If you have not yet disposed of the eutectic cold plates, you can reuse them with a high efficiency compressor and get a very nice system. The cold plates are the most expensive part of the system and are not the part that causes you the high energy draw. The old plates can be reused, and the connections are easy to do with either compression type fittings or silver soldered couplers. 4,450 screws
Hi Hayden, always nice to see you back in the comments section! I did think about that. I am leaning towards the Technautics system and they have a REALLY improved cold plate design that actually uses what looks more like a automotive radiator inside the stainless case so it get's much more efficient heat transfer. Really happy for you both! Great decision! I know the feeling. My dad was a young navy guy 1942 to 1947 when he sailed around the Atlantic on HMS Gotland after WW2. He dreamed about sailing/ traveling the world when retired but he got cancer and died 62 years old. My younger brother also died way too young at 44. In 2022 I sold my apartment and bought a Najad 343 and I hope to get her ready for a circumnavigation before I turn 60 (I’m 56). Best of luck to you! Follow your dream before it’s too late 🙏🙂

@@livingforsail awesome.. I left you a comment and a link to the video of the refrigeration guy for sailboats in your community section. It's the only way to share links anymore without the comment being erased
Looking forward to seeing this journey. Obviously you have had a long time to envision what you want out of this boat. Knowing that most creators don’t produce in real time, how far along are you? I only ask because viewers like to give input on certain aspects of the build, but if you’re 5 steps ahead, then it’s a moot point. If you are operating close to real time, then how much input are you willing to receive? 1104 screws.
Hello! I’m still working on the deck. Trying to get ahead but mostly in real time as of this writing. I think comments/ideas/advice are always welcome even if other steps have been committed because it could help the next person. I’m always open to constructive ideas. Keep in touch!
Morning to the two of you was another great great episode Thankyou was especially nice that Bridget appeared on the video its nice getting to know you both and your spin on Boatbuilding
Dude you're really well skilled and not only that know how to learn and expand on new competencies. You're a natural with this video series as well I would say.
Is Bridget going to be DIYing her Law School homework on UA-cam? I might watch that, too! ;) Didn't kerfing that G-10 block that backs the staysail chock weaken it considerably right down the middle where it needs to be the strongest? It was really deep.
It would weaken it, yes. I don’t think in a way that is a concern for it’s application. since it’s core material, It is mainly there for its high compression resistance and is solid where the four bolts go through (in the corners). The fiberglass skins on top and bottom will tie everything back together and it will be all good. It was also filled with thickened epoxy which should bond to the g10 well. This used to be cored with little pucks of plywood so this solution is many times stronger than the original design. 👍 I will encourage Bridget to start her own law school Channel where she studies and reads cases in real-time. 😳🤣🙌
There's a guys in your area who builds some amazing fridgeration units for older boats.. sailing vessel mig channel has a video showing his work and his contact information. Capt Topher will gladly give you the guys info if you leave him a comment. The guy is a small business owner and does quality work that he will stand behind
Thank you. 🙏. Every morning I wake up by spending g some time on my rowing machine and for the last month or two I’ve restarted his entire project from day 1. “Jaw dropping” begins to describe it. I am continually in awe!! 👍🙌
Although, plastic and wood boats are gorgeous to look at you couldn't give me one, I would run away as fast as I can if it was mine, much rather have a metal boat much easier to repair
I think it’s going to depend on your overall size and weather pattern. If you get high winds and especially snow I would not put much faith in PVC pipes. The wooden arches once glued and screwed are very strong. I can hang my whole body from any pair and pvc would not be able to do that… Our shed is 52’x21’x22’h … it’s big!
One thing that nearly all the sailing UA-camrs have in common is they don't have kids. Refitting the boat let alone a sailing adventure would be almost impossible with kids , the time , the cost , the responsibility , schooling etc . If I was your age without kids I would absolutely do what you're planning, you're healthier, fitter and stronger than when you get to 65+ ...you're doing the right thing in my book. I had kids at 23 and now at 52 we have way more time and money and I'm still fit and healthy so this is another way to do it but I wouldn't wait until I'm 65. You're a long time dead so get on with it.
