I literally can't stop looking at Dunna's background! I'm definitely going to use as reference for my office. So good!

56:21 So I use the free version of Resolve on Mac and I can confirm that it does work with my 10bit A7RV files! I actually thought that Resolve just dumbed down the 10bit footage to 8bit (if that is even how it works), I didn’t know resolve just didn’t even show the video but it works seamlessly for me. I’m going to buy the full version soon because it works so well, but if you’re just starting out, the free version is what I recommend to anyone trying to get into video.

So, I assume “Gerald” is Undone…
Switch from Nikon to Sony this year and decided to splurge on the A1 because I still needed “stills” even though my main concern is video.
And one of the Video features for the A1 that Gerald touted was shooting 8K - internally - out to the Ninja in 4K externally for greater detail and the ability to crop by half into an image with no 4K data loss…
One problem. The A1 overheated within minutes! 🥵
Had the external V-Mount in a rig with the back screen (let’s not call it a monitor) extended but that sucker was on 🔥
The consensus is that the camera may have that ability - but w/o a fan (fixed in the FX30/3?) it’s was never tested to do the 8K to 4K and should be labeled “maybe”
A tech at B&H suggested NOT writing out to an internal memory (I was writing out a backup to a high speed card) but I have as yet to try it.
Now that Sony has delivered on “global shutter” for $500 less… and has not delivered a software update since??? (Maybe Spring) left a bad taste… in my pocket.
Should have gone for the FX3

If video is you main conceren and you don't need to do any stills then yes, the Fx line is better , but you mentioned you do so the FX is less than ideal fo that.
But In Nikon you have the Z8/ Z9 , The Z9 is particularly great for video with no overheat , and decent AF in Video , so if you haven't sold your Nikon Glass it's not too late.
If you have sold , you can still sell the A1 and get Fx3 / FX30 .
Another options is the S5 II X , that has some stunning Cinema camera features in a small body , no 8K , but there is 6K open gate and internal fan so again no risk of overheating ,and 24 MP which is enough for lots of use cases .
I concider not ,moving but more like adding Sony As well , A7C II maybe but the lack of firmware updates keeps me wondring .
As you watch new cameras get all fetures you'll never get ,they basicly tell you just buy the new gear , Very old fashion approach , same with canon , on the other hand panasonic , Fuji , and mainly Nikon has been amazing with FW update , bought a Z9 a year ago , held the hype tide of everyone switching to Sony , and I am glad I didn't , never looked back, awsome camera , not top dog at everything , but a true Beast for all my needs , can't wait to see what the Mk II would be.
What ever you choose Good luck in you endeavours:)

I’m getting back into FCPX (after a two year layoff) as I got a big project with multi-cameras (and this year’s Black Friday M1 MacBook Pro to replace my 2018 MacBook Pro which I still need got Izotope noise reduction that doesn’t run under Sonoma)
But I had to deliver an Online Training course ie little video much content and I found Camtasia a good basic Editor that can get quick and dirty stuff out (with video clips)

I'm not sure I agree with your point on panasonic.
The S5 II / S5 II x are the best hybrind for thier price comared to other offreing.
Thier only real weakness Compared to Sony / Canon is AF , but since when Is AF the only parameter ? especially for Video which a lot of pros (I am not pro videographer , not yet) uses manual focus anyway?
AF aside , they give you 6k , open gate , shutter angale , Custume lots , Waveforms , The X can export clean Raw to SSD , great color siconce , easy files to process , decent Af ( they improved it in the last FW update and will probaably continue to do so unlike Sony ) , 24 MP, Amazing Image stabilization , no other camera gives you all that for this price.
And it's not just about the Value but how it all works so well together , for a hybrid of around 2000 USD it's the best.
Panasoic is hugly underrated , and Sony is a bit overrated , not saying they are not good or anything , very innovative company but this innovation has a heavy price in creating a lot GAS , I hate that it's what keeps me away from Sony.
I do concider A7 C II , but very hesitent.

It would be nice to have time markers for topics discussed as I would prefer to jump into a specific topic than scan thru the whole thing.

The best camera for video is not Sony
