO THE RIGHT THING - I picked up an Asus for $2K that was more powerful than a $3K MacBook Pro - starting with a DEDICATED GPU to offload graphics and an OLED screen - and Da Vinci is FREE with more upgrades in a year than FCPX in ten years??? (Not to mention Da Vinci is put out by a VIDEO camera company and not a “phone” company)
stop trying to justify your purchase to the internet 💀 you made a decision for yourself and that’s it, keep it pushing. you just couldn’t get the Mac you wanted and had to cheap out with windows.
😅😂🤣😅😂🤣😅😂🤣😅😂🤣😅😂
Yeah, that brings my number to three (3) Dell Inspirons and three (3) MacBook Pros… Hey, I bought the 1st Compaq “vacuum clear” PC back in 1984 with the two floppies - one for the OS and the other for the Application/data… so it sounds like ya really know your stuff… 🤣😅😂😂😅🤣
@@georgerady9706 I know that you can't make your mind up lol, seems like your machine bricked on you (rip and real respect for your loss) and your using that as justification about how you feel. If people wanted a machine with a dedicated GPU they'd buy one, since it took you so long to make the jump it sounds like you just found out what a dedicated GPU was yourself... and you talk about "experience."