John my suggestion be careful of what you record. It’s documented now your beautiful wife Bridget might see where her liquid measuring cup went. This was very well edited. That’s for sharing.
Glad you like the videos and it’s a shame about the music… You can mute them, turn on CC and image I sound like James Earl Jones with whatever background music suits your taste. To me, that sounds amazing!! Good luck! 👍
Did the town require a building permit for the Boat sheelter? Around here the zoning Karen's and neighbors would probably complain about having such a big boat project in the tard, even though its your yard.
@livingforsail I relate. I'm building a 3m sailing dinghy, for far more money than a second hand one. learnt heaps in the process like fairing "the process of applying money to a surface before sanding it off into the rubbish bin '
Nice boat.. Terrible settee design. Not having 90 degrees inner corners gives no back support legs up in not only one but in 4 different directions... Design over function.
Have seen this hundreds of times but they are not on UA-cam. You're going to lean to hate that ladder. Don't waste time...... Hire the best to get this wreck back in water. You're not getting any younger. Get a bow thruster and a prenup... Just saying.
Why do certain people feel the need to always open with their profession as if everyone is supposed to be impressed? I was going to watch this build, not anymore. Unnecessary
Any Guesses for how many screws were holding down that deck? It's a number between 500 and 5,000...
Let's make it a nice even 2880

Hey really love your videos, I have been watching since day, I may not comment on every video but I watch all the same. This was a lovely video, great background of you guys. I look forward to watching this beautiful boat become an amazing sailing vessel ocean ready once again.
Hi. I really appreciate that you decided to say HI today! Means a lot to us over here. Thanks for watching the story. Cheers. 🙏👍🙌
Thank you! 🙏 I’m glad to see that you’re on your way with the 343. I wish you all the best with that! Cheers!! 🙌👍
I think that teak would make some beautiful tables and furniture peaces for the interior or cockpit.. keep that teak you will be amazed at how wonderful it looks after sanding it..
I still have it all. It’s thin in spots but I have some ideas… we will see! Thanks! 🙏🙌
@@livingforsail awesome.. I left you a comment and a link to the video of the refrigeration guy for sailboats in your community section. It's the only way to share links anymore without the comment being erased

Thank you! 🙏 I hope you enjoy. Glad to have you here too. 👍🙌
keep it up/You are on my list of videos of boat work.
Thank you for the support! 🙏👍🙌
Nice boat 💯💯💯💯⚓️⚓️👏👏👏
Thank you. 🙏
More screws than I've had !!...so definitely more rhsn than 3😂😂😂
Is that 3 (definitely you’d be correct with a guess of more than 3) or 3,000? Also a good guess 👍😀
🥰
🙏
Morning to the two of you was another great great episode Thankyou was especially nice that Bridget appeared on the video its nice getting to know you both and your spin on Boatbuilding
Thank you! 🙏 we appreciate that. 🙌👍
The editing is 🔥
Thank you! 🙏
Dude you're really well skilled and not only that know how to learn and expand on new competencies. You're a natural with this video series as well I would say.
Thank you very much for the encouragement! 👍🙌🙏🙏🙏
Is Bridget going to be DIYing her Law School homework on UA-cam? I might watch that, too! ;)
Didn't kerfing that G-10 block that backs the staysail chock weaken it considerably right down the middle where it needs to be the strongest? It was really deep.
It would weaken it, yes. I don’t think in a way that is a concern for it’s application. since it’s core material, It is mainly there for its high compression resistance and is solid where the four bolts go through (in the corners). The fiberglass skins on top and bottom will tie everything back together and it will be all good.
It was also filled with thickened epoxy which should bond to the g10 well.
This used to be cored with little pucks of plywood so this solution is many times stronger than the original design. 👍
I will encourage Bridget to start her own law school
Channel where she studies and reads cases in real-time. 😳🤣🙌
When you baked the water pump housing did you stick a toothpick in it to make sure it was done in the middle?
Not exactly. With powder coat you know it’s done when the “pops” are 1-2 seconds apart.
