    As long as you are enjoying what you're doing, I would not call it a mistake to have purchased the boat. I suppose there are trade offs but you certainly seem to have the talent to do the work you're doing on it. It's an education to me just watching!

    You have my respect my friend, you are doing awesome work. I lived on a 34 Silverton for a few years, and may get into a 37 like this one day. They are a great value for the buck, lots of room. They do well out on the sea with their heavy front flare. It's a pretty darn tough sea boat. May not be a Bertram, but these are surprisingly tough sea boats. I really enjoyed this video. Great job.

      Awesome! I would like to live on it eventually one day. If I was single would be living on it for sure...haha. I am actually taking most of November off to paint the entire outside. Keep an eye on new videos soon. I agree they are great boats for the money. I did a lot of searching before I bought this and the layout was a lot better than far more expensive boats. I only wish it had diesel instead of the gas engines.

    • @Bridging_the_Political_Divide
      @Bridging_the_Political_Divide 2 роки тому +1

      @@BackyardBoatworks. Diesels are great, until it's time to overhaul (expensive)!! Big block Chevys are cheap to overhaul, not so with diesels. The diesels become a self fulfilling prophecy in the sense that they are waaaaay heavier, and with a heavier boat, you need more power. 8V92s weigh 4200lbs each, 6V92s around 3500 each I think. BBC is 750 fully dressed. It's easy to think diesel is awesome and gas is crap, but there are advantages to gas in a boat this size. Believe me, an overhaul bill on a diesel will shock you. Advantages and disadvantages. I will watch your channel for more updates. Great work!

    • @BackyardBoatworks
      @BackyardBoatworks  2 роки тому

      I totally agree. I couldn’t afford diesels which is why I ended up with this boat. I just get nervous about gas fumes but I’m making sure I have enough safety systems installed.
      The boat has never been over 10knots since I’ve owned it and it actually gets really good fuel economy when you baby it.

    • @Bridging_the_Political_Divide
      @Bridging_the_Political_Divide 2 роки тому +1

      @@BackyardBoatworks. I used to run charter boats in Detroit years ago. I've never known anyone, who knew anyone, that had a bilge explosion from fumes....doesn't happen. Incredibly rare, like a leaking fuel line. Aside of that, never happens. Run your bilge blower for 2 min before starting and you are golden, believe me. Nothing to worry about.

      @@BackyardBoatworks Since I was a hot rodder for years, I can tell you adding 75HP to those motors would be so easy, then reprop to pick up 3 knots cruise. Now with 22-23kt cruise you are close to diesel cruise, with a fraction of the weight, and minimal cash outlay. In a boat that size (not big), those BBCs can be awesome if tweaked right.

      @@BackyardBoatworks in one of your videos, you mentioned costs of renting a slip for your boat being around 1500 or 1600 a month. Im on the Mississippi gulfcoast, with all the casinos...and i have a 60 ft Hatteras enclosed bridge convertible...and i pay just under 700 dollars a month. What is it with UA-cam makers who greet viewers with "What's up?" In Oz such a question elicits responses like "What, why is anything up - there's nothing wrong?" Why not a "Hi Y'all" or a "G'day". They mean something, they are a greeting. "What's up" means nothing.

    dude, you bought the wrong boat. you should have thought it thru from the beggining and bought someithing much smaller since its not best for you to live in a boat. you should have bought a weekender 25 to 30 or even smaller and NOT demolished the interior. With 21K you could have bought a good running single engine outboard that was turn key. you should have just flipped this boat instead of demoing it. now you have a huge project that you wont likely finish and wont be used regulary anyway. get a smaller boat.