@@livingforsail that’s why I watch your videos-informative!
There's a guys in your area who builds some amazing fridgeration units for older boats.. sailing vessel mig channel has a video showing his work and his contact information. Capt Topher will gladly give you the guys info if you leave him a comment. The guy is a small business owner and does quality work that he will stand behind
I’m interested to check it out. Thanks for the lead! 🙏👍🙌
@@livingforsail the guy can build it for your exact needs and specifications and dimensions..
4358 screws. S/V Drifter
👍
4,269 screws?
as I said, you are good, up and coming. for the ultimate, try Leo at Sampson Boat Company. jaw-dropping work.
Thank you.
I’m not much of a runner…
I like your wooden arches but could 1.5 in pvc pipe work just as good . I have decide how to build my structure for boat
I to hear your option
I think it’s going to depend on your overall size and weather pattern.
If you get high winds and especially snow I would not put much faith in PVC pipes. The wooden arches once glued and screwed are very strong. I can hang my whole body from any pair and pvc would not be able to do that…
Our shed is 52’x21’x22’h … it’s big!
Hi I'm new your channel, I've got a Landfall 39' with the same issues so we have alot in common, I used to live in Bellingham
Hi! Welcome to the Channel! Thanks for watching 🙏 and all the best with your refit project with the ‘39!! 👍🙌
Yes, not having any kids is a big reason we can pull all of this off right now. Cheers. 🙏👍🙌
John my suggestion be careful of what you record. It’s documented now your beautiful wife Bridget might see where her liquid measuring cup went. This was very well edited. That’s for sharing.
Haha! Yeah. We’ve had that talk before. 🤷♂️🤦♂️😂
bhahaha you all need to help me find these things! #constantstruggle to keep kitchen stuff in the kitchen. Anyone else?
@@bridgetcongo8415 So busted! Haha. 🤦♂️
is it weird that i'm jealous? even though i know the amount of time, money, and effort these refits take up
I understand but yes, many people would not 🤣.
🔥💪💪👏👏👍
🙏🙏👍👍🙌🙌
Enjoy your videos but your music is killing me😂
Glad you like the videos and it’s a shame about the music… You can mute them, turn on CC and image I sound like James Earl Jones with whatever background music suits your taste. To me, that sounds amazing!! Good luck! 👍
Did the town require a building permit for the Boat sheelter? Around here the zoning Karen's and neighbors would probably complain about having such a big boat project in the tard, even though its your yard.
Why fix up a boat instead of buy one ready
It's a engineer thing
Classic
Not really interested in a boat that’s ready. It’s not for everyone…
@livingforsail I relate. I'm building a 3m sailing dinghy, for far more money than a second hand one.
learnt heaps in the process like fairing "the process of applying money to a surface before sanding it off into the rubbish bin '
@@jvodan Haha. Exactly!!!
aint useble as firewood due to 5200
This is true. 👍
I can’t hear any thing.
😳
Nice boat.. Terrible settee design. Not having 90 degrees inner corners gives no back support legs up in not only one but in 4 different directions... Design over function.
Yeah. I won’t put up any argument there. I’ve already thought about squaring off the port side. We will see… it’s not on the top of the list… 👍
Content was good music was awful.
Have seen this hundreds of times but they are not on UA-cam. You're going to lean to hate that ladder. Don't waste time...... Hire the best to get this wreck back in water. You're not getting any younger. Get a bow thruster and a prenup... Just saying.
Thanks for the opinion 👍
Why do certain people feel the need to always open with their profession as if everyone is supposed to be impressed? I was going to watch this build, not anymore. Unnecessary
✌️
I don’t know about you @kgt87 but I’m pretty impressed. Look what this guy is doing. Show love amigo!
Why do certain people feel the need to always bring down the vibe with snarky comments? Unnecessary.
Thanks Dan! 🙏
Right?! 🤣
I'm guessing that there are 1,273 screws😂 AWESOME to meet the wife, Best wishes 👌✌️🫶👋👋👋👋
I’ll let you know how close your guess is once things settle 👍
